Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I am Father Francis Salesiar. The televising of this Mass is made possible by the contribution from Agnes Doyle of Cambridge, Ontario. The Mass is offered in Thanksgiving for the Daily TV Mass, for world peace, the repose of the souls of Joe Doyle and deceased family members, for the sick, the elderly, shut-ins, and the return to the faith of our families. On behalf of all the faithful across Canada and around the world gathered for this celebration, we thank Agnes Doyle for the gift of this Mass. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. Through the scriptures of today, we are challenged that Jesus came to fulfill the law, not to abolish. Law gives us meaning, purpose, fulfillment. Let us ask God's pardon and mercy for the moments where we fail to appreciate the invitation of Christ. I confess to Almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do through my fall, through my fall, through my most grievous falls. Therefore I ask Blessed Maria Virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to life everlasting. Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Let us pray. Almighty and merciful God, by whose gift you are faithful offer you, right and praiseworthy service. Grant we pray that we may hasten without stumbling to receive the things you have promised. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.

A reading from the first book of Kings. King Ahab summoned all the Israelites and assembled the prophets of Baal at Mount Carmel. Elijah then came near to all the people and said, How long will you go limping with two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him, but if Baal, then follow him. The people did not answer him a word. Then Elijah said to the people, I, even I only, am left a prophet of the Lord, but Baal's prophets, number four hundred and fifty, let two bulls be given to us. Let them choose one bull for themselves, cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and lay it on the wood, but put no fire to it. Then you call on the name of your God, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The God who answers by fire is indeed God. All the people answered, Well spoken. Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, Choose for yourselves one bull and prepare it first, for you are many. Then call on the name of your God, but put no fire to it. So they took the bull that was given them, prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning until noon, crying, O Baal, answer us. But there was no voice and no answer. They limped about the altar that they had made. At noon, Elijah mocked them, saying, Cry aloud. Surely he is a god. Either he is meditating, or he has wandered away, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep, and must be awakened. Then they cried aloud, and as was their customs, they cut themselves with swords and lances until the blood gushed out over them. As midday passed, they raved on until the time of the offering of the oblation. But there was no voice, no answer, and no response. Then Elijah said to all the people, Come closer to me. And all the people came closer to him. First he prepared the altar of the Lord that had been thrown down. Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord came, saying, Israel shall be your name. With the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord. Then he made a trench around the altar, large enough to contain two measures of seed. Next he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood. He said, Fill four jars with water, and poured it on the burnt offering on the wood. Then he said, Do it a second time, and they did it a second time. Again he said, Do it a third time, and they did it a third time, so that the water ran all around the altar and filled the trench also with water. At the time of the offering of the oblation, the prophet Elijah came near and said, O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your bidding. Answer me, O Lord, answer me, so that this people may know that you, O Lord, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back. Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering, the wood, the stones, and the dust, and even licked up the water that was in the trench. When all the people saw this, they fell on their faces and said, The Lord indeed is God. The Lord indeed is God. The word of the Lord.

For when you I take love I say to the Lord, you are my Lord. Love to choose another God. Lot of songs. I'm a lot of take the names upon my lips. You are my heart. Hold my heart. You hold my love. I keep food always before me. Because he's such my light heart. I should be saved. You are my heart. You show me the heart of life. In your precious flowers, fullness of joy. In your right hand, you're precious for me. Give me some for God. You are my heart Hallelujah. Teach me your peace, my God, and lead me in your truth.

