Speaker 3:The and once the episode goes for about two hours. It gets pretty sloppy after that. It'll be wrapping up very quickly, yikes.
Speaker 4:Welcome to a D&D story.
Speaker 2:I am Brandon, the irish wookiee, and with me today is bill. Hello, this is bill. I play glenn, the half-elf rogue swashbuckler and maddie hi everybody, my name is maddie.
Speaker 3:Uh, my name is mon. My name is. My name is maddie. I play montoya and nego the arctic Tabaxi Ranger with blue eyes.
Speaker 4:Oh boy, okay, Okay, justin, hi Brandon, don't do this. I got to make you work for it sometimes. Hey, buddy, hi everybody, I'm do this, I gotta make you work for it sometimes.
Speaker 5:Hey buddy, Hi everybody, I'm Justin and I play, sometimes Moors, sometimes Sam, and I don't know who it is today. I think it's Moors.
Speaker 4:Okay, all right and finally, brandon, hey, brandon.
Speaker 6:Hello, I play nines. I do monk things as a high elf. I mean I do high elf things as a monk. I mean I do nines things as a high elf monk.
Speaker 4:So Bill is Glenn, brandon is nines.
Speaker 3:One day we should have an episode where I play a character named Justin, bill plays a character named Brandon, brandon plays a character named Bill. Oof, there we go.
Speaker 4:You each play each other's avatar from real life in the game.
Speaker 3:And Justin can play a character named Princess Sophia.
Speaker 4:Alright, princess Donut. I want to say thank you to everybody for following us, liking us, giving us ideas. It really does mean a lot to us. We've been having a good time. Hope you are as well. Make sure you give us a like on Facebook at facebookcom slash ADNDstory. Retweet us on Twitter or X at ADDstory2. Check us out on Instagram at instagramcom slash ADNDstory. And finally, don't check out our Patreon. We're doing some rework to it right now. We will get in touch. We'll let you all know what our new Patreon is going to be.
Speaker 6:Hang on. That's our only source of income.
Speaker 4:Is it our only source of income?
Speaker 2:God, if it was our only source of income, we'd all be not living.
Speaker 4:Also check out our OnlyFans at OnlyFanscom. Slash a D&D story.
Speaker 1:That's the real source of income.
Speaker 6:You can see me on OnlyFans holding my staff. It's not a full staff, it's a quarter staff.
Speaker 4:We have an entire channel dedicated to Morse turning into Sam. That's true For us in here, our Patreon, because we haven't posted anything in so long. It's under review by Patreon, so we're probably just going to have to nix that and if we ever get back into it, we'll start over. We'll do it, Bro. It's been almost two years. I know it's hard.
Speaker 3:And just now Patreon's like wait a minute, is that it? What is going on here?
Speaker 6:Yeah, are you guys even using our platform?
Speaker 4:So yeah, if we ever get back into it, we'll start up another Patreon.
Speaker 3:I didn't know. Posting was actually a requirement absolutely necessary we need it.
Speaker 4:We need to post content for the people that pay for us.
Speaker 6:What the fuck, is this some sort of two-way street?
Speaker 4:all right so how do you?
Speaker 2:never mind, I'm not gonna get into how you use patreon, because all the people that do Patreon you have to do extra stuff. You can't just use it to sponsor your main activity you have to post to.
Speaker 5:Patreon, you can still say hey, thanks every month and just throw a comment on there.
Speaker 4:Yeah, you got to do something to it, so we haven't even done that. No, because, what am I thanking them for? Hey, thanks for forgetting you're paying us.
Speaker 6:Continued support. Wait, are there people still paying? There were, yeah, Until what do you mean there were?
Speaker 4:Until this month, not anymore.
Speaker 2:Did you turn it off or did Patreon turn it off? Patreon turned it off?
Speaker 4:Okay, okay, or did Patreon turn it off?
Speaker 2:Patreon turned it off Okay.
Speaker 4:Yeah, that's what was paying for all of the subscription costs for Buzzsprout and any kind of advertisements we do. And then Buzzsprout, that are the map application that I use, Sirenscape, all that stuff.
Speaker 6:What map application do you use? It is called.
Speaker 4:Maplication Incarnate. That's what it is. I really like it. Google Maps.
Speaker 6:Do you get paid by Google Maps?
Speaker 4:Man, if I did probably wouldn't be that much.
Speaker 6:I was going to say you get 25 cents per every 400,000 clicks.
Speaker 4:All right, so go over some listener information. Like I said, we really appreciate all the support you guys have been giving us. We are in the last 30 days we had 1,322 downloads. The most downloads were on September 3rd and that was 426. I don't know what happened on September 3rd, that was a Tuesday. Nothing else was posted that day. We didn't post on September 3rd either.
Speaker 6:No, I mean like the internet, oh yeah.
Speaker 4:Nothing else was posted on the internet. That's true, maybe people downloaded us To listen to a car ride home or something.
Speaker 2:Yeah, their car ride home From Dragon Con maybe.
Speaker 4:Oh yeah, I was doing this. So our most downloaded episode is the Gooja Battle. That sounds like oh yeah, I was doing this. Okay, so our most downloaded episode is the Goudre.
Speaker 6:Battle that sounds like when Nines was introduced.
Speaker 4:Yeah, our most downloaded episode in the last 90 days.
Speaker 6:Yeah, but that's where you catch up with the current season. You don't have to listen to the rest of it. That's fair. That's fair. You just need like from when Nines? All you have to do is listen to the rest of it. That's fair. You just need from when 9. Once the story started picking up.
Speaker 2:All you have to do is listen to the casino episode and you get a recap of the entire show. Very true.
Speaker 4:North America is our most downloaded, and let's get some locations.
Speaker 6:We had a lot of Ireland last time.
Speaker 4:Some Belfast. So, yeah, let's get some locations, didn't? We have some, we had a lot of time some belfast, so yeah, we have, let me. Let me do all episodes here.
Speaker 6:Oh, there, it is because my buddy visited ireland and he downloaded it a bunch of times for me. Oh yeah, while he was there.
Speaker 4:Yeah, just to boost our numbers uh, we do have our most downloaded of all time.
Speaker 6:Came comes from philadelphia, pennsylvania well, that's right, we love philly we love philly like it's so hard that we want to riot no, no there goes all of our questions or is that?
Speaker 5:is that okay?
Speaker 6:no, no no, yeah, do you have to like? No, that's Chamber of Commerce.
Speaker 4:Get permission from every single citizen of Philadelphia, every citizen of Philadelphia, and then Houston, texas, and then Chicago, illinois, chicago, chicago, and then we get.
Speaker 6:Listen for all my fans out there, my fans exactly out there in Houston. I am directly descended from the legendary Sam Houston himself, so don't look that up, but it's true.
Speaker 2:Where exactly would they look that up Wikipedia?
Speaker 6:You're on Wikipedia. It's not going to be there.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 4:And then some other countries start popping up after that.
Speaker 6:For RMS Downloaded.
Speaker 4:Vienna, vienna, austria. But it's listed in Buzzsprout as Vienna, vienna.
Speaker 6:It's an earlier episode, joke alright, I'm just going to shut up then.
Speaker 4:Victoria, british Columbia, dublin, let's see Cardiff. Wait where? Cardiff? That's Wales. Yeah, we've got some Queensland in here, some New South Wales.
Speaker 6:I don't know where this is. I have so many Australian friends.
Speaker 4:Anybody heard of, and I apologize to any of our listeners because we'll educate ourselves. You know how we do. I'm going to butcher this too Colugno Alcerio. Provencia di Bergamo, is that in Montenegro?
Speaker 6:Is it? I don't know. Yeah, that's complete. I was just throwing out a country name.
Speaker 2:How do you spell Colugno or whatever you just said? Off the beaten path, that's complete.
Speaker 4:I was just throwing out a country name. How do you spell Kalugna?
Speaker 6:Off the beaten path. You don't often hear of Montenegro.
Speaker 2:How did you spell Kalugna or whatever you said?
Speaker 6:I just dropped it. I mean AL. That is very Arabic right.
Speaker 4:I think it's Italian.
Speaker 6:Ooh, yeah.
Speaker 2:I mean the rest of it is not Arabic. It is a commune municipality in the province of Buragmo, in the Italian region of Lombardy. About 45 minutes 45 kilometers northeast of Milan.
Speaker 4:Well.
Speaker 2:So it is in Italy.
Speaker 4:We have some pretty consistent listeners from there.
Speaker 2:The first human settlements in the area date back to about 4,000 years ago. Oh, okay, wow, in the Bronze Age. So that city's been there a while, or people have been living there for a while anyway.
Speaker 6:I've been to Toronto, to Vitavecchia, Naples, but not to Colono Alcerio.
Speaker 2:Alright, yeah.
Speaker 4:Like I said, I butchered the hell out of that name and I will learn how to pronounce it before our next episode. Alright, so, with all that being said, let's roll for some recap.
Speaker 6:Oh, no, hell, yeah roll six.
Speaker 3:Oh my god I rolled even worse. I got a three thanks, monty I got a four.
Speaker 4:Oh shit, If these rolls are what we're looking at today, guys, it's going to be a good game.
Speaker 3:Hell yeah, I mean we're not going to do anything, so we're not going to have to roll any dice.
Speaker 4:It is entirely up to you. If we do anything, god's fired, all right.
Speaker 3:So I'm assuming that's me.
Speaker 4:That is, you Give us a recap, monty.
Speaker 3:All right, episode 77.
Speaker 4:If you need me to start you off, I will.
Speaker 3:No, I actually have some notes. I distinctly remember Monty just being pissed off at political nonsense, this whole uh, this whole game, and we're just really just wanting to do. Well, we go back to to oh, what's the lady's name? Thornburg, not thornburg, probably with the name thornwell, thornwell. We go back to thornwell and we're pretty much like yo, we uh did what you said. You wanted to either help us out or we're done here. No, was that the previous episode?
Speaker 4:No, you guys talked about it. You never did it. Oh no, no, no, that's not true. Sorry, I'm looking at my notes. You did do that, okay.
Speaker 2:I was going to say Keep going.
Speaker 1:That was like the entire episode.
Speaker 3:Yeah, anyway, we go back to her and, yeah, we're pretty much in the mindset of yeah, we, we did what you asked to investigate this and she's like no, you're not done, keep going. And we're just realizing that we're just puppets.
Speaker 3:To now two people, a dungeon master and this politician um, and neither one will let us go on the thing that we actually want to do, which is to do Morse's mom's letter and go avenge Monty's father at Dead Pelt Shadows. So we have to continue down this path where we all eventually just die. But that's happening this next couple episodes, so we'll get there, let's see. Let me find the actual specifics. I know we run into a battle and just start shooting a bunch of people. Is there anything that happens noteworthy before that?
Speaker 2:it was mostly an episode of multiple people talking to counselor Thornwell trying to convince her to give us a boat so that we can go check out the deadpelt shadows prior to the dungeon. I can't remember the name of the place.
Speaker 3:Yep, we end up. I mean we leave Dorvi's floating boat thing through an escape hatch and then we go back to Thorval. Dorvi, not Dorvi, that's the other Finding. Dorvi Brother's Lamp. That's the name of the place that we're heading to the district.
Speaker 4:Yeah, that's the district you're heading to the district. Okay, you're specifically heading to Therizdun's Temple.
Speaker 3:And when we get there, monty, from far off, just starts shooting people that he assumes to be bad and we go to. They actually have a pretty good, uh uh good battle with a animated shark that was on the wall.
Speaker 3:um thanks, sydney, sydney's helping me out today um, and some other like sea creatures, see, see people, semen combinations of yeah, they just beat on us a whole bunch and we ended up killing them all. And then, as the battle's concluding, glenn hears this voice in his head from Skoshta, skogoth, skogoth. I'll put a G in there Skoshta.
Speaker 6:I'm curious what you wrote down to come up with that. Or is this just off of memory?
Speaker 3:No, I wrote down S-K-O-T-A-H. Skogoth and whoever. This Skogoth is apparently only talking to Glenn and the rest of us have no idea, and it removes the giant shark illusion and wants Glenn to help him. We also find not to like. Tell us where to go A bunch of water breathing potions, and the only way out of this room is a stairwell that goes down into water. We discuss how long people can survive inside of a bag of holding. Should we need air? We actually have two bags of holding now in the party which we could all just jump in. Morse could thunderstep his way, could.
Speaker 6:Morse thunderstep underwater.
Speaker 3:Why would? You do that If we ran out of air, if we lose the ability to breathe underwater and we needed to escape.
Speaker 2:Because the duration of these potions is not. We're worried that it's not long enough.
Speaker 6:And so we escape into the bag of holding. And then what?
Speaker 3:You have 15 minutes for one person to consume the last water breathing potion and get out.
Speaker 5:I also have three casts of polymorph, oh wait, four or five. Five casts of polymorph, six casts of polymorph. I think we'll be okay, so who's actually with us?
Speaker 2:Is it Mors or?
Speaker 6:It's.
Speaker 5:Mors again, mors right now.
Speaker 3:Now that you said that it's not going to be Mors anymore. Remember. I said we're all going to die, we all have to drown. So that's the angle. As soon as we do that, then we can move on to the rest of our lives.
Speaker 4:So there is a limit to the bag of folding.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I think it's 15 minutes 500 pounds. Mass. Yeah Well, we have two of them.
Speaker 5:And I could polymorph you first.
Speaker 4:That's true. No way I could do that.
Speaker 2:Why don't you just polymorph to something that breathes or that can breathe underwater Fish?
Speaker 4:Alright, so anybody want to add anything?
Speaker 2:To clarify the voice in Glenn's head asked to speak to glenn, and that is what glenn was, glenn agreed to. And then they spoke and that was the end of it. I don't remember what all was said. I can't okay. It was a month ago.
Speaker 4:Yeah, real quick. So you guys went to counselor thorne will try to convince him, to convince her that you were complete with her quest. She told you to not up or shut up and to go do the job that she hired you for, uh, and she'll give you a boat and all the riches that you want. You guys went back to the temple of pharaoh's dune, uh, and monty shot two uh creatures from very far distance away with his bow, killed them. You then walked into a temple or an altar looking area where four tools attacked you, along with an imaginary shark. You guys defeated them. You walked away with Let me pull it up, sorry, you walked away with four. Let me pull it up, sorry. Some gold. You walked away with four potions of greater healing, three potions of healing, six potions of water breathing and a total of 1,500 gold pieces.
Speaker 5:Six potions of water breathing. I think I only got four, yes, six potions of water breathing. Oh, because nine's got two also.
Speaker 4:You have not completed searching the entire room yet, you've only searched the body so far. And then, at the very end of the episode, skogoth asked Glenn to speak. He then asked Glenn to join his side if he betrayed his companions, and that the two of them together would rise to power and rule the world, or rule the land.
Speaker 2:He didn't say that in clear enough detail.
Speaker 3:Otherwise Glenn would have been all for it.
Speaker 4:Glenn would have stabbed Morse so fast.
Speaker 2:No, he would have convinced Morse that Monty and Nines were evil and they were actually doppelgangers and that they were going to attack us.
Speaker 4:Oof, I don't think there's any way possible you can convince Mors to turn on companions, whether they're evil or not.
Speaker 2:Oh no he wouldn't have tried to get them to turn on. Monty would have just killed them, and said why afterward? Or I'd just killed them and said why.
