Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I'm Father John Briteo. The televising of this mass is made possible with a contribution from the Polka Car family from Toronto, Ontario. This Mass is offered in honor of the Pokacar and Seljack families. We know that this television mass brings meaning to lives of thousands of the faithful across Canada, the USA, and around the world. And they join me in thanksgiving, in thanking the Pokacar family for the gift of this Mass. That we begin with the sign of our salvation in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the community of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries. You were sent to heal the contrite of heart, Lord have mercy. You came to call sinners Christ have mercy. You are seated at the right hand of the Father that you intercedes for us, Lord have mercy. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Let us pray. O God, who have made all those reborn in Christ a chosen race and a royal priesthood, grant us, we pray, the grace that to will, to will, and to do what you command, that the people called to eternal life may be one in the faith of their hearts and the homage of their deeds. To our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

A reading from the book of the prophet Ezekiel. The word of the Lord came to me. Say to the people, thus says the Lord God. I will take the people of Israel from the nations among which they have gone, and will gather them from every quarter and bring them to their own land. I will make them one nation in the land on the mountains of Israel, and one king shall be king over them all. Never again shall they be two nations, and never again shall they be divided into two kingdoms. They shall never again defile themselves with their idols and their detestable things, or with any of their transgressions. I will save them from all the apostasaries into which they have fallen, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be my people, and I will be their God. My servant David shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd. They shall follow my ordinances and be careful to observe my statutes. They shall live in the land that I give to my servants Jacob, in which your ancestors lived. They and their children and their children's children shall live there forever, and my servant David shall be their prince forever. I will make a covenant of peace with them. It shall be an everlasting covenant with them, and I will bless them and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary upon them forevermore. My dwelling place shall be with them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Then the nations shall know that I am the Lord, that I the Lord sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary is among them forevermore. The word of the Lord.

The Lord be with you. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John. Many of the Jews who had come with Mary and had seen what Jesus did believed in him. But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what he had done. So the chief priests and the Pharisees called the meeting of the council and said, What are we to do? This man is performing many signs. If we let him go on like this, every one will believe in him, and the Romans will come and destroy both our holy place and our nation. But one of them, Caiphus, who was a high priest of that year, said to them, You know nothing at all. You do not understand that it is better that you have one man die for the people than to have the whole nation destroyed. He did not say this on his own, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was about to die for the nation, and not for the nation only, but together into one dispersed children of God. So from that day on they planned to put him to death. Jesus therefore no longer walked about openly among the Jews, but went from there to a town called Ephraim, in the region near the wilderness, and he remained there with his disciples. Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover to purify themselves. They were looking for Jesus and were asking one another as they stood in the temple, What do you think? Surely he will not come to the festival, will he? The Gospel of the Lord. Thank you. Thank you for joining us on this literally the last day of Lent. Tonight, at the Vigil Mass, parishes around the world will celebrate Palm Sunday, and then on Sunday, tomorrow, they will go into the most solemn time of the year, Holy Week. Last year, I was able to watch a number of series of the well-known production of the chosen. The scene stands out for me in the one of the today's readings when Jesus encounters Caipus, the high priest. The actor playing Caipus displayed a man dealing with great struggles, one of leaving everything behind, including his position as high priest, the comfortable life that he was living, and his wife. All of this to follow Jesus. I do, I sincerely hope that one day you have a chance to watch the series. It's very educational and thought-provoking, at least I think it is. It also gave me a good understanding of the New Testament in various parts. For example, let's reflect on some of the events of those last days of Jesus' life on earth before his crucifixion. First, today's gospel reading takes us to the aftermath of the raising of Lazarus. Scholars tell us that it is typical of John's Gospel to contrast the gift of life to Lazarus, who brings death to Jesus. And in its it is in reaction to this miracle and the large crowds gathering that the high priest holds this meeting just before the arrest of Jesus. Jesus sets his face toward Jerusalem, knowing what awaited him there. On the other side, it was Jewish belief that when a high priest asked for God's counsel for the nation, that God spoke through him as a prophet, as high priest. What dramatic irony that Caiphus prophesied, that Jesus must die for the nation. And then the prophet Ezekiel announced that God would establish one people, one land, one prince, one sanctuary forever. And then Luke adds that Caiphus prophecy that Jesus would, and I quote, gather into one the children who are scattered abroad all over the place. Jesus came to lay down his life for the many, but not in a foolish, reckless manner so as to just throw away everything before his work of salvation was done. Jesus waited until the time had come when nothing would stop his coming to Jerusalem to fulfill his Father's mission.

