Snow Melts, Rain Moves In, Then A Cooler, Clearer Sunday
Hi, this is Meteorology Steve Pelletier, and I'm the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the WeathermanPod.com. On Saturday, it's the 10th day, a third of the way through that month of January already. And we've got some very mild weather up along the eastern seaboard. There was a lot of snow on the ground in Pennsylvania, northern New Jersey, and also in places across central and northern New York, all the way across New England. But with temperatures over the last several days between 10 and 15 degrees above normal, a lot of melting. We're going to have still more melting of those snow banks during the daytime on Saturday because of mild temperatures and rainfall. Rainfall in the New York area probably will amount somewhere between about a quarter and three-quarters of an inch of rain. Might be a little bit more in central and southern New Jersey. But for the most part, that front will bring us rain during the afternoon and evening today and into the evening hours. Looks like our winds will shift around to the northwest, still with a little bit of cloud cover overnight. But Sunday looks like it'll improve. We'll start off with some clouds, give way to some sunshine. Again, high temperatures on Saturday, 45 to 50, highs of only 40 to 45 on Sunday. And then for Sunday night with clearing temperatures back down below the freezing mark into the mid to upper 20s. Didn't only fair, but seasonable conditions expected for Monday and Tuesday of this week. Now, if you're traveling by air today, looks like our weather situation will be IFR in the city with rain, drizzle, and fog, especially in the afternoon and evening. That'll slow things down, maybe to about an hour delay in and around most area. Airports, Philadelphia, Baltimore, D.C., all with rain. Rain down to Charlotte as well. Also rain in central and northern portions of Georgia, including Atlanta. Looks dry across Central and South Florida, and also dry weather in Houston and Dallas. Could be some snow in a windy city in Chicago, and even the possibility of some snow showers or squalls in Minneapolis. West Coast dry weather for San Diego, LA, and San Francisco. Looks like some rain moving in to Portland and Seattle later today. I've been your monster Steve Felder, and I'm the Weatherman. We have a great day today. We'll talk to you first thing on Sunday. See you then.
