Stormy Morning, Calmer Weekend Ahead

Stephen Pellettiere
SPEAKER_00:

Hi, this has been your ballot, Steve Pelletier, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into theWeathermanPod.com on your Friday, 19th day, the month of December, and quickly approaching two-thirds of the way through the month. And well, our temperatures are warming up just a bit on the eastern seaboard. It has been on average of about six to eight degrees below normal up until about now. But we have temperatures in the 50s and in some places even the 60s during the daytime today. Then a sharp cold front moves through, and then we get into some near-normal conditions as we head into the weekend and early next week. So for today, it looks like rain nearly going with some locally heavy thunderstorms and some heavy downpours, and a wind advisory because of those south-southwest winds shifting around to the northwest, 15 to 30, but some gusts of 40 to 45. And that's because that wind advisory with a strong cold front moving through the region, generally during the early to mid-afternoon hours. Then as we head into the evening, we have heavy rains in the morning with very warm conditions at night. We get into a windy and colder flow, and even the possibility of a few snow flurries here and there. But then we get into clearing, and it looks like generally fair and more seasonable weather coming up for the weekend. Cold on Saturday, but warming up a bit on Sunday. Saturday's high temperatures generally in the 30s to near 40, and Sunday's high temperatures generally in the 40s, some places even further south, down to about the 50 to 55 degree range on Sunday. Then it looks like fair, colder weather for early next week. In the meantime, if you're traveling today, extensive delays in the New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore area during the early going on Friday. It will tend to improve a bit during the afternoon, but because the winds are shifting around to the northwest, it's uh you're looking at between two and four hours of delays and even cancellations into the New York, Philadelphia, and Boston area today. But by this evening, the weather situation starts to improve, so uh things will gradually diminish. And uh any uh delayed flights or canceled flights that we have during the daytime today should be uh at least uh augmented or replaced on Saturday as the weather starts to improve. Good weather in Atlanta today. Charlotte's looking good, but also good in central and south Florida, except for some scattered showers and thunderstorms across the keys. Dry weather in Houston and Dallas and Chicago, Minneapolis showing an increase in clouds and maybe some snow to rain or ice uh during the overnight Friday to Saturday there. West Coast is looking dry. San Diego, LA. It looks like uh wet weather in San Francisco and Portland, and see how it all looks like rain continues in the Pacific Northwest. I've been your mind, Steve Kelly. And I'm the Weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to you first thing on Saturday. See you then.
