Episode 81: Into the Abyss

A D&D Story Season 1 Episode 81
Speaker 2:

oh no, gl Glenn died. Meet my twin brother, glenn.

Speaker 4:

Did I mention which friend was there's Flynn over there? There's Flynn.

Speaker 5:

Oh, I'm sorry Glenn died and welcome Flynn.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to a D&D story. I am Brandon, the Irish Wookiee, and with me today is Bill Hello.

Speaker 3:

I am Bill. I play glenn, the half elf rogue swashbuckler you forgot for a second, didn't you, I forgot what I was gonna say. I was do.

Speaker 5:

I say my last name, or it's been a while, you know, yeah it's been seven days and justin hi brendan do it hi justin.

Speaker 4:

There it is. Hi everybody, I'm justin I play, uh, sam the half-orc barbarian and also not at the same time moore's the high elf wizard do you remember which one you are at the moment?

Speaker 2:

Nope.

Speaker 5:

You're.

Speaker 2:

Moors, you're Moors. I'm a wizard. Keep in mind, you're going to have to make a decision very shortly. No, you, no, literally you. I mean I guess I could roll for it, if that's how you want to choose which of your characters you're going to play for the rest of the campaign.

Speaker 4:

That's how I chose last time.

Speaker 5:

Oh, I thought you were talking about Morse having to sleep with somebody. Oh no, no, no, Morse is going to sleep with the orc.

Speaker 3:

The orc With Sam Go fuck yourself.

Speaker 2:

Go fuck yourself.

Speaker 5:

You just see him masturbating switching between character. How did my fingers get inside me? Fuck yourself.

Speaker 4:

You just see him masturbating, switching between wicket wicket characters. How did my fingers get inside me?

Speaker 2:

Well found the intro.

Speaker 1:

Oh man.

Speaker 3:

You ever watch that show Misfits? Yes, there is an episode where the guy impregnated himself. There is what.

Speaker 2:

I don't want to spoil it the 10 year old show and finally Maddie hi everybody, my name is Maddie.

Speaker 2:

I play Montoya and you go the arctic tabaxi ranger alright, I want to say thank you to everybody for following us, liking us, giving us ideas. It means a lot to us. Make sure you follow us at facebookcom slash ADNDstory, retweet us on Twitter or EX at ADDstory2 and make sure you check out our Instagram account at instagramcom slash ADNDstory. We are going to be starting up a new campaign very soon. Our session zero is going to be in December. I'm debating on recording that or not. I probably won't, just because it's us just getting together, but I'll put out more information on our social media accounts. So make sure you're following it and if there's anything specific you want to see, such as a Glen 2 or Blennereth, if you will let us know. Alright, let's roll for some recap.

Speaker 3:

So did you give us a premise for that yet, or not? No, not yet. Okay, oh, I guess I'm doing recap What'd you get, I got a 1. A 1? I mean, you might not, what'd you get? I got a one A one.

Speaker 5:

I mean, you might not.

Speaker 3:

Can I use my inspiration?

Speaker 5:

That you're going to gain from doing the recap?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, all right, yeah, give it to us Bill.

Speaker 3:

All right. So Monty did the recap last time. We got to the ship the dadalorian nope, the captain of the ship is the dadalorian, the ship is the aquaholic. We got to the ship, we got on the ship uh, glenn proceeded to talk the captain out of his stateroom using the idea that he needed a lot of rest to be a good cook, and Glenn got a while he was working in there. He got a new feat a modified feat that he can cook things using less ingredients, makes breakfast for the party members. They get temporary hit points. Then, as the ship was going along, there was somebody spotted something. I don't remember who, but they saw a tiefling in a rowboat. So Monty, being the cat, jumped into the water to save the tiefling and swam over.

Speaker 3:

There loves water apparently apparently, oh yeah because he has the fin or the uh webbed? Yeah, the mark of the kraken hands, um, but jumped in and then they did a uh, they threw a net overboard or something. Ropes or something I can't remember. Yeah, ropes. They threw ropes overboard to pull the boat up. They pulled the boat up, moores and Nines diagnosed the T-Flame to have something spiritually wrong with it, and Nines said that Moores needed to give him a handjob. Yeah, that is true. Not really sure what was up with that, but Kalthor Strom. Kalthor is the tiefling's name.

Speaker 2:

I never gave him his last name.

Speaker 3:

From, from Typo. He was from another ship and had a monster on it. It's an old monster. Something wrong came from below where they were pulled. Oh, they were. So the ship was salvage ship. They pulled salvage and they brought something on board and it had something wrong with it. It was an old monster thing and whatever it had something wrong with it. It was an old monster thing and whatever it was, messes with his head and like it says that the whoever it like looks at the tiefling, looks at people, and uh says that the monster is actually inside of you, inside of him, inside of the ship, inside of all these things.

Speaker 3:

And then at one point, monty saw the shadow coming in and out of the main mast, I think the main mast, I don't know one of the masts, um, and they called the azimar chaplain that looked like an angel, some hot chick. Uh helped, led the tiefling off to Glenn's room. Glenn went with them to make sure that, of course, to make sure the tiefling was okay, not to make sure that his room was not messed with. Drew, drew, that's it, okay. Did I miss anything? What's the cook's?

Speaker 5:

name. Yeah, I say that you missed the cook part about Glenn.

Speaker 3:

Floverstoppoles.

Speaker 5:

You can now give us.

Speaker 3:

Cloverstoppoles, not stealing anything from another TV show or anything, but it was a gelatinous cube, Is that right? Yeah, gelatinous cube. That is the ship. For the ship. Oh yeah, for the. For the ship. Oh yeah, I forgot. Nines had to return the key to the counselor, or the, yeah, counselor and basically just ran into the room, chucked it at her chest and then bounced on off her chest and then Monty announced to the entire room that the counselor had sex with nines and then left. So that's probably not going to come back to haunt us later.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you guys did some shopping as well.

Speaker 3:

Oh yeah, bought some stuff.

Speaker 5:

We did do that before we got on the boat.

Speaker 2:

Monty had some custom armor made for him. I think the only stuff we did do that before we got on the boat. Monty had some custom armor made for him.

Speaker 3:

I think the only thing I bought was some health potions.

Speaker 5:

With nipple flaps on it.

