D&D Campaign Recap and Banter
Speaker 1Thank you.
Speaker 2There's going to be so much editing for this episode.

Speaker 2And Brandon Hi Brandon, hello Brandon.
Speaker 3I too am Brandon and I'm playing Nines, the high elf monk, who is just so cool.
Speaker 2I think this is the most sober you've been since when we started D&D. We'll see. We'll see.
Speaker 6Give it time. And finally, maddie everybody, I'm maddie.
Speaker 2I play montoya inigo, the arctic taboxi ranger hellbent on vengeance for his father uh, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who found us like us, giving us ideas. It means a lot to us. We're going to be doing not only the campaign that Justin is doing, but we're also, as long as you all, whoever comes in and plays with us in our community games. We're going to probably record that and just release it raw, no editing or anything like that. We're just going to release it for people to listen to it. Let me take that back. We're going to edit a little bit out of it, otherwise we're going to get canceled very quickly.
Speaker 3I don't often say the N-word Often.
Speaker 2I think it's often.
Speaker 3I think you're actually correct. I over-pronounce often. Huh Interesting.
Speaker 4I thought it was often. It absolutely is.
Speaker 3It sure is, you are correct.
Speaker 4No, you said it correctly. Brandon was the one that said it wrong.
Speaker 3Oh, I thought I said often, as we have established multiple times my accent is different than the rest of yours. I'm so confused, brandon said it right, but Brandon said it wrong. Yes, okay, thank you the.
Speaker 4Brandon in the middle of the screen said it correctly. The one on the left side of the screen said it incorrectly.
Speaker 2I'm always right, I'm on.
Speaker 3There is no middle of this. Justin's in the middle of the screen. What's?
Speaker 6happening here? I thought it was the pH that's silent.
Speaker 3Like in.
Speaker 6Steven, no, often P-H-T-E-N.
Speaker 5P-H-T-E-N.
Speaker 4P-H-T-E-N Like the P-H in phone is silent.
Speaker 2We did just release episode 73 today, so give it a listen. We are currently recording episode 77, so, as you can tell, we're a few episodes behind. Make sure you give us a listen and give us your feedback. This is something different that we haven't done before, so I'm pretty excited for where it's going, but we should conclude this session or next session, depending on how distracted we get with Dust.
Speaker 6And if you give us your feedback. We will get to it in approximately four months from the time you're listening to this right now.
Speaker 3Merry Christmas. Everyone Just want to say that uh, happy 2025. I cannot believe the election went that way.
Speaker 6This has been an insane year.
Speaker 4We're making predictions and I definitely couldn't believe that the election went the way it's gonna go so all right, and let's roll for some recaps. So I'm gonna claim a head injury that I can't do.
Speaker 2Recap I don't know if it works like that, buddy. I mean you might be doing the recap.
Speaker 6I know seven. It's not looking too good I got a 13 god damn did it.
Speaker 2I wasn't the lowest roll, I rolled a nine, all right, nines, rolling nines, hell yeah, all right Beal.
Speaker 4What did Matty roll?
Speaker 213. Matty rolled a 13.
Speaker 4Oh, my goodness, You're going to have to get me started.
Speaker 2I do not remember anything, okay, so you started outside of Mr Dory's warehouse and you snuck into the warehouse.
Speaker 4Oh, my god, oh wait, oh, I don't have.
Speaker 3Attached to the warehouse was actually a ship on stilts. Do you remember that?
Speaker 4Oh, okay, Alright. So Glenn, we all discussed it and the plan was we were going to sneak in. Glenn was going to sneak in and originally he was just going to blatantly walk straight through the middle and stealth, because he has awesome stealth because he was using Pass Without Trace. Yeah, Pass Without Trace, Monty. He's using Monty's Pass Without Trace, so he basically cannot be seen. But we instead did a distraction as well at the same time, so the distraction went off. It was Monty using the dwarven ring thing of disguise. So he does the disguise thing and makes a big commotion. And wait, did he do the tabaxi? He did it as the tabaxi where?
Speaker 3oh, it was you well, I also no, no, no, yeah, I'm sorry, yeah yeah, yours is coming up.
Speaker 4Um, so monty does a huge distraction and then he attracts one of the guards. So one of the guards runs off and Monty changes. I can't remember. Did you start off as a tabaxi and change into a dwarf, or did you do it?
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 4So then Nines goes up and tells the other guard that he wants him to punch him in the face. But a cool feature of the monk that is nines, they can't hit him like some kind of pacifist thing.
Speaker 3Yeah, tranquility. It gives me sanctuary, meaning they have to pass a wisdom saving throw in order to attack.
Speaker 4So he did that, and so one of them tried to punch or no one of them they. They didn't punch him. They ended up not punching him um but, he tried did anybody ever punch you?
Speaker 3no, monty tried to punch him too tried several times yeah, uh, nines kept going around saying, hey, punch me in the face, bet you can't, because of the tranquility and sanctuary thing, and nobody was able to make the roll.
Speaker 4So meanwhile Glenn sneaks in, sneaks up to the second floor and drops a rope down from the window and all this stuff is going on, and I'm pretty sure we almost didn't make the whole sneaking in thing because Nines was still trying to get people to punch him in the face, that's correct, which was kind of humorous, uh. But we ended up, everybody got up to the second floor and then we snuck through and we went over to, um, the, the door that goes over to the boat, and I'm starting to get a little invaded.
Speaker 4Did we fight?
Speaker 6We fought a bunch of flesh golems and other stuff.
Speaker 4Oh yeah, we went into this room and there was a disappearing guy that kept turning invisible that we couldn't find and then thought he was a big bad. But then it was Glenn. Right, glenn, just friggin' one-shotted him.
Speaker 5It was the guy we were looking for, Darcy Dory.
Speaker 2Dory.
Speaker 3Finding fucking Dory, come on.
Speaker 2Yeah, guys, I'm not original. I pull from all the content that I've ever had in my entire life.
Speaker 4So we fought the flesh golems, we killed all the flesh golems, we killed all the flesh golems and then we tried to stop the guy. We're going to question him, but he ended up not being very strong. That wasn't Dory, was it? That was Dory? Okay, well, dory is no more. We killed him, correct, dory?
Speaker 3no more-y.
Speaker 4Yeah, glenn thought he was going disable this guy and it turns out that he was a Mr Weakpants.
Speaker 3Wait, what did you try to disable him with?
Speaker 4My sword by poking.
Speaker 3And we determined that you decided not to declare a Non-lethal attack or what uh no, no, he did not.
Speaker 2No, no, I have it in my notes not really our style no, no, glenn.
Speaker 6Glenn was proving a point, hey I'm pretty, I'm pretty sure there was a batman joke. Oh no, he's just sleeping. Yes, there was a Batman joke?
Speaker 2No, he's just sleeping. Yes, there was a Batman joke.
Speaker 4We pretty much thought he was just faking it, but nope.
Speaker 6I think Monty tried to resuscitate him too, he healed him.
Speaker 4We used the healing spell on the dead guy, yeah the dead guy. So it did nothing. Then we, we searched and I don't remember what we found. No, we didn't, we didn't find, we were still searching, right we found you.
Speaker 6You kind of left off, but we got the stuff, yeah, you found a bunch of stuff.
Speaker 2The last thing that happened was monty opened a mahogany box that was on the table and he started going through, and the first thing he pulled out was a map showing the location of Thasador's temple.
Speaker 4That's why Glenn freaking killed him because Glenn took damage. He doesn't like taking damage.
Speaker 2Sorry, Therizdun.
Speaker 6I was like Thasador. Who's Thasador? I thought it was Therizdun. That's the other one that we don't know about yet.
Speaker 2Yeah, Therizdun. Okay, I was like.
Speaker 6Thasador. Who's Thasador? I thought it was.
Speaker 2Therizdun.
Speaker 4Yeah, it's Yep, that guy. That's the other one that we don't know about yet.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, that's the other one. Okay, all right. So yeah, that's the first thing we pulled out and we decided to end there. There are a few more papers in that box.
Speaker 3We're distracted by smoke in the warehouse that we just left, correct?
Speaker 4I threw a smoke bomb didn't I?
Speaker 3Yes, and Monty acquired a plus two dagger with a pun mechanic yes, he did. That will damage anyone.
Speaker 2The dadger, because he just had a baby.
Speaker 4It's the dadger. There you go. I apologize for my poor recap. I went to click on OneNote to open up my notes and I do not have Office installed on the computer no, that's fine.
Speaker 2I mean you did a pretty good recap. New computer who dis?
Speaker 4yeah, bill, you get some inspiration alright, thank you, I will definitely not use it, I know.
Speaker 2I have a running tally of how many times we've used inspiration in the last 30 episodes. Any guesses? In the last 30, in the last 30 episodes. How many times we've used inspiration, and that's not just from recaps.
Speaker 3I've used it at least twice okay 9 times 9 times out of 30 9's so.
Mors Returns, Temple Map Found
Speaker 4I don't know that I'd say six, nine times, nine times out of 30. Nine, nines. So I don't know that I've ever. I don't remember you ever giving inspiration outside of recaps.
Speaker 2I've given it a few times for very good descriptions.
Speaker 4I mean, glenn is really good at role-playing. Actually, I guess I'm good at role-playing Glenn On occasion. I mean, I've got'm good at role-playing.
Speaker 2Glenn On occasion. I mean I've got If there's a door I can't get through. I'm going to continue to stab it. I'm still stabbing it.
Speaker 4It's still stabbing it. The third episode.
Speaker 6I've gotten more inspiration from Andrew and I've only played with him two or three times.
Speaker 2Well then, go play with Andrew and in the casino.
Speaker 4I didn't get anything up for that. Anyway, all good, Thanks for the inspiration. You got it now.
Speaker 6Yeah, don't forget to use it. Don't worry, we won't do any rolls this episode.
Speaker 2Yeah, I was going to say I like how he's complaining about it and he's never used it.
Speaker 4I used it once Because he never needs it. Fair, all right, I don't need it very odd, not especially now with skill checks and half my skill checks are automatically 10 all right, so right.
Speaker 2We just finished battling two flesh golems and mr dory, who is, uh, turning invisible and visible every time he uses spell attack. Uh, one time he failed to turn invisible and got fucked up on real quick by Bill, or, correction, by Glenn. And after searching we found six rubies and a dadgur and a few other items. And then we started going through a mahogany box and the first thing that Monty pulled out was a map showing Therizdun's temple.
Speaker 4All right, and there are a few other things in that box, but what happened to the? Rubies.
Speaker 6I've got them in my inventory. Is it one ruby worth 500?
Speaker 2It is six rubies totaling 500 gold pieces.
Speaker 4Okay, how does that math work?
Speaker 3500 divided by six. Okay.
Speaker 4I know how the math works, but never mind, monty has those right now.
Speaker 3I don't think it's exact, but if we drop into some fractions, it all comes down to one 83 gold pieces.
Speaker 1I looked it up.
Speaker 4It's not a number I made up.
Speaker 2It said 6 rubies is 500 gold pieces.
Speaker 5Get a discount on the sixth one.
Speaker 2Yeah, buy five, get one free.
Speaker 6Hey guys, do you think I can buy a pencil with these 6 rubies? Okay, I'm gonna take it. So Monty will hold up the map and kind of look to the group and particularly Mors in motion for him to come over.
Speaker 2Oh, that is Sam there is no Mors. Do you want to show Sam the map.
Speaker 6Yeah, why not He'll?
Speaker 1just say.
Speaker 3Can you show us all the map? Okay, thank you.
Speaker 6Take a look at this. I found the map to the temple where I believe the cultists are at. It says birth in three weeks. He shares it with the team.
Speaker 4What's that last? Thing?
Speaker 6Birth in three weeks. We already knew out on dead pelt shadows that these cultists were trying to resurrect, but we didn't know a timeline. We just knew it was a hurry. We got that from Morse's mummy, moomsy. Now we know we have a timeline.
Speaker 2So who is going to look at the map? I will.
Speaker 4You held it up.
Speaker 5I'm holding up everybody. I'll look.
Speaker 4Glenn will definitely look at it.
Speaker 3I'm going to use my free action to glance at the map.
Speaker 2Okay, great, I thank you for clarifying.
Speaker 4Is Sam going to use a good eye? Sam has two good eyes.
Speaker 2No, she only has one.
Speaker 4No, no, she's got two. One of them happens to be covered with an eye patch, but it's still good.
Speaker 2Oh, I thought it was her. That's on me, nope, oh, I thought it was hurt, that's on me Okay.
Speaker 2So, sam, as you glance at the map, you feel a calming sense flow through you and you start digging deep into your head, deep into your thoughts, and you start to recognize some of the things that are showing up on the map, but they seem just out of reach for you. I'm going to need you to give me a, a bah-ha-ha, a, bah-ha-ha, a bah. Oh, come on, sorry guys, I'm going to need you to give me a intelligence saving throw or, sorry, a charisma saving throw.
Speaker 5Yeah, that's a 13 total.
Speaker 2As the rest of you watch. You see Dam start to slowly float in the air and lights start sprinkling all around him, starting from his toes and going up to his head. His arms raise up and as he lowers to the floor Mors is there once before? Anybody get that reference. As he lowers to the floor Morse is there once before? Anybody get that reference?
Speaker 3As he lowers to the floor. Morse is there once before.
Speaker 2Yeah, does anybody get the reference of the lights and the floating?
Speaker 5We're all triggering to you calling.
Speaker 4The only thing I could think of was the sprinkling lights I was going to cheat on that?
Speaker 1I'm not even going to try anymore, Fuck you guys. I'll just tell you, there's lights.
Speaker 2Lights came up, and now there's mores.
Speaker 4What was spinning around?
Speaker 3Was it Fiona and Shrek?
Speaker 2Yeah, we originally got that from Beauty and the Beast.
Speaker 3Okay, oh, when the Beast became the prince, the prince guy.
Speaker 4Be careful.
Speaker 2We don't want to get sued by those if we were going to get sued by them, it would have happened back when aladdin and jasmine flew away and we fought jafar that might be some really good publicity for us to get sued dude it probably would I mean we'd all be broke whatever these are, these are all like completely open IPs. They've got to be right. Yes, the.
Speaker 3Brothers Grimm wrote that shit hundreds of years ago.
Speaker 4Yeah, but you're talking about the special effects for Beauty and the Beast, though. You need to make an LLC and put our story in that, the D&D story should be in an LLC In a funnier way.
Speaker 6I was pre-laughing.
Speaker 4Sue us. We need the publicity you won't. Alright, so Morse is back.
Speaker 6Morse is here, see, I told you I wanted to give the map to Morse.
Speaker 5Hi everybody. I guess that was.
Speaker 6Welcome back. Just in time we and Monty will kind of give a quick recap of all that happened and show them the map. I believe we have a date for the event your mother warned us about. It seems to be happening in about three weeks and here's the location. Oh wow, when did we get this map from? Oh, the dead guy over there. Monty points to the corner.
Speaker 5Oh no, actually I have a box.
Speaker 3The box on the desk. You guys don't share information between Sam and Mors? I don't think so.
Speaker 2No, and then when was the last time we saw Mors? That would be when you guys rested right after you got the javelin of Misty Step because you were flirting with the politician.
Speaker 5Mors went to bed and Sam woke up Right.
Speaker 3Right right, right right, and so most of the investigation Thornwell, thornwell, thornwell. Yeah, most of the investigation Moores has not really been privy to. It was just that very beginning, correct.
Speaker 6He, you know, they probably by now started leaving like tattoos on their leg to communicate back to each other.
Speaker 3I am very curious. Nines is very curious. How does Mors respond to suddenly reappearing and being in a completely new situation? What sort of information can Nines gather from Mors' response?
Speaker 4That is what glenn is interested in as well.
Speaker 5Monty doesn't care I think we decided that when morse is in whatever other place, he's with his uh, his goddess, I think I said was say l death, sorry, he's with l death, and she's kind of just helping him recover mentally from all the shit that he's been through and somehow Sam kind of like takes his place in his material form and she's like a spirit that was disembodied somehow. It's not all real clear it's fucking magic.
Speaker 3I am more confused now than I was a moment ago, but what is Morse's response to like? How does he behave when he comes back? Mostly curious, like not really alarmed too much Like he was expecting it and just knows that he needs to find out how he fits back into the situation.
Speaker 6Morse is kind of like a stoner, but he's not stoned. He'd go with the flow kind of guy he's a high elf, but he's not actually high, but he just goes with every situation and just doesn't want to hurt anybody. That's what drives his MO or rocks.
Speaker 5Well, there's a reason for the rocks he does love rocks?
Speaker 6Hey, I'm Morse.
Speaker 3What's your name?
Speaker 2I'm gonna work, so you didn't actually answer, Justin. How does Morse respond to all this?
Speaker 5Just like he's excited to see his friends and he's confused to how we got into the situation and it seems like we might be in impending danger, which is never a good thing. So he's slightly more concerned about that than the gap in time. He doesn't know how long it's been or what's happened since. Um, he's always excited to see beansprout, his bestest bud.
Speaker 3Um, but just kind of like gathering information before, like before he even knows what to make of it, he's just kind of oh, I'm back, hello uh, yeah, nines is too concerned about this and is going to give Mors a quick recap, like hey, it's been however many days three days or how long has it been.
Speaker 2Did Monty say that he just did that. Yeah, Monty did that. Yeah, it's been two nights.
Speaker 3Yeah, so I guess my point then is that Nines is very concerned that these two people are going to be switching places, apparently, and everybody's just cool with it.
Speaker 2Yeah so Out of the shit. Glenn and Monty have seen already. They're just like meh Whatever. They literally have been back in time 10,000 years ago, whatever.
Speaker 6It's nice to have a barbarian with us every now and then. Glenn is not a very good meat shield. He can actually tank pretty well, but yeah, as long as he doesn't get hit, yeah, well, he just gets really pissy.
Speaker 4So sorry, I'm not going to interrupt. Go ahead, You're still.
Speaker 6So yeah, we're looking at the map.
Speaker 2Yeah, so, morris, after you start gathering your wits, you do recognize this temple. It does share a place in the old timeline and, as far as you know the temple, this temple is not offshore. It's actually attached to this shoreline on this side of the, the sea of the crystal deep so it's not in deadpelt shadows, is what you're saying?
Speaker 5correct all, all right so go ahead Unless things have changed. I think this temple is showing that it's on our side of the water and it's not in deadpelt shadows, Do you?
Speaker 6still have that note that your mother gave you.
