Snow On The Way For The Northeast

Stephen Pellettiere
SPEAKER_00:

Hi, this is Meteorologist Steve Pelletier, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the WeathermanPond.com on your Friday. It is the 12th day of the month of December, 2025. Weather situation for today does show generally fair conditions, but cold weather temperatures have been averaging between four and six degrees below normal in many spots across the northeast. It looks like today is no exception. And for tonight, it will be generally fair. Overnight, night low temperatures down to about 20 to 25. Also a good amount of sunshine to start the day on Saturday, but then an increase in clouds. And this from an area of low pressure that'll be moving out of the Midwest. And it looks like to give the New York City area, Baltimore, Philadelphia, even down to D.C., northward, all the way up to the Boston area, somewhere between one and four inches of snowfall, depending upon where you are. That's going to be during the overnight Saturday into Sunday. Then it looks like another area of high pressure builds in from the northwest. Looks like fair, but continued cold to the normal conditions until the early portion of next week. But we are getting indications around the middle of next week that temperatures will start to moderate back to near normal, if not even above normal, as we add closer to the upcoming holiday season. In the meantime, for today, good amount of sunshine, but high temperatures between 30 and 35. If you're traveling by air today, generally fair weather in the New York-Philadelphia area, also up to Boston. Looks like generally dry conditions in those places. So no problems weather-wise getting in and out of the mid-Atlantic and northeastern states from any weather patterns during the daytime on your Friday. Also looking at fair skies in Charlotte and also in Atlanta. Down to central and south Florida, generally good weather, except some late-day showers across the southern portion of the Florida Peninsula. Dry weather in Houston, Dallas Fort Worth. Looks like snow showers in the Chicago area. Also, snow in Minneapolis, St. Paul, several inches expected in much of the state as the area or that storm that's heading towards the northeast starts to form. And most of the heavier snowfall in the northwest is associated with a low pressure system now over central and western Montana, northern sections of Idaho. That means dry weather for a good balance of the West Coast. Looks like San Diego, LA, and San Francisco dry and sunny. Looks like fair weather in Portland, and just a few light showers and the rain and water-soaked Pacific Northwest, including Seattle, Tacoma. In the meantime, looks like generally the weather across the nation, except for the Chicago area and Minneapolis, is going to be generally okay throughout the daytime today into this upcoming weekend. But again, looking for that possibility of a good one to four rain snowfall across the mid Atlantic and Northeast this upcoming Sunday. I'm in your mount hey Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to your first thing on Saturday. See you then.