Speaker 2:

With nipple flaps, oh yeah. I forgot about that Nines paid extra to get Monty his nipple flaps.

Speaker 5:

If he's going to give me 100 gold pieces for it, why not? My AC is 19 now, Until the wind blows and then apparently it drops to like 14 or something.

Speaker 2:

Well, it's only 19 when you have your shield, correct?

Speaker 5:

I don't know if I have my shield equipped right now. It says 19. Let me see if I have my shield accidentally equipped.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I do three potions of greater healing. I think morse bought two is that?

Speaker 4:

right, I bought three. No, you stole.

Speaker 2:

You stole 50 gold, basically oh yeah forgot about that too and this is the first time morris has at least actively seen you do something like that do something.

Speaker 5:

Shady, shady, that's actually true. That's pretty big. In the entire history of this campaign that's like the first time that Morse has actually caught on to one of Glenn's shenanigans.

Speaker 2:

And bigger than that.

Speaker 3:

Morse didn't say anything. Morse saw that Glenn gave 50 less gold, but we didn't say that Morse knew that Glenn did it on purpose. That's true. But he did see you, mors has the opportunity to later on ask, because Glenn did it in a way that was confusing and distracting.

Speaker 5:

That's good Ask him.

Speaker 3:

Do it, ask him. All right, give him. Do it, ask him.

Speaker 5:

All right. Give him the option to lie Any questions before we start it up.

Speaker 2:

Nope, all right.

Speaker 5:

I got you Bill? Did we get a level? Did I miss it?

Speaker 2:

Bill already asked that.

Speaker 5:

Oh, he already asked it. Dang it All right.

Speaker 1:

Never mind yeah.

Speaker 5:

I know what the answer was, but I wasn't going to do it anyway. No, you did not.

Speaker 2:

Okay, glenn, you get some inspiration.

Speaker 3:

Nice, I will forget to use it.

Speaker 2:

Probably Alright. So currently you are on the deck of the ship and the, the datalurian and the of the ship and the Dadalorian and the Dadalorian and the Asimar ship chaplain are leading Kalthar into the captain's quarters. He doesn't look very good, as it was determined by morrison nines and as as kalthar is being led, he turns and he kind of breaks away from the captain and he looks at all of you and he says trust no one not even me and you and you see his right eye glow momentarily and Nines collapses next to you all.

Speaker 5:

Oh hell. So I think Monty and Glenn are following Bassamarian. You said the Dattolorian, yes, so I think we're all following as we're kind of walking that way. Monty wants to quickly send message to morse telling him about the shadow thing he saw. Okay, what?

Speaker 2:

are you?

Speaker 5:

saying um, he's gonna say uh, morse, uh. I just noticed a mysterious shadow figure appearing out of the ship's mast and then returning to it, and I don't see it any longer. Please keep alert. I'm going to see if I can find out more about this tiefling character.

Speaker 4:

Morse. He looks at you as you're walking away and he gives you a nod. He responds with okay, yeah, I'll look around. Did it look like anything in particular?

Speaker 5:

I don't know, I can't remember if it did. After a little bit, let me read the recap.

Speaker 2:

So you just caught it out of the corner of your eye.

Speaker 5:

It seemed like a shadow, a shadowy presence in your peripheral no, it was just a shadowy figure, but I do believe something is quite afoot. Please stay alert.

Speaker 4:

Okay, I'll keep an eye out.

Speaker 5:

And Monty will just follow the Aston Martin and the captain into the quarters with the tiefling.

Speaker 1:

Okay, into.

Speaker 3:

Glen's room. Glen's room for the first night.

Speaker 2:

Into Glen's room. Glen's room for the first night into Glen's room everybody's coming to Glen's room. Is anybody doing anything about knights?

Speaker 4:

I did.

Speaker 1:

I notice, oh yeah, you guys heard him collapse behind you oh yeah, I'll.

Speaker 4:

I'll try to catch him. I'll attend to him after he's crouched right next to me. We were crouched looking over the body of Kalthor. I'll try to catch him or I'll tend to him after he's crouched right next to me. Right, we were crouched looking over the body of Kalthor. Correct, like tending to him.

Speaker 3:

I guess Glenn will see Mors taking care of Dines and probably continue following the tiefling I'm just trying to think of of. I can't think why he would think that morris couldn't handle it fair yeah, glenn is very full of himself and confident in his abilities, but medical stuff is not really one of those.

Speaker 5:

I mean he cares a lot about the room.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, he's worried that he's going to lose his room.

Speaker 5:

Much as Monty as much as he would care about nines, I think would be more interested in what's going on with this tiefling. Accompanying a beautiful woman would also be on Monty's priorities, Of course.

Speaker 2:

Nothing against nines, by any means that Aasimar is just cuter. Yes, all right. Course nothing against nines. By any means that asmr is just cuter. Yes, all right.

Speaker 4:

Uh, morris, anything you're specifically trying to do, you're just looking over nines um, yeah, I'll look to see, like is there anything weird looking about him? I'll check his eyes. Um, we're worried about this, like weird demonic spirit thing as well as, uh, or like whatever it might be. That's demonic spirit thing as well as, or like whatever it might be, that's affecting people, and maybe it was just something normal. So I think it's more just trying to figure out is he just like exhausted or did something happen to him? Sure?

Speaker 2:

give me a medicine, check okay natural one natural he's dead, he's dead, he's dead, he's. You looked on WebMD he's either got cancer or he's pregnant, you're not sure which.

Speaker 5:

I'm sorry, Brandon, but Nines died. Moores prepared you at sea burial and you actually drowned.

Speaker 2:

And threw him overboard.

Speaker 3:

Moores tried to do a C-section.

Speaker 5:

Just to check, just to save the child. That was unsuccessful as well.

Speaker 2:

So you check his body, check his pupils for signs that they're reacting to anything. You check his pulse. You see a pulse there. It's steady and his eyes are reactive to any kind of light source that you show from your staff. But other than that you really can't determine anything.

Speaker 4:

Did he just like ragdoll?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he just ragdolled, just put him down, yep just ragdolled straight down.

Speaker 4:

Did he just face across the deck boards and all that? The guy who was the ragdoll yeah, he was ragdolling Just put him off Scooting space across the deck boards and all that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he was there and now he's on the ground.