Speaker 5Oh, of course I do. I'll reach into my bag of bowling and produce it actually yeah, because she's telling us it is.
Speaker 6But she also told us it was a couple of days, let's see. So Monty will say didn't your mother say it was on the Isle of Dead Peat Shadows in just a few days, which I told him it would be a day or two from now? If this is saying three weeks and it's on shore, one may be a falsity. You're right, brandon, we're never going to this just so.
Speaker 2Just so to clear things up uh, more the the note that more's got. Whoever wrote that is blaming cultists for things, but did not mention, uh, there is dune or any kind of abyssal cult or anything of that nature, so as far as you know right now they're not related.
Speaker 6Oh, I thought the note specifically called out cultists who are trying to resurrect Therizdun on an island three days from now.
Speaker 2Uh no, the cultists are trying to summon a deity. But the cultists that you see over here and this is again what you're seeing from the note, but what you're seeing over here here they're not trying to summon anything they're saying that it will be poured in three weeks.
Speaker 4Is that what you're saying, correct?
Speaker 4so these are two separate events, in other words, okay that is correct I'm glad you clarified so all right, so glenn is going to refer to his glenn's big book of gods, page 82, and refer to his Glenn's Big Book of Gods, page 82, and refer to Therizdun's chapter or pages. And is there anything that is in there about the birth of Therizdun? Is there anything we know that we should be, or is there anything that he has noticed or written down that we could do to either prevent it or, well, prevent it? That's kind of what he would want to do.
Speaker 2So, after skimming the book, you do see that Therizdun, though he doesn't normally manifest himself in the material world, he does. His followers summon him by allowing him to touch another creature on this side of the plane. So it normally gives that creature superior strength. Intelligence gives them powers beyond their belief and he's been known to find a champion several times in the past, and every time he's had a champion it has caused chaos that the history books write about so okay, uh, so glenn will say that, um, we should, we should really be careful.
Speaker 4Um, like there's dude, when he summons an avatar and comes and joins the world, he causes all kinds of chaos, and and not the good kind of chaos that we do, like the bad stuff, where you know people die. Well, I guess people die when we do it too, but you know, when things come up, miss no, that too. Well, you know what I mean. The bad stuff.
Speaker 6I agree, although you know, we initially set out to lend a hand to Mors' mother in Deadpelt Shadows. We might want to return to that journey and secure our passage over to Deadpelt Shadows and that's just a few days away as opposed to, this is something happening three weeks from now and, to be honest, I don't know if I care too much about Thedr's Dune being resummoned. So do you remember why, matty, you were pulled into this to begin with? To be honest, I don't know if I care too much about Thedriss.
Speaker 2Dune being resummoned. So do you remember why, Matty, you were pulled into this to begin with?
Speaker 6Well, yeah, it's because the five-fingered elf elf elf is, or six-figured thing, uh is the one that the cultists are trying to resummon.
Unraveling the Lantern Ghost Mystery
Speaker 2Yes, but you were put down this mission path because you needed to secure passage to get to Dead Pelt Shadows to solve this. So solving this gives you that passage.
Speaker 6Well, I thought it was just killing. Dorvi gives us the passage.
Speaker 4No, no, no. We're supposed to solve the mystery of these murders.
Speaker 5The Lamplight Strangler.
Speaker 3The ghost.
Speaker 2Ghost Lantern Killer Never gonna Okay sorry, I thought it was just the fucking ghost-ass lantern killer.
Speaker 6I thought Thornwell was gonna give us passage after taking care of Dory.
Speaker 2So you still haven't gone through that whole box yet. That's in front of you, oh, okay. You're just looking at a map right now.
Speaker 4Yeah.
Speaker 6Wasn't Dory the one that was orchestrating these murders? Dory, dory.
Speaker 3Minding Dory.
Speaker 6Dory. Okay anyway, montiel.
Speaker 2Dory, I would never.
Speaker 6I just want to kill the men that killed my father. Let us move on with this.
Speaker 4What race?
Speaker 6was Dory.
Speaker 4Let's move on with this. What race was Dory?
Speaker 2Dory was a human, but he was transformed into a skum S-K-U-M oh, that's right A creature that either an aboleth or one of the gods have touched to give him increased powers.
Speaker 4Okay, All right, glenn will walk over and look at the box of papers.
Speaker 2Okay, so right on top you do see some writing, glenn, and.
Speaker 4If you say it's in fucking Dwarven, I'm disconnecting. It is not in.
Speaker 2Dwarven.
Speaker 5That would be funny though.
Speaker 2It is not in.
Speaker 5Dwarven. Morz will take this time to cast Comprehend Languages from his helmet.
Speaker 4Wonderful, it's a dwarven glen. It's burning it.
Speaker 2We're never solving this fucking. I'm out Deuces. Sorry, I have too many tabs, so it is written in Elvish. So that's good you can read it.
Speaker 4Yay, I can read that one.
Speaker 2But it's not a dialect of Elvish that you're familiar with. You can pick out words here and there, and what you gather from it is there's a couple sentences on this two-page letter that you can read, and what you can see is the catch again indicates a disturbance beneath us. We cannot locate the cause, but fear they may be in the water near you. Praise Therizdun. He rests and waits. The whisperer anticipates renewed lantern ghost harvest. The young one must be fed. This is how you will serve us. The harvest must increase, for the young one grows in size and appetite. Find someone to resume the Lantern Ghost tasks and bring the candidate to the temple, where we shall appraise its worth.
Speaker 3Copy and paste that into chat please, because what the fuck?
Speaker 2Yep, I got you. That was so much.
Speaker 3I put some time into this shit yeah, well, I I need to take some time to see this shit, I need to grok this, but not like in the elon musk twitter fiasco, of course way, while you guys are reading that I'm gonna refill my glass real quick, be right back you, I can still hear you.
Speaker 2Feel free to talk, don't tell me what to do.
Speaker 4Don't tell me how to feel the catch again indicates a disturbance.
Speaker 3Beneath us not locate the cause, okay, you?
Speaker 6shouldn't be reading out loud why, because I know you guys are very concerned about this.
Speaker 4Uh, each ruby was worth 83.334 gold 83 with a bar over it it's got to be repeating, yeah 0.334 is what I had to put into.
Speaker 6I. I mean this d d beyond does not lie.
Speaker 3They do math, okay, well, uh, just can know what was the number again, please 83, 3, 3, 4. Okay, let me, let me just punch this into my calculator 83.334 times6 equals 500 point zero zero four.
Speaker 6Nope, nope, nope. D&d Beyond says 500 exactly.
Speaker 3They're using fractions. They're faking the math. It makes it look right on my sheet.
Speaker 6Glenn.
Speaker 3It makes a smiley face.
Speaker 4Does it based on what he knows actually?
Speaker 1Right so.
Speaker 4Glenn says that, based on what he knows about Theriz is dune. This kind of leads us to believe that they're building up some kind of an avatar for there is dune, and when there is dune is when this avatar is ready to go. There is dune is gonna bless him, turn him into his avatar and that's what that means. That's's.
Speaker 6Glenn's interpretation. We should take this note to Council of Thorvald. I think we might have figured out exactly what's going on with this ghost lantern nonsense.
Speaker 4Well, we don't yet know who was the lantern ghost. Find someone to resume the lantern ghost's task. So the lantern ghost's tasks were stopped because presumably that one is. This does not prove that it wasn't that guy jarme jarme.
Speaker 6I mean, this is like 70 percent there, so c's get degrees in my opinion or go on, let's move.
Speaker 4We could go for an a plus on this assignment well, this could actually indicate that jarme was the killer, because he's now dead, so all right, monty doesn't really care, but okay. Well, our goal is to solve this mystery. Monty, I know you're easily distracted, so Glenn will kind of shake his head so that the feather floats around and continues reading.
Speaker 2What do you got, Brandon?
Speaker 3There was another death after Jarmy was imprisoned, though.
Speaker 4Yes, but they swept that. They swept that one under the.
Speaker 3It was swamped, I agree. But I felt pretty confident and I think we all did early on that Jarmy wasn't the guy.
Speaker 2So keep in mind this letter you found says find someone to resume the Lantern Ghost test.
Speaker 4Right. So they have stopped for a reason we don't know. So they could have stopped because Jarmy died. And Jarmy was the guy and jarme was the guy, because they've kind of covered up the death that happened after jarme died what?
Speaker 3by what evidence, like the fact that it's not concrete enough, or, yes, okay. Well, I don't think that's enough for us to make assumptions about oh no, no, I don't think that jarme did it, glenn does not think that Jarme did it, then why?
Speaker 4were you postulating that? No, I'm saying that this doesn't prove that he didn't. This doesn't clear Jarme and we're looking for proof that Jarme didn't do it. I'm not saying this proves he does. I'm just saying that this doesn't prove that he didn't Gotcha my bad.
Speaker 2I was trying to figure out if you were having that as Bill and Brandon or Glenn and Nines.
Speaker 3No, Nines does not understand what's happening.
Speaker 4Glenn doesn't really understand what's going on, but he's making assumptions.
Speaker 3Yeah, brandon doesn't know what the fuck's happening either, but Nines is definitely clueless.
Speaker 4Nines is going to admit it. Does Mors have anything to say?
Speaker 5Yeah, Mors is smarter than me. Can he make an investigation check to see if he knows what's going on?
Speaker 2Yes, but at disadvantage because you haven't been here for the entire, for most of the investigation.
Speaker 3All of his information is second hand.
Speaker 5Has anybody got any way to help me?
Speaker 1No of course not. I mean, I told you the whole story, because Monty's totally invested in this All right.
Speaker 5I got a 7 and 8 on the dice. My lowest score is an 11.
Speaker 2Okay. So based off the information that you have and from what you see in front of you, you can reasonably determine that whoever was the Lantern Ghost had to stop at some point, whether it was because of Mr Dory or one of his associates, and Mr Dory's task was to find somebody to continue that killing so that they can feed the young one.
Speaker 6So if we need to still search out more evidence to clear Jarmi's name, where should we go next?
Speaker 4There's still more papers right.
Speaker 2There's one more paper and a book.
Speaker 6Let's keep looking.
Speaker 4What's the paper say, or what is written on the paper?
Speaker 2I don't see anything. Hopefully. The piece of paper is a series of spirals and, glenn, you immediately recognize it as the same spirals you saw in Jarmi's cell, the spirals on spirals. I'll drop a quick picture of it in here, and so you recognize that, whatever is happening, jarmi is at least associated with Therizdun to some sense. Alright, guys, for this one I have to have like 20 freaking pages up and I lose shit.
Speaker 3You said, though, that this is in the next letter or in the book.
Speaker 2This is the next piece of paper. Piece of paper. Yeah, it is torn on the edges and it looks frayed, but it does look like a circle that is spiraling inward, with more spirals going out from there. Drop it in the chat. Boom.
Speaker 4And we determined that this is kind of a symbol of something to do with either. Was it an Aboleth thing?
Speaker 2This is the symbol of Therizdun, and Therizdun is known as the god of Aboleths, also known as the Chained One. Some people associate him with deep sea monsters such as krakens.
Speaker 4Is he ever called the Whisperer?
Speaker 2He is called the Whisperer.
Speaker 4Okay, all right. So this looks like that drawing that we saw in Jarmi's cell, and it's also a symbol of Therizdun Therizdun the Whisperer, the chained one. So I think this is just indicating to us that this is still something to do with Therizdun. And what is the? I'm sorry, I'm not going to walk over other people. Anybody else have thoughts?
Speaker 2Mors picks up the book. Mors, you pick up the book and inside is a handwritten and you die. Inside is a oh sorry. The cover is written in a combination of Abyssal and Infernal. It jumps back and forth between the two languages. But obviously you understand it because you have comprehend languages. And as you open the cover it is you notice a handwritten message in there that says this book contains all the invocations and prayers you'll need to learn the truth, mr Dory. The dark gods faithful are wary of new converts, but learn the words and they should accept you soon enough. Seek their pulpits in the evening shadow of Frother's Lamp. Praise, therizdun. I'm dropping it in the chat, brandon. Thank you.
Speaker 4So for the listeners the picture looks like a spiral kind of, with tentacles coming off of the spiral.
Speaker 6It's the thing they drew on Simba's head I mean we just ripped off of Disney.
Speaker 3Oh no.
Speaker 2Oh no.
Speaker 3So he said, I think originally a spiral with spirals coming off of it, which is the worst description. Imagine waves like a horizontal plane, with these like Roxy-esque waves, except the waves themselves are more spirally, like Nightmare Before Christmas. And then you take that entire horizon and you roll it into a spiral and kerblammy.
Speaker 5If anybody's ever seen Samurai Jack, it looks like the portal he falls through.
Speaker 2Immediately following you there.
Speaker 3Whoa, you guys are too young for me, but not like in a sexy way. Huh, what Edit? Hey, can you delete that last 30 seconds please?
Speaker 2The beginning of this episode is just going to be Brandon asking twice already to delete things.
Speaker 3Hey, can you cut that out?
Uncovering Plans in the Book
Speaker 4So it looks like Mr. Oh, hey, never mind. What language is that written in?
Speaker 2A combination of infernal and abyssal.
Speaker 3Oh, so I don't know what the hell it says and what was the title of this book.
Speaker 2It is called Therizdun's Follower and then underscored from. That is under that is a subtitle. It's Therizdude's progeny Does. Morse share this what did? You say Therizdune, oh, you didn't okay.
Speaker 6Is this shared? Is this information shared with the group to do all of our characters know it?
Speaker 2Morse has not shared it yet.
Speaker 5Wow, are you guys reading this?
Speaker 6This is really something I don't believe. We speak the language.
Speaker 3Might you interpret? Oh, yeah, do.
Speaker 1I have.
Speaker 3I have celestial draconic no I can't.
Speaker 6It was a time when I used to know abyssal or infernal, but it's been way too long.
Speaker 4So Glenn will say so. From what I read here is that there's a bomb that's going to go off and it's going to rip a hole in the universe and Therazoon's going to come through.
Speaker 6That sounds pretty bad.
Speaker 5I'm not sure about a bomb. Necessarily it flips through a couple pages, otherwise I don't think you're too far off.
Speaker 6Monty believes Glenn, and we move on with that mission. As the interpretation of this text, Backer music starts up. I'll do it for Monty. He's holding these six rubies in his hand. Monty's mine. We need to get Each ruby is 3.3334,.
Speaker 2Yes, I heard you 3.3334.
Speaker 6That's all it takes. He's thinking he's got his rubies. We need passage. So a while back we sent Glenn off to go check. This was like literally 10 seconds of our podcast. We sent Glenn to the wharf to check for passage and he came back and reported that it wasn't available. So Monty's going to turn to Glenn and say checked for passage and came back, reported that it wasn't available. So Monty's gonna turn to Glenn and say, uh, glenn, when you went to the wharf and were speaking to boat captains trying to secure passage to deadpelt chateaus, uh, how much was it going to cost? Because you came back and told us it just wasn't available. It wasn't.
Speaker 4You didn't tell us why so Glenn says well, it wasn't that it was too expensive, it was that none of them were willing to take passengers anywhere, let alone to dead pelt shadows.
Speaker 6Do you think these rubies worth 500 gold pieces would change their mind?
Speaker 4I'm assuming Monty would know if 500 gold pieces is an exorbitant amount of money he's willing to pay pretty much anything, 500 gold pieces is a lot of gold for a person, but it seemed like these ship captains were under contracts and they have agreements with very powerful groups that if they were to take us on their ships they probably would get into trouble and it's not worth the. I mean, 500 gold pieces is nothing if you're dead.
Speaker 6Yes, but the contract, the type of people might be paid off, if you will.
Speaker 4And you've seen how corrupt this place is.
Speaker 6All the more reason to try to get our way to Dead Pelt Shadows. I mean, we can continue down this path to you know, set Jarvee clear, but it appears as though we are going to continue this for quite some time, and I am more concerned about getting to Dead Pelt Shadows.
Speaker 4That's a good point. Here. Let me have the rubies and I'll see what I can do.
Speaker 6Monty will give him the rubies, Of course.
Speaker 2Monty will.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I lost them.
Speaker 1And they're gone.
Speaker 6Monty doesn't care about money.
Speaker 4Len really doesn't care about the money either. It's the challenge of getting more of it.
Speaker 6Yeah so Monty will say alright, glenn, if you feel like this could actually work, let's go. Let's go down to the wharf, let's see if we can make this work. As much as I want to continue down this path, I believe Jarvee has been avenged in my mind. I don't know if we need to continue to prove his innocence any further than this. That's where Monty's going to kind of stand on.
Speaker 5Hey guys, just two quick questions, or maybe a question and a comment before we go. Morris points towards the door where Sam had wedged a chair against the door to keep it from being knocked in. He kind of gestures around the room and points at the door and says it looks like we barred the door. Are we going to be able to just walk out of here?
Speaker 6No, we're not. How does that thunderstep thing of yours?
Speaker 5work Well, I concentrate real hard and then I can take one person with me and then it gets real loud where I was and then I appear somewhere else.
Speaker 2So, as you guys are talking about this, you start looking around Everybody. Give me a perception, check.
Speaker 4Oh, you don't Okay.
Speaker 5I got a natural 20.
Speaker 3I got a natural 4 plus 7 for 11.
Speaker 4I got a natural 6, which actually goes up to a 10. So I got a 19. Which?
Speaker 6actually goes up to a 10. So I got a 19. 21.
Speaker 3You get that before your Wait, wait, wait yeah.
Speaker 2You don't get that before your proficiency or your proficiency right.
Speaker 4The roll is automatically bumped to 10. Anytime you roll less than a 10, a 9 or less, it is treated as a 10. Oh wow, what is?
Speaker 3that ability called. If you roll less than a 10, a 9 or less, it is treated as a 10.
Speaker 2Wow, what is that ability called?
Speaker 3Reliable Talent Go fuck yourself.
Speaker 5DM.
Speaker 4I think it says the roll.
Speaker 5I think that's supposed to be the end result.
Speaker 4I don't know. Whenever you make an ability check that lets you add your proficiency bonus, you can treat a d20 roll of 9 or lower as a 10.
Speaker 3Okay there you go so the roll is a 10 plus 9.
Speaker 5Okay, jesus, fuck you're right.
Speaker 4No, it's just Bill.
Speaker 3Bill, fuck you're right Bill with one L the second time, Because he said Jesus fuck, you're right, geez. I shortened Bill Like he shortened you like, because he said jesus fuck, you're right, geez. So like I shortened bill like he should buy as much as possible okay, okay.
