The better a man is, the more anxious is he to know the worst of his case. The more a man gets rid of sin and the more he lives above his daily faults and errors, the more he cries,, "Search me, O God, and know my heart; O try me and know my thoughts, and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

Guilt is a God-given mechanism. Conscience is to bring peace into the soul of the humble, repentant one and drive the rebellious to their knees. If this is ignored, it causes a hardening of the very arteries to the heart and leads to a cold madness and eventually destruction. O believer, confess to your Lord today and never allow yourself to be haunted by guilt again!
