Quick Setup And Regions Affected
SPEAKER_00Hi, this is Middle Roger Steve Pelletier, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the WeathermanPod.com on your Friday, seventh day of the month of August 2026 with uh some scattered thunderstorms and some heat and humidity across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
Front Timing And Weekend Relief
SPEAKER_00Looks like it'll continue today, but we do have a frontal system due through. Sometime on Friday evening with that frontal system moving through, we have the chance of some locally heavy thunderstorms. And then we get into a clearing trend. High pressure starts to build down from the Great Lakes. Still temperatures will range into the 80s to the lower 90s, but the heat index value is not as bad because the humidity values will be lower as we head into Saturday and Sunday. And Saturday afternoon, also the possibility of a widely scattered thunder shower. I think most time, most places, you will be rain-free. And it does look like nice weather for both Sunday and Monday as the high pressure cellos over us. No, the frontal system probably does around Tuesday and Wednesday of next week with that chance of showers and thunderstorms then.
Heat Advisory And Downpour Risk
SPEAKER_00So for today again, what's that hazy sunshine and a heat index up to 102, heat advisory in effect, and a chance of a late day and early evening thunderstorm. They're actually the probability at 60%. So there could be some locally heavy downpours with that front moving through.
Air Travel Delays And Airport Impacts
SPEAKER_00Traveling by air today, the frontal system that we're expecting to move through is currently moving through the central Great Lakes and will be arriving here sometime overnight and early on Saturday. In the meantime, lots of showers and thunderstorms across central and western Pennsylvania, the Ohio Valley, Tennessee Valley as well. Norc, New York, LaGuardia, and JFK, most of the time it'll be okay, but later in the afternoon, early evening, with the frontal system moving through, or get at least getting closer, there'll be some locally severe thunderstorms, and that will cause delays in the New York area, uh inbound and outbound. So also the same situation for Boston, but to a lesser extent. Philadelphia, Baltimore, and D.C., all scattered showers from thunderstorms. Later
Smoke Out West And Sign-Off
SPEAKER_00afternoon, early evening, again, could cause some problems there. Looks like some showers also in Charlotte. The weather has been lousy down here last several days. Atlanta also the possibility of some rain, but nothing too heavy and no severe weather at this point. We do see some scattered heavy thunderstorms, central and southern Florida peninsula today. So there could be some delays getting into Miami and Fort Lauderdale because of those thunderstorms. And showers in Houston, dry but hot in Dallas, Fort Worth, also generally dry in Chicago. Most of the rain will be to the east. Minneapolis, St. Paul, strong cold front moves through, so that will cause some heavy thunderstorms, then a clearing trend. West Coast, dry in San Diego, LA, San Francisco, also dry up in Portland and Seattle as well. But that smoky condition continues across Idaho and western Montana, northern sections of Wyoming for this afternoon and tonight. I'm Eddy Roger, Steve Pelleterian, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to your first thing on Saturday. Have a great weekend. Take care.