Speaker 2so, moores, as you're more zen, glenn, as you're uh, looking around having this conversation, you do notice a small hatch at the back left corner of the building or of the room.
Speaker 6Wait, Glenn saw it with a 19 and Monty didn't see it with a 21?.
Speaker 2I didn't know you rolled a 21. Yes, you did see it Okay.
Speaker 4Everybody except for Nines saw it. Yes.
Speaker 3Nines wasn't looking. Nines was thinking about something else, anyway.
Speaker 6Praying Whatever.
Speaker 3Yelling no, uh, nines has an idea, oh boy. Nines says hey, what if we all ran and jumped and kind of like kicked the whole ship? That way.
Speaker 6No, nines, it might work, but first we should try that hatch over there and points to it on the ground, or we could try the hatch over there and points to it on the ground.
Speaker 4Or we could try the hatch.
Speaker 3Okay. Well, if the hatch doesn't work, we're doing the kicking thing right.
Speaker 6I love the idea and the enthusiasm. My friend.
Speaker 3Yeah, nines is going to pace out where he's going to jump.
Speaker 4Of course he is Alright.
Speaker 2So who's going to jump? Of course he is Alright. So who's going to open the hatch?
Speaker 4Glenn will check the hatch for traps.
Speaker 2Give me a Probably perception.
Speaker 4Thieves tools. Light a hand, not that. Check for traps, right, I don't know. Would you say perception, yes, 19.
Speaker 2Okay, so yeah, you do. Uh, you don't see any traps on the door, okay.
Speaker 6The uh, the checks from Glenn just got much harder.
Speaker 1Oh, I'm sorry. Did he get 28? Plus nine? Motherfucker Fuck.
Speaker 2But yeah, yeah, he's very good at that stuff.
Speaker 3Are you going to open the thing?
Speaker 4Yeah, sorry, glenn will look at the trap door or the hatch or whatever and he'll say that this hatch looks like it's safe. We can give it a shot. Are we done in here? I don't want to open this before we're done. Have we thoroughly searched this room?
Speaker 6Yes, yes, we are done here.
Speaker 4Okay, so we'll look around. We're ready to go, so Glenn will listen at the door and make sure he doesn't hear anything under, on the other side of it. Does he hear anything?
Speaker 2No, you do not Okay.
Speaker 4Uh, and then he will slowly open the hatch to look and looking through it. Okay.
Speaker 2So as you open the hatch, you do see what looks to be a rolled up ladder attached to the side of this little trunk, this wooden trunk, going down the side of the boat with a leather strap. It looks like you can undo the leather strap and this rolled up ladder will or this rope ladder will go down and go right to the edge of the shoreline of the river that this boat is on top of and to successfully get you to the bottom of the building, to the ground. That's the word I'm looking for.
Speaker 1Fuck.
Speaker 4So Glenn will look at it and kind of put his body between the group and the ladder and look over at Monty and say, hey, when you jump down you always land on your feet, right?
Speaker 6Every time, except for the 10th try.
Speaker 4How far down is it, Brandon?
Speaker 2It is about 80 feet to the ground.
Speaker 4How do you feel about an 80-foot drop?
Speaker 6I feel like I'd use my rope.
Speaker 4Oh, okay, that's probably a good idea. Why don't we use this ladder? Even better 80 foot's too excessive. I wouldn't let him jump that.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 4If it was like 30 foot, I'd let him give it a shot. Aim for the bushes? All right, so are we ready? So Glenn will cut the ladder. No, he will open up, pull the leather strap thingy to drop the ladder.
Speaker 1Pull the lever Kronk.
Speaker 2Okay, yeah, ladder falls to the ground. I thought that was very funny.
Speaker 4Now we're in trouble. The ladder fell.
Speaker 2The correct part of the ladder.
Speaker 4I fucking hate you so much, wrong lever um, actually no, you don't so much all right, so glenn will scurry down the ladder everybody else following him yes okay, disappointedly, disappointedly all right. So glenn will say up the ladder, try your kicking thing. No, he won't say that because he would freaking do it.
Speaker 2He would totally do it. Okay, so you get to the bottom of the ladder. We took the papers and book, right? Nobody said they did, but if you guys took it, I'm fine with that. Okay, okay.
Speaker 6Glenn's got them, so Mors does have some. Mors has the book, I'm pretty sure.
Speaker 2Mors does have some information that he has not yet shared with the group.
Speaker 5He's not going to do it while we're climbing a ladder.
Speaker 2Yes, hey guys, guess what I found. Okay, you all get to the bottom of the ladder, yay.
Speaker 3Yay, wait, can I pull the ship down by pulling on the ladder?
Speaker 4Give it a shot. What's your strength and what's your weight?
Speaker 3It doesn't matter. Nines is going to yank on the ladder a few times Just to see Like an 80 foot drop On the ship that's got to be crazy, unstable right.
Speaker 6We have no time for this. Let us go. We need to get to the wharf.
Speaker 3I just want to know what happens when I do it one time.
Speaker 2You're going to try to punch or kick.
Speaker 3Just yank on the ladder. There are too many pylons.
Speaker 2Sure, give me an athletics check.
Speaker 3Athletics plus zero. Thank you, I'm rolling a natural eight.
Speaker 2Oh, actually you can also give me an acrobatics, because you're a monk.
Speaker 3I am super monkey with a plus eight. Do you want me to keep the original eight for a 16? You can re-roll it, I'm re-rolling.
Speaker 1You'll never believe this Okay.
Speaker 2So, yeah, you dig down real deep inside of you all your years of training and you grab this ladder on both sides and yank as hard as you can and you hear a and the ladder pops off from the side and comes falling down on top of you a queef of parting leather?
Speaker 3is that it was yeah.
Speaker 4I don't think the sound you made is the sound we heard.
Speaker 2Oh, for our listeners. I said pop, but in a sound, yeah, like an onomatopoeic way.
Speaker 3Yeah, listeners, I said pop, but in a sound, yeah, like an onomatopoeic way. Yeah.
Speaker 6The sound that a pop filter literally prevents you from making. Way to go, good microphone.
Speaker 2It's a very good microphone. Sometimes it works. It doesn't work to my favor. Yeah, so the ladder falls on top of you, nines. So now this ladder is you're kind of in the middle of it. Part of the rope ladder is on the side of you. You're kind of in the middle of it. It's just all over the place.
Speaker 6Stop messing around. Come on, let's go.
Speaker 4How long would it take Glenn to wrap the ladder up?
Speaker 2To wrap an 80-foot ladder up. Yeah, I'm going to say five to ten minutes.
Speaker 4Okay, how about to just shove it in the bag of?
Speaker 2holding Longer than that If you're not wrapping it up at all and you're just trying to shove it in rung by rung, longer than that.
Speaker 4Okay.
Speaker 6Never knew an 80-foot ladder would come in handy.
Speaker 4I know.
Speaker 6Good idea. How much time did that take? I?
Speaker 3know that would have to be like 120 pounds man that would have to weigh so much.
Speaker 2I could not imagine An 80-foot ladder weighs 175 pounds.
Speaker 6But a bag of holding doesn't matter, right, there's no weight on that. The bag of holding doesn't matter but it just fell on knives.
Speaker 4I'm sorry, what was that?
Speaker 5It's got a 500-pound capacity, it does.
Speaker 6That's good to know. I've got a bunch of dead bodies in my bag of holding Anyway Nines' response, which I think I love what Monty said.
Speaker 3Nines' response would be to open his mouth and breathe in to reply and then say nothing and like try to disentangle himself and hurry up to catch up with the group.
Speaker 2Yeah, give me another acrobatics roll.
Speaker 3I'm gonna acrobatics the fuck out of this with a plus eight on a two.
Speaker 2Yeah, so you're a little overzealous and you try to catch up with the group as fast as possible. Your right foot catches on one of the ropes and you stumble, but you catch yourself right before falling and everybody sees up to the group as fast as possible. Uh, your right foot catches on one of the ropes and, uh, you stumble, but you catch yourself right before falling and everybody sees you stumble a little bit and you catch yourself and then run up to catch the rest of the group like I.
Speaker 3I look around and verify that everybody sees me oh yeah, yeah, you look up.
Speaker 2Everybody's staring right at you.
Speaker 6I can just see Nines dragging an 80-foot ladder through the tent Tied to a toilet, hopping on one foot.
Speaker 3Trying to disentangle his other foot.
Speaker 6Your walking speed is now 10 feet. Down from 50.
Speaker 3That's pretty good. That's quite the detriment. Okay. So if I am dragging an 80-foot ladder 10 feet per round while I'm coiling it, how much speed do I gain per round as I reel?
Speaker 2in the rope. Roll me a D10 at disadvantage.
Speaker 3A D10 at disadvantage Uh shit. Play stupid games, games get stupid yeah, yeah, not even win stupid prizes, be awarded hideously lopsided prizes how do?
Speaker 2I uh, just roll me two d10s. Well yeah, bottom left. Bottom left you can pick the dice symbol.
Speaker 3Oh, you know what I never did agree to the cookies, no thanks, couldn't. Can click the dice symbol. Oh, you know what? I never did agree to the cookies, no thanks, couldn't even see the dice symbol.
Speaker 2That's where I was with that, but they're chocolate chip.
Speaker 3Some dutch, and we're going to give this to everyone A five and a ten.
Speaker 2Your movement speed is five feet per. Your movement speed is five now If you're dragging the rope ladder behind you.
Speaker 3I'm going to shoot Glenn a serious. Look Like bro. Do you really want this fucking ladder? Please tell me I can make this happen, but it's gonna hurt.
Speaker 4Glenn will go just shake his head at night.
Speaker 2No, we can just buy a new ladder okay, thank god this monk that's used to being light on his feet and bouncing everywhere.
Speaker 1Isn't that like ugh, ugh.
Speaker 4So I just use the same mentality I use in real life.
Speaker 3No, that's too much work.
Speaker 4I'm just going to buy a new one, I'll just pay. I'll just give you money.
Speaker 3What's that? No money.
Speaker 2I'm just going to money that. All right, so you're at the bottom of the ladder. Nines has finally untangled himself from the rope. What would you all like to do?
Speaker 5What's around us? Are we in the bottom of a dry dock?
Speaker 3We're on the beach now, or the shore of the river.
Speaker 2Yeah, you're on the shore of the river of the city.
Speaker 3The same place that we were before, when we were looking up at the ship on 80 foot stilts, which, I want to remind everyone. That is insane, connected to the warehouse, and so we should probably bag ass is what I'm thinking.
Speaker 6Monty will want to move to the wharf.
Speaker 4How did we get from the second story of the warehouse?
Speaker 6to a floating ship 80 foot there was a gangplank on a 90 over 1 incline.
Speaker 4A 45 degree angle.
Speaker 2I like how you guys just fought two flesh golems and a guy that can turn invisible. But the issue that you have Side comments Require no reply.
Speaker 3It's all rhetorical, let me bitch.
Speaker 2I like playing with my in-person group. They're dumb. I don't question anything, I say.
Speaker 6That's the intro for this video.
Speaker 3Actually, at 9.8 meters per second squared, that sort of fall would deal way more than 300 d6.
Speaker 4Alright, I'm gonna, unfortunately agree with Nines. We should bag it.
Speaker 3Yeah, let's go.
Speaker 1Not the latter, you know.
Speaker 3Yeah, you know, everyone's having a bad time.
Speaker 6Monty's already hustling into the city.
Speaker 3I agree with Nines.
Speaker 2So you all successfully retreat to the wharf, and what would you like to do? What?
Speaker 4time is it.
Speaker 2It is, the moon is just coming up.
Speaker 3That doesn't tell me what time it is retreat to the wharf and what would you like to do? What time is it? The moon is just coming up. That doesn't tell me what time it is. The sun has gone down, the moon has come up. The moon is coming up, and long ago somebody left with a rope ladder.
Speaker 2My cupeth floweth over.
Speaker 6Striving. Yeah. So, Monty, I guess, kind of pulled the group together and say so do we want to continue trying to pursue Zarvi's innocence, or see if maybe these rubies are enough to buy our passage to get to Deadpelt Shadows? I worry, if we continue down this path we will not have time to answer the call of Mors' mother.
Speaker 5That's a good point. We do have two different deadlines from what you guys have explained to me. Oh, that reminds me. I wanted to mention that when we first came into town here at Crystal Deep, save Haven, I noticed a map of the area that showed one of the prominent features in the low quarter was a place called Father's Lamp, which I think that note we found referred to. So if we can find passage, that's great, and if not, maybe we check that out. What called Father's Lamp? Some location I didn't really investigate, we kind of hung together until I vanished, but I think that's what the note said too. Maybe it's some kind of temple or church.
Speaker 3I actually I've. Hey, I've been meaning to ask you about that. Where did you go?
Speaker 5Oh, um, I'm not sure where exactly, but I'm kind of just hanging out with Eldath. She's a very welcoming, it's nice. Oh, and who is Sam? I don't know, I haven't met her.
Speaker 3Uh-huh you should talk to her. She's kind of cool. You should meet her. I'll introduce you. And what do the rocks tell you?
Speaker 5Well, I actually haven't talked to any for a while, but sometimes they do talk back and I'm actually looking for more that do. That could be the key to all of our well, some of our problems oh, I'm gonna need to meditate on that.
Speaker 3That's very interesting. Wait, what were we doing?
Speaker 1so I.
Speaker 6I believe we were going to try to find passage, and if that fails we should head on to father's lamp how about?
Speaker 4how about I go check out and see if I can bribe our way onto a ship? I think I have a better chance of doing it without you guys.
Speaker 3Normally yes. Normally everything's easier without us, as it turns out.
Plans and Passage Discussion With Thornwell
Speaker 4But I also want to be part of the discussion. How about when we talk to whatever that investigator lady's name was?
Speaker 6Thornwell.
Speaker 4Thornwell.
Speaker 6Investigator.
Speaker 4Thornwell, if we talk to her and see if Constable Constable. Juke. Oh yeah, constable Juke, see, if this is enough proof to reopen the investigation and we can tell her that she doesn't have to worry about Counselor Jory or whatever Dory Dory impeding the investigation, that will no longer be a problem. We heard that he suffered an accident.
Speaker 3Maybe we don't. Nines agrees wholeheartedly.
Speaker 5I just thought of one more thing.
Speaker 3I only glanced over, if that tells you anything.
Speaker 2Nines agrees with you. Everybody else disagrees immediately.
Speaker 4Go ahead.
Speaker 1Justin, sorry, justin, go ahead.
Speaker 5Glenn, when you looked at that note, was it dated or marked in any kind of way to tell you when it was? It said in three weeks' time, but three weeks from when, I wonder. I mean it also mentioned the murder stopping. How long ago did Jarme get murdered? If that was the point I'm trying to get a good picture of this timeline.
Speaker 4Jarme was executed. What three days ago, two days ago? Is that right, brandon?
Speaker 2Correct.
Speaker 4Which Two or three.
Speaker 2Three days ago.
Speaker 4So Jarmie was executed three days ago. The last murder happened two days ago. So that note couldn't have been Well, I guess, logically speaking, it could have. There could have been well, I guess, logically speaking, it could have. There could have been a previous pause to the killings.
Speaker 5Yeah, where did? The killings originally start.
Speaker 6The map mentioned three weeks, but we don't know when the map started.
Speaker 4Oh, true, that was the map that said three weeks.
Speaker 6So Monty has the map. He'll pull out the map and take a look at it and see if there's any date on it.
Speaker 2There's no date.
Speaker 4Is there any kind of secret markings on it that Glenn would recognize from?
Speaker 2his shadowy background Give me a perception. Check 19?. You don't see anything.
Speaker 4If you make things harder because I can get a 10 on everything, that's just not fair.
Speaker 6I'm not. There's just nothing there, okay, okay.
Speaker 4Well, regardless, regardless, I think we should try to find out that 500 gold pieces will get us to dead pal cheddars so, based on glenn's forgery ability, he should be able to tell if this map was drawn around the same time as that note was written uh, you can't tell, you can't tell three weeks, so here Three weeks to the day.
Speaker 2So here's what you guys know right now. You guys know that something is being risen or something is growing up. The young one is feeding. The murders will continue unless you stop this young one feeding, because somebody is going to continue giving sacrifices to this creature. So, based off of that, uh, you can try to convince. I'm just giving you some options. You can try to convince. Um, shit, I forgot her name again or wow jude yeah, thornwell.
Speaker 2You can try to convince thornwell that you solve the issue. Uh, you can try to convince her that dory is no longer going to be a a thorn in this, but you still have not solved the murders or proved Jarmy's innocence. You can try to bribe your way onto a ship with your 500 gold pieces, though you know from past experience that there are no strangers, that they're unwilling to take strangers on board. Or you can try to follow through and go to the temple.
Speaker 2Those are your four options right now, or you can walk away from all of this and go do something else, which I always have to take as an option.
Speaker 4I think we should go check out the orc town.
Speaker 6There's a town we saw on the way.
Speaker 2I'm ready. I'm ready.
Speaker 3He's been ready for 73 episodes for you guys to visit this fucking orc town.
Speaker 6What's Aznor up to these days?
Speaker 2You know, every time you guys ask me, I just see that Spongebob meme. Did we gain a level? Get out of here.
Speaker 4So Glenn says I think we should give this evidence to Constable Jute or Counselor Thornwell. I should see if we can meet up with them, give them this information. Can't see anything, it's just a bright light.
Speaker 3What really do we have, though? Just that Dory was a cultist or wanted to be a cultist.
Speaker 4Well that this is the reason for the murders. Okay, they're raising the young one presumably to be the incarnation of there is Dune, nope, yeah, yep, ah, there is Dune.
Speaker 3So enlist the local government to help us with the problem in three weeks, or do we ignore this because any excitement is just distracting us from our true objective right now?
Speaker 4well, we could try to convince what's her name, thornwell to give us passage to this thing that is going to happen in three days and we can promise that we'll come back and continue our investigation. But this thing that's happening in three days is kind of it's happening in three days.
Speaker 3Wait, how long does it take to get to Dead Pell Shadows?
Speaker 2I have no idea. Half day's travel?
Speaker 4Yeah, I think we should at least learn that from a past time, so that from a pastime, yeah so we have a day that'll give us two days to solve that end of the world catastrophe, to come back and save this end of the world's catastrophe I like.
Speaker 6I like the idea. We've we've never left a place making a promise and not held it.
Speaker 4Well, yeah.
