We sometimes make the mistake of thinking our homes are brick and mortar. It would be better we didn't own one. A home and a house are two very different things. But like a house, a home must be built from the ground up on a firm foundation and carefully maintained through the years. We lay footings and build walls from the ground up but we never finish the improvements. We may add windows into future dreams, a kitchen where laughter and joy are stewed or a hearth of hardy conversation in the family room- whatever the case, the Christian home must continue to grow from the ground up in grace, in love and in righteousness. Then, when the storms of life come, 'It is like a man building a house who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock, Jesus Christ.' Luke 6:48