Speaker 4:Afterward, mors would have probably given you the benefit of the doubt on that.
Speaker 2:And then he would have convinced the other guy to let Mors be part of this ruling. We would be a triumvirate. Or maybe a three and a half. I don't know how that works with Sam. I don't know Sam would be on board too. So Sam likes Glenn.
Speaker 4:That's true. Anybody have any questions before we continue?
Speaker 6:I have a whole recap that I forgot where I had put this previously, and so everything that Maddie just said confused the shit out of me until I remembered that I had taken these other notes.
Speaker 4:Okay, would you like to add anything?
Speaker 6:There are plenty of notebook or a note with spiral symbols which featured prominently last time. Symbols which featured prominently last time because or the reason that it's a big deal is because the same symbol that we found in Jarmie's cell yes, and that is a symbol of the.
Speaker 5:Aboleth or something right, Mm-hmm.
Speaker 6:Correct, and so we know that the Ghost Lantern Killer, lantern Ghost Killer, what was it? Ghost Lantern Killer? Lantern Ghost Killer? What was it? Ghost Lantern Killer? Glk not LGK. The Ghost Lantern Killer was not Jarmi, because one of the other murders happened afterwards. We know that those murders are going towards feeding something for a birth in a few weeks words. We know that those murders are going towards feeding a something for a birth in a few weeks Harvest to feed the young one, potentially linking Therizdun's impending arrival or potentially linked to Therizdun's imminent arrival.
Speaker 2:That was from the previous episode.
Speaker 6:This is August 18th. Oh no, we just found the extra information that linked it back to. That is all. Yeah, it's the note.
Speaker 4:Okay. So yeah, you are currently just finished the battle with four jewels in the dark altar room. The bodies are there, the imaginary shark has disappeared and is now hanging once again above the stairwell down into the water, and I'll start the map session. You guys can join it. There are benches and places for people to sit, along with a few chairs up front. The room is dimly lit. You're able to see all throughout the room, so please give me a quick description of what you are all doing. Glenn, you are searching the room.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 4:Maddy or Monty.
Speaker 3:Monty is, I wouldn't say panicking, but he's a little not happy with the fact that they have come in possession of some water breathing potions and it looks like the only way out of this room is down a watery hole of death.
Speaker 6:Nines. Nines is looking at the wall, just looking, yeah, okay, great and Morse.
Speaker 5:Morse will be looking around at these shark corpse some more, because it seems unusual for a corpse to have, just especially a big taxidermied corpse to come to life and start attacking. So he's looking for any kind of signs of what might have caused this. I know we there was some kind of illusory stuff going on with it too, where like it didn't look like it was really there maybe. So he's curious about it.
Speaker 4:I'm going to try to see what he can learn all right, so I'm going to move you mores over to the stairwell, because that's's hanging right above that and that's where you are searching. Nines, you are staring at the wall. You notice that this wall is made of. It's an old stone from well before you were born and it's even though it has some water wear, it is. It looks, solidly built. There's some drops of water coming in through the cracks, but it doesn't look like it's going anywhere. This is a pretty nice wall guys.
Speaker 5:Did you mention that there are rocks or stones over there, or did you just?
Speaker 6:No, no, just in general, it's well constructed. Nines has actually taken a few architecture classes at the back of the temple and so, like he can pick out some design elements that are pretty clever.
Speaker 5:While Mors is looking at the shark, he'll kind of look over his shoulder and say, oh, what do you like about it?
Speaker 6:It hasn't collapsed yet. That's a sign of a good wall.
Speaker 4:So Nines finished the first class Well there's a whole track.
Speaker 6:I actually Nines didn't attend any of the classes, but he knew the instructor pretty well. Yeah, they had a few training classes together and so he was gonna. He was real interested.
Speaker 4:Okay, great, alright so.
Speaker 2:Sorry, the creatures that we killed, the chules. They look like squid, Is that right?
Speaker 4:Yeah, so the jewels are basically a transformed creature from the avaliths. The avaliths transform these humanoid creatures into jewels, and this is the result of monster.
Speaker 2:Alright, then never mind.
Speaker 4:Alright and Monty, I need you to give me. Okay, alright, then never mind. Alright and Monty, I need you to give me. You can either do Wisdom or Intelligence at advantage.
Speaker 3:I'll do Wisdom.
Speaker 4:Saving throw. I'm sorry, saving throw.
Speaker 3:Good thing, I got advantage on that one. Alright, so Mon, I got advantage on that one 14. Yeah, seriously.
Speaker 4:All right. So, monty, you realize that even though there's water you've got six potions of water breathing. You know they last for a very long time. You're likely not going to suffocate down in these dark, murky waters and you've come to trust Morse and know that he can get you guys out of pretty much anything with all of his uh magical repertoire behind you. So you calm down just a little bit he's still a cat for sure you tell me a cat that likes water all right, uh moors, give me a perception, check and advantage.
Speaker 5:Advantage perception. I would like to remind you that my passive perception.
Speaker 4:Yes, I know, I know you're actively looking right now, though.
Speaker 5:Well, I got a five and I got a six, so that makes an 11. Perfect.
Speaker 4:So, morris, you do see, as you're investigating this creature, you see a small panel that's slightly opened right underneath this not mannequin taxidermied shark, and it's just taken out a little bit. It looks like it wasn't closed properly.
Speaker 1:Hmm.
Speaker 4:Can I open it further? Yes, you can. Would you like to open it further? You betcha Alright. So you open it up and inside you find a small rubber cap. It looks like it's supposed to fit on top of somebody's head and you, immediately, as soon as you touch it, you feel the power. You feel power start to emanate from it.
Speaker 5:I will pull it out and try to see take a better look at it, if we have time. I guess I could start trying to identify it.
Speaker 4:You guys I would say that while you're casually searching this room, if you guys want a short rest while you're doing it, I'm okay with that. I could use a short rest?
Speaker 5:I guess A short rest would not understand that.
Speaker 3:It'd be a bad thing if we can uh hold up here for a moment especially with monty not active monty and nine's not actively searching for anything.
Speaker 4:They're pretty much just relaxing right now. I'd be more than fine with them doing that, all right. So everybody do a short rest and, uh, moors, during that short rest you do? You identify this as a cap of water breathing. So you can wear this cap underwater and speak its command word as an action to create a bubble of air around your head. It allows you to breathe normally underwater. The bubble stays with you until you speak the command word again, the cap is removed or you are no longer underwater.
Speaker 5:Nice, that's pretty swanky.
Speaker 4:And Glenn, would you also give me a perception check at advantage.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 4:Yeah, perception, there it is.
Speaker 2:At advantage, you said.
Speaker 4:Correct.
Speaker 2:Okay, 21.
Speaker 4:Wonderful. So, glenn, as you're searching around, in the far northeast corner, you see a puddle of water and in there is an oil skin that's wrapped tightly with some rope around it, and it's deep in this puddle. It's about a foot and a half deep. I find something that's tied and wrapped in underwater in an oil skin correct, yes, uh, pull it out of the water, okay you're gonna unwrap it no, yeah, yes, yes, I'm going to unwrap all right, so inside shove it into the.
Speaker 2:No, I'm just kidding. Go ahead, yes.
Speaker 4:Inside you find a lyre, a lyre, lyre, if you will.
Speaker 2:A lyra, a lyre, it's like a banjo right, a small banjo yeah.
Speaker 4:And it's made of a dark mahogany wood with gold plating on it and on the face of it it's got the face of what looks like two masks looking at one another, and then on the bottom there's a small inscription and it sails, it sails.
Speaker 2:So the faces are looking at each other. You said right.
Speaker 4:Correct. It says to my lover showing me the best time of my life Cedral.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 4:And if you would like to try to identify this during your short rest as well, Bill, you can. I know you don't have identify or anything like that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I would just examine it and see what I can learn about it.
Speaker 4:Okay, yeah. During your short rest, you realize Actually, let me do it this way. Yeah, yeah, okay, even better. During your short rest, you realize that this is a magical instrument. It is rare. You've never seen or felt anything like this. You didn't even know magical instruments could be this powerful. And you also sense that you need to be bonded with this instrument in order to play it properly.
Speaker 2:Okay, that takes a long rest right.
Speaker 4:Correct, but you cannot bond to it. You cannot attune to it. That takes a long rest, right, correct, but you cannot bomb to it.
Speaker 2:you cannot attune to it, smash it so glenn will wrap it back up in the oil cloth and put it back under water okay, no. I'm just kidding. This is true. Glenn will shrugged his shoulders and put it in his bag of holding.
Speaker 4:Okay, wonderful, all right. So while you guys are doing your short rest, morris, you feel a tugging at your mind and you hear a voice that says you seem to be the most rational of this group. Perhaps you and I could come to an agreement.
Speaker 5:Oh, hi there. Who's this now?
Speaker 4:I'm Skogoth Hi. Hi I'm Morris Earlier. Yes, you were not with the group earlier. They had a large female beast with them prior to this.
Speaker 5:Oh yeah, I've heard about her. She seems nice Hehe.
Speaker 4:Uh sure, anyway, do you want to come to some sort of agreement?
Speaker 5:Uh well, I'd certainly love to hear what you have to say. I'd much rather not have to fight with you if I don't have to.
Speaker 4:Well, I will say that I could much rather not have to fight with you. If I don't have to, well, I will say that I could provide you with something that you desire. Perhaps you want to get to your mother immediately. I could send you and your companions there. I could bring back one of your mother figures from your past. Perhaps you missed the one named Adelaide.
Speaker 5:Oh, you sure know a lot about me. How could you even do that?
Speaker 4:I have a unique set of skills and powers.
Speaker 5:I don't know. That sounds pretty dangerous. I should probably check with my friends. And what is it you want from me?
Speaker 4:I just want to be left alone for another four ten days. Four ten I just wanted to be left alone for another 4-10 days 4-10?.
Speaker 5:Well, uh, I don't know, it's kind of a big decision. How is it a big?
Speaker 4:decision. All I want you to do is walk away and I will send you To the island to see your mother, or I will bring back the ones you love. What do you want?
Speaker 5:I sure do miss all of our traveling companions and I do fear for whatever is happening where my mother is, but I don't think I can make this decision by myself. This is very impactful. We're here to stop some murders and maybe, if you could help us with that, we might be able to walk away.
Speaker 4:I can promise you that no one else from the land will be murdered Like ever by me Myself. I will not murder anybody else.
Speaker 5:Have you been killing the others?
Speaker 4:I mean not me, but in my party.
Speaker 5:yes, Well, that makes this a little bit more of a tricky ordeal. Hmm, and then I'll tune back out to the people. Hey guys, I'm getting a voice in my head again. It's Skogoth, and he wants us to kind of go away. In exchange, he might uh stop the murders or give us free passage to, uh, my mother's town, where we have to stop that other elder god from rising, or even bring back Adelaide huh, glenn says that's interesting.
Speaker 2:He wanted me to kill all of you oh nines will comment I declined that all seems so specific did?
Speaker 5:did you also have a conversation? And more is now looking at monty and uh, nines, since glenn didn't, shakar is with us.
Speaker 3:Monty says no, what did he say about Adelaide?
Speaker 5:Just that it's within his power to bring back those that I love and possibly a mother figure, and you know, Adelaide was always there.
Speaker 3:That sounds not too bad, considering the alternative. Going down there Points towards the stairs, we think.
Speaker 2:Do you think we can trust him? I'm sorry, Nines, did you have a conversation in your head? I mean, we all have conversations in our head all the time. It wasn't really noteworthy.
Speaker 6:Well, actually I had some thoughts about this wall.
Speaker 2:Go ahead and turn back to Morse. So do you think we can trust him? I mean, he tried to make a deal with me, um, to kill all of you and then leave, and he would give me rewards, but I kinda didn't want to do that. Well, he does seem to be consistent in what he wants to just be left alone wards, but I kinda didn't want to do that.
Speaker 5:Well, he does seem to be consistent in what he wants to just be left alone. So that might be worth trusting, if not for his word itself. And if he doesn't carry out his end, there's nothing that says that we don't come back and have another talk with him.
Speaker 2:Um well, I think we should go kill him.
Speaker 1:I mean, I wouldn't mind having.
Speaker 2:Go ahead.
Speaker 3:I can understand the position of going off and killing this person but, to be 100% honest, I'm not too sure about this Hothunwar character, and she is really on the up and up. She seems to be stringing us along, and being some politician's puppet is not something I have thoroughly enjoyed. I would rather just continue our way to Deadpelt Shadows.
Speaker 2:So I hear you, but hear me out on this the puppet masters that try to use us as their puppets. They tend to not really get what they're going for. We kind of do our own thing anyway. Historically.
Speaker 3:I would happen to agree.
Speaker 2:I mean we're not even in the same reality that we were in six months ago or, sorry, six, ten days ago. But yeah, I'm down, for you know, we go down there and kill this gogorth guy or gal, maybe, I don't know, I couldn't really tell, didn't really have a gender in his voice or her voice. Um, or we can accept, we can leave, and I mean he's in our head, so he's going to know if I say we can leave, take the free transport and then we can come back and kill him. So we can right now plan that we're not going to. As you hear the silent dot dot dot on the end of his sentence. You can tell, but no, on the end of his sentence you can tell.
Speaker 6:But, no, nine's head. Nine's head is empty.
Speaker 3:Devoid of anything.
Speaker 2:Nine's isn't even in Nine's head.
Speaker 6:He took to the training quite well. Ah yeah, empty your mind. He was just like always like right there.
Speaker 2:Yeah so he used like a snow digger to empty his mind.
Speaker 3:You're saying there wasn't a lot to get rid of.
Speaker 6:I'm saying that he is adept at meditating. What are you guys saying that?
Speaker 2:he's dumb. Yeah, yeah that, wow, I'm saying that he is adept at meditating.
Speaker 6:What are you guys saying? That he's dumb, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:That Wow, I'm sorry.
Speaker 3:I may have misread that he's really good at meditating.
Speaker 2:All right. So I mean Glenn's thoughts are he's good with Jesse?
Speaker 3:What, whatever oh?
Speaker 2:No, my screen just popped up and said Loading Alexa. I don't know why. Oh, I thought I did something wrong, Sorry. So Glenn is good with either going down and killing this Goggoth guy gal or taking his offer and leaving the temple and going to dead pelt shadows. Either way, he doesn't really have a preference because he's pretty sure that either one is going to be uh entertaining so that nines understands the situation.
Speaker 6:uh, mors and Glenn are both being propositioned by this Goggoth character to not go down and kill him, offering them things that they really want. That is correct In exchange for not killing this creature that we know is materially affecting the citizenry and committing murders. Correct, and we're considering taking that offer. Correct.
Speaker 2:I don't understand your confusion.
Speaker 3:Ha ha ha, sounds like a good deal.
Speaker 4:This, uh uh, this offer is uh Going to expire very shortly If you don't give me an answer. Elf.
Speaker 6:You're gonna expire very shortly Wait, if we don't give you an answer.
Speaker 2:I'm assuming is this Is this uh?
Speaker 4:That's to.
Speaker 2:Morse.
Speaker 5:He says we don't have much time.
Speaker 3:I don't quite get the. I understand this guy wanting to preserve his breathing nature. However, come I the things that he is promising, I do not see how he can deliver. I'd like to see a little bit of proof. Ask him for that Morse. Ask him for something Proof that he has the ability to bring back Adelaide. I'd like to see that first, and then we might decide to allow him to take us away from this area.