Speaker 3:

So remember when we used to play Ark and somebody would log off, yes, and the character would just kind of.

Speaker 5:

No, the Matrix when their body gets unplugged.

Speaker 4:

Ooh, yeah okay. The whole crew's around right, so I can flag them down and ask them to take him below. You, sailor, I probably we're still like our first day on board, right. It's only been a couple hours, so I look around for somebody I know. Actually is Leela around the first mate.

Speaker 2:

Leela is around.

Speaker 4:

yes, Okay, I'll try to spot her. Leela, could you have some of your sailors help carry nines down below, put them in his bunk.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, she looks at you, looks at nines, and she seems a little exasperated. You can see her breathe out heavily, she sighs, she says yes, yes, yes, let's go. And she points to a large half-orc who walks over, grabs Nines and throws him roughly over his right shoulder and starts carrying him below decks.

Speaker 4:

Does Leila stay above deck or does she go below with her sailor?

Speaker 2:

No, she stays above deck. She starts walking towards the. Oh, this is embarrassing as a sailor.

Speaker 4:

The steering wheel.

Speaker 2:

Elm, the elm. Oh yeah, that's pretty good the helm. I know you control wind. Is there any other stuff that you can do to maybe help me find if there is a shadow here? Unfortunately, my talents are very focused towards seafaring in general. I can propeller ship, I can mend sails, I can start small fires for our engine core down below and you know, I can do simple things like that Clean up some of the captain's messes that he makes. But I'm not a strong wizard at all.

Speaker 4:

So this is not a sailing ship is what I just learned. I was under the impression it was Okay.

Speaker 2:

They do have sails. They do have sails, okay.

Speaker 4:

Fair enough. It apparently has an engine, a core, yeah, did you say. Actually, that's not important right now, I guess. Okay, so I'll look around. I'll let you know if I find anything. I don't really know what I'm looking for. Monty said something about a shadow.

Speaker 2:

I mean the sun is going down, it could just be waves or a bird flying overhead. It generally takes longer than she looks up, About six hours before you start getting delusional from being out to sea. But I've never sailed with a Zabaxi before.

Speaker 4:

Well, me neither, for what it matters.

Speaker 2:

Come to find out cats like water. I've also never seen one dive into the ocean, so I mean, who knows, this one may be more proficient out here than me.

Speaker 4:

Well, Madty is a very special individual. I don't know who Matty is.

Speaker 5:

Bill's done it plenty of times, but you definitely just combined Monty and Matty quite efficiently. I would just say.

Speaker 2:

I did good, guys, I did good, you did real good.

Speaker 4:

Monty yeah, he's quite an individual. Yeah, he seems. I did good guys, I did good. He did real good, monty, he's quite an individual.

Speaker 2:

He seems very well suited to be out here. I may offer him a permanent spot in the crew after this is over.

Speaker 4:

Really he's made that much of an impression on you.

Speaker 2:

No, not at all. I thought you could pick up on that, that's fine.

Speaker 4:

Oh no, Not at all. I thought you could pick up on that, that's fine. Oh no, not at all. Okay, well, I guess I'll let you get back to it. Morse is going to awkwardly shuffle away.

Speaker 2:

Okay yeah, she grabs the helm and starts navigating the ship.

Speaker 1:

Steering Starts helming through the water Steering wheel.

Speaker 2:

All right, all right, back in the crew or back in the cabin you've got about, I'd say, two to three minutes before Mors walks in, the Dadalorian leads Kalthar to the only bed in the room, which looks like a double bed, which is large for a ship of this size, and he lays him down and he goes over to a small lantern and lights it so that there's more light in the cabin a small lantern and lights it so that there's more light in the cabin. And then he looks over towards the Aasimar and says Sister Anvara, would you mind looking after our guest? And the Aasimar walks over to Kalthor and begins checking on him. Is there anything you would all like to do before Morris gets in there?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, no, I don't have anything.

Speaker 2:

I know you want to argue with him about the bed right now.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, Are you sure you don't want to do that? Monty will just kind of follow what's he ask him. Morris' name, Sister.

Speaker 2:

Envara Sister Envara.

Speaker 5:

Sister Envara. He'll follow Envara over and we'll just kind of look over her shoulder and attempt to see if he can pick up anything that's wrong with the guy.

Speaker 2:

Okay, yeah, you can either give me a medicine check or a perception check. Depending on how you roll. We'll show you different things.

Speaker 5:

Okay, I'll do a perception. Okay, I got a 15. Are we in a forest?

Speaker 2:

No, definitely not, Definitely not.

Speaker 5:

Okay, all right. I need to add ocean to my areas. Yeah, so I got a 15.

Speaker 2:

Okay, yeah, so you can see that he is, even though you just grabbed him from the sea itself, his. The crew dried him off as best they could, but his skin is still very clammy. It's not the color you would expect to see on a tiefling. You can see sweat actively coming out of his pores. On his face, uh, his eyes are, uh, fluttering slightly. It seems like he's in some sort of dream state, as, and you can see under his eyelids that his pupils are darting back and forth uh.

Speaker 5:

So he'll turn to the aasimar and say Sister, I do believe he is in some sort of a troubled dream. The fact that he is this clammy, after we have retrieved him from the sea plus, you know, dried him off, makes me a bit worried. Do you have any idea what is going on with him?

Speaker 3:

Go ahead, Glenn what is going on with him?

Speaker 2:

uh, good, glenn so I just picture somebody looking through their phone in a hospital room giving the doctor's suggestions. It's effectively what's happening here. Yes, all right. So at this, at this time, uh moores walks into the room. He enters the cabin as Sister Invar lays both hands on the chest of Kalthar and you see a glow coming out from both of her hands and she suddenly pulls her hands back and gasps and says I've only seen something like this once before, and that was a long time ago when I first came to this realm. It was some sort of possession. Well, what could he be possessed?

Speaker 5:

by.

Speaker 2:

I only know of two possible entities that could possess something A demon or a ghost. Thanks for narrowing it down, mm-hmm, which?

Speaker 5:

do you think it?

Speaker 2:

is? I'm not sure. It seems like it has left his body.

Speaker 3:

But he, I'm confused.

Speaker 2:

He was possessed. Yes, that's correct.