Speaker 6He thinks back to many horses, pigs, traveling companions, small goblins.
Speaker 4The instantaneous opening to the freaking adventure and saying, yep, we're out.
Speaker 3We're the heroes of Nines will say listen, guys, I know I'm new here, but since we already don't have a way to the island, maybe we just keep going. Because, this is also a way to the island.
Speaker 6I believe the six rupees that we found are our way to the island, oh. Divine intervention derailing us and putting us on a straight and narrow path.
Speaker 2The road less traveled. If you are the one time I give you guys fucking gold, it completely derails the story. Yeah, right.
Speaker 3Are rubies important to sailors around here?
Speaker 4So, glenn, with his knowledge of their ability, you know the value of these rubies. And what does he think? The likelihood of 500 gold pieces buying us passage? I don't know what Bill's thoughts are.
Speaker 2So 500 gold pieces. You're pretty confident that you can get yourself passage anywhere you want. A group all four of you, probably not very high. You probably get one or two of you passage. So okay, so four of you probably not very high.
Speaker 4You probably get one or two of you passage. Okay. So with that knowledge, glenn will say why don't we engage with Thornwell and Jute? See where that goes. And if we still, tomorrow, aren't on our way to Deep Pelt Shadows, then explore the opportunity to explore the possibility of using the rubies to bypassage.
Speaker 6Sounds good.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, okay. So what is the party's decision?
Speaker 6Monty is first check with Thornwell. Tell her we did good enough. Give us passage.
Speaker 4That is not what Glenn is going to say, so Glenn will send a text, but that's the gist of it, right, yes.
Speaker 2So you guys go back to the.
Speaker 4I don't know, I don't have my notes. The bar there was a funny name that you gave it, but I don't remember what it was yeah, you guys head back to the Bard Rock Cafe. That was right. There was a funny name man.
Speaker 3I spent weeks not remembering that and I was so much happier.
Speaker 2Okay. So yeah, you guys head back to the Bard Rock Cafe. You do see Counselor Thornwell in there and she is having a drink, talking to a. She's talking to a dwarf and, Glenn, you don't recognize the language she's speaking. Oh, Jesus, fucking Christ.
Speaker 4Glenn kills the dwarf. This is when are we at. What's the name of?
Speaker 2the town? You? What's the name of the town? I know where you're going with this already, so this is called.
Speaker 5I got you. It's Crystal Deep, safe Haven. Thank you.
Speaker 4This is Crystal Deep Safe Haven. We speak common here. All right, continuing on. Wow, I'm assuming it's Dwarven. I would assume that, having spent weeks in freaking, yeah, you do recognize some words in Dwarven.
Speaker 2For some reason you keep picking up the word apples. So quick side story, A joke between my wife and myself. I started doing Duolingo in Spanish to try to re-familiarize myself with Spanish, because I haven't taken it since high school.
Speaker 3You tried to saba, saba, saba saba.
Speaker 2Saba, saba, saba, saba, saba, saba saba that was. That was like three years ago, and then I stopped because I got bored of it. Honestly, and the only thing I really remember from it is manzanas, which is apples, because I I switched my duolingo to german because I'm speaking to a lot of german people because of my job right now. Yeah, exactly so. Uh, I say all the time, as soon as I hear spanish, I'm like do you hear what he just said?
Speaker 3manzanas, ah, so dumb, so dumb all right so then we'll walk up.
Speaker 4Uh, so is. Is Mors agreeable to this Plan of action?
Speaker 5Yeah, mors is here.
Speaker 4So Glenn will walk up to the Thornwell and kind of Look at the side eye at the dwarf and look at Thornwell and side eye at the dwarf and then walk over to the bar.
Speaker 2Uh yeah, counselor Thornwell, you hear her saying in common if you'll excuse me, master Dwarf, I have to have a moment with my companions and you hear an affirmative in common, of course, and he steps away, and so she is sitting at a table by herself at the moment.
Speaker 4Okay, so, uh, grendel by herself at the moment. Okay, so, go ahead and we'll head over to the table.
Speaker 2Okay, I'm assuming, since you're back, that you have found the culprit.
Speaker 4Yes, so we found a lot of evidence pointing us in the direction of a cult and we also have removed or no, sorry, we did not remove. We also found out that Council of Dory will not bother you anymore. The reason behind the murders is that they are trying to summon a god or an avatar of a god, not necessarily a god, so they're trying to pull this. Uh, what are you laughing at?
Speaker 2nothing.
Speaker 4I'm ready for a response oh continue so he will say that um so, based on their, what we found is that there's going to be a god in three weeks-ish, give or take, as long as they continue these murders that are happening. So you'll soon have more murders that will prove Jory's, jormy's, jormy's innocence, because the murders will continue.
Speaker 2So I just want to make sure I understand you found out that Dory isn't doing it and the murders are going to continue.
Speaker 4No, no, no. I found out that Dory is promoting it happening but he will not be, doing that anymore, but it's a cult. So there are more than just cults. By their nature include more than one person.
Speaker 3Actually, counselor, may I just real quick, obviously stepping in, can I just interject? It feels like the rest of this is really hard and we really just want to get to Dead Pell Chattos.
Speaker 6So you must accuse my friend. He has been visiting the other tavern quite regularly.
Speaker 4Something just fell on his head.
Speaker 2So Thornwell, at seeing Nines approach, stands up and you see her a little flushed and she says, oh, I didn't see you come in, so what's a deadpelt shadows and everything else is lost to her. She is totally focused on nines right now.
Speaker 3Oh well, dead Pelt Shadows is a island where there is a thing that is important to us and me more specifically, but all of us generally also and we need to go there in less than three days me more specifically, but all of us generally also and we need to go there in less than three days, but no more than three weeks.
Speaker 2So well, I I'm normally deadpelt shadows takes a half a day to get there. I'm I'm sure I can find you a faster vessel, but I'm also sure that as handsome as you are, I'm sorry I must find you a faster vessel, but I'm also sure that as handsome as you are, I'm sorry, I must stick to my guns. It's very important that we solve the issue here. You can't just leave me and more of my citizens die.
Political Intrigue and Cult Investigations
Speaker 3Oh yeah, but again, that sounds really difficult, though, and we only have a few days. So, yeah, as my friend is saying, good luck. We wish you the best. The murders will continue, and then you'll know for sure that there is still a murder out there which, if you think about it, that's what you hired us for, and now we deserve a reward. So vote please.
Speaker 6The murders will continue until morale improves.
Speaker 4So Glenn will step in again and say okay, hold on, we have information, there is a temple and it is. He will tell her where it is.
Speaker 3I'm echoing yeah, up the coast or whatever. Can you hear me?
Speaker 4New headset, weird modes. So yeah, there's a temple on the coast, that is where it's happening. So if you want to, we could. If you give us some city guard, we can go storm the temple. I would love to give you want to, we could, if you give us some city guard we can go storm the temple.
Speaker 2I would love to give you city guard, but if you think, don't you think that if I could dedicate the city guard I wouldn't have needed you in the first place?
Speaker 1Well, hold on hold on.
Speaker 4But now you don't have to worry about Counselor Dory anymore.
Speaker 2He had his own followers. People supported him in his movements. Just because Dory's removed doesn't mean that I'm going to be able to take the guard and do things.
Speaker 3No, no, no, I don't think you understand Council. Woman person removed isn't just exactly what Dory is, but like unbreathing removed right.
Speaker 2You know, every time I look at you I have to remind myself that you are God. You're handsome, that's like Good thing. I'm not looking for a long-term relationship here, I just want just like one or two nights with you.
Speaker 3But God damn, you're dumb, wait, but Okay, so you get it though. We're good, okay, glenn councilwoman. Okay, continue, sorry. Yeah, I'll back out, how about?
Speaker 6monty you'll take care of legends moors and says let's go get the drink and start walking, walking towards the bar.
Speaker 5I'll come with you guys. I think it's been a few days for me.
Speaker 4Go ahead.
Speaker 5Glenn.
Speaker 4With the information that we've given her. Does she have any extra information that she can provide? I understand that we are your primary investigators in this case, but you've got to have other people doing stuff.
Speaker 2Yeah. So she's going to say I can tell you. I know exactly what you're talking about. I know the location you're talking about, down at Frother's Lamp. I can tell you exactly where that is. We also know that is a cult. But I can't, because I'm part of the council. I can't send guards there, not until there's an approved vote. That's why I hired a third party.
Speaker 4So if we ensure that you will always win the vote, how many? Council members are there.
Speaker 2You cannot kill the other council members.
Speaker 4Oh, no, no, no, not killing anybody.
Speaker 3How do you guys feel about print news media? That's the only other thing I can think of.
Speaker 4Bill you're going to start this political shit-talking campaign.
Speaker 6Mug-slinging propaganda.
Speaker 1Make Chris and Raven drink shit talking campaign muds clinging propaganda for our listeners.
Speaker 2For our listeners, there was supposed to be two, maybe three fights tonight oh my god you did not breadcrumb
Speaker 4breadcrumb, us two and even fights.
Speaker 2I didn't breadcrumb you. I gave you a map, I gave you the location, I gave you but our primary goal is to go to deadpelt shadows not to go take on a temple.
Speaker 6You gave us money too alright.
Speaker 4So, councilwoman Thornwell, do you want us to just go storm the temple, the four of us?
Speaker 2I don't recommend storming it, but yes, I would like you to go investigate.
Speaker 4Okay, fine, we'll go investigate the temple. What more information do you have?
Speaker 2I can tell you where it is, and I can also tell you that every time I've sent somebody else there, they've disappeared.
Speaker 4Okay, okay, go ahead Well, I think there's two different places right.
Speaker 5There's the temple up the coast and there's a place in town, in the city. So there's like a right Temple of.
Speaker 2Therizdun is on the coast.
Speaker 3You're talking about the cult presence in the city?
Speaker 5I think Didn't she say that there was Frother's Lamp is in the city. I think Didn't she say that there was Frother's Lamp is in the city? Frother's Lamp is in the city where the cult is present. There's also a temple up the coast, a ways right.
Speaker 2Frother's Lamp is on the coast.
Speaker 5Frother's Lamp is the place, same place. Frother's Lamp is the temple.
Speaker 2Yes, that's the place. Yes, Frother's Lamp is. Files are in the computer.
Speaker 3Yeah, but this to be fair until very recently when the councilwoman just said Father's Lamp. That's the first time that I put it together.
Speaker 6I mean. So Monty, kind of hearing all this, he's starting to get a bit agitated and he just slams his drink down on the counter quite loudly and says Glenn, forget it, she is just a worthless politician, we should leave. Let's go through Frother's Lamp and let's deal with this our way. I've got little time or patience for any of their political nonsense. And he storms out of the bar.
Speaker 4So, uh, I guess we're gonna go take care of a cult.
Speaker 2Thank you, that's all I ever wanted.
Speaker 1Um if that's all you ever wanted could you have you know?
Speaker 4said that at the beginning. You know where the temple is.
Speaker 5You know the cult's behind it instead you send us cult's behind it. Instead you send us on this investigation thing.
Speaker 4Fine, we'll go kill your damn cult we did go.
Speaker 3We came to this information in a completely different way. I think if we had just asked Thorn Woman first, that maybe she would have told us. But we gained most of this independently, which makes it even more concrete and more imperative that we go. Yeah, we involve ourselves in the story that is laid out before us.
Speaker 4I mean we're not gonna actually go kill them as he looks at Mors. We're gonna go convince them the error of their ways.
Speaker 6Was violence though right. Monty's pretty down for violence right now.
Speaker 4Yeah, but you're not here and I don't want.
Speaker 2Mors to. What does Mors say to that?
Speaker 5Mors is just like slowly sipping his beer, like trying to piece together all this nonsense that's happening, just likeaking his head slowly.
Speaker 3No guys, seriously, I trained for so long to punch people in the face and to get punched in the face Like that's kind of my deal.
Speaker 2So as you're talking, nines Thornwell walks up to you and she just places her hand on your shoulder and she says please just come back safe, just one night, one night, that's all I'm asking.
Speaker 4I thought she was going to put her hand on his shoulder. So dumb, so dumb.
Speaker 3Nines will look at Counselor Thornlund. Oh, you want to come back.
Speaker 2I do want to come back. Yes, don't fucking lean into this god damn dude I was on a submarine, bro, you're not going to scare me yeah, no, I'd like for the listeners, for the listeners, little brandon on brandon action no no no, it's big brandon on little brandon.
Speaker 3I'll let you decide which is which. Which one's big Brandon?
Speaker 6You guys are pretty much both the same size.
Speaker 3Well as far as you guys know.
Speaker 2Brandon's got a huge dick.
Speaker 3No, no, no, you got it backwards. I am a huge dick. Oh, that's right.
Speaker 2I was yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6He was talking about himself.
Speaker 4Yeah, I wasn't sure which way that he was talking about.
Speaker 6I'm a third person regularly. Because the Irish are known for the.
Speaker 2Irish curse oh no, all right, so let's Monty's out the door, okay, as Nines walks past that. Counselor Thornwell, you feel a sharp slap on your ass.
Speaker 3And you get to take another attack roll. Yeah, can I use my reaction to not react? Do I have to spend?
Speaker 2a key point. Give me a constitution saving throw.
Speaker 3I'm gonna, constitution saving, throw the shit out of this with my plus two. God damn it. I rolled a four Does a six do it.
Speaker 2So, though you try as you might, you do flinch a little bit, and she gets the reaction she wanted, and you hear a little giggle behind you.
Speaker 3That's because my butt's so tight. I get it yeah.
Speaker 2Yes, that ass is so sharp she's going to cut her hand, slapping those cheeks Alright.
Speaker 3Alright, no sound. I'm going to throw an X up on that. We're going to not. We're going to not, alright.
Speaker 2Hey, can you actually just delete?
Speaker 3that last thing that you said, I'm leaving it there Probably better.
Speaker 4So is that dwarf still in the bar. Yes, so glenn is gonna go pick its pocket.
Speaker 6I'm just kidding, let's go monty doesn't know where he's walking, but he's kind of pissed at this point, so he's walking okay, how long will it take to get to the temple? Proctor'samp 30 minutes, not the temple.
Speaker 4So we'll get there around 11.15 or so.
Speaker 2In real time. Yes, Alright.
Speaker 4I say we go to Frother's Lamp and kill some folks.
Speaker 6Monty's heading that way already.
Speaker 4Convince them of the error of their ways.
Speaker 2So the only one in the party that actually knows where this is is Morse.
Speaker 6Yeah, that's why Monty is kind of just walking off.
Speaker 4Did we not all have the map, or is this a different?
Speaker 6map. No, Morse saw it on a map.
Speaker 2You have all the map, but Morse is the one that recognized where it was.
Speaker 4Oh, okay, Okay. So Councilor Thornwell is freaking useless.
Speaker 2She's a politician.
Speaker 4Yeah, hey, there's people that Politicians sometimes are worth full.
Speaker 2This one isn't.
Speaker 6Alright, so she's gonna die. Nines might disagree.
Speaker 4Alright, so Is Morse coming with us.
Speaker 5Definitely. Once Everyone starts walking besides like Monty left and Morse just like watched him leave while he sipped his beer and then once everyone else is up and leaving, yeah, morse will just like pay for the beers that we just sucked down real quick and then we'll walk out the door. Sorry.
Speaker 1I'll apologize for.
Speaker 3Monty.
Speaker 2Morse is just looking around. I gotta pay again.
Speaker 3He has no money. Welcome back to reality, bitch. Hope you liked your vacation.
Speaker 6Does having to pay for our tab make you mad, Morse?
Speaker 2You feel anger staring in your chest.
Speaker 6Turns into salmon. Now we don't know where the hell we're going. Whoops, yeah, all right.
Speaker 4So once we get outside, glenn will say Bors, where is this temple?
Speaker 5It was up north along the coast. I think the path actually leads right to it.
Speaker 6Just looking at the we're not going to the temple, we're going to the Frother's Lamp. You are going to the coast. I think the path actually leads right to it, just looking at the overlay. We're not going to the temple, we're going to the Frother's Lamp.
Speaker 2You are going to the temple. The temple is in Frother's Lamp Frother's.
Speaker 6Lamp is the district the temple resides in the district. So Monty chose to start walking south.
Speaker 3That wasn't clear dude, that's what I'm telling you. Got it I?
Speaker 6thought Frother's Lamp was like a place in the city. It was a bar. I said it at least three times.
Speaker 3No, you didn't say it was the district.
Speaker 6Okay. So, monty, he comes out the door and he starts heading south.
Speaker 4All right, Actually east, so Glenn will turn and look at Mors. Hey, can you get Monty?
Speaker 5Yeah, I will attempt to send a message to Monty, which will go 120 feet.
Speaker 6Hopefully Monty isn't just like booking it, he's pissed walking but he's not going to do it.
Speaker 2Full-blown sprint and I was running.
Speaker 1From that day on Monty where are?
Speaker 5you oh running Go ahead. Justin Monty, where are you? It says via message.
Speaker 6I am just upset and I'm heading to Frother's Lamp, but I am just all of a sudden realizing I have no idea where it is at well, I get that message back.
Speaker 5I'll message him again. Why don't you come back to the bar and we can all go together?
Speaker 6Monty will, kind of, in a frustrated storm, turn around and head back to the bar and we can all go together. Monty will, in a frustrated storm, turn around and head back to the bar.
Unexpected Ambush at Jay's Island
Speaker 2Monty, while you're having this conversation, something stirs inside of you. I turn into Sam. Through all the practice that you've had and finally having Mors directly communicate with you after you've been trying for so long, you feel a piece of you unlock and now you're able to cast message freely so you can add message as a cantrip. You can cast.
Speaker 3That's pretty sweet dude.
Speaker 6I've been working on this one for fucking two years. Two years.
Speaker 1Two years.
Speaker 6And you think he wanted it just to be able to pick up girls. All right, I'll add it in.
Speaker 3Thanks, how long do Tabaxi live? They must have. I mean, I suppose that style of gameplay only affects things to a certain extent.
Speaker 2Equivalent to humans, so about 80 years.
Speaker 3Okay, I thought it might have been some dog year weirdness, no.
Speaker 5They do it nine times, though right. What's that? They do it nine times, though right? Is it true? Yes, nine times 80.
Speaker 3There we go.
Speaker 6Okay, so Monty walks back to the bar and kind of meets up with the group. Which way are we going?
Speaker 5Mostly north, point down towards the main path leading out of town and then back to the main road and we'll head north along the path. Well, I suggest we go north along the path Monty heads that direction.
