From East Coast Sunshine to Four Corners Rain: America's Weather Story

Stephen Pellettiere
Speaker 1:

Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking in to theweathermanpodcom on your Saturday. It is the 23rd day of the month of August 2025. And well, our weather situation across the North is absolutely beautiful once again. From DC all the way up to the Boston area, all the way up into Maine and the Canadian Maritimes, the weather was very, very nice, nice and clear. One of the reasons for the blue sky is the upper level. Winds are more out of the north and northeast low, and that keeps us away from those Canadian wildfire high pressure cells. When they move down out of central and western Canada, those blue skies tend to be a little bit more milky, a little bit more smoky looking, and that's the way it has been so far this summer. But with the high pressure to our north, it usually gives us some excellent conditions, and that's what we had again today. Not too bad for Saturday. Once again, you'll notice temperatures back into the 80s in the New York area, philly, washington DC, Also showing a little extra cloud cover. Moving in from the southwest, though, as we head up to the Boston area, also looking at good weather, and for the islands offshore, there's hurricane air now moving far off to the north and east over the North Atlantic, becoming a subtropical system over the next 24 to 36 hours, a problem for the northern shipping routes. But here in the east we've got great weather for Saturday highs in the middle 80s. It looks like fair weather for tonight, looks like partly sunny weather on Sunday, a good 60% chance of some much-needed showers as the weather front arrives later in the day on Sunday and Sunday night, but then by Monday early showers give way to a clearing trend. It looks like some dry, nice weather for midweek with temperatures just a little bit below normal and that means highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Normal highs should be around 81, 83 degrees this time of year.

If you're traveling today, it looks like rainy weather down in Atlanta. It's going to cause some delays into there A major hub, the most busiest airport in the world and in the Charlotte area also looking at the possibility of some thunderstorms, showers and thunderstorms also in Central and South Florida. There's going to be some delays going into there, but you know how to handle that weather situation as it is typically this time of year very rainy season down in Central and South Florida. Also looking at rainy conditions in Houston, but dry and hot in Dallas, fort Worth, showers and thunderstorms in Chicago as that weather front moves through. That weather front will be moving through the northeast on Sunday evening, moving through Chicago during the daytime today. Minneapolis, st Paul still with a little bit of cloud cover and some rain showers, and it looks like rain showers across four corners, four corner states of Utah, colorado, new Mexico and Arizona, and it looks like that flow out of the southwest also affects central and southern California as well, and then they get into some heat after that and that heat will most likely continue for the next several days. Dry weather up in San Francisco and also in Portland and Seattle as well.