Speaker 5:And give us Adelaide. I think those together might be worth considering.
Speaker 3:I would much rather do that, to be 100% honest not that I am a person that goes out and I hate that this town is being people are being murdered and people being killed and there's a lot of injustice going on here but to be 100% honest, this is not my problem. There are other problems that are mine, that I would like to take care of, and those lie in Dead Pell's shadows.
Speaker 5:That's true. It would let us focus our attention on the bigger evil. Skogoth, can you hear me I say out loud, I guess for no reason, yes, I can literally hear your thoughts.
Speaker 4:Yes, I can hear you.
Speaker 5:He'll continue to speak out loud for, uh, the benefit of the team. How do we know we can trust you? How do we know you can actually do any of these things that you're promising?
Speaker 4:because I just told you I could. I mean I'm not going to do it.
Speaker 5:Before you take the deal right, but in order for us to take the deal, we have to put a lot of trust in you, and then extra trust on top of that to do things that don't seem possible, and I'm sorry I know I seem like I'm very skeptical, but I've I've been pretty trusting in the path and it's always turned out poorly for me.
Speaker 4:I like I'm more to just apologize to a straight up monster I'm sorry that I'm a little skeptical, but I'm sorry that I'm a little skeptical, but Well, I can immediately transport you. If you were all to leave this temple and go outside, I can immediately transport you to Deadpelt Shadows.
Speaker 5:So you could definitely do the Deadpelt Shadows transport. That seems like the most reasonable thing, though what about bringing back someone who may have not even existed in this timeline and he just puts his hand to his face and tries to?
Speaker 4:think about it, she does exist in this timeline.
Speaker 6:Nines will say you know my master the lion maybe I've told you of him before told me a story about the shadow of the crossroads, and in that story there was a creature who offered a weary traveler their hearts deepest desire, but those who accepted only found ashes for shadows. Their heart's deepest desire, but those who accepted only found ashes For shadows, grant nothing but illusions, that's, I'm pretty sure Skogath is a shadow here.
Speaker 5:See, that makes me think about this djinn we ran into. I'm not a djinn. Oh, I didn't say you were, I just sorry I'm talking to my companion here. You're still on hold, sir.
Speaker 4:Oh yeah, I guess I'll just hang out over here in your head.
Speaker 5:Yeah, that sounds good.
Speaker 4:You feel an exasperating emotion, just completely exasperated by this whole situation.
Speaker 6:Hey guys, mine's the most reasonable one right now. Can we get back on track here? Hey guys, nines is the most reasonable one right now, can we? Get back on track here yeah uh, of course, what do you suggest? Wait, what do I suggest? Or what does nine suggest? Uh, nines, more so that to nines uh, yeah, this feels a little too tempting and easy, which I don't have many alarm bells, uh, but this feels like regret.
Speaker 1:Hmm.
Speaker 5:I can see that it does feel selfish to try to take these things, but the greater evil I still do think is over in the Pelt Shadows.
Speaker 6:Yeah, but we're here, now we're like right here and this guy is like pleading for his own life. It feels pretty like good guy territory to go in and kill this thing.
Speaker 5:I always thought the good guy was the one who gave mercy and showed a chance to recovery.
Speaker 6:He said it's the guy who punches the hardest, and so I'm ready.
Speaker 2:Glenn says well, first let me preface this with good guy. Secondly, I'm kind of easily swayed with temptation. I mean that guy is kind of incompetent. I mean he didn't sway, he didn't tempt me and I'm kind of easy. I see shiny stuff when I go after it.
Speaker 1:So Allow me to convince you.
Speaker 6:One, I'm kind of a shit person and two, I think this is a great deal.
Speaker 2:So, I think why don't we go down there and take care of this guy then, and if we get face-to-face with him, maybe he'll make us a better offer right before he dies.
Speaker 4:Nines, I need you to give me a charisma saving, throw At advantage.
Speaker 6:Charisma saving throw.
Speaker 4:Right because as an elf, you get advantage on charisma saving throws, right Maybe?
Speaker 6:That sounds fun.
Speaker 4:Is that not true?
Speaker 6:I have no idea. Only charm. Oh, okay, then just charisma saving throw Not at advantage. So just a charisma saving throw, not at advantage, so just charisma saving throw, natural aid, whatever.
Speaker 4:Alright. So, nines, you feel a sharp pain in your mind and you. This pressure in your head starts getting worse and worse, until you drop to your knees.
Speaker 6:Oh my god, is this what thoughts are?
Speaker 2:And you are going to take I can't stand it.
Speaker 4:You are going to take nine points of psychic damage.
Speaker 6:Taking myself points of damage. I couldn't give my short rest to roll dice to heal me.
Speaker 2:I had to roll it manually.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I rolled it manually, and so it is hit die plus constitution. What is the?
Speaker 2:Hit die plus your constitution bonus.
Speaker 6:Okay, so that should be d10 plus 2.
Speaker 2:If you wanted to use 1, but you can use. You can use up to however many levels, you are right. So you can use up to 11.
Speaker 6:Yes, so, but what my monk hit die thing says when I click short, rest is 1d8 plus one with 11 dice Available. Yeah, so you can do it 11 times. And so my constitution is a plus 2, and so the 1d8 plus 1 is confusing me right now.
Speaker 5:So you'll get 3 to 10, always.
Speaker 2:Oh, you have to do Okay, so Sorry to do it. You hit the short rest, you choose the number you want to use and then it should pop up a dice thing underneath it a 1d8 plus whatever, or 2, 3, 4, whatever. You have to click that it rolls it. Then you click take short rest and it will add the hit points in.
Speaker 6:Okay, so let me show you what I'm discovering, what I'm gazing upon.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, did you already click? Take short rest.
Speaker 6:Yeah, so I've selected the number of dice that I want to expend, I click, take short rest, it counts down and then nothing. So I wonder if I have some sort of pop-up blocker.
Speaker 2:No, no, no. Click on a fourth die and then right below the bars, it should have a button that says 1d8 plus 1. And then when you click that, it will roll. And then, after it's rolled, then you click take short rest. And then when you click that it will roll. And then when you, after it's rolled, then you click take short rest and then click it again.
Speaker 6:That says confirm have I already used three yeah, you just have to roll them again.
Speaker 2:You'll have to roll them manually and then add it.
Speaker 6:You're absolutely right. As soon as I click the fourth one, that's when it says it gives me the extra roll box. Have I used three previously?
Speaker 5:You probably used the three boxes, but didn't roll the dice.
Speaker 2:Or maybe the last time we did a long rest, you did not click the long rest button.
Speaker 6:I don't know. All of that is stupid and I hate it. It's oh, wow, yeah, okay. And then I took how many damage? You said nine damage.
Speaker 2:Yes, it took you damage.
Speaker 6:Me damage exactly.
Speaker 4:Nine damage.
Speaker 6:I'm sorry to have sidetracked. You're good. Who's knee is that so?
Speaker 4:you are on your knees.
Speaker 6:So the rest of you sidetracked. You're good, he's in his act.
Speaker 4:Yeah, so you are on your knees. So the rest of you see Nines fall to his knees clutching his head. Nines, do you make any noise during this?
Speaker 6:No, Nines is very disciplined. He is going to explain what's happening.
Speaker 4:Okay.
Speaker 6:Yeah, wow, my head really hurts, guys. I think Skogath is disinviting me, oh.
Speaker 5:Well, I don't like that at all. I think, skogath, I'll speak up. Did you do this? Are you hurting my friend? You don't get a response. I don't get a response. Did you say that out loud?
Speaker 3:What a freaking Gen Z-er Did not say that out loud. What a freaking Gen Z-er.
Speaker 5:Did not say that out loud.
Speaker 3:No, this is my.
Speaker 5:Justin voice, not my Morse voice. I hope they sound different. I don't know if they do, they do.
Speaker 6:All in favor of killing Skogoth and Nigel Razor's hand From clutching his head.
Speaker 5:I don't want him dead, but I would like him to stop hurting people.
Speaker 2:I'm going to look at Mors and say, did he answer you?
Speaker 5:Oh no, he did not answer me.
Speaker 2:I think our offer might have expired.
Speaker 6:That's okay, yeah it's good that it sucks, right? We all agree.
Speaker 3:I doubt he could have delivered on the things he promised anyway, uh-huh.
Speaker 2:Uh-huh, I will say that it worries me a little bit that he could just randomly damage people.
Speaker 4:But Avalists are scary guys. That's so much that I'm going to say we shouldn't go after him.
Speaker 5:Can we make him stop? This might help, and I'm going to pull this rubber mask out of my pocket and just put it over your head. This will apply pressure. It looks good. It's not a mask.
Speaker 4:It's a rubber swimming cap.
Speaker 6:It's a swimming cap. Did you just put it on Nines' face?
Speaker 5:No, I put it on your head Over the top, the way it would be worn. I was wondering Did I say mask? Oh shit, well, I'm the way you wore it. I was wondering Did I say mask? Oh shit, you did. You did. Oops, well, I'm sorry. Yes, I put the rubber swim cap on and say this will apply pressure and it looks pretty good. And while you wear it, you can breathe under water.
Speaker 5:For some reason Nines doesn't look relieved. Oh, maybe I'll try to shift it a little bit. It's probably not. It doesn't feel good. Maybe I have it on backwards. Hold on a second.
Speaker 4:Nine screams Like this is a rubber swimming cap, right Like Nine's hair is getting pulled one direction or another every time he twists it.
Speaker 6:I think he has long hair. He's got a top. Yeah, he does. He's got like a top knot.
Speaker 4:Yeah, according to your picture. Yeah, so the psychic damage that penetrated directly into your brain. You just sat there stoically and took it.
Speaker 6:But as soon as that rubber cap was adjusted. Pulling the tiny hairs, bro, that shit hurt.
Speaker 2:You have a top knot or a man bun.
Speaker 6:A literal monk.
Speaker 5:Do you have like shave size of the ponytail on top? You look like Sam.
Speaker 6:I mean, maybe I've shared a picture before.
Speaker 2:Is there a picture? Oh?
Speaker 6:And it's on the D&D story.
Speaker 4:Splash screen, splash screen thing true, true, yes, nines was added to the splash screen and he's now on all of our cover art as well, and so yeah, it's like uh, I think probably shave sides and then long top into a, into a top knot sort of thing.
Speaker 6:Cool, all right, I mean it's a haircut.
Speaker 5:It's not that cool. It's got like the Avatar, feel you?
Speaker 6:could be. Yeah, like what's-his-face? Aang Aang, no, no, no, the other dude, the non-bender guy.
Speaker 4:Oh, the dude that's with him. I don't remember his name.
Speaker 5:Oh yeah, the boomerang trucker, man, the dude that's with him, I don't remember his name. Oh yeah, the boomerang trucker.
Speaker 6:Yeah, man, the brother from the water trap right, yeah, sokka, and no wait, it was Sokka.
Speaker 5:Yeah, that sounds right?
Speaker 2:Probably All right, so I think we should go take care of Skogoth.
Speaker 3:Yeah that's a good idea.
Speaker 4:What does Monty think of all this?
Speaker 3:He doesn't actually think that Skogoth would be able to deliver the things that he promised, so he's okay with continuing Okay.
Speaker 4:Alright, so what would you guys like to do?
Speaker 2:Did I find anything else in the room?
Speaker 5:No, well, it looks like the only way forward is through that water. I did pick up these potions of water breathing. I'll pull out four potions of water breathing.
Speaker 4:There's six. You have two of them.
Speaker 3:Oh, I have two of them.
Speaker 5:I thought Nines had two, but yeah.
Speaker 4:Or maybe Nines has two. I didn't put them in my inventory.
Speaker 6:I have two potions of water breathing and two potions of healing.
Speaker 3:I just got one potion of healing Greater healing.
Speaker 4:They're in parentheses. There was four potions of greater healing total there's four potions of greater healing. Three potions of healing and six potions of water breathing.
Speaker 2:So, glenn, I think, got two of the potions of healing. Is that right? Water breathing? So, glenn, I think, got two of the potions of healing. Is that right? Correct or did I have those from somewhere else? Nope, you got them, you got 600 gold.
Speaker 5:Two greater healing potions monty got a healing potion of 400 gold, nine's got 350 and two greater healing and two potions of water breathing. More's got 300 gold, two greater healing potions and four potions of water breathing, and bean sprout got 63 gold, two greater healing potions and four potions of water breathing and Beansprout got 63 silver.
Speaker 3:I'm going to need one of those things if we're going to go down there. And he points to the potions and then to the stairs.
Speaker 5:Of course. Mors will hand one over to you.
Speaker 6:Listen, I don't go down often, but when I do, I need a potion of water breathing, if you know what I mean.
Speaker 1:I won't go down in history, but I'll go down on you.
Speaker 3:Monty kind of reluctantly pops the cap on the vial and then chugs it and says I hate the weather.
Speaker 4:Yeah, Monty, as you drink it, it tastes like a pleasant Sunday afternoon drink.
Speaker 6:I don't know why, but I thought it would be like straight seawater. Nines is going to down his own potion. You have a hat that lets you breathe underwater. Oh yeah, Actually the thing that I meant to ask about the apparently shower cap of water, breathing, I mean, you can drink a potion. Does that require attunement, or is it just?
Speaker 4:It does not require attunement.
Speaker 6:Okay, so I can add cap of water breathing to my inventory now that it's been thrust upon my benotted head, correct?
Speaker 2:Glenn will take one of the potions and drink it.
Speaker 5:Morris will also drink one.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 6:Nines is going to tuck his hair into the can.
Speaker 5:And then, yeah, I think there's a timer on these potions.
Speaker 3:we should get Monty's already walking into the water. Okay.
Speaker 1:No, a little timer did not pop up, Glenn oh.
Speaker 4:Monty's already walking into the water. He put his bow no a little timer did not pop up. Glenn oh Monty, the moment your foot touches the water, you hear a voice and you get a sense of dread inside of you. Roll me a charisma, save.
Speaker 3:I would like to use my inspiration. Go for it, roll, because a 5 ain't't gonna probably cut it. Uh, 17 will yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4:So this, this says oh, little tabaxi, I can feel that tremor in your heart, the way your fur bristles at the thought of this dark, endless water. The water terrifies you, doesn't it? The cold, suffocating embrace of the deep, where no light dares to go. You fear drowning in it, being consumed by what lies beneath. But it doesn't have to be this way. You can turn around, leave the temple. I can take the fear from you. Imagine it, just leave. Or you can resist me. You can come and face me and you will face the very thing you fear most. The water will find you, surround you, drag you down into its depths and I promise you, little Tabaxi, it'll be far worse than your darkest nightmares. So, monty, you do, uh, you are frightened by this, but you do not take a level of exhaustion which would have happened if you failed this save.
Speaker 3:Glad I used my inspiration. Okay, so I have the frightened effect condition. Is that something? No?
Speaker 4:no, no, you don't have the condition. You're just a little frightened by it, just a little scared, a little scaredy cat, if you will.
Speaker 3:A little fraidy cat A little fraidy cat Monty continues into the water. He's over the water thing and definitely not scared of this Skogath person. All right, he will sling his bow onto his back and pull out the spear that Adelaide gave him. Okay, as he's walking into the depths.
Speaker 4:All right, Real quick for our listeners and our players that aren't familiar with everybody understand how underwater combat works.