Speaker 4I had food in my mouth so I couldn't say it fast enough.
Speaker 3Glenn was going to point back the way Monty came. Yeah, let's go, let's get there.
Speaker 5From what it looks like, it should only be about a 30 minute walk, so we should make it before midnight.
Speaker 3Unless we run, unless you run, nine starts sprinting.
Speaker 4Blind catches up to them.
Speaker 2Do the rest of you run.
Speaker 3I got 50 feet walking speed. Blind's a rogue. I mean yeah, unfair, they cheat.
Speaker 5More, spins down and pulls a pair of antlers out of his bag. They cheat, yeah, great Morse. Bends down and pulls a pair of antlers out of his bag.
Speaker 2Hell yeah, monty, do you run to keep up with him?
Speaker 6Yeah, Monty's going to do anything he can to keep up with him. I'm also going to probably go ahead and do some cure wounds stuff as well.
Speaker 2Yeah, you're a little hurt.
Speaker 6I'm a little hurt, but he's pissed off too. Okay, Glennon's going yeah, you're a little hurt. I'm a little hurt, but he's pissed off too.
Speaker 4Okay, leonard's going to drink his healing potion. Do you have a healing potion? You already nodded, so yes, I do. No, you don't.
Speaker 2By the law of verbal trust. I was like wait a minute, All right.
Speaker 4We have not been anywhere that sells healing potions.
Speaker 2The 30-minute walk turned into about a 10-minute run, a jog if you will to Jay's Island. And as you approach you start feeling a subtle change within the atmosphere around you. So you start feeling this increased intensity as you draw nearer to your fathers. And it seems like the land itself is is recoiling from this area where you once saw fertile earth. It's cracked and dry. It's almost like it's drained of life itself. The colors are pretty washed out. You see dull grays and sickly Browns dominating the landscape. The air grows thick with palpable sense of dread. It's a faint, ever-present hum, thrums, just beneath the surface of hearing more felt than heard.
Speaker 2The structure before you emerges from the gloom as you get closer. It's almost alien, disturbing. It's twisted into unnatural angles. It looks like a ship at one point, but it's been changed into a way that you only barely recognize it as a ship. And it has a sheen on the outside of it. That's both. You see, uh, a wood grain, and you see a ship's hull the front of a ship. Uh, come out of the mist and there's a bridge that connects the land to this ship. And then, as you approach, you see, you see two creatures standing in front of you, before the door. So if you all wouldn't mind, I'm going to launch this game Start session. You should be able to join now.
Speaker 6Can Monty identify these two guys at the door?
Speaker 2Yes, so you see them and they are. What you see is you've seen them before in Dory, but these are more transformed and you recognize them almost immediately as scooms.
Speaker 6So when we are about 500 feet away, Monty's going to shoot three times at both of them.
Speaker 4I was kind of expecting us to stop before we got there and prepare for a fight.
Speaker 2I've got 600 feet Go fuck yourself.
Speaker 6I've got 600 feet of range. I've never used it. Monty's pissed. He's taking the. He's gonna use it now. These guys are gonna see it coming, give me six attack rolls all right, uh two, oh, and let me keep clicking 3. 18., 29. 21. That's 3. Oh my gosh, it's literally not letting me just spam, click it 27.
Speaker 3This is as we're approaching the district.
Speaker 2Yeah, so the rest of you see, monty, just pull his bow and start pulling and just start shooting arrows 25.
Speaker 1Those are all really good Legolessing into the distance.
Speaker 2So Monty, you only hit two of those.
Speaker 3That's pretty cool though.
Speaker 2No, I'm just kidding. You hit all of them.
Speaker 1You hit all of them.
Speaker 4Glenda's going to turn around and run the other way.
Speaker 2You hit all, give me some damage rolls.
Speaker 6To make this easier, I'm going to do 6d8. Okay, and we're going to add 30 to this number. And then there's more. This is divided between the two people. Oh man, that was really bad actually. Well, 56 plus some cold damage. So 56 plus 14, 70. 70 damage to the blue guys Split between the two. From the woods.
Speaker 4Set 35 each.
Speaker 2Okay. So yeah, they Monty. You see them both fall to the ground.
Speaker 6That'll do. Monty keeps walking and kind of tries to hustle to catch up with the group, as he was just lobbing arrows over their head as they're approaching this place.
Speaker 2Nobody questions Monty at all. They're fine with him just pulling out the bow, shooting at shit, just going.
Speaker 5When he said it was kind of misty. Could we even see them from where we were?
Speaker 4Yeah, could we even see the things? Yeah, you could all see them.
Speaker 6yeah, Monty asked if he could recognize what they were, and he said they were scooms, so we knew that they were scooms.
Speaker 2Yes, Glenn is going to be fine with that.
Speaker 3Why are you trying to start shit bro?
Speaker 4Other than the frustration that Glenn tends to want to get a little bit more information before he starts fighting, am I?
Speaker 1going to have to roll initiative. Want to get a little bit more information before he starts fighting.
Speaker 3But yeah, am I going to have to roll initiative. I'm going to pop some 20s right quick.
Speaker 6Monty will say do you want to lure the rest of them outside? I will stay right here and keep firing.
Speaker 4Glenn will go up there and start looking for more people to fight.
Speaker 3Yeah, I need to be closer so that I can punch them in the face.
Speaker 4Yeah, I need to be closer so that I can stab them.
Speaker 6Are you guys going to go inside or stay?
Speaker 5out here. Well, I think if we're going to learn anything, we'll have to be inside, inside of what exactly?
Speaker 4There's a door right there, yeah, so as you cross the bridge you do see that the very front of the ship.
Speaker 2These two scooms are guarding a door that leads to the inside.
Speaker 6You know what?
Speaker 3I was still theater of the minding Yep, and I hadn't even looked at the map, which I think might tell you something brothers, those guys ain't guarding nothing, no more.
Speaker 4So Glen is going to check on the scoops and make sure they're actually dead.
Speaker 2Yeah, loot the bodies.
Speaker 3Okay, okay, so we are crossing this river.
Speaker 2Yeah, so you do cross this rickety bridge over the channel river, right yeah, so there's the ship hulk. You do cross this rickety bridge over to the channel and to the bow of the ship.
Speaker 3And so this ship is just kind of built into the architecture of the surrounding buildings.
Speaker 2Correct, yep. So what you see around you, it's a tangled wall of apartments and storefronts that rises up on either side of the channel. The channel itself is sluggish and tainted water. You do see that the structures down near the waterline are empty and desolate, while the ramshackle additions that are built on top of those appear progressively more inhabitable as they rise up into the sky. The overall effect is that of a canyon, with walls made of a cross-section of a decaying shanty town rather than from stone. There's a narrow timber bridge that sags across the channel that leads from the back of the alley to where you came from, to the partially sunken galley of the ship, whose structure has been incorporated into the ruined jumble of buildings.
Speaker 4So is this a populated area of the town?
Speaker 2There are people that live near here.
Speaker 3yes, Are these? Yeah, but is this like the slums? I know that this is Frother's Lamp.
Speaker 2This is like this is the slums. This is the ghetto of.
Speaker 4Even worse than the original slum that we were in.
Speaker 1They have highways.
Speaker 6This is the place that'd be under the highway bridge.
Speaker 2This is Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard.
Speaker 3Oh Okay, I get it. Can you actually delete that?
Speaker 4Because so is this area. So Glenn is listening. Does he hear people living here, or just temple people?
Speaker 2You generally feel a sense of tension in the air. You don't hear any people. You hear some doors shutting here and there windows slamming, shut the shutters themselves coming closed, but you don't hear any people.
Speaker 4You hear some doors shutting here and there windows slamming shut the shutters themselves coming closed but you don't hear any people. It's not temple people, but gutter people. Glenn turns and looks and says so how important is getting information? As he starts rummaging around in his bag.
Speaker 6You look over and you see Monty kind of standing on the bow of this boat, in front of the door with his bow drawn and says that nothing necessary we haven't seen this version of monty in a long time.
Speaker 5He pulls out a snake so glenn looks at moores moores just like kind of raises his hands up, like, uh, we could have probably talked our way in. I have this book of enchantments that says, well, it's too late now.
Speaker 4I mean, these are monsters, Not really. I mean, they're scoons. So I'm just wondering if we should just remove this section of town.
Speaker 3It's an M right as in Mike. Can you spell it for me? What?
Speaker 2Scoom yeah, Scoom S-K-U-M Is that. Scum. T-r-a-c-u-m. He's more like Scum.
Speaker 3Like Scum. I imagine the U is umlauted. Okay, I just like the sounds that you were making felt, okay.
Speaker 4Alright, so Glenn will sneak around towards the door Not sneak, but kind of walk around the scoom and look in the door. Are the doors shut? The doors are shut, okay. Well, listen, then Is there a keyhole. Oh I'm sorry, Go ahead.
Speaker 5How big is this whole structure Like now that we're in front of the doors, like relative to something that we might be familiar with? Is it a football stadium big? Is it an older Catholic church big? Is it a trailer park double wide?
Speaker 2So it is. The bow of this ship is about 150 feet long to the door, from the very front of it to the door, and about 40 feet wide.
Speaker 3Bull nose or just the nose I guess you could say about 100 different things.
Speaker 5Okay, and then the structure that it's built into is like two stories, three stories, ten stories.
Speaker 2It is, you see. You see it is about. You see, three different structures built on top of this, so at least three stories high, that you don't know how deep it goes.
Speaker 3Damn Same Actually. Can you delete that no?
Speaker 4So okay.
Speaker 5So Morser says I'm surprised you guys didn't just suggest burning it down. With the way you guys have been acting.
Speaker 4Glenn kind of guiltily looks up from his hand in his bag. I don't know what you're talking about he slowly pulls his hand out of his bag and releases the barrel of oil back into his bag of holding Flask of oil. Okay, I was actually considering doing that, as I'm sure you understood. So Glenn will listen at the door.
Speaker 2So you don't hear anything inside the door. You do hear what sounds like some water moving, almost like it's lapping against the side of a hall. But the main deck around you? It's a ruined galley. It's been completely buckled. It's cluttered with different trash, driftwood refuse that's been washed up by the tide. The prow juts into the channel. The prow juts into the channel and the west side of the deck disappears into a wall of boarded up and badly weathered buildings.
Speaker 4And a door.
Speaker 6And a door. It's kind of like for the viewers, uh, or the listeners, whatever medium you're consuming this on. It's like a, a ship that's run aground and then turned into building yeah, the ship ran aground and they went.
Speaker 4Oh, I guess we live here now yeah, we'll turn this into our building all right. So is there any holes or anything in the door?
Speaker 2there is a keyhole to the door.
Speaker 4Okay, that's scary. So Glenn will look through the keyhole. If you poke my eye out, I quit.
Speaker 2You do. Before you see a pretty long hallway in front of you. The walls are stained. You can see the ceiling sagging. There's pockets of water and fungus weighing it down, and then you do see dripping water from several parts of the ceiling.
Speaker 4And how deep does it go? How far is it Not down?
Speaker 2You can see that it opens up into a wider room, but by your best guess it's probably about 20 feet.
Speaker 4So Glenwells share that information and then check for traps.
Speaker 2Your perception check 26. Okay, you do not see any traps. Is it locked? Are you trying the door handle? Yes, okay, yes, the door is locked.
Speaker 4So Glenn will look and say the door is locked and I have to pick the lock, so cover me.
Speaker 6Did Glenn search the body of the scum?
Speaker 4Well, he is very. He likes pulling one over and getting the gold when it's in fight mode and mission mode. He's not really.
Speaker 6I was thinking key, but that's okay.
Speaker 4Yeah, that's probably.
Speaker 6Monty just wants to shoot some more things, so open the door, however you can.
Speaker 4I mean, is that something to Somebody want to look for a key?
Speaker 3Are there any other ways in Like?
Speaker 2around either side. Not that you can see, but if you want to go around the buildings, you might be able to find something.
Speaker 3I just yeah, casual inspection. No, I'm sticking with the group.
Speaker 2Casually, you don't see anything else.
Speaker 5Gotcha Morris is going to cast Minor Illusion to make it look like there are guards standing here like normal, and then he will check the bodies for any kind of notes or well, just see what they have on them. I guess he's hopefully looking for notes or keys or other quest-driving information. Good, job.
Speaker 4Glenn rolled a 30 on beef stools.
Speaker 2Yeah, so you do. After a couple seconds, you hear a satisfying click and you assume that the door is open.
Speaker 4Okay, he will, I'm assuming, have noticed Morse searching the bodies, so he will wait for Morse to finish.
Speaker 2Morse, as you're searching the bodies, you find duplicates of the book that you found in Dory's warehouse, and each of them have tattoos of Farrah's Dunes symbol.
Speaker 5These guys both had copies of that book. I think maybe these could be treated as past phrases, for example, or something similar, but we already found our way in. I think that's fine.
Speaker 4I think those points at the arrows work as passphrases too. Sorry, Glenn is just ready to go forward. So the door? He is that all that was on there. Yes, the books. Okay, so Glenn will say the door's unlocked if we're ready.
Speaker 6Amante's not sure about going in here, just kidding.
Speaker 4I don't understand sarcasm, so looks for confirmation on both of the other two.
Speaker 5Did Nines look for an alternate entrance or were you just asking?
Speaker 3No, it really was a uh, a casual inspection of what might otherwise be obvious entrances. You know what I mean, like when you're, when you're trying to make your way into the restaurant and you're not sure if you've approached the building from the correct side and you're like ah shit, I need to.
Speaker 5Usually with moors around. You should be safe, because my passive perception is 20, my passive investigation is 19,. So we should not fall into that trap, Hopefully.
Speaker 4Now other traps, I think it's a matter of interpretation.
Speaker 2Okay, okay, so are you opening the door?
Speaker 4Yes.
Speaker 2Okay, so you open the door, you do immediately. Your, uh, the hallway reeks of mildew and rotting fish. You again, you see that the walls are severely stained. Uh with with water damage, the ceiling sags. Uh with water dripping down. Uh, there's different types of fungus growing on the sides of the wall. And as you're looking, you can hear the sounds of creaking wood and dripping water echoing loudly.
Speaker 6As soon as Monty sees a target in the open doors, he's going to shoot.
Speaker 4Do we see any people or moving things? Just a room right.
Speaker 2Yeah, so ahead of you you do see a room. You can see several crew chairs and benches arranged in a semicircle facing a smaller antechamber to the west, and then you can see a large fist, like fish, like shape that you identify as a shark, hanging in the air at the end of the alcove. Um, but again, you can see that these from where you're standing at the end of the hall, that the walls and floors, from what you can see, are covered with fungus and water dripping from the ceilings. But you can also see complex spirals and blood smears all over the room ahead of you.
Speaker 3Hang on, what kind of complex spiral.
Speaker 2Well they look like if you took a horizontal wave and. Uh-huh.
Speaker 6Wrapped it up on top of a little baby lion's head. Okay.
Speaker 2Spirals on spirals on spirals Is.
Speaker 3Tim Burton involved in this shit. I think he would be my. God.
Speaker 2They're titling it Spiralception.
Shark Encounter and Initiative Rolls
Speaker 4I'm just going to start cleaning up the fungus. Nolan jokeling it Spiralception. So Glenn is going to start cleaning up the fungus.
Speaker 3I don't get it. I was doing a different thing.
Speaker 6Prestidigitation.
Speaker 2You're just cleaning the fungus.
Speaker 4Whoa, hang on, he's making sure he has some place to stand. Is the shark moving or just?
Speaker 2hanging it, hanging it is hanging on a uh on the wall like a trophy, like a trophy, yeah so it's been preserved.
Speaker 5It's meant to be like a display, yeah, it is displayed there just bleed on the floor or something.
Speaker 6Okay I imagine shark hanging bleeding. But okay, gotcha, so with no immediate threats.
Speaker 5Morsel, I mentioned it hovering ready to attack. It's some kind of floating shark thing is there also a tornado? There's no tornado do you want there to be all?
Speaker 4right, so glenn will step in to this gray area, is that?
Speaker 2another door, or is that?
Speaker 6no, it's open, okay yeah, monty will, with bow drawn, continue to follow behind the group, staying, staying, staying behind, but still ready to just pretty much shoot anything he sees okay all right, so go ahead.
Speaker 4Nope, you're about to answer my question, am I? Well, we'll see okay.
Speaker 2So at the very of the hall you do see that stairs are leading down into obvious water. So there are stairs that lead down into water.
Speaker 4Yeah, I don't do water levels, so go ahead and shout Search the room. Is there anything in the room?
Speaker 2Okay, so, Nines, are you still outside or are you inside the room?
Speaker 3I have not made my way in yet. The slums are so slummy, I love it.
Speaker 2I love the slumminess Glenn, may or may not have noticed that Nines is a clone?
Speaker 3I was just excited to see this. Did you say the porn?
Speaker 2Hey man. So, morsors, are you ahead? Are you in the front? Right now it looks that way. So, mors, as you cross the second to the last set of chairs, you step on a stone and it presses down and the the hanging shark starts to move.
Speaker 3tornado hanging shark starts to move. Doot, doot, doot doot. Tornado Hanging shark. Doot doot, doot, doot. Hanging shark. Doot doot, doot, doot.
Speaker 2Very rapidly Hanging shark, and at the same time, you hear what sounds like burrowing, and not only does the shark, but you also have a few. They look like a mix between a lobster and a giant lobster, and a squid start popping up around you and I'm gonna need everybody except for nines to roll me um.
Speaker 3Initiative, hang on having very recently played balder's gate 3, I know what this means you can run away I can just go on my own adventure while these schmucks are stuck in turn-based mode, those idiots. I can do whatever I want for as long as I want.
Speaker 2It's groundhog day no, in all reality. I need you all to roll me initiative 15.
Speaker 3I still got a 15 heyo sub tens all day bitch 15. I still got a 15. Hey-o Subtins all day bitch. I rolled an 8 plus 4 for a 12.
Speaker 5Moar's also got a 12. Beansprout's with us yes, Beansprout is with you. He got a 20. Good for him.
Speaker 4Why does it say weasel?
Speaker 6That's what Beansprout's listed, as there's no raccoon familiar you can have a weasel.
Speaker 5That's what Beansprout says. It is His little token. Yeah, there's no raccoon familiar. You can have a weasel, so he's a weasel, realistically speaking.
Speaker 3Matty, get that fucking pick out of your mouth, bro.
