The Weather Man Podcast, I talk about weather!
Thunderstorms are rolling in across the Northeast today, but weekend sunshine awaits.
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletieri. I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking in to theweathermanpodcom on your Thursday. It's the eighth day of the month of May, a month that usually gives us some pretty nice weather across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, but it seems like the weather pattern is looking a little bit more late, april-ish, you know, because a lot of April showers yes, we do need some rainfall across the Atlantic and the Northeast, so there will be some scattered showers and thunderstorms developing by later today from the DC up to the Boston area, centered around New York City, especially in the afternoon and evening. Some of the thunderstorms could be locally heavy and, of course, with all the actual FAA and airport delays at Newark Liberty International Airport, along with some bad weather that can only slow things down even more so. But for the most part temperatures in the 70s, before those clouds move in fair skies, 70 to 75. And then, as we head towards tonight, showers and thunderstorms and a little bit of a northeast flow as the frontal system moves through from the northwest. Now that's going to stall just to our south. So that means mostly cloudy conditions during the daytime on Friday, with a possibility of some scattered showers and thunderstorms. Well, depending upon where you are. These storms will be forming during the afternoon and evening and at their strongest at night. The secondary low pressure and cold front moving through Pennsylvania, in western Virginia and sections of the mid-Atlantic and northeast could have some locally severe weather. That'll be on Friday night, early Saturday Again. That will even increase area delays if you are flying on Thursday or even on Friday afternoon. Friday evening it's like a tough go from Boston to New York, newark, philly, baltimore, dc, all with some hefty weather for Friday night into early Saturday. So heading to the weekend though, both Saturday and Sunday are looking very nice with near normal temperatures. That means highs between 70 and 75. Cooler on Saturday, 75 expected for Sunday and under mostly fair skies Elsewhere across the nation.
Speaker 1:If you are flying on this Thursday, it looks like the Atlanta area will have some scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon hours, and this is associated with a frontal system that's stationary right along the Gulf Coast, extending from Houston and into central Louisiana and then just off the south coast of Florida I mean the south coast of Georgia, northern Florida and there'll be heavy and locally severe thunderstorms along that frontal system during the afternoon and evening today. So maybe some delays. Into the Atlanta area. Looks like heavy amounts of showers and thunderstorms in Tennessee, nashville, also in Memphis, maybe even up in Louisville as well, kentucky. But it does look like dry weather in Chicago. Dry in Minneapolis, st Paul, texas. Looks like rainy weather in Houston, but Dallas-Fort Worth just warm and muggy, maybe a late day thunderstorm. Dry conditions from LA to San Francisco all the way up to Portland and into the Seattle-Tacoma area. Again, looks like some scattered showers and thunderstorms later in the day for the Northeast corridor, later on Thursday, also on Friday and Friday night. But it does look like some nice weather moves into the northeast this upcoming weekend.
Speaker 1:I'm Eddie Rond, I'm the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to you first thing tomorrow. Take care.