Speaker 3:

But he's not anymore. No, I can still see the damage that it dealt to him or that it caused him, but whatever was in him is no longer there so do you have any idea how, how we could tell if that thing, the entity that was possessing him, how we would be able to tell if it was possessing somebody else? And glenn is rapidly looking between each of the people in the room.

Speaker 2:

Glenn's about to stab everybody and ask questions. Later I got this they were possessed. She turns towards you and says Well, there's two ways that I know of. We can either bring them to me one by one and I can check on them by giving them a handjob, apparently no, that was not a handjob.

Speaker 5:

Brandon, why would you say that?

Speaker 2:

for our listeners. Maddie's over here making inappropriate hand gestures. This podcast is rated g grandma's gonna be pissed um or uh, you, you, could. You could look for any kind of abnormalities or, if you have a detect good and evil, you may be able to find it that way.

Speaker 3:

So I have a dagger and I have some chemicals.

Speaker 2:

I what sort of chemicals?

Speaker 1:

Um.

Speaker 3:

I have. I have some uh magic sleep juice. I have some brown liquid from a fountain in a temple oh my, god, like some mayonnaise. I have lots of mayonnaise. I have different colored dyes. I have some dragon blood.

Speaker 2:

I don't know if any of those would help you in this situation.

Speaker 3:

What about this hammer?

Speaker 2:

Keep in mind if you harmed the body, you still harmed the body. Like there are two souls possessing a body, it's not going to scare the demon away.

Speaker 3:

If you make the body uninhabitable, the demon will leave.

Speaker 2:

I cannot recommend strongly against this enough.

Speaker 5:

Monty, with deep concern, will look at his sister and say Not long after we brought the tiefling aboard the boat, I happened to notice out of the corner of my eye a shadow figure disappearing into the woodwork.

Speaker 2:

Did you happen to see where it went?

Speaker 5:

It went into the main mass. It might have. If you have noticed that a demon or a ghost previously left this body. That might have been what I saw.

Speaker 3:

Didn't, didn't? Yeah, I don't remember the tiefling. Oh the tiefling. What was the tiefling's name? Kalthar, kalthar. Didn't Kalthar say something about the thing possessing the ship too?

Speaker 2:

I'm not sure I did not hear. Hear that if I said that last episode I I do not remember that.

Speaker 3:

I'm pretty sure he said it could be anywhere, including in the ship, something along those lines. I could be wrong. It's possible. Hold up, hold up, or I may have just misunderstood what you said what I said, because I have it right here.

Speaker 2:

Kalthar screamed, saying that it could be anywhere on the ship, including in one of us.

Speaker 3:

I thought it was when he was describing the activities on the previous ship. But okay, glenn is still going to say that. Okay.

Speaker 2:

I have never heard of a demon possessing an entire ship, some some uh, mechanical or magical devices, absolutely, but I've never heard of it possessing a, a wooden, a wooden chip before.

Speaker 3:

Glenn is going to nod and take a step back and kind of like back into a corner and his hands are going to be very close to his daggers.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

And he is very strongly watching everybody in the room.

Speaker 5:

Okay. Is there anything else that we can do for this T-Thing to possibly make him more comfortable?

Speaker 3:

If we kill him, he'll be comfortable.

Speaker 5:

What's in his misery?

Speaker 2:

She says to you no, I'm not. I don't think there's anything we can do. I'll continue to work with him from here, but from everything I can tell, it seems like he's in good physical health.

Speaker 1:

Hmm.

Speaker 2:

I think he just needs to rest.

Speaker 3:

What about some hallucinogenic tea.

Speaker 2:

I don't know why you have that and I don't think that's going to help A friend poison. As she's explaining, as she's voicing her concerns for your poisonous tea. Uh, kalthar's eyes relaxing. Kalthar's eyes shoot open and he uh, even his eyes are wide open. But he says in very panicked breaths it's, there's something around. I could still feel it. It's beneath the skin, I can, I can feel it. And he starts clawing with his left hand and starts clawing his right arm and he's starting to draw blood, as he's doing it.

Speaker 4:

Morse tries to grab his hands and stop him from clawing at himself. Oh, okay.

Speaker 3:

Glenn is watching the sheets on the bed.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, there's blood all over the sheets. Now 're definitely gonna have to be changed. Prestidigitation, um yeah. So sister anvar grabs his left arm uh, mores, you're gonna grab his right arm and you guys both pin him to the bed. And the dadalorian comes over and he removes a small vial from his belt and pours it into Kalthar's mouth, and Kalthar seems to calm down immediately and goes to sleep.

Speaker 3:

That's what the tea would have done.

Speaker 4:

You said that you didn't detect any other energies inside him. He still seems to feel something under his skin.

Speaker 2:

No, there's. I would bet my faith that there's nothing in him any longer. I think it's just the leftovers, if you will, the leftover residual energy.

Speaker 3:

I think you're making that up 100%.

Speaker 2:

Me. Yes, Anvar. No, she knows what she's talking about.

Speaker 5:

Is there anything else we should do? Just maybe let him get his rest.

Speaker 2:

Sister Anvar says to the captain that we need to. Sir, I would recommend assembling the entire crew on the deck. Any body that doesn't have to be at station should report to topside. The datalurian makes a sound that you've never heard before. It sounds almost like a grunt, but a very exaggerated grunt that a child would make, imitating an adult, and the dadalurian walks out of the cabin. Once he's out of the cabin, you do hear some shouting towards the first mate and then you hear footsteps as they're running below decks right beneath the cabin.

Speaker 5:

You're running as in, like a panic or like they're all assembling on deck.

Speaker 2:

They're all assembling. They're going around and grabbing people and assembling.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 4:

Morse would like to cast Mage Armor and then just like off the rip initially Okay.

Speaker 1:

And then start.

Speaker 4:

He'll say something like I'm going to see if I can find anything with some magical detection skills, and then I kind of plop down on the ground and start casting. Identify, sorry, detect magic as a ritual, okay.

Speaker 2:

Alright, sounds good.

Speaker 3:

Glenn will start cleaning up the blood. Okay.

Speaker 2:

Calvar is still up the blood. Okay, kalfar is still in the bed. Is he still bleeding?

