HONOUR COMES AFTER

Mankind is sinful, depraved and deceitful in nature. We will always default to self service. Imagine following Jesus into the heart of danger, being told of His demise and then carrying on a argument of self en-grandeur. One of His followers’ would have Him dead: literally all the others sought their own honour. Jesus washes their feet and objects to their selfishness by demonstrating a new model of leadership, serving. Honour, we don’t deserve,  but it will come if we only learn to serve first.


How firmly pride and love of preeminence can stick to the hearts of Christian men.

The sin before us is a very old one. Ambition, self-esteem, and self-conceit — lie deep at the bottom of all men's hearts, and often in the hearts where they are least suspected! Thousands imagine that they are humble — who cannot bear to see an equal more honored and favored than themselves.  J C RYLE