Speaker 6:No, okay, it's like overwater combat, except three-dimensional.
Speaker 4:Yes, it is three-dimensional, that is true, all right. So basic rules for underwater combat when making a melee weapon attack, a creature that doesn't have a swimming speed, either natural or granted by magic, has disadvantage on the attack roll unless the weapon is a dagger, javelin, short sword, spear or trident. A ranged weapon attack automatically misses a target if it's beyond the weapon's normal range. Even against a target within normal range, the attack roll has disadvantage unless the weapon is a crossbow net or the weapon is thrown like a javelin which includes a spear, trident or dart. Creatures and objects that are fully immersed in water have resistance to fire damage.
Speaker 1:Well, good.
Speaker 2:So would we know this as characters?
Speaker 4:No, I'm just explaining it to you as players.
Speaker 6:Those specific rules are just like general water characters. Yeah, why would we not know this? As characters we're what level?
Speaker 5:11?.
Speaker 4:We're pretty, yeah, but why would you know you have disadvantage on an attack roll.
Speaker 5:You wouldn't know that. You know it's more difficult to fight underwater.
Speaker 4:Sure, yeah, you guys know it's more difficult to fight underwater. Sure, yeah, you guys know it's more difficult to fight underwater.
Speaker 5:So yeah, not the mechanics of it, but how to do the stuff. They would still be familiar with the shortcomings.
Speaker 4:I see what you're asking.
Speaker 3:Monty would know that his bow is not going to work very well underwater, correct. That's the reason he pulled out his spear.
Speaker 5:Okay, yeah, I think that feels good. Thank you All right. Okay, yeah, I think that yeah, that feels good.
Speaker 4:Thank you, alright, so alright, so who's first in line, and is everybody entering the water?
Speaker 6:Yeah, let's go.
Speaker 4:I don't know which order. Who's taking it? Go ahead, Glenn.
Speaker 2:Go ahead. No, I was just going to say Glenn is entering as well, but I don't know who's in front.
Speaker 3:Probably not Glenn. I think Monty who's in front.
Speaker 4:Probably not Glenn, I think Monty can go in front. Monty went in the front and then Nines where?
Speaker 6:are you? I'll call Monty. Yeah, I should be up front.
Speaker 4:Okay, so you're all underwater. So this submerged tunnel, it snakes westward for about a mile. It's flooded along its entire length. You guys see that the rocky stairs continuously go down. It goes down to. It opens up about 40 feet underwater on the seafloor and a few hundred feet off of a deserted stretch of coastline you can see the top of the temple is, as you can see, a temple far in the distance. So I'm going to start a session here. You should, I should be able to start it.
Speaker 5:Feels like a long way to swim, holy shit.
Speaker 4:Yeah, it is long way to swim, so I started this, but this is the entrance to the temple, just so you guys can see this. All right so the, okay, yeah. So, as you guys can see this, uh, all right so the okay, yeah. So, as you guys are swimming, uh, along the, the, this deserted stretch of coastline, the only visible mark you see in the distance is this large temple. Uh, you can see do do?
Speaker 4:I apologize, I was not, was not prepared. You think I would be. Yeah, so you can see around that the you can see seaweed growing all along the coast here. Except for directly around the temple, there's no kind of growth. The fish and all the other sea creatures seem to avoid this area. It almost seems like the colors are washed out. You can see that the uh is even a different color here. It it grows thick. Um, it almost seems like there's a mud hanging in the air and there's an ever-present hum that that thrums the closer you get to it.
Speaker 6:Um, I hate that. Yeah, even even the, the mental image that you're projecting you. You can't see shit and it sounds terrible to be there.
Speaker 4:So the structure itself. As you get closer, it starts to emerge from this gloom and it almost looks like a wound itself. The architecture is alien and ancient. It's disturbing. Architecture is alien and ancient. Um, it's disturbing. Uh, it's twisted into some unnatural angles that if you stare at it too long, if you gaze upon it too long, it actually hurts your mind. Uh, the, uh, yeah, exactly, um, so the, the stones themselves, they're, they're a dark, slick color. They've got a sheen almost like it's an oily covering or an oily film on the stones and they're writhing a slight, sickly purple color with runes. And those, as you get closer, are what is actually causing you to feel sick if you stare at it too long.
Speaker 2:Are they carved in or are they just magically projecting off of it?
Speaker 4:They're magically projected. Okay, you can see ships that have hit this, as pieces of ships and wood splinters all around the area where ships have gone on top of it and and scraped the bottom or scrape the top of this temple and pieces of it have, uh, pieces of the ships have come off in the ocean around it, um, and you can tell that the temple itself has has taken a beating from these ships. You can tell that the, the, the temple's missing, uh, bits of rock and stone that have come across. That is now. They're now laying on the water around it. But as you get closer and as you're about to enter this different color of water there's you get this, this deeper, darker sense of oppressiveness that you none of you can shake. There's something ancient here I'm a Levin lint and that stirs beneath the surface and you can shake. There's something ancient here, m11-lint, that stirs beneath the surface and you can feel every muscle in your being wanting to pull you away from this area. Alright, you guys want to go in?
Speaker 3:Yeah, sounds great, we're here, aren't?
Speaker 5:we? Sounds like a party Duty calls.
Speaker 2:Yay, so as we're going along, I'm sure glenn or somebody will have been trying to speak. Can we speak underwater?
Speaker 4:yes, you can of water reading yep, so uh, I looked this up specifically because I didn't want to completely nerf the party with this. This encounter, right, so anything, if you can breathe underwater, you can speak underwater, which means any kind of spells that require a verbal component. You can still cast them. The only real disadvantage are weapons underwater and movement and movement, correct.
Speaker 5:My question for you is have we had a mental clock going of how long we have left and movement correct? My question for you is have we had a mental clock going of how long we have left with our potions? Are we in desperate need of air, are we?
Speaker 4:feeling pretty comfortable. Yeah, so each of you, from traveling so much, you can keep an accurate time in your heads and you know that about 45 minutes have passed since you started your adventure Underwater, underwater.
Speaker 5:Three or four more sessions, we should be good, you know that about 45 minutes have passed since you started your adventure.
Speaker 4:Okay, underwater, underwater. Three or four more sessions, we should be good.
Speaker 2:Yeah, three or four more sessions, you should be fine. So we've just spent. Three quarters of the frickin' duration of this potion has been spent.
Speaker 4:No, it's a six-hour potion, it's a one-hour potion. It's a one-hour potion. Is it a one-hour potion? It it's a one-hour potion.
Speaker 5:It's a one-hour potion. Is it a one-hour potion? It sure is. That's why we were talking about bags of holdings and other workarounds.
Speaker 4:Why did I think it was a six-hour?
Speaker 2:I don't know.
Speaker 6:Yours can be six hours. Yours can be six hours.
Speaker 4:So these are superior potions of water breathing, oh the greater.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean, and I think that really is the point, how long do you need us to be water breathing?
Speaker 4:For at least three hours.
Speaker 6:Yeah, there you go yeah.
Speaker 4:I don't know why I even have in my notes here six hours of water breathing.
Speaker 5:That was our total amount we had. Maybe that's what I was thinking Before we started getting into Water breathing. That was our total amount we had. Maybe that's what I was thinking that way Before we started getting into dangerous alternate means.
Speaker 4:Yeah, so yeah, as you guys enter the one entrance from the temple, you see that most of the roof is gone from the upthrust spire of the stairs that you're entering, but portions of the wall and their arch windows remain. You do see seaweed, bits of seaweed, but it's not embedded into the rock, it's just like loose on the ground On the staircase. As you descend deeper into the foot of the tower, dead seaweed, yeah, dead seaweed Just laying there.
Speaker 6:Like leaves covering the ground.
Speaker 4:So, Matty, you are in the front, is that correct?
Speaker 3:Yes.
Speaker 4:Alright, I need you to give me an intelligent saving throw, and whoever is directly behind him can assist him with this. That's me, you nines, yeah, alright, both of you give me an intelligent saving throw. Natural eight. Got a throw. Natural 8. Got a 12. Natural 8. Oh, no wait, I get plus 3 for 11. Okay, so a 12 and an 11. Alright, justin. Odds or evens.
Speaker 5:Odds, because Mors is an odd character.
Speaker 4:Alright. So, Monty, as you're swimming along you, uh, you, as you, as you reach into the stairwell, you feel a pressure and you break through that and you trigger something and you feel a surge of energy entering that area. It's a trap. It's a trap and all of you are going to take.
Speaker 3:I actually have a feat that prevents us from being trapped, specifically underwater, by things that deal with pressure.
Speaker 4:I mean, I wouldn't doubt that because you guys, surprise me with that shit all the time, but do you actually?
Speaker 5:This is a forest right.
Speaker 1:This is a forest.
Speaker 5:This is my favorite terrain.
Speaker 4:Each of you are going to take 13 points of lightning damage.
Speaker 5:No, saves or anything.
Speaker 6:No, that was the save.
Speaker 4:That was the save. And, morris, as soon as this hits you, you identify it as a glyph of warding, do?
Speaker 5:I also take lightning damage, or just those two.
Speaker 4:Yes, all four of you take lightning damage.
Speaker 5:That's the save I was asking for.
Speaker 6:No, I see.
Speaker 5:It's because it's salt water.
Speaker 6:It just like yeah, it's physics.
Speaker 3:I don't have that feat, but I do have natural explorer. Is that going to do me any good here? No, it's not Staying alert to danger. No, how much damage you say 11.
Speaker 4:I said 11 points of lightning damage. Say what 11 points of lightning damage?
Speaker 6:Didn't I just do 13?
Speaker 4:Did I say 13?
Speaker 5:I didn't write it down. I took 14.
Speaker 4:Hold up, we're going to round it down to say 11 points of lightning damage for everybody, everybody.
Speaker 6:I'm going to heal myself for two 11 points, got it.
Speaker 5:I did good math. Can we play back?
Speaker 4:the tape. I'm going to listen to this when I edit it in two months and we'll find out In two months After we'll find out Two months After I get back from. Iceland. I mean, we're three months behind on episodes. Oh God, I still have two episodes in the bank right now.
Speaker 5:All right, how did?
Speaker 4:we get such a backlog Because I was a shithead and I didn't publish anything for close to a month and a half.
Speaker 5:Oh, Now we have a buffer.
Speaker 4:That's what I've been working on. It's every two weeks, right? Yeah, it's supposed to be.
Speaker 3:Monty is going to try to stay more alert Got it.
Speaker 5:Now that Mors knows it was a good rewarding, am I also going to look for signs that might cue me into that? Okay, should there be one available.
Speaker 4:Yeah, mors, you do see where Monty triggered it and you do see a carving of what looks like a lightning symbol into the stone, but it's hidden amongst all the other runes that are glowing on and off, so if Monty didn't know to look for it, he would have missed it.
Speaker 5:Okay, I will call to Monty. We can speak normal because we have water breathing. Monty, that blast we just experienced, it's because of this and I'll point it out to him very specifically so that he can see what it was. And I'm also going to cast Dancing Lights just to have them kind of scout ahead and make sure all the nooks and crannies are lit as we traverse so that if he's looking I assume he's going to be looking he'll be able to see into those nooks and crannies more gooder. Yep, so I'll make four little torch, torch, torch sized lights, and so we're still gonna take the fiery birds that Morris always took. They'll be going about 60 feet ahead of me to try to scout the way and they'll be focusing specifically on making sure Monty can see the nooks and crannies.
Speaker 4:Perfect, All right. So you all turn a corner and as you turn the corner you reveal some fog here. As you turn the corner and walk down the stairs, you see some rubble at the bottom of the stairs and an entrance into what looks like a larger room.
Speaker 3:Monty will continue down the path and take a right, wondering why there's stairs underwater.
Speaker 4:Is he still swimming down?
Speaker 3:We're just going.
Speaker 2:Can we just swim down like that?
Speaker 4:Yeah, you could, absolutely Okay.
Speaker 2:Go ahead and we'll shake his head and swim up to the Okay.
Speaker 3:Just jump over the banister.
Speaker 5:Or just jump over the banister Next to Glenn. I give him a little elbow and go funny.
Speaker 4:Funny. All right, so you guys see a larger room here. What you see is a bunch of rubble all over the room and you see a giant hole in the center of the room. But there's, of course we do.
Speaker 4:Yeah, you see a giant hole in the center of the room, but there's. It seems like that's still Of course we do. Yeah, you see a giant hole in the center and you see a, but it's a little difficult to see too far in the room. You can't make out everything in the room because there's silt kicked up everywhere.
Speaker 3:I have silt vision. I have dark vision.
Speaker 2:Do you have silt vision though you can have salt vision. Do you have silt vision? I have underwater vision.
Speaker 1:Do you actually?
Speaker 2:No, you don't.
Speaker 4:Is that a thing? It is a thing, but I don't have it.
Speaker 6:I'm sure it is a thing Underwater vision is a thing it's gotta be a thing, sea elves.
Speaker 4:Oh, solid point.
Speaker 6:Sea elves, I heard what you said.
Speaker 2:I'm pretty sure they have it.
Speaker 6:It doesn't make sense.
Speaker 4:No, there's not actual underwater vision. No special ability, not in 5e at least. Alright. So as you all enter this room, you hear two distinct voices start speaking to you, and neither of them sound like the voice of Skogoth, but you all hear this at the same time. Are you here to hurt or to help? We're here to help. Have you come to kill the young one?
Speaker 2:Well, I don't know about that. I don't know who the young one is.
Speaker 5:I'm pretty sure that's Sawgoth or whatever this dude is. This is what Glenn is saying oh. I'm sorry.
Speaker 4:Are you one of Skogoth's agents?
Speaker 3:Well, who at first? Who are you?
Speaker 4:We are ones that oppose, oppose who. Skogoth, I mean context of the conversation. You weren't here for the whole thing.
Speaker 1:Well, you kind of left it unclear.
Speaker 3:Clearly you're down here in this temple. How do we know you're not his followers? How can we be sure?
Speaker 4:This is Therizdun's temple.
Speaker 6:Wait, yeah what are you doing here? Anyway, we're here to kill the young one. You're here to venerate Skogoth. Is that why you're in this temple? Why are you assuming why I'm in this temple?
Speaker 4:Nine's gaslighting the fuck out of monsters.
Speaker 2:So are you here to kill Skogath?
Speaker 4:Do you know where he is?
Speaker 2:Do you know where he is?
Speaker 4:No, if I knew, why would I ask you, if I knew where he was?
Speaker 2:I don't know why would you ask if you already knew?
Speaker 4:He's on first. Yeah, exactly, we have been sent here on a mission. We are to kill Skogoth and deal with the Kraken. Are you here to help?
Speaker 6:or to hurt? Quick question what the fuck the Kraken? Are you here to help or to hurt? Quick question what the fuck A Kraken? Can you go back to that part?
Speaker 4:I mean, it's a young Kraken.
Speaker 2:Glenn says that we read about the Kraken. It was in that flyer book thing that we read.
Speaker 4:Yeah, it's almost like I've been dropping hints about that.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I play this game every two weeks.
Speaker 2:I know, let's be polite. What's your name? I don't want to say hey, you.
Speaker 4:We are one. We have no name.
Speaker 2:Okay. So you're one, Okay, one Is there a two with a w
Speaker 3:one wait a second. This sounds like the crystals oh my god, more crystals um'm not a crystal.