Speaker 6Please, I start choking on it.
Speaker 3You're like my kids, stop it, stop it. You're like my kids, stop it. Is that a Dunlop?
Speaker 6Ultra thin, I don't know, is it?
Speaker 3I have no idea.
Speaker 6Yep, actually it is.
Speaker 3Dude, I love Dunlops. They're great picks, especially those thin ones. They're real easy for beginners.
Battle With Corrupted Shark and Chules
Speaker 5Justin you had your hand raised. Yeah, I was just ready. Your attention back off of the guitar stuff it was.
Speaker 3I just wanted him to get that shit out of his mouth.
Speaker 6I know, it's really been bothering you that much. I'm always chewing on something. Earlier it was a bread twisty I just hated that specifically.
Speaker 3I don't know why. Thinking about people just like putting their dick skinners all over that pick and you just like.
Speaker 6It's mine. Who else touches the guitar pick?
Speaker 3I don't know the people who made it.
Speaker 4You can say the same thing about your toothbrush.
Speaker 6Guitar pick's been in my pocket all week.
Speaker 2Correct. That makes it better, beansprout is first.
Speaker 5Yeah, beads Sprout's going to run over to Glenn and then, oh, I guess it doesn't actually work that way. So the corrupted shark is still on the wall.
Speaker 3Yeah, what am I seeing?
Speaker 2here. It came off the wall, but it is floating in the air.
Speaker 3Can we get a For the listening audience?
Speaker 2Yeah, so the giant shark is. Once that stone was depressed. The giant shark has moved away from the wall. It is no longer hanging on the wall and it has started. It looks like it's swimming in place, floating about three feet above the ground.
Speaker 4So it is now doing what I thought it was doing originally?
Speaker 2Yes, that is correct.
Speaker 3And maybe I missed it doing originally. Yes, that is correct and Maybe I missed it. Wasn't paying attention, was focusing on a mirror. Chul Lupa, chalupi and Chul-2?. Who the Chul are these?
Speaker 2things. Please don't change the names, guys. I have them associated with where their attack order is.
Speaker 4Yeah assholes. Man, I didn't do anything.
Speaker 3Imagine letting players just change token names. What the shit? That's not a good idea.
Speaker 6I have forever named every battle, all the tokens.
Speaker 3I seen it, I loved it.
Speaker 2There you go, especially when you, yeah, but you did it before I did initiative rolls.
Speaker 3Beanie boy.
Speaker 5Yeah, so he's gonna. I guess he's gonna jump on the shark's tail and try to grant or help Glenn. He's assuming that Glenn's gonna attack it, so he's gonna just ride the shark, ride the whip, okay.
Speaker 2Yeah. So Bean Sprout scurries up, jumps on the side of his tail and you can see him start scratching and biting the edge of the tail. The shark is obviously agitated. It keeps trying to snap side to side but it just can't catch Bean Sprout Is the shark large size? It is Okay.
Speaker 4Glenn. So Glenn will approach the shark following Bean Sprout's lead and with a large, with a kaboom, attack. The shark With advantage With advantage.
Speaker 2Okay, give me an attack roll this is sneak attack advantage right always sneak attack advantage.
Speaker 3I mean, but because somebody else is engaged within a certain distance.
Speaker 2So Glenn's specific class and subclass he's either he can get sneak attack if there's no other enemies within 5 feet, or if there's an ally within 5 feet, or if he has advantage. Or if he has advantage.
Speaker 4I have sneak three times, but I know you'll lose it once.
Speaker 3Isn't that just normal sneak attack, except for the first, the first one not having another enemy within 5 feet.
Speaker 2That's not normal sneak attack. You know what?
Speaker 3I might be thinking of is Gloomhaven yes, beautiful game so 29, that does hit.
Speaker 4Well, that's good also the tools.
Speaker 3Why is?
Speaker 4it oh 29?. That does hit. Well, that's good Also the. Chules yes, why is it oh 12.
Speaker 3Wait, that's your answer. What about them?
Speaker 2You only said the Chules.
Speaker 3Oh yeah, the description of their existence that I was not paying attention to.
Speaker 2So I'm going to say that you do recognize them. So, Nines, from what you remember, Jules are giant crustaceans that Aboliffs have modified and endowed with sentience. They follow the ingrained directives of their creators, as they have done since the dawn of time.
Speaker 3Oh, so like like Scoom.
Speaker 2Spud the ancient version.
Speaker 5Ancient crab version yeah.
Speaker 4So Glenn does 40 damage to the Corrupted giant shark, and then he will move back 10 feet.
Speaker 2You do see a wound Open up On the shark from where you hit it and it looks annoyed.
Speaker 4Okay, that's good. So, and Glenn says if you stab it, it gets hurt Nice.
Speaker 3Great intel.
Speaker 2So tool four is gonna run up on Glenn and it is going.
Speaker 3These things are so big.
Speaker 2Oh, they're big boys yeah.
Speaker 3These are so two by two, right, these are large? Yeah, these are large.
Speaker 2Nice. So, yeah, this tool is going to run up on Glenn and it is going to try to do a pincer attack on him and it has a critical miss. So, as it goes to swing at you, glenn, it digs its pincer into the wall next to you and it gets stuck and it's stunned until the next turn.
Speaker 6Monty, you're up, go ahead.
Speaker 4Just out of curiosity, do I not get my bonus actions?
Speaker 2Bonus actions. What do you want to do, oh?
Speaker 4nothing. I could have done all kinds of different things, but that's fine, I will just pass.
Speaker 2Okay, monty, you're up.
Speaker 6Don't know what just happened.
Speaker 4Monty's going to see that he didn't let me finish. He didn't let me say I was done.
Speaker 2What else would you like to do, Bill?
Speaker 4Well, nothing, he didn't. Let me say I was done. Oh, what else would you like to do, bill? What Nothing, no, okay, no that's fine.
Speaker 6Monty you're up, I just wanted you to acknowledge my existence. Monty's going to see that open wound in the giant shark and he is going to fire twice at the shark aiming for that wound.
Speaker 2All right, give me two attack rolls.
Speaker 3Fire twice Sorry.
Speaker 6And that was not likely to hit 13 and a 24.
Speaker 2Alright, so the first one misses, but the second one hits.
Speaker 6I'll do 1d8 plus a d4. So 12. Total of 16. Okay, okay, plus a d4. So 12, uh total 16 damage. Okay, and monty, I need you to give me a perception. Check, uh, perception oh, critical fail.
Speaker 2Got a seven, okay, uh. So yeah, the arrows are sticking out of the shark. Um, and it, or the one arrow, is sticking out of the shark. It's very annoyed and it's continuing to try to thrash and bite Bean Sprout.
Speaker 6Okay, monty is then going to retreat back about 60 feet. Okay, and post up for the next round.
Speaker 2All right, so Fuel 3 is going to it's measuring so I don't tool three is going to move 40 feet and take a dash action and close in on glenn and morris and nines, oh sorry, go ahead no, now that it's my turn, is there no turn stack? No, no not on maps indication no, not on man.
Speaker 3what a great platform, Good job.
Speaker 2The thing that I do like about it is that you can set it's much easier to set the size of the tokens. Bring in tokens and set a map. Like I can literally grab a JPEG anywhere off the internet and make it a map. That's the only advantage that it has.
Speaker 3Over what? Because literally every other VTT can do that the VTT and.
Speaker 2D&D Beyond. It's difficult to do. You've got to have it in the right format. It doesn't accept all JPEGs.
Speaker 3Oh well, that further proves my point. But better question having stayed outside. But better question having stayed outside, does that confer any sort of special advantage or bonus, or am I just kind of fucking positioning?
Speaker 2Yeah, you're not getting hit right now. That is the advantage that you're having, damn.
Speaker 3All right. Well, Nines hates not getting hit and is going to rush in.
Speaker 2Okay, you have 50 feet of moving speed, normally right.
Speaker 3Yeah, wow, that is so far. Is this legit distance?
Speaker 2That is legit distance.
Speaker 1Well, I can get fucking halfway there without spending any.
Speaker 2I mean you can dash and get into the chapel.
Speaker 3Yeah, how do I there we go? Why is it not telling me how far I have gone?
Speaker 5Okay, so yeah, first doors are 30 feet.
Speaker 3Second doors are 70 feet, so having measured 50 feet, how do I move 50 feet? Do I just remember where that point is?
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 3Oh honey.
Speaker 2Oh honey.
Speaker 3Yeah, y'all are fucking wilding bro, 50 feet right there, yeah, yeah, anyway, so I will.
Speaker 2I think I can use a 100 feet will get you about here.
Speaker 3I think I can use a key 100 feet will get you about here. I think I can use a key point for fucking run stupid fast or just dash action, yeah, but step of the wind, I can dash as a bonus, oh, which means that yeah, right.
Speaker 6Does that give it up to 200 feet? Does dash double your speed? So if you use a ki, point to dash double that?
Speaker 3I think no, as a bonus action means that I could potentially get 150 in a turn.
Speaker 2For as long as my key points last 150,. Yep.
Speaker 3Anyway, so I just want to go 100 though.
Speaker 2If you're just moving 100,. You can get to about here If you're moving 150,.
Speaker 1You can get up to here.
Speaker 4And 100, he can get to 1. Oh yeah, he can get to Chul 2, or Chul 1.
Speaker 2Yes.
Speaker 3Oh yeah, great point. I'm going to go punch Chul 1. Thank you very kindly. My god, this thing is huge, but I'm going to give it the old punchy-punchy.
Speaker 2Okay, give me an attack roll.
Speaker 3That is going to be Mother, fuck A 3 plus 10 for a 13?
Speaker 2That misses.
Speaker 3Oh, and Okay. Well, a 17 then.
Speaker 2That does hit. So yeah, your first blow comes across and the tool puts up his right pincer and kind of brushes it away. And as he's brushing it away, your second punch lands directly into his face. Give me some damage.
Speaker 3For how many damage? That is an exciting 2 plus 6 for 8 damage Okay.
Speaker 2Alright, anything else.
Speaker 3Nope, okay, spent all of them. Moors Went all the way.
Speaker 5Well, isn't that lovely.
Speaker 2Wouldn't you like?
Speaker 5to be a barbarian right now. Man, could you imagine being surrounded by bad guys?
Speaker 3Imagine how hard you would be right now as Sam.
Speaker 5Sam, you'd fuck these bitches up, hell yeah.
Speaker 3Muscles bulging.
Speaker 5So as this giant stuffed shark comes to life and becomes a beanie baby from hell, and this tentacled crab lobstrosity is trying to touch my butt, I guess Mors' reaction is going to be to shift down just a little bit away from Glenn so that he's more than 10 feet away, in case he needs to make a loud noise for some reason at some point, and then, instead of casting Thunder step which is probably really smart he's actually just going. Man, that's probably the step he's gonna cast under step. That's the smart move.
Speaker 3Don't leave your beanie boy oh no little beans proud, just say all on his awesome.
Speaker 5So I think with the measuring tool I can can be 10 feet from both Bean Sprout and Glenn without prompting an opportunity attack I agree.
Speaker 3So Thunderstep is simply a movement. It's an action.
Speaker 5Yeah it's a spell action that lets me teleport from one place to another within 90 feet that I can see, and then everything within 10 feet of me must take a con save and take 3d10 thunder damage or half as much on a successful save. Also the noise can be heard from 300 feet away, so we're not going to be sneaky anymore. I mean, we activated Shark Trap.
Speaker 3I mean, yeah, we're fighting a lot of and initiatived up, so okay so you ready?
Speaker 2are you? Are you thunder stepping? Where are you going to?
Speaker 5yeah, I'm gonna thunder step to uh like I got. Uh, I have 90 feet, so I'm gonna thunder step to just around. I have to unclick ruler. This is about 90 feet right here, yep, okay.
Speaker 3Why is everybody running the fuck away? I'm a little worried.
Speaker 2Glenn is surrounded by two jewels and a giant shark.
Speaker 3Well, I mean to be fair there is also a raccoon.
Speaker 2There's a raccoon there.
Speaker 5He's doing his strongest.
Speaker 1But, within.
Speaker 3The room there are four tools, One shark and three of us, and two of our dudes are exit stage left.
Speaker 2The first one fails his con. Save the second one, tool three, fails his con, save the giant shark passes his con save.
Speaker 5That's 3d10 thunder damage.
Speaker 2Give me some damage rolls.
Speaker 5That's 14 thunder damage, so half of that is, 7 for the shark and 14 for tool 3.
Speaker 2All right, morgz, you see the electricity kind of pass through these two creatures. Give me a perception roll as you're stepping away.
Speaker 5You got it, Just for clarity. It's all sound damage.
Speaker 2Yeah, I know it's thunder. Yeah, yeah, thank you.
Speaker 5Just making sure I'm not duping you. Well, that's fine. As soon as it decides that that's an 8, I'll also have an added bonus of 5, so that's a 13 total.
Speaker 2Okay, yeah, so the sound damage passes through both creatures, as you would expect, deals damage. You can see part of the skin of the corrupted giant shark get ripped away from its face. Nice, and Does that give me?
Speaker 5insight on something.
Speaker 2It does not.
Speaker 3Yeah, insight into its fucking brain.
Speaker 2It doesn't like it um, hey, give me, give me one second. Lauren, just lay down, I'm gonna go say goodnight to her real quick why did you laugh like that?
Speaker 3yeah, we, we used to call it uh so. So my wife would always go to bed early, especially compared to literally everyone else, and she would very often ask if I was going to come tuck her in, and sometimes me quote unquote tucking her in would last until I woke up the next morning. It so was always a gamble, and you also always kind of knew what was going on up to that point, and so it became more or less a running joke in the family about being tucked in. Hell, yeah, hell yeah. I mean that's as far as running jokes go.
Shark Encounter and Booming Blade
Speaker 5That's a good one, that guy. So sweet to his wife man. You would not believe it right, we'll fall asleep with that woman for no fucking reason okay, cheers, my uh, my whiskey and the beer that I brought are both complete oh no, do you need refill of refill of busters? Uh, I think on most days I would, but I have a 8 am va appointment that I probably shouldn't show up to my house.
Speaker 3Yeah, it's probably for the best.
Speaker 5Unless I'm looking for that extra special treatment.
Speaker 3Hey-o, yeah, that fucking inpatient shit Did you drive here? When they start sir-ing you, you gotta be worried. Oh no, yeah, actually I had asked Adrian to pretty please set me up an appointment for one thing or another, and she was like, yeah, it's asking for login information. I'm like, oh, don't worry about it, I'll get to it. And then I remembered that I was lying to both of us.
Speaker 5Well, better than just one of you. Yeah, you know. Make sure you're the same, keep yourselves on the same page. You know, as a team, you should we're both lied to by me.
Speaker 3I am.
Speaker 5I'm a victim, just like you we have a common, common enemy, and it's me.
Speaker 3You are, we have a common enemy, and it's me. Yo, god damn, you are right, that hits a little too close to home.
Speaker 5Holy shit, almost died I hope this gets deleted in post.
Speaker 3Fuck it. Hey Brandon Edit.
Speaker 1Can you?
Speaker 3delete this shit please, I don't want anybody to know how fucked up I am oh man good time, oh good bill had his headphones, that's nice, and that was just the happiest, most benign story I could think of. You know no, uh wow, like I don't often use the term milk toast, but fucking that applies you know, sometimes, yeah, you just got to get there.
Speaker 5You know, yeah, hey sorry about that guys that can be passed.
Speaker 3Don't be sorry, be better that's what I said. I was good. I I say it ironically because I fucking hate it like at a core level. I was going to say something about erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation or something like that, and I had nothing.
Speaker 2This explanation is as close as I could actually come or premature ejaculation or something like that, and I had nothing. This explanation is as close as I could actually come. Hey, hey-o, all right. So, glenn, here's your moment. Giant shark starts to move.
Speaker 1Boom.
Speaker 2That is 3d8. Thunder damage correct. Yep, yep okay, give me a perception. Check 19. All right, so, glenn, as your uh, what the hell is that actually called? I just keep calling it kaboom, booming blade, booming blade, yeah uh, as your kaboom actually strikes this corrupted shark, you realize that it's going through it almost as if it would go through an image. You don't think this corrupted giant shark is really there, but this corrupted giant shark is going to run up on you and it's going to swing at you and does a 22 hit.
Speaker 4No.
Speaker 2Oh, does it not actually hit Okay? So I was about to look at your character sheet For a moment, for a moment he was flying high. So you start to feel the pressure of the bite of the shark come down on you. But as you realize that the shark is just nothing but an image, it kind of dissipates and you only wind up taking ding, ding, ding, ding, ding and you only wind up taking. You wind up taking nine points of damage.
Speaker 4Okay, I will half that Okay.
Speaker 2And you also hear a voice in your head that says All I need is to defeat the others. If you join me, I will give you a ship with all the gold that you can carry.
Speaker 4Okay.
Speaker 2That's all you hear.
Speaker 4Alright, so is that four or five damage, five Round up.
Speaker 2Alright, so Chewle1 is going to swing at nines and he's going to swing with some pincers and he is going to Does a 14 hit. Fuck, no, what about a 19? Fuck, no, oh Hell yeah, eat it, it does hit.
Speaker 3Oh yeah, what did you already say 20. Oh, it does hit. Oh yeah, what did you already see? 20.
Speaker 2Oh, it is 20.
Speaker 3Damn 2-0.
Speaker 2What up? All right? Yeah, so both of those pincers strike wide and they miss you. You kind of take it back to this Chul, who deflected your blow initially, and just push it back on him, all right. And then Chul 2 is going to run up to the east, come up on you and try to attack you as well. Does a Does a 9 hit?
Speaker 3Let me check Two minutes.
Speaker 2How about a 23?
Speaker 6Well, unless 23 minus 9s.
Speaker 2No, I'm missing Count. Uh, I'm missing.
Speaker 3Count the fact that when I want to not take damage from an instance, yeah, no.
Speaker 2You take 14 bludgeoning damage.
Speaker 3What the fuck.
Speaker 2And you're also grappled.
Speaker 3Why.
Speaker 2And his giant fizzers. Alright, back up atop Bean sprout.
Speaker 3Listen for all of our myriad countries and unions of the world. I need everyone to know that I'm at 36 health.
Speaker 6There's only two people listening to the podcast. It's Billy and Jim, down at the gas station.
Speaker 1Hey.
Speaker 3Bill Jim 36 health guys.
