The Weather Man Podcast, I talk about weather!
Today's clearing trend brings comfortable temperatures to the Northeast through next week.
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Thursday. It's the 18th day of September 2025 and this month is going by pretty quickly Now. It started out generally dry. This month, had some areas of rain move in yesterday in many spots across the mid-Atlantic and down in through the Baltimore, dc and even into central and northern Virginia as well. Much needed rainfall because it has been dry, but that upper-level low-pressure system is starting to lift and move away from the area, so we'll have a little bit of early fog and clouds, but it does give way to a clearing trend and some very nice weather.
Speaker 0:For Thursday Normal highs should be around 77, 78. It's going to go up to 82. As a matter of fact, above-normal temperatures are expected. For Friday, highs will range into the middle 80s for the most part in many places and then as we get into the weekend, high pressure starts to build down from the Great Lakes. That means fair weather with comfortable temperatures in the 70s. That's normal for this time of year on Saturday and Sunday and it does look like great weather for Monday, tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Each day the high highs getting a little bit warmer the upper 70s on Monday, 80 to 85 Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. That's generally a temperature trend for the whole northeast corridor, a little bit cooler along the shore because there will be some slight sea breezes as we head into early next week. But for the most part, looking at this weekend, we're going to have some excellent weather. After clouds and some passing fog early going give way to a clearing trend today as our high temperatures reach the upper 70s and lower 80s. Clear skies at night, down again into the upper 50s and sunny Friday all the way into the mid 80s. That's the warmest day of the next several. However, it will cool down for the weekend and that warmer trend, as mentioned, for next week.
Speaker 0:Now, if you're traveling by airliner, today looks like some nice weather starting to develop across the New England states. There is going to be some cloud cover early, so traveling early will probably have a little bit of delays up in the Boston area and New York also because of some patchy fog and cloud cover. But it does lift and, as the day wears on, some great conditions for Philly, baltimore and DC. Even down at Charlotte and Atlanta we're looking at some great weather. Central and South Florida has been having lots of thunderstorms. More of the same likely for today as the frontal system almost stationary right across that region. Fair weather in New Orleans, but showers are possible in Houston and Dallas. Fort Worth looks like Chicago will be generally fair, but it looks like some rainy weather for Minneapolis, st Paul and lots of rain across the Dakotas today. Southern and Central California still under rain. They're getting some rain down there in the southern portion of California San Diego, la, even San Francisco looking at the possibility of some showers and rain today. It looks like dry weather for Portland and Seattle during this afternoon.