Augustine of Hippo stated, and I quote, The passion of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the hope of glory and the lesson in patience. He loved us so much that sinless himself, he suffered for our sinners the punishment we deserved for our own sins. And he continues, how then can he fail to give us the reward we deserve for our righteousness, for he is the source of righteousness himself. And then he finishes, how can he, whose promises are true, fail to reward the saints when he bore punishment for sinners, though without sin himself? And then he finishes by stating, Brethren, let us then fearlessly acknowledge and even openly claim that Christ was crucified for us. Let us confess it. And on the way to glory the victory and victory for his through the cross. Let me start that again. On the way to glory and victory for us through the cross, Jesus Christ gave us, forgive us, and brought us into the presence of the Lord because of everything he suffered, so that we wouldn't have to suffer as much. The question I have for you is are you ready to take up your cross and follow Christ in his way to victory? Remember, he will never ever give us more. He will never give you more than you can handle. Give it a try. Whatever you're going through, whatever you're suffering, whatever you say, Lord, but but why me? So many people ask, why not me? Why not us? Let us give it all to the Lord who will help you and me carrying that little cross that is fit just for you. It's custom made for you. And just say, Jesus, thank you for uniting me to you in this beautiful journey on this earth. And so I pray this little prayer for you. Lord Jesus, may we, your disciples, be ever ready to lay down our lives in conformity to your will to willingly suffer and die for you that we may also share in your victory and glory one day with all the saints and angels in heaven. Amen. And today we pray for all of those in our daily TV Mass prayer intention book. We pray to the Lord. This month's community prayer is for fathers, grandfathers, and protectors that they may lead with wisdom and humility, inspired by the quiet faith of Saint Joseph. We pray to the Lord. Let us pray for more vocations to the priesthood of Jesus Christ. We pray to the Lord. For you and for all who are in one way or another suffering, may your crosses be lightened by your faith in Jesus Christ, who will always be there for you. We pray to the Lord. And we conclude our petitions in asking our blessed Mother to always guide us in our journey as she guided her son. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation. For if you have received the bread we offer you, fruit of the earth and work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life. Blessing God. Through the misery of this water and wine, they become to share in the divinity of Christ, who humble themselves to share in our humanity. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation. For if you're going to receive the wine we offer you, free to the vine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink. Blessed God with humble spirit, God. Sacrifice in this idea of you, Lord God. Lord, wash away my iniquity and cleanse me from my sins. Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father. For the praise and Lord of His name. For our good and his own church. May the gifts we offer from our fasting be acceptable to you, O Lord, we pray. And as an expiation for our sins, may they make our worthy of your grace, make us worthy of your grace, and lead us to what you promised for eternity through Christ our Lord. The Lord be with you.

SPEAKER_03

And with your strength.

SPEAKER_00

Lift up your hearts.

SPEAKER_03

We lift them up to the Lord.

SPEAKER_00

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. Your street right and just our duty and our salvation, always in every word to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, eternal God. For through the saving passion of your Son, the whole world has received the heart to confess the infinite power of your majesty, since by the wondrous power of the cross, your judgment on the world is now revealed and the authority of Christ crucified. And so, Lord, with all the angels and saints, we too give you thanks, as in exaltation we acclaim.

SPEAKER_04

Holy, holy, holy God of host.

SPEAKER_00

You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy therefore these gifts, we pray, by sending down your spirit upon them like the dew fall, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion, he took bread, and giving you thanks, he broke the bread and gave it to the disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it. For this is my body, which will be given up for you. For this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith.

SPEAKER_04

We proclaim your death of Lord and propise your friction until you come.

SPEAKER_00

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the child salvation, giving thanks that you've felt us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. How we pray that by taking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world, and bring you to the fullness of charity, together with Leo, our Pope, Francis, our Bishop, and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy, welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with the Blessed Joseph, our spouse, with the Blessed Apostles, and all the saints who please you throughout the ages, we may merit to be coheres to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ. Through him and with him and in him. O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours for ever and ever. Amen. At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we're there to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, how be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil. Gracious you grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all the stress, as we wait the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Lord Jesus Christ, you say to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church. And grace and peace and unity in accordance with your will will live and reign forever and ever. The peace of the Lord be with you always. Amen. Stop for a moment and think of someone you want to be at peace with, and through the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ, wisdom, peace. Behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the sopper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter on my roof, but only say the words, and my soul shall be healed. Everybody is crying to the last.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

Let us pray. We entreat your majesty most humbly, O Lord, that as you feed us with the nourishment which comes from the most holy body and blood of your Son, so may you make us shares in His divine nature, who lives and reigns forever and ever. The Lord be with you.

SPEAKER_03

And with your spirit.

SPEAKER_00

Let us go from this Eucharist in the peace and love of Christ. God bless.

SPEAKER_02

Our thanks to our donors for the gift of this man.