Speaker 4:And as the silt starts to settle out emerges a imposing elongated form. It kind of reminds you of an eel, but it's got this deep Like a loose skin right around its neck.
Speaker 2:Oh sorry.
Speaker 4:No, it's got a deep, inky blue skin and it stretches about 20 feet long. It's covered in pulsating, rigid muscles, giving it an unsettling fluidity in its movement, and its belly is lined with dozens of tentacle-like fins that ripple and twitch as it glides effortlessly through the water. Based off of what you've all learned, you recognize this immediately as an Aboleth.
Speaker 2:So is it? I'm confused. Is this what's talking to us?
Speaker 4:It stops short and says I would like to welcome you and I ask you once more are you here to help or to hurt?
Speaker 2:I've already told you we're here to help.
Speaker 4:Wonderful. We're trying to summon the Kraken from this hole.
Speaker 1:Did you try holding?
Speaker 2:out a treat that it likes and whistling have you tried lifting your knees and bearing down. So is this the thing that was talking? Did the voice change or is this the same? I'm confused.
Speaker 4:This is not the voice from up above that you guys were hearing in the temple. No, no, it's not.
Speaker 2:Skogath.
Speaker 4:Skogath is an Appaluth and this is a good Appaluth. This is a different Appaluth, another Appaluth. This is a different Appaluth.
Speaker 2:Who's the young one?
Speaker 6:Can we clarify? Kraken Aboleths are evil.
Speaker 4:Yes, all Aboleths are evil. Wow, you can't say all.
Speaker 2:Have you met all of them?
Speaker 6:Right, this is like we peeked into the uh, the storm drain and there's a clown down there and he's like hang on, guys, I'm just a normal clown. Can you just like talk to me for a minute?
Speaker 4:yeah, but we're not going to put the part about the orgy with children in there no, no, we no no.
Speaker 6:We are not Stephen King, right? We don't write about child orgies, obviously, obviously. My point being that we are delving into this lair and the very first thing we encounter is basically pure evil.
Speaker 2:But he wants to kill a different, pure evil.
Speaker 6:I'm sorry, maybe you misunderstood me.
Speaker 5:Are you a paladin? That means your character sheet wrong Hold on.
Speaker 6:No dude, I am simply asking questions.
Speaker 1:I'm.
Speaker 6:Tucker Carlson-ing this situation.
Speaker 4:Okay, so let's back up for a second. I might not have communicated this well, so table talk right now. Skogoth has been raising a kraken, which he has been pushing his own religious beliefs on. The kraken is the one that is actually taking people from the surface and eating them. Skogoth is commanding Chules or other creatures that it has dominated, to cause chaos in the city. So the city does not recognize that people are just missing for no random reason. So the city does not recognize that people are just missing for no random reason. These two Aboleths are against Chogoth Against Skogoth, are against Skogoth, but you don't know why.
Speaker 2:Oh, is this a different Kraken?
Speaker 6:There's one Kraken. Skogoth is down with different Kraken.
Speaker 2:There's one Kraken there's only one Kraken.
Speaker 6:Skogoth is down with the Kraken.
Speaker 2:Skogoth is down with the Kraken same team but this guy just said this Juan just said that he is summoning a Kraken to kill it.
Speaker 4:He is here to kill the young one, oh so he's summoning a Kraken To kill it.
Speaker 2:He is here to kill the young one. Oh, so he's summoning the Kraken.
Speaker 6:Golgoth isn't the young one Golgoth is raising it.
Speaker 1:R-A-I-S-E Raised, so he's helping it grow up, oh, okay.
Speaker 4:So if I didn't communicate that correctly, that's on me.
Speaker 2:No, it's English, it's raise, as in you summon it from the ether, or raise, as in it's young and you're helping it grow up.
Speaker 5:Or raise, as in pillage and plunder.
Speaker 3:Or raise, as in paying it more.
Speaker 5:Or raise, as in bringing it more, or raised, as in uh bring it then childhood, yeah or denied raise as in, like what the sun shoots at us, raise of sunshine yes, this has been in english by a dnd story raised, brought to you by the letter X.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so I thought that Episode 132.
Speaker 6:I'm glad for the clarification because I was under the assumption that we should be untrusting of these guys.
Speaker 2:I'm not saying you should trust these guys.
Speaker 4:I want to be very clear about that. I'm sorry.
Speaker 6:I meant adversarial, fair enough Story-wise. Right now it's I'm sorry, I meant adversarial, fair enough Story-wise. Yep, like right now it's Skogoth and the Kraken who are the bad guys and these Aboleths are perhaps unwanted allies or unfit allies?
Speaker 1:Not really allies, just enemy of our enemy.
Speaker 5:Exactly.
Speaker 2:Aren't we the bad guys? I'm pretty sure that we're the bad guys.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I think we're the bad guys, but that's okay.
Speaker 2:I mean Mors doesn't get it. But I think Glenn and Monty understand that they're the bad guys.
Speaker 4:From a DM standpoint.
Speaker 2:I always imagine Mors walking around with you guys thinking in his head I can fix them see I think of moore's is walking around going no, he means he's trying to help, glenn is trying to help, monty's trying to help, and it might look like they're doing bad things, but I believe users for the actively battered like a beaten woman. We're not going to go there. I want to leave that one alone Does everybody understand where we're at with the story.
Speaker 6:Like a domestic violence sufferer.
Speaker 5:Where is the second aboleth? That is us we.
Speaker 4:It has not revealed itself yet.
Speaker 5:Okay, just making sure.
Speaker 2:Okay, alright. So Glenn says well, juan, we are here to help get rid of the Kraken. So I'm confused on you're summoning the Kraken, but you're get rid of the Kraken. So I'm confused on you're summoning the Kraken but you're getting rid of the Kraken thing.
Speaker 4:But if yeah, what do you do? I'm not going to go down in the hole with the Kraken.
Speaker 2:Are you wanting? Us to go down in the hole with the Kraken. No.
Speaker 4:I'm summoning it right now. It'll be up shortly. My brother and I, we just have to continue the ritual.
Speaker 2:Your brother.
Speaker 4:And as you ask that question, a second Aboleth reveals itself.
Speaker 2:Hey man, keep it in your pants, no revealing yourselves. I mean, you're already a long, tubular, fleshy thing so With lots of teeth and tentacles.
Speaker 4:Yeah, so like a normal penis, just as God intended, all right, okay, so both Aboleths walk over to the hole over here.
Speaker 2:Not even looking at the screen.
Speaker 4:so yeah, both Aboleths walk over to the hole and you can see them waving their arms frantically. Yes, Glenn.
Speaker 2:So the two tubular Aboleths are heading towards the dark hole.
Speaker 4:Correct, but they're not going in.
Speaker 6:Okay, not even the tip Nope Going to be a lot teasing, not even the tip.
Speaker 4:Nope.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 4:Going to be a lot of legs, but no tip so they're not even like touching the outside in any way, they're just going to circle around the outside, just right here, yeah.
Speaker 6:But is there, like a a specific point around the home, some sort of apex perhaps?
Speaker 4:Yeah, it's like right about here. Don't ask why it's green.
Speaker 1:So does it look?
Speaker 2:like a man in a boat.
Speaker 6:That's what I understand. Okay, alright, does Lauren know that this is what you think?
Speaker 4:I mean she hasn't divorced me yet.
Speaker 2:Yet Still.
Speaker 4:Yet Still early on it is.
Speaker 6:Who's going to use this as evidence against you?
Speaker 4:Yeah, I mean historically I'm bad at marriage, so Well, so far you're 50%. So far, 50%, all right. So yeah, theis walk over to this, this hole, and they start waving arms frantically. You can see that Ablis 1 over here Is moving its mouth a lot, but you can't really hear what it's saying.
Speaker 6:And you suddenly see, Do you know? A sound travels three times faster in the water than in air. I do actually.
Speaker 3:You know, we're all submarine guys, right.
Speaker 6:I am simply asking a question.
Speaker 2:We can't hear him.
Speaker 6:Even though I'm just, I didn't mean to insult your intelligence.
Speaker 4:You see the mouth move, but you do not hear anything. That is correct, okay, thank you. Can I read?
Speaker 2:his lips Sorry.
Speaker 1:Morse has feet.
Speaker 5:That's a read, avalis don't have lips.
Speaker 4:Avalis do not have lips. Next question.
Speaker 5:They have mouth holes. Can I read his mouth hole? Nope.
Speaker 4:Your interpretation is yeah just like the woman.
Speaker 5:Hang on, guys. I'm getting a feel for this language.
Speaker 6:Guys, I'm aroused. I don't know what happened.
Speaker 3:Told you we hit hour two.
Speaker 5:Okay, I guess the real answer is do ablis have to use their mouths to speak, or are they only psychic?
Speaker 4:No, they typically speak psychically or telepathically.
Speaker 5:I have to see the creature's mouth while it speaks the language that I understand, which I understand all the languages because I'm a man.
Speaker 2:Alright, anyway, the creature's mouth while it speaks the language that I understand, which I understand all the languages, because, alright, anyway. So Glenn will say Ektorp and summon his rapier and start swinging it around.
Speaker 6:At disadvantage underwater.
Speaker 2:He's swinging it around to see how his movement, and moving around because he's about to fight something and he is probably not that well versed in underwater combat, so he's kind of getting a feel for what it is.
Speaker 4:Okay. So as the Zabalists continue their ceremony or their ritual, you see tentacles grab the edges of this crater and after a few moments, a large beast emerges from the hole and you see a juvenile kraken appear. Aw, it's cute, it's adorable, it is kind of cute. Immediately, the juvenile Kraken grabs Aboleth one and pulls it down below the surface.
Speaker 2:Glenn yells one Wait, was that one or the other one? It?
Speaker 4:was the other one. The other one.
Speaker 2:Oh, okay.
Speaker 3:Not that one. The other one, are you okay?
Speaker 6:Pulls it down below the surface.
Speaker 4:It's all underwater.
Speaker 6:What is it you like? Pulls it down below the lip of the hole.
Speaker 4:Yeah, the lip of the hole.
Speaker 2:Tentacles reaching up from the hole, grabbing the tube and pulling it down. Yeah, that's scary.
Speaker 4:So is this Kraken?
Speaker 5:playing like peekaboo with us, like his eyes popping up.
Speaker 4:Yes, that's exactly it.
Speaker 5:Damn it, that is cute.
Speaker 4:Alright, so I need everybody to roll me some initiative.
Speaker 2:Guys, let's quickly figure out how do we make our sheets come?
Speaker 4:Monty with a 24.
Speaker 3:I'm sure I probably don't want to go first, but I get to Yay.
Speaker 4:Mors with a 22. Come on 17.
Speaker 3:My little good rolls, I get to run in there first.
Speaker 1:I do the 17.
Speaker 4:What you got, Glenn? Glenn with a 13.
Speaker 2:So did Glenn learn anything about when he was swinging his sword around?
Speaker 4:You know that there's a greater pull on your sword and that you're not going to be able to swing it as well as you normally would in the air. Approximately a third of the speed, approximately. All right, monty, you are first.
Speaker 3:All right. Um how far can we travel? So it's half speed underwater, is that right? It's only got 15?.
Speaker 4:It is? It's basically moving in difficult terrain unless you have a natural swim speed yeah, unless you have a swim speed.
Speaker 3:Difficult terrain doesn't impose a disadvantage for me. Does that matter?
Speaker 4:Yes, it does, because it's not exactly difficult terrain here.
Speaker 6:On attacks what do you mean?
Speaker 3:No, I just want to see if you can't be impeded by difficult terrain.
Speaker 4:Yeah, on the surface you can't. Oh, okay, so you have half speed.
Speaker 3:Half speed. Alright, so I've got 45 feet to go to get to this thing. I'll be there in three turns. Dash motherfucker. To go to get to this thing. I'll be there in three turns, dash motherfucker. Yeah, I guess Monty will use the dash action just to move himself up 30 feet. Okay, which gets me to next to. I will take three. Would you like to do anything else? I'm gonna make some mayonnaise, pull out some jellies. I'm going to spread a bunch of mayonnaise in the water.
Speaker 4:Some jen-ay All right. Mors, you're up buddy.
Speaker 5:Yeah, so Mors is going to flip open his spell book and rest his eyes on a spell called Watery Sphere and just shake his head, because it would be very helpful here in the water.
Speaker 4:Okay, while Mors is flipping through his spell book, I have a question. Yo Did you leave Bean?
Speaker 5:Sprout on the top side. I sent him to an astral plane with the word so at an action I can bring it back. Got it because I thought about that while we're on our way down too, and I did not roll for him for this. Uh, I was trying to find the spell, all right. Uh, what morris is gonna do is he's 45 feet away from this critterish Yep, right, yes, so I'm going to get out of their way behind me.
Speaker 5:So Glen and Nines are behind Morse. So he's going to swim kind of northerly and still have a line of sight on this kraken, and then he's going to cast Hold Monster at 5th level. Oooh, so can you explain that line of sight on this kraken? And then he's going to cast hold monster at fifth level. So can you explain that? Yeah, I get to pick a creature I can see within range and then it has to make attempt a wisdom saving throw. If it fails, it's paralyzed for the duration it doesn't work against any undead creatures and at the end of the creature's turn it can make another wisdom saving throw. If it passes, then it is freed from the paralysis condition, all right, so 15 plus 2, 17.
Speaker 5:uh, beats it okay, I think that's probably all I can really do. Uh, I'll check my internal clock, make sure we're still pretty healthy airwise.
Speaker 4:Yeah, you guys still have five hours for the superior underwater breathing potion, hell yeah.
Speaker 2:Good job, I think, if it was superior, it would have given us swimming as well.
Speaker 4:It's water breathing, not water swimming.
Speaker 5:Superior breathing they expect you to bring your normal diving gear.
Speaker 4:You guys didn't bring your fins.
Speaker 5:Okay, zoom tight. Morse is going to swim vertically like 10 feet Just up. Yeah, just a better angle, just to complicate things. Yeah, I hope you're ready for some Pythagorean.
Speaker 4:I'm ready, let's do it. Alright, so the Kraken is going to take two of his tentacles and he's going to smack this Aboleth. He's got to do his wisdom saving, throw first For what?
Speaker 3:Hold monster.
Speaker 4:No, it failed.
Speaker 3:Thank you for the failed Okay.
Speaker 4:Thank you for the backup. Sorry, I appreciate it. So he's going to swing two of his tentacles at this aboleth and you're going to see the aboleth get smacked down onto the sea floor Well, on the stones really and then he's going to kind of float back up a little bit and he's obviously taking some good damage there. Alright, Nines.
Speaker 6:So I am approximately 50 feet away from this quacken, yep, and I also can spend a ki point. Excuse me as Step of the Wind to make a dash as a bonus action. Ie double my move speed just for my bonus action. Okay, so I use my bonus action and my move to get up right next to the quacken El Quackenesia. I'm straight up in there. I'm up next to the quacken and I'm going to punch it in its stupid face. Punch it in its stupid face. Yeah, I think I'm going to. Yeah, I am going to straight up attack this biatch.
Speaker 4:Alright, give me some attack rolls.
Speaker 6:Rolled a 15 for a 23. Ooh, that does hit. And as my second action, or second attack, 14 plus 8 for 22. That does hit. So that's two damages, natural. 1 plus 4 for 5 and that's 6. Yeah, so 11 damage.
