Welcome And The Date
SPEAKER_00Hi, this is Midorolister Steve Pelletier, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking in to the Weathermanpod.com on your Saturday. It is the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, the 23rd day of the month of May.
Much Needed Rain Returns
SPEAKER_00And we've got some much needed rain for the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. It's been very dry. Generally, for the last six months, we've had a deficit of about an inch of rain. Looks like we'll get between one and two inches of rain with this series of storms. A stationary front across from the Tennessee Valley right to the Mid-Atlantic and to the northeast will be the pathway for areas of low pressure to form with Gulf Moisture and head off towards the northeast. And that's going to bring us the rain that we're expecting today, tonight. And also on Sunday. Looks like a steady rain in the morning, but in the afternoon, it tapers off the showers. And there may even be a thunderstorm on Sunday night. Then as we get towards Memorial Day Monday, mostly cloudy, a little bit warmer. That's usually a good sign, 70 to 75. But we still have about a 50% chance of showers on Memorial Day Monday.
Highs And Lows Through Wednesday
SPEAKER_00So we're getting highs today with the rain 57, lows at night 45 to 50. Sunday's highs only 60 to 65 with that rain. And then on Monday, up to 74, but still a chance of a shower. Wouldn't note going back to work and school on Tuesday, mostly cloudy, 81. That means there's going to be some sun as well. Partly sunny 85 on Wednesday. And in the 80s, expected for Thursday of next week as well.
Air Travel Delays And IFR
SPEAKER_00If we're traveling by air today, of course, we're going to have IFR conditions, instrument conditions that usually slows things down. Norwegian, LaGuardia, JFK, and Ice Lip in Philadelphia. It's all going to be the same. So one to two hours delayed because of weather, not terrifically bad weather, but just low ceilings and visibilities. They usually get through that pretty well. And an east wind usually means some fairly decent crosswinds on runway 422 at JFK, Newark, and LaGuardia, which they'll probably be using the Northeast runway. And looks like as we head down further south towards the Atlanta area, overcast and wet weather, rainy conditions, so some delays into there, delays into Nashville. Charlotte also with rain and a warm front. So this could be some low visibilities because of the rain and uh foggy conditions in Charlotte. Still some scattered showers and thunderstorms down in central and south Florida, but mainly afternoon. IFR and rainy in Houston and Dallas. And Chicago's looking pretty good. The rain's probably ending in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the West Coast remains dry. But because of Atlanta and Houston, Norfolk, JFK, LaGuardia, Philadelphia, Baltimore, all being IFR and rain, there will be some extensive delays on this Saturday traveling