Speaker 3:

No, he's not.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, I mean. Yes, he does still have some wounds on his arm. He's not yet been healed. Glenn's bed, though that Kalfar's in.

Speaker 5:

It's a big problem.

Speaker 3:

So Glenn will bandage the wounds and then clean up the blood.

Speaker 2:

Okay, anvar watches you bandage the wounds and she nods towards you and she says oh, thank you so much. I needed to rest slightly before I started casting some more spells. You're very generous, thank you, good sir.

Speaker 3:

So what Glenn also does while he's bandaging the wounds Is he will be looking in the wounds For anything that might be below under the thing's skin, under Kalthar's skin. He said that there was something under his skin.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so even though some of the scratch marks went pretty deep, you don't see anything other than some blood under there.

Speaker 3:

So he will bandage it and then, as he's bandaging and starting to clean up the blood off of his bed, he will look at Anvar and say should we check under any of his other skin?

Speaker 2:

her eyes widen a little bit. No, no, I don't, I don't really think that's necessary. Um, I think he's okay, I think he just needs some rest right now.

Speaker 5:

Uh, monty's, I mean because I'll physically, quizzically, at Glenn, but he's like yes, glenn, he just needs some rest. I'm going to go out and see what is going on outside. Monty's going to leave the room.

Speaker 2:

Anvar catches your eye right before you leave and she looks worried that you're leaving with your friend, who's obviously a little bit mental with her A little bit Morse is still there.

Speaker 1:

Morse is still there, morse is on the ground.

Speaker 2:

True Morse is still there.

Speaker 3:

Literally two people in one being.

Speaker 2:

Anvar doesn't know that.

Speaker 5:

Monty will look back and say Sister, maybe we should assemble with the crew out over here. I know Morris will take just a minute to finish what is going on and I believe our friend here is in the very capable hands of Glenn. He means him no harm and we'll just continue to tend on his wounds.

Speaker 3:

You're going to need to roll a deception. Check on that.

Speaker 2:

She looks at you, Glenn, and she says so, if I leave you to go check the other crew, you're not going to peel his skin off or anything.

Speaker 3:

No, I'm not going to peel his skin off.

Speaker 2:

I mean, don't answer me like that. You kind of sound a little crazy there I'm not crazy. I don't think you know how quotation marks work.

Speaker 3:

I've been using them wrong my whole life. I just saw that one and it was freaking hilarious.

Speaker 2:

Yes, we're exclusive.

Speaker 3:

Oh sorry, hilarious. Yes, we're exclusive. Oh sorry, um, for our listeners. There is a viva lot, dirt league short that was. I've been using quote. I've been using air quotes wrong my whole life. It was hilarious, but anyway, all right. So no, gl will back to the game or to the show. So Glenn will look at her and say I'm not going to peel his skin off, his, her, yeah, his I can give her.

Speaker 5:

Trust me, my friend, if there's anything he does not like, it is anything that has to do with a mess. I believe that he will take very well care of not only our friend here, which is in pain, but also the bedding beneath him, Because at the end of the day, this is his room and I know he wants to keep it in tip-top shape.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so he's never tried to do surgery with an axe on a rock somewhere before Like he's a very sane individual. An axe on a rock somewhere before? Like he's a very sane individual.

Speaker 5:

I guess, as far as I can tell, he is a very sane individual. It took me all the right, but I am going to go join the crew. You're welcome to stay here if you would like. By all means, the gentleman on the floor. He will be done in a few moments and he will probably join us as well, but it is totally up to you, Okay, and she stands up and she places one hand on Kalthar's chest again.

Speaker 2:

You see a glow and Kalthar seems to his body relaxes even further and it looks like a weight was lifted off of him.

Speaker 5:

Now he relaxes, and now Glenn's going to have to clean up poop.

Speaker 2:

And Anvar turns to follow Monty out of the chamber.

Speaker 3:

So she bought that.

Speaker 5:

Apparently, apparently, monty's going to go out to see. He hears everybody kind of scuttling about and he's gonna I mean, he's gonna be very he. He saw that shadow once, so he's gonna be keeping an eye out for that most of all, but very much on high alert as he's observing the rest of the crew assembling on the main deck okay, uh what about you, morse?

Speaker 4:

I'm casting detect magic. Oh yeah, that's right, he's busy yep, that's right.

Speaker 2:

I forgot about that so did.

Speaker 3:

Monty said out loud the shadow thing to the no, he actually yeah. Yeah, he did mention it to set it to the as a sister mbr. Yep, yeah, okay, so gl Glenn is going to be on the lookout for shadows and abnormal behavior outside of the normal abnormal behavior of his party members.

Speaker 2:

Okay, all right, for practical purposes, we will say the crew is still assembling. For practical purposes, we will say the crew is still assembling. Glenn, you are observing an unconscious Kalthar and Mors who is sitting or who is casting a ritual spell right now, and Mors, you have finished casting. Detect magic you get your normal senses or your normal, what you would normally feel from your companions. You can tell that there's some magic going on from the datalurian. It is a. I always have to look this up. You think I know it by now with how many times you've cast this spell.

Speaker 3:

The normal stuff from your companions. Glenn lights up like a freaking lighthouse. Yes, alright, the normal stuff from your companions. Yeah, glenn lights up like a freaking lighthouse.

Speaker 2:

yes, all right, uh, yeah, so, uh, from the datalorian you get, uh, some enchantment magic and then, uh, you also below you, you get some, uh, some smaller senses of evocation and some transmutation magic, but you're almost directly below you, you get a very powerful sense of conjuration, enchantment, and, yeah, conjuration and enchantment, and that seems to be None of be none. Oh well, the companions are moving, your companions are moving around the datalorian. You can see, uh, or you can feel his presence on the ship deck himself, um, but uh, but no, no, the, the big presence down below is not moving what is conjuration and what else was below deck?

Speaker 2:

Enchantment.

Speaker 4:

Cool. Yes, and more of those stand up. He looks at Kalthor nothing.

Speaker 2:

Nothing from Kalthor other than from the cape that he's wearing. You get a sense of enchantment magic from that as well.

Speaker 4:

So Morz will stand up and then go stand next to Glenn and take a look. Well, I don't see anything with him, but his cape does seem to be enchanted, but otherwise I don't see anything unnatural here. I'm going to go step outside and see if there's anything else I can see.

