Biblical repentance is as essential to reconciliation as mercy is to forgiveness. Reconciliation by definition must have two parties and both parties have essential roles to play! The offender may have a change of mind that brings a change of heart. The offended may have a change of heart that brings a change of mind. Either way, repentance is essential.On a grander scale is our relationship to our Lord. It is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance. We come under the influence of the Spirit of God where our mind is changed, mastered by the grace which causes justice to gives way to mercy. It is the Master’s mind that is strangely reflected in the wholly graceful life of the mature believer.