Speaker 4:So, nines, on your second punch, your fist sinks into the flesh of the Kraken a little bit and you feel a burning on your both forearms at the same time.
Speaker 6:Sorry, no, I'm using a quarterstaff.
Speaker 4:No, no, understood. Okay, that's fine, your quarterstaff hits it. Thank you for the correction. Quarterstaff hits the Kraken?
Speaker 6:Yeah no, I did roll unarmed attack. I thought I saw unarmed. Yeah no, I did roll unarmed attack.
Speaker 4:Those are, I thought I saw unarmed.
Speaker 6:Yeah, no, that's my fault. I was supposed to be rolling. Yeah, that was all bonus action. I was supposed to be rolling D10 plus 6, and so my individual rolls themselves were what? Two damage short each, I think. Yeah I, oh, no, I lost it, gone forever. I have no chat, uh, so Should be in the log. So you did five and six damage, so it would have been an extra two on each one.
Speaker 4:Is that right? No, they were. Uh, yes, so instead of five and six, then seven and eight.
Speaker 6:That's it, yes. So instead of five and six, then seven and eight, that's it, yes, got it All right.
Speaker 4:So nines, as your quarterstaff hits the kraken for the second time, you feel a burning on your forearms and you notice on your forearms that some runes have been carved into both forearms. They've been etched into them.
Speaker 6:Can I make an intelligence roll to determine if they were there before?
Speaker 3:Yes.
Speaker 6:Okay, thank you, straight intelligence. That's going to be a plus two. I rolled a five Plus two for seven.
Speaker 4:Okay, you are not sure if they were there before, but they suddenly burn a little bit.
Speaker 6:Nines will announce to the group that punching this guy makes my runes burn. Are you punching? Yeah, hitting. Hitting, striking this dude with my quarterstaff makes my runes burn. Okay, my runes burn.
Speaker 4:My huevos rancheros, if you will.
Speaker 6:It's a discovery, it's science. This is what Nines knows about science.
Speaker 4:Alright, anything else, Nines.
Speaker 6:No, I did. Action move bonus action yeah, I'm good, okay, glenn. Action, move bonus action yeah, I'm good, okay, glenn.
Speaker 2:All right, so Glenn will. So okay, first I'm going to ask would Glenn have realized that he should shift to his dagger based on swipe?
Speaker 4:Give me odds or evens Odds.
Speaker 2:Yes, Okay, so Glenn will start moving forward his 15-foot movement speed and then remember that he has a ring that can give him Misty Step and he will move the last 30 feet as a bonus action to get next to the Aboleth.
Speaker 6:Okay, if I play the Skellington, could I use a bony action? Mm no.
Speaker 4:One bony action.
Speaker 2:And then he will attack with his dagger. All right, give me an attack roll 16.
Speaker 4:Can you hear me? No, yes, oh, yay, that was weird. I don't like that.
Speaker 6:It happens. Did we ever change the server or did you just reconnect? I just reconnected. Yeah, just a blip. Then it seems Just a blip in the matrix.
Speaker 2:I'm worried about Chuck.
Speaker 5:Our recording bear.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 6:Shut him down and restart and then splice them together.
Speaker 4:No, it should be okay. It continues to record up to seven hours, or until you tell it to stop, so it'll just have a blank spot there.
Speaker 2:No, I'm saying but if it's not, if it has the same connection, blip, it isn't listening anymore. Hey, I can see it, but if it has the same connection, blip, it isn't listening anymore.
Speaker 4:Hey, I can check it. I can check it One second. It is still connected. No way, yep, I don't believe you Still connected. It's got a green dot, yeah, well, you know what?
Speaker 2:All right and sorry. When I said I misty-stepped, it sounded like Justin was saying something. Am I not allowed to misty step underwater?
Speaker 5:No, you totally can. I was going to ask what does it look like, Because in my head it kind of looks like you farted and then reappeared somewhere else.
Speaker 2:So Glenn will, as he's swimming forward, he looks down at his ring and he realizes that he can Misty Step. And then he will use his Misty Step and you see kind of a shape of Glenn turn into kind of like this misty thing and then it collapses down and you hear it underwater, of kind of like a thunderclap type thing, with no thunder or anything like that, but just a pop. And then he reappears right next to the amulet and swings his dagger, because sound travels three times. Yep three times faster.
Speaker 2:So you hear it sooner than you would have expected.
Speaker 6:To our submarine service time.
Speaker 4:All of us, all five of us.
Speaker 3:But now you know too, because you didn't before.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I just now learned Three times.
Speaker 3:On the surface. They don't teach you these things.
Speaker 6:You know what that's the great thing about the D&D story podcast is that not only do you learn about our characters, you learn about yourself and life in general, and English. I think that's what we bring to the world that nobody has ever done before. And lots of dick jokes. And you know what? I haven't heard a single dick joke tonight. Really, you have not been listening. Actually, you're right, you said my name's Brandon the Irish Wookiee. Yeah, that's right For our listeners out there.
Speaker 4:Brandon, the Irish Wookiee, is getting nines a big finger right now.
Speaker 6:It's an average size finger.
Speaker 4:It's an average size finger. It's an average size finger Alright. So Glenn, anything else.
Speaker 2:Alright, did you say 16? Did you say that doesn't hit or does hit?
Speaker 4:16 does hit.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 4:I was looking at the wrong monster.
Speaker 2:And I positioned myself to be outside of 5 feet from another creature, so 28. Oh wait, 28 regular damage and 15 thunder damage. And unfortunately I can't move, because that friggin' sucks. I used all my movement to get there and do an attack on the first round. I shouldn't have, but I wanted to. I was bored that's fair.
Speaker 6:That's fair so all of our attacks are at disadvantage oh shit, yes, they are I forgot about it knock lens yours were yeah, and that's what I was going to say.
Speaker 2:And Monty's wouldn't be either, because he's a spear Alright. Is unarmed, a disadvantage.
Speaker 4:Unarmed is a disadvantage.
Speaker 2:Really that seems silly. I guess because you're swinging against me you ever try to punch underwater.
Speaker 6:If I had air magic, I would create air in front of my fists.
Speaker 2:So I was going to say can I just continuously cast Prestidigitation around me?
Speaker 6:I can shape water. Can I move the water around where I'm going to punch? I guess you could, but isn't that an action? What I want to do is gain disadvantage. Hang on, let me look at my character sheet.
Speaker 2:It's probably an action If it is an action, then you use your bonus action for your attack, because he's a monk.
Speaker 6:No, I do have. I have shape water as a cantrip, which you can use cantrips as a bonus action, but I did use my bonus action this round, so it's alright.
Speaker 2:Yeah, use the flow of water as you direct and that is all Glenn will do other than say when did you get runes? My runes hurt. Oh, so did my runes hurt? No, okay.
Speaker 4:Alright, so the Aboleth is going to walk up to this big ol' Kraken and he's going to hit it a few times with its tentacles.
Speaker 2:Every time you say that I am not hearing tentacles.
Speaker 4:I know. And it's going to deal some damage. Okay, so it hits the Kraken a few times and then it's going to look at Monty and you see it point a tentacle at Monty and Monty. I need you to give me a wisdom saving throw.
Speaker 2:The Aboleth.
Speaker 4:The Aboleth points at Monty correct.
Speaker 3:Hey, I passed this roll with a four.
Speaker 4:Yeah, monty, so you are currently enslaved, so you have to do what the Aboleth tells you to do during your turn.
Speaker 3:Gross. I like this.
Speaker 5:Let's see if we had a huddle before you joined this guy's team we would have within the benefits.
Speaker 4:All right, so how we're going to do this, maddie, is I'm going to message you and that's what I want you to play out, how you think your character would do, okay.
Speaker 3:All right, what? Monty takes off his pants? How?
Speaker 2:am I supposed to.
Speaker 3:No, not Monty Maddie All right, brandon, enough pictures of your penis. Just send me the instructions you want me to send.
Speaker 4:It was only one picture. It takes a while to upload, Sorry guys.
Speaker 6:Because the scanning electron microscope takes a while to process. It could flip around, so Maddie, I just messaged you.
Speaker 4:I got it. I'm trying to figure out how to interpret. That is what the Apple is telling you to do.
Speaker 3:Carry, carry, navigate south by southeast.
Speaker 2:Probably like two words.
Speaker 4:What's a blue waffle?
Speaker 3:They're all half-elves.
Speaker 4:There is only one half-elf in the party.
Speaker 3:Are they all half-elves? I thought everyone's half-elves here, except for me.
Speaker 4:Glenn is the only half-elf. Moors and nines are both elves. I am Everybody. I'm a half-elf.
Speaker 2:All three of us are half-elves. Just two of them are another half as well.
Speaker 1:Oh, okay, my bad Both halves Semantics, 50% higher.
Speaker 5:You can also have 50% higher.
Speaker 3:So you have 15 feet of movement, which will make me move up to here, and that exhausts my movement and I will attack the Aboleth with my spear.
Speaker 4:You're attacking the Aboleth or sorry?
Speaker 3:the Kraken? Okay, it does say attack the Aboleth, does it? Oh, I meant the Kraken 100% meant the Kraken.
Speaker 4:It does say attack the Aboleth, does it? Oh, I meant the Kraken. 100% meant the Kraken.
Speaker 3:I stab the thing commanding me to do stuff. I'll swing at the Kraken with my spear.
Speaker 4:Okay, give me an attack roll 14. That does not hit.
Speaker 3:Okay, and you see Monty 14. That does not hit, okay. And you see Monty trying to move again and not being able to. It's like his feet are fourth wall glued to the floor.
Speaker 4:Weird.
Speaker 2:Fourth, wall.
Speaker 3:More is your turn.
Speaker 5:I'm back, baby. Alright, so that first casting was not so successful, so we'll try again. I'm going to cast Hold Monster, 5th level at the Kraken Boy. Please attempt a Wisdom saving throw.
Speaker 6:I hate the look of concentration on your face as you're jerking that die. I'm counting. Yeah, no, I hate it dude, like I can imagine you.
Speaker 5:It fails. It fails Excellent. So he has obtained the paralyzed condition.
Speaker 4:Oh, is that an actual paralyzed condition? Yes, okay, he is immune to paralyzed.
Speaker 5:Well, that's a really unfortunate way to learn that.
Speaker 2:Yes it is how is? Are krakens just immune to paralyzed?
Speaker 4:Yes, they are immune to frightened or paralyzed conditions.
Speaker 5:The target must succeed on a wisdom saving throw or be paralyzed for the duration. It says it has no effect on undead. It does not mention krakens.
Speaker 1:Unless it's an undead kraken.
Speaker 5:Okay, well, that's all of my fifth little spell slots. I'll see you guys next round. Oh, you know what? I go ten feet up higher Nice.
Speaker 4:Okay, pass. You are now at the top of the temple moors.
Speaker 5:I stand on the roof. I mean, yeah, okay.
Speaker 4:You're just upside down, yeah.
Speaker 6:Does he want to go into his nose.
Speaker 4:No, he's got an air bubble around his face. He's fine.
Speaker 6:That's the only thing about being upside down in water. Yeah, true, you have to constantly let that stream around his face. He's fine. That's the only thing about being upside down in water. Yeah, you have to constantly let that stream of air out.
Speaker 5:Is your subspecies of elf not just like controlling your nostril holes?
Speaker 6:Oh no, we've come from the land of trees and immortal life. Yeah, sometimes nature smells bad. You gotta close that shit.
Speaker 5:Yeah Alright, sometimes nature smells bad. You gotta close that shit up.
Speaker 4:Alright, glenn, the kraken is staring directly at you. It's kind of angry and a tentacle comes up and wraps around your body and it is going to attempt to throw you. So I need you to make me a deck saving throw 16. Okay, so it takes you and hurls you plus nine, 40 feet. So it's going to hurl you back here. You are not prone, but you do take 1d6 bludgeoning down. So that's three bludgeoning damage, okay. Uh, that's 3 bludgeoning damage, okay. And then it's going to look at 9s and attempt to hit it with a melee weapon. Attack it's a tentacle and 9s does a 17 hit.
Speaker 6:Actually 4, 9s. That does not I have a normal 5. I know, I'm just saying it out loud for the listeners Come on now. It's a show. Come on now.
Speaker 4:Alright, so that is the Kraken's turn. Nines, you're up. You just saw this thing haul off and hurl one of your friends across the room and how do my runes feel? You actually feel a surge of power in your arms and you get the feeling that you should punch this thing.
Speaker 6:I'm going to use my action to attack this thing with not my unarmed strike, but just a regular order stack plus two strike. Okay, just for the first one, though. Okay, because you told me I should punch it, I'm gonna roll. That's a 16 plus 10.
Speaker 4:That does hit.
Speaker 6:Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. So I'm gonna roll a bludgeoning damage on that. It's a 4 plus 6 for 10. Okay, so I'm going to roll bludgeoning damage on that. That's four plus six for ten. Okay, how do my runes react? They hate it.
Speaker 4:They don't do anything.
Speaker 6:Yeah, my runes don't give a shit. Nope, whoa, my monitor just switched over randomly Time to work. Yeah, no, it switched over to my work laptop. It switched over to my HDMI. That's so fucking weird. Work, work, work, work. I've never seen it do that. That's insane. It's afraid of the Kraken, something. Okay, so the attack with my quarterstaff didn't cause me any weird pain like it did last time, so I'm just going to do it again.
Speaker 6:Okay For a 26. That does hit Hell. Yeah, I'm going to roll damage. Roll to 1 plus 6 for 7. Okay, and then I believe I roll damage. Ugh Rolled a 1 plus 6 for 7.
Speaker 4:Okay.
Speaker 6:And then I believe I can bonus attack, for I'm gonna spend a ki point even and do a couple of unarmed strikes with flurry of blows. Okay, uh, does a crit hit.
Speaker 4:A crit does hit, give me double damage.
Speaker 6:Oh yeah.
Speaker 4:Wait a crit.
Speaker 6:Sorry, no, I oh 20 plus 8.
Speaker 4:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6:Yeah, yeah, the first flurry of blows was so double damage, oh 19.
Speaker 4:Alright. So as you punch this creature you feel these runes flare to life. Roll me an extra 1d4 lightning damage. Wow, so 2d4 because it's a crit.
Speaker 6:I rolled a 1 and also a 2.
Speaker 4:Okay, so you deal an extra 3 points of lightning damage and as you punch this creature, you feel the energy leave your fist and a burn mark is on the creature from where you punched it.
Speaker 6:How did I get lightning? Wait what happened?
Speaker 4:No, I hit it previously and it gave me rune damage it's like the DM is trying to give you some kind of special weapon hello McFly, hello, fucking hit the thing. Alright, so that was just the one right that was yeah, that was the first floor flurry of blows what do I need?
Speaker 6:I need attacker damage you need attack.
Speaker 4:All right, sorry, damage. You've already done the attack. I need damage. Like I said, seven damage. Okay, give me an extra 1d4.
Speaker 6:Oh, uh Ka-chow, we ask one.
Speaker 4:Eight Alright. So from now on, all unarmed attacks give you an extra 1d4 lightning damage.
Speaker 6:Uh, like, what do you mean from now on For this fight?
Speaker 4:No, from now on, those runes are permanently carved into your forearms. All unarmed attacks deal an additional 1d4 lightning damage. Fuck, that's really cool.