Speaker 5You're not the only one I'm going to need you. We're all suffering, but Nines especially so beansprouts gonna continue to try to help glenn on the corrupted giant shark taking the help action all right, yeah, so beansprout is still latched on. Uh, biting the shit out of this, this tail, um yeah it's like alternating between like trying to like get his little diggers in there to try to distract him and kind of like holding on for dear life. I was like the, the fake rodeo bowl, just the, his little raccoon self holding on.
Speaker 2Oh oh, my God. I would just like to point out, brandon, I appreciate your framing. From that joke I saw your face and I saw you shake your head and I appreciate your God and I saw you shake your head and I appreciate your friending.
Speaker 3Oh my god, I can't have facial expressions anymore.
Speaker 2As soon as Justin said he's trying to get his diggers in there, I saw your face.
Speaker 3Hey, can you?
Speaker 5do me a favor there, bro.
Speaker 3No, but seriously, can you let them?
Speaker 1That one I will Thank you Do appreciate it.
Speaker 2Anything else for Beansprout?
Speaker 5No, I think he's done quite enough. I think.
Speaker 2I saw you say that and I saw Brandon go.
Speaker 1Went to open his mouth to say something.
Speaker 3Nobody noticed me.
Speaker 6The Steve Harvey moment.
Speaker 2Yeah, All right, Glenn, you're up.
Speaker 4All right, glenn will with a kaboom. Well, first he will say I don't think they're real, I think they're images. They flickered when we damaged them. And then say, kaboom and attack the corrupted giant shark. Okay.
Speaker 5With advantage.
Speaker 4With advantage, and it's a good thing, because an 18? That does hit, that's good. Wow, that's 428. Okay, actually, hold on, hold on. I'm not done yet. So 43 points total.
Speaker 2All right. So your blade passes a little too easily through the Corrupted Giant Shark and now that you recognize that it's not reacting like normal flesh would and it does seem to open up some wounds, but it doesn't look exactly right to you, glenn.
Speaker 4So it doesn't look like it's actually damaging it.
Speaker 2Correct.
Speaker 4So Glenn will say and we're not damaging them, or it we're not damaging them, or it we're not damaging the shark I don't know about the other things and he will squeeze between the two jewels.
Speaker 2We disengage right.
Speaker 4So there's not actually I attacked.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, that's right.
Speaker 4Is there space between them so I can do my full movement?
Speaker 2There is space.
Speaker 4Okay, so let me get over to the ground.
Speaker 3Yeah, isn't there, or aren't there, rules between medium and large size creatures in terms of man, I guess he can pass through a creature larger than him.
Speaker 6Yeah, occupied space.
Speaker 3Is it one?
Speaker 6size larger, or is it?
Speaker 3two sizes larger. I think one size larger is difficult.
Speaker 2It's difficult terrain, but Bill is a swashbuckler, which means that kind of gets negated.
Speaker 3Well, I mean just in general.
Speaker 4So Glenn will go there.
Speaker 3I think it's important to reiterate the rules every now, and then I agree I do not fucking remember them ever.
Speaker 2I only remember them because Justin and Bill have been hitting me on them for four fucking years now.
Speaker 3Yeah, well, I need that shit still. It's been a minute since I played. Actually it's more or less you guys.
Speaker 4That's it.
Speaker 2I don't want to abandon Bean Sprout the beanie boy because, looking at the shark, I don't think it can fit through the doors oh no, you can squeeze in.
Speaker 4There's also a rule for that well, the other thing is going if I get into the doorway, then we only have to fight one at a time. Anything else?
Speaker 2Glenn, yeah, hold on. I'm thinking I might dash if I get into the doorway then we only have to fight one at a time.
Speaker 4Anything else, glenn? Yeah, hold on, I'm thinking.
Speaker 3I might dash he's table-talking.
Speaker 4Moving on to the next person, I have my bonus action and I can use dash.
Speaker 2Isn't booming blade. A bonus action.
Speaker 4No, it's my action.
Speaker 5Oh, okay, which triggers his regular attack action. Yeah, okay.
Speaker 4Because I think we're. I don't know what these things are, so I'm going to use my healing ward to heal myself.
Speaker 5Just a clarification on what we saw. Did only the shark do the flickery? Some kind of not real thing?
Speaker 2Only Glenn has seen that. Oh, okay, and I said it.
Speaker 4Yeah, glenn has said it Now is that? I mean, I didn't see anything else get damaged, I'm assuming.
Speaker 2Only Glenn has seen the shark flicker.
Speaker 4And has Glenn seen anything else flicker?
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 4Okay, so Glenn will cast Healing Word on himself.
Speaker 2Okay so, glenn will cast healing word on himself. Okay, so you hear one more time. I just need help getting rid of the others.
Speaker 4So Glenn will say which others.
Speaker 2The others. Did that not clarify anything for you?
Speaker 1Yes, it did. It got too cryptic for you. Alright, I'll say it slower Others?
Speaker 3yes, it did, but it got too cryptic for you alright, I'll play it slower.
Speaker 2Others alright, so Chul4 is going to run up on Glenn and he's going to multi attack him he's stunned for this turn.
Speaker 6Oh, you're right. Thank you, you're absolutely right.
Speaker 2I did say he was stunned.
Speaker 6Thank you for that monster get in your place, dungeon master, or I'll fucking kill you next turn.
Speaker 2Wow, what an idiot. No, I did say it was done. Thank you for that, monty, get in your place Dungeon Master, I'm gonna fucking kill you next turn. Wow, what an idiot. Jewel 4 finally uses his left pincer to pull his right pincer out of the wall and, monty, you're up.
Speaker 6Monty's gonna see. Now, these two jewels have blocked his shot at the giant corrupted shark, so he's going to shoot twice at chule four and once at chule three. Okay, uh, using the uh, good old horde breaker and, uh, some sharpshooter feet too love it uh, so here's two attacks going at chule four. Uh, we've got a nineteen and an 8.
Speaker 2The 19 hits.
Speaker 6And this one a sad 18. 18 to Chul 3.
Speaker 218 hits 18.
Speaker 6Okay, so this is the damage going to Chul 4. Is that one plus that 22. 4 is that one plus that 22. And the damage going to Chul 3 is that plus that 10, 20.
Speaker 2Alright, so Chul 3 slouches a little bit. He looks really fucking hurt and anything else.
Speaker 6Yeah, he's actually going to see that 9, just like freaking white blur past him as he's running down the hall. So Monty's like, okay, well, 9 is moving up, so he is gonna go ahead and move 30 feet up, which is gonna put me right about yonder and he's gonna kind of look over to More's and give him a wink and say hit me that's a bonus action, I think right yes, it is a bonus action, not a reaction can do your time give it time, all right, that's it uh
Speaker 1brandon, do you have a?
Speaker 3question oh yeah, um, I'm. Did you say that one of the Chules pulled itself out of the wall?
Speaker 2with its Other pincer. Yeah, so Chule 4 went to swing at Glenn and missed and lodged his pincer in the wall. So he used his other pincer during his turn to pull the pincer that was lodged out.
Speaker 3Yeah, that makes no sense. I'm going to have to um actually you. That's impossible. He would have to um actually you. That's impossible. He would have to brace himself otherwise, oh my.
Speaker 6God, maybe he used the other pincer just to cut it off and re-grew it.
Speaker 3That's not what he said though. It was really bothering me.
Speaker 2I needed to clarify that, nines, I'm going to hit you so hard this turn.
Speaker 4So I have a question. The corrupted giant shark hit me, Hit Glenn Correct and the damage was halved.
Speaker 2But I said it was psychic damage.
Speaker 4You did.
Speaker 2I did.
Speaker 4I don't remember hearing that Okay.
Battle With Chul and Giant Shark
Speaker 2Yeah, it was half psychic damage. Okay, Alright, moving on. So Chill3 is going to run up on Glam and he is going to take a multi attack.
Speaker 4I disbelieve.
Speaker 2Does a 19 hit. Yep Does a 7 hit.
Speaker 4Nope.
Speaker 2Okay, well, with that 19 you're going to take 400 points of damage, oh. I guess you're dead. Now You're going to take 9 points of bludgeoning damage. I guess you're dead now You're going to take nine points of bludgeoning damage.
Speaker 6It's okay, we'll have to resuscitate dead people.
Speaker 3What a great DM, though he reduced it. It was going to be 400. It was going to be 400.
Speaker 2I took it down to nine. That's how much. Yeah, that's such a.
Speaker 4An incredible percentage Okay.
Speaker 2And Nines, you're up. You're surrounded by these two giant lobster bitches.
Speaker 3Okay, and so Chul 1 to the south of me is the one that I originally attacked and Chul 2 to the west of me is encroaching up into my area, Correct? I don't believe that there's actually anything that I can reasonably do for Glenn.
Speaker 2Keep in mind you are grappled.
Speaker 3Yes, and grappled means that I can't move.
Speaker 2So what grappled means and I get disadvantage on stuff. Yeah, so grapple means your speed becomes zero. Yeah, and so your speed is zero and the condition ends If the grapple creature Is removed from the reach of you, such as using a thunder wave or something like that Otherwise to remove yourself. It's a strength versus strength, okay.
Speaker 3Well, what if Thunder Wave or something like that, otherwise, to remove yourself. It's a strength versus strength. Okay, well, what if? I mean, these things are probably capable of being killed by us. So I'm going to hit it with my quarterstaff as hard as I can.
Speaker 2Okay, give me an attack roll.
Speaker 3I rolled an 11 plus 10 for 21.
Speaker 2That does hit.
Speaker 3Hell yeah, and Because I am so good At doing things, I thought I had something that hit harder. I'm stupid. Yep, that's right there. So I'll ignore that for the moment and roll my second attack. Okay, I rolled a three plus ten for thirteen that misses mother. And then I'm going to spend a key point to make two unarmed strikes. To make two unarmed strikes? Ooh, give it to me. That's a bonus action, that's a plus eight for 17.
Speaker 1That hits and a 16.
Speaker 3That hits Holy, so I get one of these for nine damage with a quarterstaff.
Speaker 2This is a chill one, or chill two.
Speaker 3All the same target, unless one explodes suddenly, okay, but 9, 6, and 5 for damage All right 20.
Speaker 2Okay, yeah, this Chul isn't looking great. Chul 1 is hurt. It's bleeding everywhere.
Speaker 3Point of order. It was ugly to begin with.
Speaker 2Okay, I mean yes, All right.
Speaker 3Mors, you're up. I'm a human, I have human sensibilities.
Speaker 5So one clarification question. My notes from actually August 2020 is when I earned the Gluteus Maximus. I had to pull them out for a question.
Speaker 6It's not in your character sheet.
Speaker 5I just pulled it up. It's written as a reaction on an ally hit. Do you want it to be a bonus action?
Speaker 2No, it's supposed to be a reaction. I'm sorry, okay.
Speaker 3Pause, we'll get there.
Speaker 2Point of order. What the fuck so Glorious Maximus? I'll let you describe it, justin, if you would like.
Speaker 5Thank you From the inked notes. I'll just display them real quickly.
Speaker 3Yeah, I can see them Because they're lovely Screenshotted. Where did this thing come from?
Speaker 5I can tell you that too. Hold on A six-inch long wooden rod with a metal hand on the end of it, named Gluteus Maximus. As a reaction on an ally hit within melee range of myself, I, Maximus. As a reaction on an ally hit within melee range of myself, I can shout good hit. And then I smack them for 1d6. And then that's bludgeoning damage 1d6 bludgeoning and then that ally gets to take a second attack action.
Speaker 3So it's like a backscratcher. This is what I'm imagining. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but a backscratcher but instead of the clawed hand on the wide open palm.
Speaker 2It's just gonna.
Speaker 3Okay, you just have this equipped all the time, or you gotta whip it out.
Speaker 2Oh, it's equipped. It's like on a belt.
Speaker 5Is that?
Speaker 6the Daniel Jack cave thing.
Speaker 5This was no. This is way before that. This is from Rachel. So, the monarch.
Speaker 6Yes, thank you.
Speaker 2Erector With that in mind. Thank you for the correction, justin. Before Morris goes, monty, if you want to take an additional attack action.
Speaker 6Question, though would I get to do that when the tools are stacked up or where they are now? Where they are now okay, so I can only do one attack to each three and four and take my damage, so let's go to four. Uh, that is a 16 and a 26 that hits all so just normal. This is going to 4. 4 gets total 7 damage and 3. Oh whoop, I'm sorry, ignore that one. 3 is going to get this Total of 11. Are either one of these still standing?
Speaker 2So Chul 3 at your hit falls to the ground.
Speaker 6So he's going to mark 4 as his favorite enemy doing an additional 1d6. The 4 is going to get 2 more, alright.
Speaker 2Chul 3 is executed as your arrow pierces the center of its forehead.
Speaker 6That was Chalupa. Can I name them now that they're dead?
Speaker 2Yes, you can. Alright, so, mors, you're up.
Speaker 5Okay, there it is. I found it. Okay, I'll roll 1d6.
Speaker 6I gotta take some damage for that, Because they give you a wackaroo Ooh 3 damage.
Speaker 1To your booty.
Speaker 6Thank you.
Speaker 5So from where Mors is standing, he can see Chul 4 and Chul 2 down the hallway and into the room. So he's going to look at them both. He's going to cast a spell that he hasn't cast before I don't think, at least not during the podcast. So he's going to cast Enemies Abound, which is a third level enchantment spell, and as an enchantment wizard he gets to target a second creature, additional creature, so he reaches into the mind of these creatures, the Chul 2 and Chul 4. So Chul 4 is one that had his arm stuck in the wall and Chul2 is one of the ones trying to beat up on nines, and I force it to make an intelligence saving throw. So Chul2 and 4 cleave On a failed save. The target loses the ability to distinguish friend from foe regarding all creatures it can see as enemies until the spell ends and then every time it takes damage it gets to make the save again.
Speaker 2Okay, so intelligence saving, throw so Chul4 rolled a 2.
Speaker 5That's not going to make it.
Speaker 2And Chul Chul 2 rolled a 17.
Speaker 5That will make it so. Whenever Chul 4 chooses a target to attack, it must choose it at random from the creatures it can see within range of its attack spell or other ability. If an enemy provokes an opportunity attack from the creature it must make. It must make that attack if it's able to. Okay, and then, uh, I will make sure that I'm standing next to monty in case I need to whack his bottom. All right, uh, pass okay.
Speaker 2So the corrupt giant shark is gonna run past jewel four, providing an opportunity attack. Jewel 4 is going to try to attack it.
Speaker 6I wish you could rename that little stick the Hawk Toolstick.
Speaker 2And it does hit, causing an additional 9 points of damage.
Speaker 3I put my hand up in the air sometimes.
Speaker 2And it's going to run up to Glenn and try to bite him. Glenn does a 18 hit yep and that is going to deal seven points of psychic damage stay in here.
Speaker 3What the yo? Yeah, you just said, the chule attacked the giant shark.
Speaker 2Yes, because of the spell that Justin cast.
Speaker 4So this image of a giant shark just attacked me and did more damage.
Speaker 2Alright, chul won Gonna swing at nines, bring it on motherfucker, I accept. All comers Does a 15 hit.
Speaker 3Fuck no.
Speaker 2Does a 7 hit?
Speaker 3Obviously it does not. That's insane. I'm insulted that you asked.
Speaker 2Alright, so Chul 2 is 9s Odds or evens Evens. So Chul 2 is going to swing a Chul 1 because of the spell that Mors cast on it.
Speaker 5I thought he saved I thought he saved. Oh, that's right.
Speaker 2Never mind, I love having that I thought he didn't save. Does the 21 hit?
Speaker 3Does the 21 hit? Let me check my character sheet it does.
Speaker 2It does. It does 19 does not, though, so you only get one hit. You're going to take 11 points of bludgeoning damage.
Speaker 3Oh, that's so cool, isn't it I?
Speaker 2thought it was.
Speaker 3Now we all play it together.
Speaker 2Alright Beansprout, you're still attached to the shark.
Speaker 5I think Beansprout's going to continue granting help to Glenn.
Speaker 4Glenn did shout out that the shark is not real.
Speaker 5Whatever Beansprout's holding onto is still holding him up, I guess. Can Beansprout make an intelligence check against the supposed illusion? The limited illusion, he's got a minus four for intelligence.
Speaker 2Sure, give me an intelligence saving throw.
Speaker 5Minus four.
Speaker 2Yes.
Speaker 5Okay, here's a d20. That's a 16, so he gets a 12.
Speaker 2Nope, he's hanging on for dear life.
Speaker 5Good for him. His imagination is so good.
Speaker 6As a kid he played by himself for hours. His imagination is so good. As a kid, he played by himself for hours.
Speaker 3You can just say it like that.
Speaker 2It sounds so sad. Glenn, you're up.
Speaker 3As a child no one loved him.
Speaker 6Monty yells. Glenn, you're doing great.
Speaker 2We should only have two more rounds of this. I know it's late, guys. I appreciate y'all sticking through it.
Speaker 6This is fun.
Speaker 3I forgot to be tired and was drinking instead. Hell yeah.
Speaker 6We need to move this to Saturday night instead of Sunday night, so no one has to get up there in the morning and fly someplace. I mean.
Speaker 2I'm fine with that. The problem is a lot of people have things to do Saturday night.
Speaker 6Who Like drink and then fly someplace? Who?
Speaker 3Show them to me.
Speaker 4I don't know how to get rid of this stupid shark.
Speaker 3Do-do-do-do-do.
Speaker 2Sorry, drop dead shark.
Speaker 1Do-do-do-do-do. Drop dead shark. Do-do-do-do-do.
Speaker 6I'm pretty sure when you do the song you're supposed to swim real fast. What? Go for the water man, if we're doing this in person, we can get nothing done so, glenn, give me a charisma saving throw or whatever.
Speaker 4The freaking thingy is my inspiration, okay.
Speaker 6Yeah.
Speaker 2We're using it. Hey, we're using it the tenth time.
Speaker 4I still failed. You get two inspiration.
Speaker 2Okay, you do hear a voice in your head that says If you're willing to talk, I will get rid of the shark.
Speaker 3It's that same motherfucker.
Speaker 4If I'm willing to talk, you'll get rid of the shark. So Glenn will say get rid of the shark. He will pass through the shark because it's too big. Fuck. Can you position Bean Spr sprout where he actually is? If that's, or is that where he actually is?
Speaker 2because bean sprout is on the edge of the shark, right shark would have come at you this way.
Speaker 5So beans right, yeah, on the tail end okay, good, that's where I want him.
