Fruitful Conversations

Episode 29 - Jean Beech - Just Get on With It

Season 1 Episode 29

Today's guest is someone I've wanted to interview for a while, but the time hasn't been right. She hasn't been well the last 18months and not up to it. Now it's August 2021, half of the Australian population are in lockdown. I'm in northern NSW and my elderly parents are across the border in QLD.  So I thought it was the perfect opportunity to interview my mum.

Jean Beech was born Jean Lambie in a little place called Kalimpong, near Darjeeling in India, at the foothills of the Himalayas.  Her father was a Scottish tea planter, her mother, Indian, was probably a tea picker. When she was 5 years old her father took her to a school run by Scottish missionaries. She never saw her mother again.

At 15 she found herself in Australia, one of the very few dark faces on the streets of Sydney.

This podcast is all about chatting to people who share their stories to teach and inspire us to be better versions of ourselves. I wanted to share my mum with you, because to me she represents one of the everyday role models in our personal lives who inspire us.

Have a listen and you’ll find out why. Enjoy my chat with Mum - the sunny and smiley and sometimes weepy, Jean Beech.
