Episode 7 - Pauline Menczer, World Surfing Champ
Today’s guest is a cracking good chick. Pauline Menczer is an original Aussie Battler. Born in the Bondi of old where money was skint and life was tough, Pauline has battled rheumatoid arthritis from an early age and now also suffers from a rare and terrible auto immune disease pemphigus vulgaris. And yet. Against all odds and in a time where “girls can’t surf” Pauline became World Surfing Champion in 1993, winning nearly every one of her tournaments in the world that year.
She received no prize money but she did get a broken trophy. Along the way she helped blaze a trail for female surfers everywhere.
It’s a pretty uplifting story. And one you shouldn’t miss. Presenting to you the one and only Pauline Menczer.
Further Information
Pauline features in the inspiring and sometimes shocking film, Girls Can't Surf, a documentary by director Christopher Nelius. You don't even have to like surfing - this will resonate strongly with women and educate and probably surprise some men. On Stan, Apple and Prime TV.