Speaker 4So glenn will move through the shark to here and attack Chul 4.
Speaker 2What did you say in response, though?
Speaker 4I said I'm willing to talk, and then he would attack.
Speaker 2Okay, the rest of you. See the corrupted giant shark disappear.
Speaker 6What happens to Bean Sprout?
Speaker 2Bean Sprout falls to the ground. Flop All right. Attack Chul 4. Give me an attack roll.
Speaker 4Okay, with a kaboom 18.
Speaker 5The Chul gets the chance to make that save again Intelligence save.
Speaker 4I don't think it's gonna matter Does a 15 save?
Speaker 2A 15 does not save, damn.
Speaker 4So the Chul takes 33 points of damage.
Speaker 2Okay, tell me how you kill tool four.
Speaker 4So Glenn will say and go join your stupid shark friend and stab it in the eye. Okay, or whatever it has like an eye, it does have eyes. Okay, you'll stab it in one of the eyes.
Speaker 2All right, okay, anything else, glenn.
Speaker 4So Glenn will start going this way. One of the eyes, all right, okay. Anything else, glenn. So Glenn will start going this way. I don't know how much movement I have left You've got about that much, we'll just stay there. I don't want to use my bonus action to get that close just yet. Okay, all right. I'm going to help, but Actually no, Never mind he will use his bonus action and he'll get on the other side tool too okay monty, you're up okay, uh, monty, uh, seeing what he sees is gonna shoot.
Negotiations With the Aboleth Skoth-Ga
Speaker 6I guess he's gonna shoot. He's start by shooting once at tool two, and I guess we'll wait and see how it goes. After that attack Using my sharpshooter feat.
Speaker 2Okay, give me an attack roll. That's not good.
Speaker 6That is a 3rd to 12.
Speaker 2That misses.
Speaker 6He'll shoot a second time at him. Okay, give me an attack roll 20.
Speaker 5That hits. I'd like to use a reaction, please. Of course, I'd like to smack Monty on the, the bootiest maximus for 1d6 bludgeoning damage to grant him an attack.
Speaker 6Okay uh, it's 24 damage to all right that.
Speaker 5That hurts him pretty good yeah, that's three more damage, monty three more to me.
Speaker 6Okay, I'm taking it like oh yeah, uh, definitely, is that tool two still standing? He is, he is, monty keeps shooting. Then uh, yep, still doing the sharpshooter thing, even bob, yeah, natural 20 that hits me double damage yeah, hey, double damage. Does the 10 get doubled, since I'm doing the sharpshooter thing?
Speaker 3yeah, do you mean?
Speaker 6just double dice okay double dice, double dice okay, double those and I need to do two d4s. Oh man, that double dice is horrible. 17 uh 27 all right, tell me how you kill chule too uh, he just kind of ear holes him because he's looking at the side of him. This tool is focusing on nines all right so he sticks one right through the uh, the, uh, the, the little crab ear hole he's got on the side of his head.
Speaker 1Okay, crabs have ears, yeah ish something they got a hole in the side of their head someplace for something.
Speaker 6Three membranes, I think. Right yeah I've got nipples fucker you milk me so point point of order since I get I get two attacks per action, can I move and attack again?
Speaker 3do you? Were you granted an additional attack or an action?
Speaker 5you were an additional attack an additional well, the full attack action.
Speaker 4You can attack and move at the same time, so it all happens at the same time.
Speaker 5You can break it up in 5e. If you have multi-attack, you can hit an enemy move an enemy and move an enemy.
Speaker 1You can always break up the movement.
Speaker 6The question is whether it's an attack or I'll move my 30 feet to right here and so you move into the chapel, pass the doors. Pass the doors and then shoot at Chul 1.
Speaker 2Alright, give me an attack roll.
Speaker 6That is going to be a 20. That's a bad damage. 6 plus 2 18, oh, and I'll also mark him as my favorite foe giving me additional 1d6. So 18 plus 6 24, there we go, getting better okay it's that, oh, um oh you're saying it's damage 20, 24 damage. Yeah, god damn.
Speaker 2Yeah, it was uh at 20 to hit 24 damage all right, uh, monty, tell me how you kill two one um two, one doesn't see it coming, and it's just.
Speaker 6You know, it gets straight in through the forehead as the money, like pops around the corner, gets him right between the eyes.
Speaker 4Okay, so as a note, crabs do not have ears, good to know oh, what do they have? They have microscopic hairs all over their bodies that they do what we do in hearing, using those microscopic and they just register the vibrations. Yep.
Speaker 6Those vibrations just killed the crab out. Yes, close vibrations.
Speaker 2Killed the crab out of tool number two. Killed the crab out of tool number two, oh no, the dadger.
Speaker 6I wasn't using the dadger. Y'all take damage.
Speaker 2You skadoosh All right, the more you know you are out of combat. Hooray All of the.
Speaker 3The more you know you are out of combat. Hooray, all the nautiloids are dead. The ghostly shark has been.
Speaker 1What.
Speaker 2So, glenn, you immediately get a voice in your head that says if you're willing to help, we can get rid of the rest, we can get rid of the others. Help, we can get rid of the rest, we can get rid of the others, and myself and the young one will go to the bottom of the sea and we won't ever bother. Safe Haven again the voices.
Speaker 4Who are the others?
Speaker 6The others the others.
Speaker 2There's a bit of a you could call it a civil war between myself and other Aboleths, and yes, I am raising what some would call a Kraken, but it's only to take care of the other Aboleths.
Speaker 4Is this the young one that you're talking about?
Speaker 2He's touched by, but but by therese dunes. I don't want to hear about who's touching him. No, that's, that's.
Speaker 4That's like a religious thing and not like not actually touching him, as I'm sure that's been said before we're not catholic, gross can we get that last part deleted, or should we?
Speaker 5can we get rid of that?
Speaker 4no, I want that on the record, okay them um, so you wanna team up with my team and attack the other abolifts. Is there more than one multiple? So are you like the the head aboliff?
Speaker 2or my. My name is skog skothka yeah I'm gonna be honest.
Speaker 4I'm gonna be honest with you. I'm probably not gonna remember that but gofga, it's so easy hold on. So everybody sees Glenn pull out a pen, a pen out of his pocket and writes Skoth-ga on his hand.
Speaker 3And so all of this is entirely inside his head. How is Glenn behaving while hearing this voice?
Speaker 4So you see him looking off into the middle distance with a brooding look on his face oh, so no difference then no other than he's not talking that is very abnormal for glenn yeah like wait a minute.
Speaker 1Glenn hasn't said anything dozens of seconds. Glenn hasn't said anything in dozens of seconds.
Aboleth's Deception and Treasure Hunt
Speaker 2Yeah. So Skothka says I will leave Safe Haven alone. Yes, I am raising the young one, but I'm going to use him to take care of the other Avaliths.
Speaker 4So the promise, and do you swear an oath on your?
Speaker 2god thing. Yes, I swear an oath on my god thing, Glenn give me an insight.
Speaker 4Check. That's not good.
Speaker 3Glenn, when an aboleth tells you about his god thing, you say yes.
Speaker 4Nineteen.
Speaker 2Oh, sorry, yeah you believe the aboleth tells you about his god thing, you say yes, oh sorry. Yeah, you believe the aboleth.
Speaker 4Okay, so did the aboleth say that he um?
Speaker 2oh, sorry, that's a 19, not a 9. You are convinced that the aboleth is lying wait what so so you're lying to me now.
Speaker 4So it's not really that.
Speaker 2I would never.
Speaker 4You just did no. Yes, you did. I have a title that says you did.
Speaker 3This turns into a Monty Python sketch. No way.
Speaker 4So Daresdune just whispered in my ear and said you lied.
Speaker 2Darizdun speaks to you 28 says he does. You don't hear a voice in your head anymore. Skogeth has disappeared.
Speaker 3Go Gath.
Speaker 2Go.
Speaker 6Gath Well played. I don't think Brandon saw that one coming.
Speaker 4He probably passed his check. Actually, I don't know. So Glenn starts looking at the bodies.
Speaker 3So, having been questioned, skogath like just fucked off.
Speaker 4I called him a liar, I invoked his god's name deceptively and then he disappeared. Not really sure what's going on with that. So Glenn will start checking bodies and say that yeah, I think there's like a civil war going on between these things and yeah, I, I I'm not really sure what to do next. No, that's not how we. No, he would say I'm pretty sure that there's a civil war going on between the ival and one of them tried to enlist our help.
Speaker 6Monty's going to say what happened to that shark.
Speaker 4Oh, I took care of it. It's gone.
Speaker 3What do?
Speaker 4you mean you took care of it, I'm so reassured.
Speaker 2So, as you guys are talking about this, you see the displayed shark reappear on the wall.
Speaker 4So that shark was an illusion.
Speaker 6Ish, Monty shoots it just for good measure.
Speaker 2You hear a satisfying THWANG as the arrow penetrates into it and it stays there. It penetrates.
Speaker 6It seems good to me.
Speaker 4So I think there's a Chogoth or something Chagoth or something Chagoth. Glenn looks at his hand. What does it say?
Speaker 3Gogoth Skothka.
Speaker 4There's a Skothka guy that is trying to raise the young one to kill the other, avalos.
Speaker 2Justin, I don't think she knows how to use a bed.
Speaker 3What an idiot.
Speaker 4That is how Arya always sleeps.
Speaker 5Let me turn off my filter real quick and I'll just share with you how do I figure this thing out. Move on, I will.
Speaker 4There are so many times when we see Arya. Her back half is on a bed and her front half is on the hardwood floor.
Speaker 2Doesn't make sense.
Speaker 4Like, just like that over the side of a lump yeah.
Speaker 6Now, now Jester's frozen. Yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah there you go, there.
Speaker 4It is yeah, my ass needs comfort.
Speaker 2Yes, we're making fun of you.
Speaker 3Yeah, we're talking, I feel like.
Speaker 1I'm going to hang out with Brandon.
Speaker 2What my ass needs comfort.
Speaker 3What does he mean by that?
Speaker 2You do bad things to me, can we?
Speaker 5delete that last part and post.
Speaker 3Yes, are we going to delete that you going to?
Speaker 2delete that. Yeah, is this going?
Speaker 3to delete that. You going to delete that?
Speaker 2Yeah, is this going to make it. Oh, it's going to make it.
Speaker 3The sexual harassment cut 100%. All right, cool, I love it.
Speaker 6Monty, now, coming back in the room for a second time, takes a look around. Do I see anything? So A bunch of dead bodies and water in the stairs.
Speaker 2Yeah, so there are stairs leading down into a temple or leading down into I'm going to just say it, not the first time. I've done it, not going to be the last for our listeners. As a DM, I drink are you fucking?
Speaker 3getting me this whole time. I had no idea.
Speaker 2I've been me this whole time. I had no idea.
Speaker 3I've been here the whole time For our listeners. As a player, I'm going to admit it.
Speaker 5I drink. I'm still cold, sober baby.
Speaker 2All right. So who is exploring the room? Right?
Speaker 6now, monty, after shooting. Shooting the shark feels safe enough to kind of walk around the room, but he still got his bow in his hand, ready to pretty much shoot anything he sees that's alive and he identifies as being hostile let's say he's moving around the room and he's passively inspecting things, but he's more interested in his allies.
Speaker 5He has has this handy-dandy wizard version of a druid staff, and I more as well be expressing to each of you that he's willing to heal you a bit if you are feeling under the weather.
Speaker 3Ah, dude, yeah, Nines loves getting healed. They used to use stones, like there was this giant rock slab that the sun would hit it directly for like 75 of the day and it was so warm. You would just lay on it and they would put hot stones from near not in the fire, not like that one time uh, so from near the fire, just like like doot, doot, doot, doot all along your back. So fucking relaxing. And I just said all of that is nines.
Speaker 4Glenn just kind of looks down at the holes scattered about his clothes and body Help.
Speaker 3Yes, please.
Speaker 5So Morsel first elbow Glenn and say funny, and then put his hand on, and then during this I imagine that Nines is still explaining his like basking stone or whatever, like this the sun lamp points and then go back over and put his hand on your shoulder and, like smile, I'm just gonna nod at you and then I'll use my staff of healing to cast massacre wounds. So each of us will get 3d8, plus my modifier hit points, which is isn't that gonna max it out though?
Speaker 3yeah, who rolls that 3d8, do we? Individually or you roll for all of us, yeah.
Speaker 5I can't. I kill us all the same out. Yeah, which is 19 plus 4, so 23 HPs that each of us. Oh, it's pretty nice.
Speaker 3I'm listening. Okay, I hope it doesn't break. Yeah, 9th is Sigh contentedly and say yeah, like that.
Speaker 5You said 23, right 23 hit points per person.
Speaker 2Okay, so the rest of you are searching around Mors. Are you searching the room as well?
Speaker 5No, I'm sure.
Speaker 2So, Glenn, as you're searching the room, you find 600 gold pieces and two potions of healing.
Speaker 4I accidentally drank one of the potions of healing.
Speaker 2Okay. I'm just kidding Okay 600, yes, monty, you find a potion of greater healing and 400 gold pieces. Nines, you find 350 gold pieces and two gold pieces. Okay, nines, you find 350 gold pieces and two potions.
Speaker 3I don't know what these are for.
Speaker 2Two potions of greater healing and two potions of water breathing.
Speaker 3How many gold pieces?
Speaker 2350 gold pieces. 350. Two potions of greater healing and two potions of water breathing. Gotcha and moreors, you find 300 gold pieces, two potions of greater healing and four potions of water breathing.
Speaker 5Beansprout also searches the room.
Speaker 2Beansprout finds an additional 63 silver pieces.
Speaker 6Hell yeah, 6,300 gold pieces, hell yeah, 6,300 gold pieces.
Speaker 4So how many potions of healing did you say?
Speaker 2You found two.
Speaker 6How many did I find? You said one or two.
Speaker 2You said, yeah, you found a potion of greater healing One, alright. So what is the party's thoughts about continuing? Oh, not tonight, I'm just saying so I can plan for the next session.
Speaker 4So we're gonna tell you One thing and then do something else.
Speaker 6Oh, I know we're done here. Let's go in, guys.
Speaker 2So I'm gonna make an assumption that you're gonna drink some potions of water, breathing and go down the watery stairs.
Speaker 3That's the reason I gave you six of them.
Speaker 6Only if we had potions of water healing Like that would be a great idea.
Speaker 2Water breathing.
Speaker 6I gave you six of them.
Speaker 2Who did you? Give them to. I gave them to Nines and Moors. How did those work?
Speaker 3I have two. You can breathe underwater for one hour after drinking this potion, and then the rest is flavor tax. Correct One hour, that's it.
Speaker 6That was the answer we get one hour, which means two people are going to die. What? Because?
Speaker 3there's six, why would two people die?
Speaker 6Because three go down and we each get two hours under, or all four go down and two people get two hours and two people get one hour. One of us is a wizard.
Speaker 3You're still going, though, like I tell you like, out of three of us, one of us has to die. If you just continue and you're like out of three of us, one of us has to die if you just continue, and you're like, yeah, let's do it.
Speaker 5I can turn multiple people into water-breathing critters as well, he can.
Speaker 6Yeah, we're like level this should be part of our conversation.
Speaker 5Yeah, well Before it's like someone's dying.
Speaker 3Before we take this fucking suicide pact with this shit. Well, the last time the party walked Before, it's like someone's dying. Before we take this fucking suicide pact what?
Speaker 1the shit.
Speaker 6Well, the last time the party walked in the water, glenn said no, I think everybody knows what Glenn's response to a suicide pact is going to be.
Speaker 4Oh yeah, I'm in.
Speaker 6You guys drink the Kool-Aid. So Montiel looked at the group and said what did you guys find Iool-Aid? So Monty will look to the group and say what did you guys find?
Speaker 4I didn't find anything. No, Glenn will say I found some gold and some potions.
Speaker 6I found a potion too, and some gold.
Speaker 4I think these are cherry flavor.
Speaker 6Yeah, oh, nines bubblegum, that's so funny.
Speaker 3Nines will likewise share what he's got.
Speaker 2So, Nines, you don't recognize the potions immediately, but what you do see is it's a clouded green color and as you open the stopper, it smells of the sea and has a jellyfish-like bubble floating in it.
Speaker 4That sounds fucking disgusting.
Speaker 3I mean, that is the literal description. That's the literal description.
Speaker 2The potion of water breathing the potion of water breathing, of the potion of water breathing, I would say Mors recognizes it immediately, but Nines does not.
Speaker 6So is it warm, like when you swallow this jellyfish, is it warm?
Speaker 3So unstoppering this thing.
Speaker 4Does it talk to you in your head while you're swallowing it?
Speaker 3Unstoppering this thing. Nines is going to look into it and smell it and, seeing that it looks like somebody hawked to it into that thing, he is going to offer it to somebody else.
Speaker 6Well, if we go down in this water is all we have? To breathe these potions, Nope, I will die. Now is not too much time it's okay.
Speaker 3Once for a long rest I can regain 33 health points and I think that I die slower than that if I'm drowning, maybe.
Speaker 6Is Morris going to share that he has the ability to help us with water breathing?
Speaker 5Oh yeah, I found four of these water breathing potions and some healing potions and some money, and it seems like the stairs kind of go down underwater. If we really need to, I could turn a couple of us in. Well, one of us, let me think about it. He pulls his book out At least one of us into something that can breathe water.
Speaker 6What about that bag you have? We've put the fish in there to keep breathing. What if we all climb in your bag?
Speaker 5Yeah, I think you could probably live for, depending on how good you are holding your breath.
Speaker 6No, we figured this out once.
Speaker 2I'm pretty sure we did. We did For like 15 minutes.
Speaker 515 minutes it was a long 15 minutes, but I don't know that Mors would be able to give a concrete answer.
Speaker 6We have some options should these potions wear out. I'm all for it.
Speaker 5I don't know if you guys remember, but Sam also has a belt that lets her teleport anywhere.
Speaker 2Anywhere she's been before.
Speaker 5What the so like worst case scenario you just get Wait.
Speaker 3uh, this sounds mega goddamn powerful.
Speaker 5What the shit. This was when we went to the slot machines, and I think Monty's actually wearing some god killer gloves.
Speaker 2Monty is wearing god killer gloves. I can kill gods, excuse me I got a net, I got a net, I got a net.
Speaker 3Oh man, I think that's probably the story of your Fucking life Glenn's life, obviously but I think it's time, alright so we're going to call it for the night there.
