Feral scan is another app that you might find useful. This allows you to map the sightings of different pest animals and also identify and record the problems that they are causing. When you log in and you add information into feral scan that can be seen by pest controllers, local government catchment groups, community groups, anyone who might be involved in managing these pest animals on DH course, it can help you, particularly with any on the ground responses that you might have to these pest animals. Which, of course, is if we have this integrated local pest management approach. If you've done your accreditations on baiting in Australia, have to first of all, get your Australian chemical users permit and then you can get you're accreditation to bait, particularly from a baiting foxes that that's a great tool because you learn that this concept of scanning the environment not just on your property but your neighbor's property is a very useful tool. So if you're baiting and your neighbours are basing on, their neighbours are basing, then you are going to get the best integrated pest management approach. Plus, of course, as I mentioned using other tools like our packers feeding out thie foxes with roadkill on DH, using fox lights and shooting as well. Potentially, I know we all go to our mentor for help, but it's also good to give them a day off. So that is where the veterinary handbook for cattle, sheep and Goats, which is made by the Australian Livestock Export Corporation, is a great tool for youto have in your back pocket on DH. This's a nap where there is a cost of $4 but when you get it, you can help look up diseases symptoms on indeed, how to treat those perhaps diseases as well. So a great little tool and a great one. If you want to give your poor sheep mentor who's been hounded by you a day off from answering your questions. They mentors need time off, too. Another one that's a recent addition to the Australian landscape is phone of it. So this is a tool where for 20 for 99 you can have a phone consultation with a vet on. This is a great way for youto ask questions. Perhaps find out urgent responses, particularly if you've got little stash of medicine on you don't quite know how much to use or which one to use. The phone of that app can really give you peace of mind. They will dispense or can dispense or help you dispense through your local vet. But your local that will be the one who would actually dispense any pharmaceuticals for your animals on very products for your animals. But the phone event is just a great peace of mind. And again, Google that Andi Khun download it for free on there is that little cost in charge that might help you there as well. Maybe look into and unsee if that would be useful for your ship. Enterprise. A few things to think about just but more generally around APS would be. What do the review comments say about the APS? That could give you an idea of how useful that act might be on if indeed, it's going to be worth you investigating Some ups you do have to put a bit of effort in on DH had in some information about yourself. But of course, that can help make it more useful for you Is the app suitable for your conditions. Now I'm mentioning here, apse, that I use. In thiss episode of the sheep show podcast We're going to talk about some APS. Some applications you Khun download on your phone mainly for your phone that can help you in your sheep breeding enterprise. We'll talk about some of the ones that are very useful, particularly from Australian context, but also some of the ones that you can adapt. No unaware you are breeding your sheep. I'll also tell you about a few business apse as well that I use on DH. I'll also do special podcast on business skills down the track for you. A cz Well, if you remember from Brett's interview with Gary and I, we both have business backgrounds so very happy to share with you some of the tools that I use when running both my sheep business, but also my my HR business as well. So one of my first favourite app, the one we're going to look at first is an app published by the Department of Primary Industries in Western Australia. On this is my go to app for lamb planning. In fact, the APP is actually called lambing planner on DH. This is a amazing tool. What you do is you head into what you download it. So if you haven't looked at how to download an app on your phone, then have a little search to be able. Teo, work that out on. Then you head to Lam Planner. You can pop into the date that you wish to join on. So I know for a lot of closure. Horn breeders We join on Valentine's Day for romantic. So, Papa, the date in there pop the data. And let's say it's going to be Valentine's Day 2 2020 So you popped that date in on DH, then what Lam planner does? It populates the entire journey off your lambing cycle. So what do you need to do to get your rams ready? And when do you need to do that? What? What do you need to do to ensure that you're used health are all up to date linked back to some of the elements that we looked at in the last podcast on new health. But you'll see this plot out the timelines for you. It's amazing. It also tells you when you can expect the little bundles of joy so his lambs on it helps you plan your 1st 3 months off that lamb's life time. When do you Mark When do you win? When do you vaccinate All these things are all plotted out for you when toe look for perhaps your faecal worm egg count. When might be high times or risk times for that just in a calendar year, and it's a beautiful visual as well. So it gives you a lovely, then lovely visual diagram you can look at to see what stage you're at in your your you cycle and your lambing planning cycle so brilliant up well worth downloading and it's free as well. So highly recommend you having a look at that particular up, too. One of the main business ups I use that I mentioned here on We'll talk about further when we look at business skills is zero. I use zero for the finances of both of my businesses on DH. Yes, it is a costly app or costly tool to use on DH. What? What is your time worth? I did my accounting for my farm enterprise in your one on an Excel spreadsheet on Boy, Did that take me some time. So I'm saving so much time by using zero on that $50 that I spend every month is very well spent. It sucks in all the transactions that I make. Any time someone pays me for some sheep or some meat or even exit, pulls it in there on it, it reconciles automatically, for you just need to click a button. It also is a great tool when you're working with your accountant so they can see exactly what's happening. You can put in notes in there around transactions, so you remember, and they're aware there's less questions unless pain. So actually, the less work they have to do, the lower their invoice is going to be a thie end of that, not financial year. A cz well, some of the other apps that are worth mentioning would be APS to help you with managing your chemicals. Thie, Australian pesticides and veterinary mended medicines Authority have sent that released a nap. If you search for a P V M A. That will help you find this particular app on. This is a great app if you want to know the active ingredients in, for example, some of the drenches you're using. If you want to know that we're told in periods off some of the vaccinations or some of the mineral supplements, you might be using pack sizes, product labels. It helps you generate labels as well for thie. Perhaps if you're using any other sprays and things like that, too, we don't use spray. So I primarily used this one for active ingredients in thie supplements that I might use for for my sheep. So a great little tool. Obviously, I'm sure you're all up to date with using a weather app. I find it's great because I get notifications if there is a sheep grazers warning in my local area, and that helps me know. Okay, where my sheep? What products are the rain are the shelter is a shelter. Other, you know, air trees that they could get under and so on. So if I'm now Ming, of course, it's a great resource for me to know what actions I may need to take a cz Well, to help me. So making sure you've got your weather and I'm sure you will do have ah, nice, robust weather app on your phone. I talked a little bit about the predators that we have in the last podcast on DH. Feral scam is another app that you might find useful. This allows you to map the sightings off different pest animals on also identify and record the problems that they are causing.
