Nothing But Smoke - Nothing NEW!

"There is nothing new under the sun."

At first glance, that almost sounds depressing.

Until you realize he wasn't talking about God's ability to do new things.

He was talking about mankind's inability to become new apart from God.

From God's perspective, creation was never unfinished.

When God completed creation, Genesis tells us He looked over everything He had made and declared, "It is very good." Creation wasn't waiting on another ingredient. It wasn't missing a chapter. Everything necessary for life had already been spoken into existence.

Then thousands of years later another declaration echoed through history.

As Jesus hung on the cross, He cried,

"It is finished."

The first declaration completed creation.

The second completed redemption.

One finished the world.