Speaker 3:

But there's nothing else in the room or on the ship.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, there's some. The captain has a certain aura to him and down below I see some minor and mores will just be pointing at the floor. I'm sure you can see too, but there's some evocation and transmutation spattered throughout and then you'll point right to the. I'm assuming it's the core. You mentioned Very strong conjuration enchantment right there. It's probably the core that First Mate mentioned, but nothing that made me think of a spirit or other magical entity.

Speaker 3:

Okay, I'll stay here and keep an eye out.

Speaker 4:

You don't want to come see what's going on with the crew?

Speaker 1:

Okay, well, I'll call you if I need to Okay, I'll go crew Okay.

Speaker 4:

Well, I'll call you if I need to, okay, I'll go outside.

Speaker 2:

Okay, glenn, you're staying there.

Speaker 3:

Well, yeah, how else is he going to secretly murder this guy?

Speaker 2:

Okay, good.

Speaker 3:

Alright.

Speaker 2:

Alright, so on the deck, the captain is standing facing his crew. Yes, glenn.

Speaker 3:

Are there any windows in this room?

Speaker 2:

There are two windows facing the top of the deck.

Speaker 3:

yes, Is there any windows like outside, to go outside overboard? No, okay, continue.

Speaker 2:

Alright, so.

Speaker 3:

No reason?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, of course. So yeah, the datalurian is turned, facing his crew, his back to you, mors, as you exit, and standing in front of him is his first mate. And then, directly behind his first mate, stand seven individuals and the first mate reports to the datalurian Captain. I've assembled everybody, except for the ones that could not leave their their stations. Thank you, their stations.

Speaker 4:

They spend six hours out of every 18.

Speaker 2:

Could not leave their stations. Obviously, I couldn't take the engineer from the Corps and you know, flubberstaffelies refused to leave the kitchen. And then, of course, the new crew member Nines. He's down in his hammock at the moment with Bloodstow looking over him Bloodstout yes, that's the big dude, that is the half-orc that you saw carry nines downstairs.

Speaker 3:

So is he big for a half-orc, or just big because he's a half-orc Big?

Speaker 2:

because he's a half-orc Okay.

Speaker 3:

Alright, sister Anvar.

Speaker 2:

Big because he's a half-orc. Big because he's a half-orc. Okay, all right, sister Anvar walks up to the captain and says Okay, I will begin checking now. And she walks up to each crew member one by one, places both hands on their shoulders and bows her head, and after a few moments she shakes her head slightly and moves on to the next. She gets through everybody, uh, including the first mate. Uh goes to the dadalorian and says captain, there's, there's nothing in any of the crew members. Of course I I don't think you're able to be affected, but I must check you as well. And I'd also like to check our new guest that came aboard and he looks directly at Monty and Morse.

Speaker 4:

Morse smiles and takes a step forward, but you can't see because he still has his helmet on. Oh yeah, that's right.

Speaker 1:

Which only looks slightly terrifying, right?

Speaker 5:

Yes, I'm just kidding. What does Monty say? Say, I said monty unzips his pants, but not really. Uh you could check me any day. Uh, monty will actually say uh, of course, please, uh, please do okay.

Speaker 2:

So she places her hands on the datalurian and shakes her head and she says of course, captain, I saw what I expected from you. You are obviously not possessed. And moves on to Monty, placing both hands on your shoulders. You feel a slight warmth in your chest and it's almost like you can feel her probing inside of you yes, I said that and checking all the nooks and crannies of your body. And then she shakes her head.

Speaker 5:

No again. Interesting choice of words there.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, just for you. Buddy Shakes her head once again and then moves on to Morse Morse again. You feel the warmth as soon as she places her hands on you and that warmth starts to grow in your chest and you feel it start to heat up. And as it's heating up it starts to actually burn and it's starting to cause you a little bit of pain.

Speaker 4:

Oh, that's hot. Also, I should warn you, I sort of sometimes am a half-orc.

Speaker 5:

I'm kind of possessed already.

Speaker 2:

She steps back quickly from you and she shouts Captain, it's in him.

Speaker 4:

Oh wait, what's in me? Is it the orc?

Speaker 2:

or did you see something else I heard sam is very nice, I haven't met her yet the captain looks to you and the first mate has already drawn her sword and has pointed it at you more.

Speaker 5:

So his hands, uh like, clearly not weapons, drawn like whoa, whoa, whoa monty will very quickly brandish his shield and spear, taking a defensive posture in front of moors, and say uh, trust me, this one is okay. He, he, you might be saying something, but trust me, there's not going to be anything out of the norm. If there was anything wrong with this gentleman, I would be the first to know.

Speaker 4:

Oswald put his hand on Monty's shoulder and like, try to like ease him down like sister. Could you tell us more about what you sensed?

Speaker 2:

I was really hoping this was when Morris turns fully evil and just stabs Monty in the back, just like yeah, I've been waiting for this moment my whole life.

Speaker 3:

I killed your father and I liked it and the illusion goes away on his right hand and the sixth finger shows up. That's right how much of this did Glenn hear from the captain's chambers.

Speaker 2:

You hear some commotion, but you can't really make out the words from where you are.

Speaker 3:

Okay, Glenn will exit the room and head towards the commotion.

Speaker 2:

Okay. Okay, then we'll exit the room and head towards the commotion. Okay, as you leave the cabin, you see Mors with his hands up, monty in front of him with his shield and spear leveled. The first mate has her sword drawn. The captain has some device you've never seen before pointed at Mors. It looks like it's got a large. It looks almost like a small cannon in his hand. But you have not seen this device before.

Speaker 3:

So very clearly.

Speaker 5:

Everybody will hear glenn say ector yes, everybody sees that, as your sword appears in your hand as his sword appears in his hand monty will look in endearingly towards the Asimar and say, Sister, please, what exactly did you see?

Speaker 2:

The sister, her eyes not leaving.

Speaker 5:

Mors says this one has another possessing him, Monty will cordially laugh and will drop his spear and shield and say Ah, what you see is in fact correct. If you see one person possessing him, that is quite all right. The person you see is Sam. Now, did you happen to see a third? Because if so, we might be slightly tripled.