Speaker 6:I need to figure out how to add that to this, but I really like that. Thank you, that's fucking neat.
Speaker 5:I really like that. Is it like automatic or does he have to mean it?
Speaker 1:Because if we go to fist bump him, it's automatic.
Speaker 4:If you fist bump him, you're fucked.
Speaker 5:Oh no, I'm a wizard and shocked, fucked and shocked.
Speaker 2:So if he fists the oh?
Speaker 4:yeah, alright, anything else Nines, uh, no, that'll do me Alright, glenn, you're up.
Speaker 2:Okay, um, glenn will again look down at his ring. He will move 15 feet forward and then use the misty step again for the last two charges and, with a kaboom, use his dagger to attack the juvenile kraken.
Speaker 4:Alright, give me an attack roll 10? I missed. A 10 does not hit.
Speaker 2:I missed anyway, it's great. Then I will attack with my other dagger Ten I missed. A ten does not hit, I missed anyway, Then I will attack with my other dagger. Okay, I don't normally do that, so I'm not going to do it, nope.
Speaker 4:Okay, anything else? No, so for our listeners out there, bill did message me on the side. I should not have been able to fling him with a kraken unless he was grappled prior to, so that's a mistake on my part. So, uh, because of that, I'm going to give glenn an extra attack, okay okay, at 11. So I, I tried, man I don't know what else. Alright, man, I don't know what else I can do for you, buddy.
Speaker 2:So basically, what you could have done would have been to hit me with a tentacle attack, and then I guess it has a special feature that it grapples at the end.
Speaker 4:It does.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so or it can, I don't know. That's another action, though, right.
Speaker 4:Yes, it is. Technically it gets an action and a legendary action. So I have three legendary actions that I can take during this fight.
Speaker 2:Different things, use different numbers of legendary action points or whatever.
Speaker 4:Correct.
Speaker 2:Mechanics of D&D sometimes are very weird.
Speaker 4:Yep, so anything else, Glenn?
Speaker 2:No, I think that's about it.
Speaker 4:Alright. So the Aboleth is going to strike at this Kraken a few more times and you're going to see two of its tentacles connect and it's going to hit the Kraken directly in one of its eyes. You're going to see one of its eyes close shut and it looks like it's going to hit the Kraken directly in one of its eyes. You're going to see one of its eyes close shut and it looks like it's pained. All right. So the Kraken is going to reach out with two tentacles and try to grab for Monty and Nines. I need you both to give me a strength saving throw.
Speaker 3:Finally, one I'm good at 15 could be worse.
Speaker 6:Yeah, 15 plus 5 for 20.
Speaker 4:All right, so you both fight off this Kraken's crap and, seeing as how it is quarter after 12, I think we're going to call it mid-battle, because you probably got another 20 to 30 minutes of fight, unless you guys want to fight through it.
Speaker 6:I don't feel super tired, but I'm good to keep going. I do have a demo in the morning. What time? Nine, actually Nine.
Speaker 1:I'm okay. I'm okay for now.
Speaker 4:You go, let's do another round. Justin, you good Probably yeah.
Speaker 6:Justin, you want to join me on this demo, maybe?
Speaker 4:I'm fucking with you, monty, you're up.
Speaker 3:I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do. Monty just plays with his belly button.
Speaker 2:Do Taboxi have belly buttons?
Speaker 3:Yeah, of course they do, but I think that's only just a bonus action. So then Monty is going to reposition himself in between Nines and Glenn and is going to attempt to Pokey-pokey with the sticky, sticky the Kraken. Give me an attack roll, I'll give you an attack roll. Hey, 23, that does hit. It does hit. That gives me damage. I will also like to list him. Make him as my favorite foe. Which means he's going to take one additional d6 worth of damage, bringing the grand total up to.
Speaker 4:Nine.
Speaker 3:For additional one point of damage.
Speaker 4:Okay, but now he's just going to keep doing that. Of damage. All right, monty, give me a charisma saving throw.
Speaker 3:Charisma saving throw. Really good at those for an event.
Speaker 4:Alright, that is not safe.
Speaker 5:Morris, you're up, excellent. I have thought very long and hard about what I'm going to do next. I'm going to run towards the Kraken across the ceiling as far as I can.
Speaker 5:As that, this could probably look pretty good. This is where I could get to. Okay, I mean, I swim and then I stand on the ceiling again, it's probably more mechanically accurate and then Morse is going to take off his belt. Hey, okay, once I take off my belt, I'm going to hiss at it and I'm going to drop it and it's going to turn into a snake and it starts swimming towards the juvenile kraken. It's going to go try to poison him hey, give your players magical items.
Speaker 4:They'll never use them. Yeah, watch out, alright, so you guys are trying to poison this kraken.
Speaker 5:Yeah, so I don't know, when the snake gets to go he lasts for 10 minutes. My notes don't have my D&D Beyond notes don't have the amount of damage it does. It says it deals poison damage. I don't know if that means it gives it a poison condition or actually does like a D6 or D4. And deals poison damage. I don't know if that means it gives a poison condition or actually does like a D6 or a D4. And it's in my notes in my other book but I didn't pull that book out yet.
Speaker 4:All right, hold up, I can get my book out, actually, because I gave that to you out of this book.
Speaker 5:Hell yeah, you can find it Okay.
Speaker 4:Snake Belt A black belt tooled with tiny scales, buckles silver and resembles a snake's head, and poised to strike. When the command word is uttered, this belt uncoils and transforms into a black snake. The snake will obey simple commands and has a bite that does 1d6 damage. So this belt, this snake, takes its turn directly after your turn. Cool, so it does have a chance to deal poison damage unless they save on the constitution saving throw. Did you say 1d6 or 1d4?
Speaker 5:1d6. And is there a? Movement speed for this deadly water moccasin.
Speaker 4:Uh 30 feet 30 feet?
Speaker 5:hell yeah, Is that swim speed? That is swim speed because it's's a snake. Oh yeah, All right. Good, Am I within 30 feet of this bad boy?
Speaker 4:Let me measure, let me measure. Yes, you are.
Speaker 5:Hell yeah, all right, I drop the snake, I hiss at it.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 5:I hiss at it. I'm not told to go get that kraken.
Speaker 1:Get that kraken. Look at that Kraken. Look at that Kraken.
Speaker 5:Um, that's probably at least a bonus action, if not a full action.
Speaker 4:That is an action.
Speaker 5:That's an action. Okay, I don't think I have any relevant bonus actions, so I'm probably all done, okay.
Speaker 1:It is your snake's turn.
Speaker 5:Oh, he swims up And's going to try to bite him. What do I do?
Speaker 4:You mean attack roll? Do I get any bonuses, your normal attack bonuses.
Speaker 5:My attack bonus? Yes, is there a spell.
Speaker 4:No, let me look at this, it was 56. Oh, there is no attack at all, it just deals damage. Not, let me look at this, it was 56. Oh, there is no attack at all. It just deals damage, 1d6 damage, and has to save a constitution saving throw. So it's a con Sabre gets poisoned or a con save or don't saving gets poisoned. Ooh so helpful, so it still deals 1d6, 1d6 damage.
Speaker 5:Give me it. Oh yeah, 4 damage, 4 poison damage.
Speaker 4:Right Con, save for this is 14. Is it always 14? Just by the eye, it is always 14,. Yep, and he rolled a 7 plus 10, which is 17.
Speaker 5:Oh yeah, I'm gonna add some more words in my notes here. Alright, I pass. Oh, I, I'm going to add some more words in my notes here. All right, I pass. Oh, I say extra.
Speaker 4:All right, it's a Kraken. Kraken's getting a little sick of getting hit and it's going to make a dual lightning strike, one against Monty and one against Nines. I need you each to make me a Dexterity saving throw.
Speaker 6:Big fan. Big fan Plus nine.
Speaker 4:Okay, nine Nat 20.
Speaker 3:Alright I got a non-natural 20 on that one.
Speaker 6:When I succeed on a dex saving throw instead of half damage. I take no damage due to evasion.
Speaker 4:Alright Monty, You're the only one taking damage from this, but you feel a large pulse of energy goes through the water and you would have taken 22 points of damage, but that's half. So you take 11 points of lightning damage.
Speaker 3:Eleven, yep, okay.
Speaker 4:And Nines, do you feel another sharp pressure in your head? I need you to make me a wisdom saving throw.
Speaker 6:Okay, I'm at a plus 4. I rolled an 18 for a 22.
Speaker 4:That does save your order, so it gets halved and you're gonna take 7 points of psychic damage. Um.
Speaker 6:I don't like that. Oh, as a free action.
Speaker 1:As a free action. I don't like that.
Speaker 6:Yep Nines will use his reaction to make a frowny face.
Speaker 4:Oh, One frowny face, oh, one frowny face for.
Speaker 6:Nights. Uh, perfect Nights, your turn. Oh, it's me again. Well, uh, there's a giant, weird-looking juicy target right next to me. I suppose I'm gonna. Yeah, but Monty's your teammate. Yeah, I'm gonna ignore that target and then attack the Kraken instead. Okay, I am going to use my. Oh, I see you added this. Did you add this? The lightning damage punch thing?
Speaker 4:No, you did I, I didn't add it, maybe Okay.
Speaker 6:But no, a quarter staff is at plus 10. So I'm going to use that Okay For a 20. That does it, okay, and then I'm going to just keep on keeping on for a 21. That does it. So I'm going to roll two bludgeonings Six plus six for 12 and one plus six for seven, so a nineteen total damage. Alright, alright.
Speaker 4:Alright, that hurts him. He screams in rage yeah fuck that crackhead.
Speaker 5:I understand rage. It's in a rage.
Speaker 6:But also now I can use my. I'm gonna do it again. I'm going to do it again. I'm going to give it to him. I'm going to use a key point. I'm going to double karate chop. Okay, you know what I'm talking about. Where the hell, flurry of blows plus eight for a 20 that hits and a 23 that it's. So that's going to be. Yeah, I didn't add that thing that like damage things, damage thing. So, warrior blows 4 plus 4 for 8, and then 4 plus 4 for 8, and then that is 2d4.
Speaker 4:Yep 5 lightning damage, 8, 16, 21 damage, with 5 of it being lightning.
Speaker 2:Does the lightning do anything to a kraken?
Speaker 4:Yeah, so the the lightning hits the kraken and it kind of recoils back a little bit and you can see that it is painted.
Speaker 6:Guys, it doesn't like being punched. That's Nines sharing his wisdom.
Speaker 4:All right. So, Glenn, you're up.
Speaker 2:All right, his movement Alright. So, glenn, you're up, alright. So Glenn will move around to the side about five feet to get a clear movement and then he will attack with his dagger and say, kaboom, as he's attacking, alright.
Speaker 4:Alright, give me the attack roll 16.
Speaker 2:That hits 25. So, uh, 34 points of regular damage and nine points of booming blade, alright, and nine points of Booming Blade, all right. And then Glenn will how long are? He will finish his position or finish his attack about five-ish feet away from the Kraken. Okay, it doesn't matter, because he's got reach, but he does have reach, but it's his normal fighting style.
Speaker 4:So Okay, so the Aboleth is going to rush up on the Kraken and grab onto its face with its tentacles and tries to blind it, and it's going to use its mouth to continuously bite into it and it starts to glow blue.
Speaker 2:Which starts to glow blue.
Speaker 4:The abalith starts to glow blue. Okay.
Speaker 6:Do abaliths normally glow blue?
Speaker 4:No.
Speaker 6:Does Nines know of situations where Appalachians will glow blue?
Speaker 4:Uh, Nines, you can give me a nature check or an arcana check.
Speaker 5:Like Mors, would also be aware of that.
Speaker 4:Both are plus two. Yeah, give me an arcana, check, nines.
Speaker 6:Or Mors. Yeah, can we give it to Mors instead? Go to 3.
Speaker 5:Natural 20 for a 28? No 28.
Speaker 4:Sorry you failed. You don't know. Yeah, no, aboleths do not normally glow blue. You've not seen or heard of this kind of reaction in Aboleth before. Is it my turn? It is not. It is Monty's turn.
Speaker 3:Monty stands there, drooling with a glazed over look in his eye.
Speaker 1:Thank you.
Speaker 2:Monty, you picked this mechanic. I did, I did, I did.
Speaker 3:Irish Wookiee is typing Brandon, I'm not going to take my pants off and stand up.
Speaker 4:You're enslaved. You'll do what I say.
Speaker 3:But Monty does have this glazed over, look on his eye. But Monty does have this glazed over, look on his eye. So Monty will kind of look at his spear that he's holding in both hands and just chuck it to the ground, kind of muttering under his breath how worthless it is and where it came from. And then he is going to uh, pull out his uh dagger and he's just going to say like, leap at the uh the kraken, but kind of go up to it with both hands and try to plunge the dagger into uh the kraken and you only hear him say what's cracking? 26, that does hit. Okay, so it's gonna take 10 plus, so total 12 damage and then everybody except Mors is going to take.
Speaker 4:Yes, he used the dagger, the dagger.
Speaker 3:Everybody's gonna take, including the Kraken. 6 points of damage.
Speaker 2:For what's the range on that?
Speaker 3:20 feet. Based on the ruler, I'm within 20 feet. How much? Uh? Yeah, based on the ruler, I'm within 20 feet. So how much? Uh? Six. It was a max on a 1d6 yeah, saving throw for that no, and then monty's gonna do it again, because this entire time I forgot I have two attack rolls. And this time he's gonna say I'm going to put you to sleep in a waterbed. Ah for 11.
Speaker 4:That does not hit.
Speaker 3:Does the dad joke still take effect, even on?
Speaker 4:a miss.
Speaker 3:No.
Speaker 4:So, nines, you missed it, but Monty used the dadger and used the dad joke, and so you each took six points of damage. I already took it away from your character because you were away. I didn't want you to forget. Thank you, yep. So for our listeners and players, the Aboleth is just giving Matty general instructions and Matty is playing it how he wants to. So the instructions that were given to him were throw yourself at the Kraken and attack it with everything you've got, and that's what he took from it.
Speaker 3:The dad jokes.
Speaker 4:The dadger. All right, Mors, you're up. You now have the Aboleth and Monty hanging from the side of this Kraken Pretty good.
Speaker 5:Yeah, I am extra poorly equipped to do anything about this Like even more poorly equipped than usual for combat. Okay, yeah, I guess are there any. Can I see any loose debris anywhere?
Speaker 4:Oh yeah, there's rubble all over the place. Oh yeah, can I get one that? Looks extra sharp and pointy yeah so, with a quick survey of the room, you do see that a few of these stones have jagged edges. Is this going to be the creature killer catapult that you always cast? They're not. Is this going to be?
Speaker 1:the creature killer catapult that you always cast. They're not.
Speaker 5:But I will send that sharp and pointy rock right at this kraken's eyeball Okay, oh, at the eyeball. At a catapult? Yeah, all right. So I pick a rock that weighs between 105 pounds, I just point right at it and then I shoot it. So it's got to be within 60 feet of me and I shoot it 90 feet in a straight direction and that creature must make a dexterity saving throw. So 11, that is not a pass 16, so I will then administer 3d8 bludgeoning damage to it.
Speaker 4:No, you need some damage there. Morse, no, no, ten damage.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 4:You are lucky that it doesn't take full damage.
Speaker 1:Actually, that's not true. It's not that low.