SPEAKER_00

The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. Jesus said to the disciples, Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish, but to fulfill. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. The gospel of the Lord. His friend smiled and asked, That's wonderful. So what did you learn? The man passed, thought for a moment, and said, Honestly, I learned that people keep breaking the rules and God keeps finding a way to bring them back. It's a simple answer, but it is surprisingly profound. It captures something essential about our relationship with God. We wander, we compromise, we get distracted. And yet God remains faithful, always calling us back, always inviting us to return to Him with our whole heart. Today's readings from the 1 Kings and the Gospel of Matthew speak directly to that tension between compromise and commitment, between divided hearts and faithful obedience. The first reading, we witness one of the most dramatic moments in scripture: Elijah standing alone on Mount Carmel against 400 prophets of Baal. Israel has lost its way. They haven't rejected God outright. They are trying to serve God and Baal at the same time. They want to keep their faith while also fitting in with the culture around them. So Elijah asks a question that cuts straight to the heart. How long will you go limping with the two different opinions? In other words, how long will you try to live in two directions at once? How long will you try to serve God while serving whatever idol promises comforts, success, or control? Elijah proposes a test. Two altars, two sacrifices, no fire. The true God will answer. The prophets of Baal shout, dance, and exhaust themselves, but nothing happens. Silence. Then Elijah steps forward, he rebuilds the altar of the Lord, he drenches the sacrifice with water, making it humanly impossible to light. And then he prays a symbol, trusting prayer, and God answers. Fire falls from heaven and consumes everything. The people fall to the ground and cry out, The Lord indeed is God. This moment is not just about a miracle, it's about clarity, it's about choosing whom we will serve. God does not compete with idols, He exposes their emptiness. When we come to the gospel, the gospel might seem like a shift, but he is addressing the same issue Elijah faced. He says, Do not think that I have come to abolish the law. I have come not to abolish, but to fulfill. To our ears, this might sound like a technical statement about religious rules. But Jesus is going deeper. He is correcting two misunderstandings. Some people in his lifetime reduced the law to external observance. Others dismiss the law altogether as unnecessary. Jesus shows that both approaches miss the point. The law is not about legalism, it's about love. Love of God, love of neighbor. Love that shapes how we live, how we choose, how we treat one another. Just as the Israelites try to serve God and Baal, Jesus warns against a faith that is half-hearted, selective, or convenient. We may not bow before statues, but our idols today are far more subtle and sometimes far more powerful. Our balls can be success, comfort, reputation, control, our own opinions, the need to be liked, and the desire to fit in. We may not offer sacrifices to them, but we often give them our time, our energy, our attention, and eventually our hearts. Unlike the people on Mount Carmel, we sometimes limp between two choices: faith on Sunday, compromise on Monday. Trust in God when life is smooth, self-reliance when it is not. Prayer when we are desperate, distraction when we are comfortable. Elijah calls us to decide. Jesus calls us to live that decision fully. So the question for us today is not simply, do I believe in God? Most of us would say yes. The deeper question is, is my life aligned with that belief? Are there places where I am still divided? Are there idols I need to let go? Are there areas where I am still trying to serve to masters? Because in the end, the choice is not between rules and freedom, it is between truth and illusion, between life and emptiness, between a God who loves us, and idols that cannot love us back. So, dear brothers and sisters, let us hear Elijah's question personally today. How long will you go limbing between two opinions? Let us stop trying to please a world that will never be satisfied. Let us stop dividing our hearts between God and everything else. Let us choose the one who has already chosen us. And may our response echo the people of the people on Mount Carmel. Not only with our lips, but with our lives. The Lord indeed is God. The Lord indeed is God. We pray for ourselves that we may continue to have the faith and understanding that the law and the prophets are for our guide and of our fulfillment. We pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. For all those in our daily TV Mass Prayer Intentions book, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. During this month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, let us pray for healing in families. That Christ's mercy may renew our hearts and restore our relationships. We pray to the Lord.

SPEAKER_05

Lord, hear our prayer.

SPEAKER_00

Let us make all these prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you, fruit of the earth and work of human hands. It will become for us the bread of life.

SPEAKER_07

Blessed be God forever.

SPEAKER_00

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you, fruit of the wine and work of human hands. It will become our spiritual drink. For the praise and glory of his name. May these sacrificial offerings, O Lord, become for you a pure ablation, and for us a holy outpouring of your mercy through Christ our Lord. The Lord be with you. And in your spirit. Lift up your hearts. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is truly right and just our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks. Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God. For just as through your beloved Son you created the human race, so also through Him, with great goodness you formed it new. And so it is right all the creatures serve you, all the redeemed praise you, and all your saints with one heart bless you. Therefore we too extol you with all the angels, as in joyful celebration we acclaim.

SPEAKER_04

Holy, holy, holy Lord God of hearts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory.

SPEAKER_00

By sending down your spirit upon them like the dew fall, so they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion, he took bread, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body, which will be given up for you. In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice once more, giving thanks. He gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is a chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant. Which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith.

SPEAKER_04

When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again.

SPEAKER_00

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Leo our Pope, Francis our Bishop, and all the clergy. Remember also, brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy. Welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all. We pray that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with the Blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ. Through him and with him and in him. O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever.

unknown

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

At the Savior's command and form by divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not in temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom of God, glory now and now and forever. Lord Jesus Christ, who sit here apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will. Who live and reign forever and ever. Amen. The peace of the Lord be with you always. Let us offer each other the sign of peace. Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word, and my soul shall be healed.

SPEAKER_03

Please join me now in this act of spiritual communion. My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.

SPEAKER_00

So that renewed by these heavenly sacraments, we may be prepared by your gift for receiving what they promise through Christ our Lord.

SPEAKER_05

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

The Lord be with you and with your Spirit. May Almighty God bless you, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Go forth in peace to love and serve one another.

SPEAKER_05

Thanks be to God.

SPEAKER_01

Our thanks to our donor for the gift of this mass.

SPEAKER_07