Speaker 2:

She says to Mors what do you mean? You become a half-orc.

Speaker 4:

Well, it's a little confusing, but sometimes for a while now, definitely before we got to the ship nothing to do with Coralath. I kind of it feels like I take a nap maybe. Uh, coralath, um, I kind of uh, it feels like I take a nap maybe, and in my place, uh, sam, uh, the half-orc, she seems very nice from what I hear. Uh, she kind of takes my place and then sometimes she goes away and I'm back and I don't remember anything and I don't remember anything and I don't know anything about her besides what I've heard. But it's almost like we're sharing a body so she takes control of your body well it's.

Speaker 4:

I don't know that makes it sound like she's a bad person. It's more like I leave my body empty while I go somewhere else and she's just barring it like a hermit crab, and she changes the shape as well.

Speaker 3:

And she's just borrowing it like a hermit crab and she changes the shape as well, but magic's a weird thing, I don't know.

Speaker 5:

To be honest, this Sam that we have met and fought next to on many occasions is quite a welcome sight to be seen when the time is correct. Please have no worry Again as long as you did not see a third individual inside of our companion here, mors.

Speaker 4:

Did you feel any kind of malevolence towards it? Because Sam's generally pretty nice.

Speaker 2:

Unfortunately I can't tell if there's malevolence or evil with this type of casting. It's more just tell. If there's malevolence or evil with this type of casting, it's more just detecting if there's more than one soul in a body.

Speaker 5:

It's interesting that you say there is another soul. We always perceived Sam as just a hermit inhabiting yet another shell, but you say, if she has a soul, that brings a whole new level to what they're more experiencing.

Speaker 2:

Well, I'm not Captain. I can't be sure that they're telling the truth or not. The Dadalorian looks at you, mors, and I would like you to roll a persuasion check to try to convince the captain. Can I assist? Yes, how are you going to assist?

Speaker 3:

Well, it depends on what Mors says.

Speaker 5:

Monty would like to assist too through the dropping of his shield. I mean, when they pull, well he pulls. Whatever this thing is on Mors, you know Monty takes the defensive posture, but I'd say that you know, dropping his defense against the captain, still maintaining a position in between the two of them, would hopefully help him be at ease. That, yeah, this is not something Monty's worries Monty at all. Basically, glenn is going to help fill in words that, yeah, this is not something.

Speaker 3:

Monty's worries, monty at all. Basically, glenn is going to help fill in words where Mors might falter, because Mors is not necessarily a social person. So he's just going to kind of back him up and fill in. Like if Mors seems to be faltering he will step in and try to help with the explanation. So I would have to play off of what justin says, more says okay, what would you say, morse?

Speaker 4:

I will say so. He says uh, I promise we're not trying to pull a fast one on you. We would have told you, but the departure was rushed and it is kind of a personal thing and there was no reason that we should have thought Sam would come out on this trip. Is there some way I can prove to you that I'm not a threat, I don't feel possessed, and we're all corroborating the story of Sam. He still has his hands up. I am not a threat, I don't feel possessed. We are all corroborating the story of Sam. He still has his hands up. He is just trying to talk. Reason to Captain Daddilorian.

Speaker 3:

Sam only shows up when Morse is under stress. So if something bad happens, then moores will help it, basically helping moores.

Speaker 5:

Sam will show up to help moores cope with stressful situations or any time that he feels threatened, which you are quite doing right now.

Speaker 3:

So okay, and and sam is a very nice lady. Yeah, sam is a very nice lady. She has helped us out in the past, backed us up and covered our backs when we were in dangerous situations. Both Moors and Sam are both helpful.

Speaker 2:

Moors, give me a persuasion.

Speaker 4:

check at advantage At advantage, but I got a natural 20.

Speaker 2:

Oh, okay, well then you don't need the advantage, all right. So the datalurian lowers his device by his side, but he does not put it away and he says is there a way that we can Force this change? Why would you want to? To prove his story, he seemed like a Trusting individual. However, I cannot take chances with my crew.

Speaker 5:

So far the change has only been happenstance, but I promise you and assure that, unless your chaplain here has seen a third soul that is possessed inside of his body, there is nothing to be worried about and he looks to the aasimar. You did, in fact, only see two souls within our companion here, correct?

Speaker 2:

That is correct. I've only seen two souls.

Speaker 5:

Sorry, I've got to take this just one sec guys.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no worries. So the ASMR is going to say to you Moors, there might be a way that I can do this. It would require us to lay down and for you to go to sleep and I may be able to share your sleeping conscious with you.

Speaker 5:

Excuse me, for what reason?

Speaker 2:

So I can possibly chat with this Sam character and verify it's not this malevolent spirit, if we really want to chat with this Sam character and verify it's not this malevolent spirit.

Speaker 5:

If we really want to chat with this Sam character, why don't you just punch him in the face? I believe it is quite unnecessary. You can take our word for it that Sam is not the shadowy figure that you are looking for. We should continue to look amongst the rest of the ship to find this, this thing, the one that I saw.

Speaker 2:

It's going into the mast at the suggestion that you can just punch him in his face. The first mate steps up towards the captain, says captain, I volunteer to do this. And she starts walking towards Morris.

Speaker 5:

I volunteer a tribute.

Speaker 4:

Morse is a little crestfallen. I thought that they were friends and apparently he's misread that pretty drastically.

Speaker 2:

Or she just doesn't think she's going to hit you as hard as the other crew members.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, maybe I would rather not get hit in the face, if you don't mind. Is there another way I can try to sleep? Maybe take some tea, actually, oh, my goodness.

Speaker 5:

To be honest, is this entire thing necessary? I mean Monty's trying to persuade them that they can trust the word of Glenn and Monty and don't need to waste any time pursuing this. They should focus on the real threat here, which is this shadow lurking on monster ship yep.

Speaker 2:

So uh, the datalorian is going to say to you uh, monty, that, uh, again, I cannot take any chances with my crew. I have the. I can lock him up until the investigation is over, or we can try one of these other methods.

Speaker 5:

I have a side quest and you must achieve it.