Speaker 4:I'm just fucking with you. You guys like seriously, you probably can kill in the next two rounds, unless it kills you first.
Speaker 3:Depends, how good my jokes are.
Speaker 5:True Dagger, then my snake will do another d6 damage to it. Do it.
Speaker 4:Three Needs to make a con save Eighteen plus ten, so that's twenty-eight Fine 3. He's making a con save 18 plus 10, so that's 28 Fine yeah, I think I did it.
Speaker 1:Then we're done.
Speaker 2:That's one of the big problems with fighting Krakens Is they have resistances and their freaking saving throws are crazy.
Speaker 4:There's only two in aisle 2.
Speaker 5:They can't be paralyzed. Did you know that? Well, yeah, I knew that. Did you know that Would have been?
Speaker 2:good to know. Well, yeah, I knew that. Did you know that I don't get the lore behind not being able to be paralyzed? But I don't know.
Speaker 4:Alright. So the Kraken is going to. You're going to see it raise all of its tentacles and it's going to grab the avalith with these tentacles and pull it underneath its mouth, and you're going to hear a sickening crunch and the avalith disappears. And then so, monty, you are no longer enslaved. You are hanging from the side of this kraken on your dagger, but you're no longer enslaved.
Speaker 3:The avalith, just ate it. It just got ate by the kraken on your dagger, but you're no longer enslaved. The avalith, just ate it. Or just got ate by the kraken.
Speaker 4:Yes, that's correct. And then the kraken is going to cast some lightning. Yes, what's up? Did he move? No, it's going to cast some lightning. So, monty and Nines, I need you each to make, me a dexterity saving throw.
Speaker 6:I'm so good at those. I know you are At the top of nine. I roll a 24. That does save 28.
Speaker 4:Natural 20. All right, monty, you are going to take half damage. I should take no damage for that one. You take 14 points of damage.
Speaker 3:That's what the finger was for.
Speaker 4:I know, and Nines, you're up so soon.
Speaker 6:Well, I happen to be right next to the juvenile Kraken. I think I might just hit it with my quarterstack. Does that sound weird?
Speaker 4:I didn't expect you to do that.
Speaker 6:Yeah, that's. It's such a strange thing, honestly, but I'm gonna throw a 6 plus 10.
Speaker 4:That does hit.
Speaker 6:And then another an 8 plus 10. That misses, so weird. No, that hits. So I'm gonna 1d10 plus 6 for an 8 on my first attack, okay For 14. And then, oh, hey-o, 16 on my second attack, oh shit. And then I can unarm strike as a bonus action without spending a ki point, an unarmed strike as a bonus action without spending a key point.
Speaker 4:So at a plus 8, I roll a 13. Shit, give me a 1d4. Oh to hit. No, that misses.
Speaker 6:Okay For the previous two attacks, though that's 2d4?.
Speaker 4:Yep, oh, no, no, those are quarterstaff. You don't get them with quarterstaff, oh it's only okay. Only unarmed.
Speaker 6:Gotcha, that's it then. Alright, so I need you to make me a charisma saving. Throw Nines, Add a plus zero Natural eight.
Speaker 4:Alright, nines, you are going to take eighteen points of psychic damage. Uh why? Because you feel a pain in your head, ouchies.
Speaker 6:Ouchies. Uh, nines will use this reaction to say ouchies.
Speaker 4:How many points of damage? 18?
Speaker 1:18 points of psychic damage.
Speaker 6:Motherfuck. That puts me down to 20.
Speaker 4:And you're also going to hear in your head uh, leave it Is the pause word part of the message.
Speaker 6:No, it's not.
Speaker 1:Oh.
Speaker 4:Just leave it, uh, leave it.
Speaker 2:Exactly, I mean, that's my I would really if you leave it Okay.
Speaker 6:I don't understand what that means, but I can only accept that I received that message Perfect.
Speaker 2:Glenn, you're up. Oh, okay, so Glenn will move forward and attack the Kraken saying kaboom 17. Ooh, that does hit and that's the one. So 34 points of damage and 5 points of thunder damage.
Speaker 4:Okay. So the Kraken lets out a loud, piercing scream. It's obviously in pain and you all feel this sound just kind of penetrate your ears and cause immense pain among each of you. So I need you all to give me a charisma saving throw.
Speaker 5:It sounds like he's trying to charm me. I have resistance to charm.
Speaker 4:He is not trying to charm you.
Speaker 3:Are we in a forest?
Speaker 4:No, you're not in a forest.
Speaker 3:Alright, if that's the case, I got a 15.
Speaker 4:I got an 18. Okay, alright, if that's the case. I got a 15. I got an 18. Yeah.
Speaker 6:I also rolled a 14, but I want to show you what it actually rolled.
Speaker 2:I rolled a 14 as well.
Speaker 6:Huh, it looks like it's a six, right.
Speaker 4:Uh, yeah, that is a six I rolled a six dnd beyond.
Speaker 6:All right. So yeah, bro that's a 14.
Speaker 4:you did it, so 16 was a safe. So everybody that got below a 16, it's gonna take full damage. Everybody above takes half. That is a 20. I don't want to roll that, alright. So full damage is 15 points, so half damage is 8. Is that an attack? No, dying squeal, dying squeal. Alright, monty, you're up.
Speaker 2:Hold on, oh, glenn will move away from it for the remainder of his move to get outside of 20 feet away from it. For the remainder of his move to get outside of 20 feet away from Monty.
Speaker 4:Also for our players out there. I've been really screwing up and not making 9th roll at his advantage for his attacks. Oh, that's on me.
Speaker 6:Fuck, yeah, every time.
Speaker 4:Yeah, I just forgot 100% Both times, yeah, no, no, it's on me, it's not your. I mean, we're friends together.
Speaker 3:Monty, what you got, good okay uh, monty, you'll kind of see his eyes like actually gain focus and no longer be like glazed over. Look, I'm so. He like he looks over to to nines and he's like what, what happened? How did I get here? And maybe I'm just kind of playing Nines character for him. He's got this wincing like oh no, it's coming again. Bad dad joke vibe.
Speaker 3:So Monty is going to realize what he was doing was hurting his friends, but he still sees the dagger in his hand and is going to again just quickly start stabbing the Kraken. No, dad joke. No, dad joke. Just stabbing the Kraken, Just stabbing the Kraken. If you know what I mean Stabbing the Kraken I'll take it.
Speaker 4:Oh shit what.
Speaker 3:A crit for a 30 and a 23. All right, give me double damage okay, uh, so I'll get three damage rolls eight, eight and eight for 24. Favorite foe happens twice. There's favorite foe having Three times. Oh, no Just twice, just twice, just twice. Five damage. So 24, 29 points of damage from the dadger.
Speaker 4:All right. So this kraken, with all the damage that it was just taking, slumps over the hole a little bit. You can see that it's bleeding from multiple wounds. The blood is just kind of going up into the water and dissipating as it floats up. Its eyes look a little slumped, a little lazy, looks like it's about to go to its final sleep and uh.
Speaker 1:In the waterbed.
Speaker 4:Of course, I've given you all the information.
Speaker 5:So how are we all looking health-wise?
Speaker 4:We've been taking some hits right Morse you hear a voice in your head, and it's a voice you've not heard yet, and it says Please help me.
Speaker 5:Useless man, that's cold.
Speaker 4:For our listeners. Krakens can speak telepathically For our players. For our players, I'm about to give more. Some PTSD, PTSD.
Speaker 5:This whole fight would have been so much easier if I were Sam. She can't be talked to telepathically, she just runs into traps. Resistance to lightning damage.
Speaker 5:Fucking damn dude. Wow, yeah, it looks like Nines has been pretty hurt, and so Morse is gonna like grit his eyes, like close his eyes, grit his teeth, and he's gonna cast a Healing word. I think Cure Wounds. He's gonna cast a healing word. I think Number one Cure Wounds. He's gonna cast a Cure Wounds. Wait, is that only by touch? That is by touch. Can I get to nines? Pretty sure I can Pretty close now, maybe you can. I'm gonna touch nines with my staff.
Speaker 4:Heal, yeah, roll the heal from your staff.
Speaker 2:You got touched with his staff.
Speaker 5:Secure Wounds is a d8 plus my spellcasting modifier, which is great news. 1d8 plus 4, which is 5 total HP. Hell yeah, cool, all right, well, that's my turn, all right, so I'm going to heal 5?
Speaker 6:Is that what I'm hearing? That's what you get, bud? Wow, I like it. It's so good. Thank you, I really appreciate it. I tried my best.
Speaker 4:It's your snake's turn.
Speaker 6:We're going to say or do at this point.
Speaker 5:Mors didn't think to call off his snake, so his snake bites.
Speaker 4:Alright, give me a 1d6. Oh man.
Speaker 5:Was it so the snake bites? Alright, give me a 1d6. Oh man, Was it true? So the snake does more damage than I healed you for? It does 6 damage. Wait to me, no to the Kraken, Alright.
Speaker 4:The Kraken with one eye fully closed and one eye barely open. That's out of one more piercing scream. Everybody, give me a charisma, saving throw.
Speaker 6:Please stop this. Hey-o. A natural 14 plus zero for a.
Speaker 4:Natural 14 plus zero.
Speaker 2:A 11.
Speaker 4:All right, alright, so 16 is a save. Everybody below 16 takes full damage. Uh, the 11 points of damage.
Speaker 6:So have just 6 points uh, so if we wait, how much damage 11 and so if we did not save it's 11 points, yeah, I'm down. How much damage 11. And so if we did not save it's 11 points, yeah, I'm down. What?
Speaker 2:I thought you had 20 left.
Speaker 4:No, I only had 11. Mines is down, all right, kraken's turn. The Kraken is going to let out one final attack and it throws everything it's got into it and it sends out a lightning pulse throughout the water. Everybody, give me a dexterity saving throw, except for nines.
Speaker 6:Except for nines.
Speaker 4:I'm rolling anyway, I got a 14. 15 is the save 16. Mors did, I got a 14.
Speaker 5:15 is the save 16. Mors did not make it 14.
Speaker 4:Half damage over anybody rolled 15 or above. That will be 14 damage for not saves.
Speaker 2:I'm going to just ignore that and not take any.
Speaker 4:That's fair, you can do that. And 9s, give me a death saving throw.
Speaker 6:Very well, is there, do I, can I?
Speaker 4:Yeah, you should be able to just.
Speaker 6:Well, yeah, it gives me a death, saves three healing to HP modifier. I just want to roll the thing.
Speaker 4:All right, yeah, so just roll me a d20.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean that's. I don't know why there isn't an option there.
Speaker 4:Rolled a nine so you failed your death saving throw so that's one failure. Gotcha.
Speaker 2:Glenn, you're up. So, um, glenn, I guess has no compunctions about uh killing this weakened child, yep. So watch, he'll come up here and probably miss Uh. He will go up with his dagger and with a kaboom swing his dagger.
Speaker 4:Alright, give me an attack roll, yeah he missed.
Speaker 1:Yes, 14 does miss.
Speaker 2:I could try swinging my offhand.
Speaker 4:Go for it.
Speaker 2:Is it the hit that doesn't get added or the damage that doesn't get added? For offhand? It's the damage 19, sorry, 20.
Speaker 4:That does hit. Give me a damage roll. You need to deal two damage to kill this thing.
Speaker 2:Okay, well, yeah, just the regular damage. I hit three.
Speaker 4:Okay, so tell me how you kill this Kraken, juvenile Kraken, with your dagger.
Speaker 5:Tell me how you kill this Kraken juvenile Kraken with your dagger.
Speaker 2:So Glenn will swim up to this Kraken and with a maniacal gleam in his eye he will thrust forward with his dagger and miss and look at his dagger and kind of reach into his pocket and or reach off to his sheath and kind of pull out his other dagger and kind of just graze right across the face of the Kraken as he's pulling the dagger out and the Kraken dies Like huh Oops and he wipes his dagger off and puts it back in the sheet.
Speaker 4:Alright, so you are all out of combat. I'm going to set us up. Go ahead, Glenn.
Speaker 2:So if we're out of combat, glenn is going to swim over and stabilize Nines Perfect.
Speaker 4:Yeah, nines, you're stabilized, thank you.
Speaker 2:It casts.
Speaker 4:Mending, I'm just kidding. I'm going to give you guys each a quick turn before I set us up for the next session. What are you guys going to do to if you guys want to heal or do anything? Uh, before we, we move on. So, monty, you're first. What would you like to do?
Speaker 3:yeah, uh, I'll do some spell casting. Probably a third level cure wounds on uh nines and a second level cure wounds on nines and a second level cure wounds on himself. So nines.
Speaker 2:That's one action, but sure.
Speaker 3:Oh okay, so you're gonna get 18 health back? Oh hell yeah. And.
Speaker 4:I'll get 8.
Speaker 2:So how does drinking work underwater?
Speaker 4:You've got an air bubble. You can just shove it through the bubble and just put it in your mouth. Morris, what would you like to do?
Speaker 5:I'd like to talk about my staff charges. I think last time I used Cure Wounds was a while ago, but I don't remember when. I don't think I ever recharged from it. I get charges back at dawn. I was just wondering if I had.
Speaker 4:Didn't you use it? When we were up in the flight with the Jules Did I do a mass cure there, maybe I did.
Speaker 2:Oh, you did a mass cure, yeah. No that was when they. It was earlier than that. I thought that was with the Dorvi Dori. Yeah, but it doesn't matter, 's the same day I wouldn't rest after that.
Speaker 5:No, I thought we went from there to the uh, the end, I guess, but we left the end again.
Speaker 4:Yeah, you guys didn't do long rest there.
Speaker 5:I can, never, I can't keep track uh, yeah, then I will suggest that we take a short rest. No, okay, I'll cast a second level Cure Wounds on myself, which will give me some health back. We're going to find out how much. That is 2d8 plus 4, which is 15. I get 15 health back. It's not great, alright, are?
Speaker 4:you going to keep your snakes out? I will. No, I'll call my snake.
Speaker 5:Great Alright, are you going to keep your snakes out? I will. No, I'll call my snake back. Okay, that's a good call. Thank you for reminding me.
Speaker 4:Absolutely Nines. Anything you would like to do?
Speaker 6:Beyond just living. No, I think I'm good.
Speaker 4:I did it. You do have healing potions, no.
Speaker 6:I have a lot of different options, actually, in terms of healing. You know what. I'm going to use one. I'm going to use my ability when the fuck is it? Hello, I can choose to take 30. Is it 33? Anyway, yeah, I'm going to heal myself for whatever that thing is, uh, as my class ability, again forgetting exactly what it is called, but there's a thing that's my, that's my turn, that's my move.
Speaker 4:Yeah, wholeness of body once for long long. Rest is an action. You can regain 33 HP.
Speaker 6:Thank you.
Speaker 4:So add 33 HP to your health. And finally, Glenn.
Speaker 2:So, glenn, looking at everybody healing themselves, does everybody look fairly healthy?
Speaker 4:They don't look as spry as they do first thing in the morning, but they look like they can walk themselves out of here or swim themselves out of here.
Speaker 2:Okay, so Glen will drink a healing potion and cast Healing World as a bonus action.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 4:All right. So, as you're all healing yourselves up, you hear a voice resounding in your head no, my God. And a large avalith breaks through the wall over here, what the? Buck. Didn't see that one coming. Didn't you?