Speaker 4:

No, I would like to make two points. First, moore says well, besides not wanting to be punched in the face, all that we have to go on that there's something wrong here. Is that a recovered sailor who was lost at sea for who knows how long was seeing some kind of hallucinations? I think it's good to be cautious, but I don't think we need to take it too far. But I don't think we need to take it too far. And then he looks, and he turns and looks at Sister Anvara and says maybe I need to make a history check first, but do I know about Asimar and their cultural racial background.

Speaker 2:

You know about.

Speaker 4:

Asimar. So, as an Asimar, mors would know that she's a single body, that multiple spiritual entities have invested over time and that she's like a single body that multiple spiritual entities have invested over time and like she, she, her, like her personality is not the personality that has inhabited that body or maybe even will continue to have that body. Uh, so morris is gonna turn to her and say and shouldn't you be familiar and somewhat less concerned about spirits and bodies? I know you're familiar with the whole concept. This shouldn't be terribly foreign to you.

Speaker 2:

I am extremely familiar with the concept, but not in a elf.

Speaker 4:

Well, maybe if I explained to you how it seemed to have happened, it could make some sense and I wouldn't get punched in the face.

Speaker 2:

Again, we don't have to do the punching in the face. I can just check this other way.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, no, I think that's a much calmer and less aggressive way to do it. Maybe we could do some more stuff in the meantime to make sure that you know I understand why I'm alarming you, but I feel comfortable that I am who I am supposed to be right now.

Speaker 2:

Okay, sister and Vara. So, first off, the first mate looks at you after you say that you really don't want to get punched in the face, and you can see a small smile light up from her or start spreading on her mouth, and it doesn't look malicious or anything like that. She looks like she's having a laugh on both of your accounts and, uh, she steps back into formation.

Speaker 5:

I think the first mate was a lesbian and when she heard there was a sam was a female figure, she got really excited. She's like I want that.

Speaker 2:

I want really excited. She's like I want that, I want that half-orc. She's like them big girls.

Speaker 5:

I don't want some elf man, I want some half-orc, some half-orc woman.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, so Sister Envar will say to you well, say to the captain, captain, I don't like that. We have to just trust these people that we met. But he does have a point that sometimes two spirits can possess a body. But if we check the other crew members and I don't find anything, I think we really need to do the dream walking that I mentioned before. The datalurian makes that same affirmative grunt sound that you heard from him before, and him and Sister Anv start walking below Dex and he turns towards the three of you and waves his hand for you to follow.

Speaker 3:

So Glenn will wave To follow.

Speaker 4:

Morris follows Okay.

Speaker 5:

He's wanting the three of us to follow him below Dex, correct, okay, I guess. Is he still pointing his gun at us?

Speaker 2:

No, he still has it out, but he's not pointing it at anybody.

Speaker 3:

Does the first mate still have her weapon drawn?

Speaker 2:

No, her sword is away.

Speaker 3:

Okay, so Glenn will follow.

Speaker 5:

He'll also release his sword. He's still holding his shield, but he's going to be in a relaxed posture.

Speaker 2:

Does Glenn get disappointed when he draws a weapon and doesn't get to use it? No, I don't know why. Always in my head I imagine Glenn would be like those assassins if I draw my blade, it must taste blood, if it ramps up and if a fight. If I draw my blade, it must taste blood, mm-hmm.

Speaker 3:

You know, if it ramps up and it's See, if a fight starts and then ends without actually fighting, then he would be disappointed. Because, it's the fun of the fight, got it.

Speaker 5:

When his sword goes away, it goes like this first oh, it kind of goes limp Talk that day. And then it goes limp.

Speaker 4:

As more starts to follow the captain and as he walks by Glenn he gives him like a little elbow and says funny from the waving gesture.

Speaker 3:

So Glenn will smile and he'll whisper under his breath and he'll say I got your back.

Speaker 4:

I know you do. I appreciate you.

Speaker 2:

Alright, so the ship has grown pretty quiet. I mean, there's only a few crew members below decks, the rest of them are topside. Morris, did you have something else?

Speaker 4:

Yeah, just one last thing. While we were at topside I still have detect magic going. Was there anything weird like, was the mast Necrotic or some shit? No, nothing, nothing weird or unusual, just little trinkets from people that all seen as normal.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, just nothing, nothing crazy. Okay, that's all, thank you, Okay, yep, yeah, so the ship goes pretty quiet and, as I mentioned, there's a few crew members below decks, but they're not really making a whole lot of noise, they're just at their stations. And the first stop you, the first stop you, the, the first stop you, you, you're at the datalurian stops, that, uh, you can tell that it's some kind of uh supply station like something where, someplace, where all the food is kept, all the extra uh cigars and cigarettes and everything, all the tobacco that a crew will need. Nice Pokemon pajama pants I love them and inside is a oh there's tobacco and Pokemon pajama pants.

Speaker 5:

Is that what you're saying?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, there are a set for each of you if you'd like it, and inside there is a small gnome like a gnome. That is small for a gnome and I was gonna ask yes, I did.

Speaker 2:

And he starts. He starts, he's, he's running up and down this, this small room. He's checking things against a clipboard that he's got in his hand and as the datalorian approaches, he says the food, it's Sorry, the food, it's spoiling. I've kept the logs, I've checked them. I know it doesn't make any sense. We just picked these up. And he reaches into a crate and pulls out an apple that looks like it's been left in the sun for a month. Did you check?

Speaker 4:

your list twice.

Speaker 5:

I was going to ask if the gnome checked his list twice and if he has a white beard.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I've checked the list twice. What are you trying to get at? Does he have a white beard?

Speaker 4:

He does not have a white beard. It's easy to overlook a small thing.

Speaker 2:

No, it's good. Everything on this list is very nice. I made sure of it. None of it's naughty. No, there's no such thing as naughty fruit. I guess maybe avocados, if you believe that, because technically a fruit and not a fruit, I wouldn't bite into them.

Speaker 5:

Do you have any eggplants? Is there any eggplants on the ship? Those are definitely the naughty fruit.

Speaker 2:

No, we had to stop getting eggplants after the one crewmate did things to them.

Speaker 4:

What about nice juicy peaches?

Speaker 5:

There's the Asimar with them, or is it just the captain and the three of us?

Speaker 2:

No, the Asimar is with you. Is it just the captain and the three of us? No, the asimar is with you all.

Speaker 5:

Um monty like look over his shoulder at the asimar and give her like a glance out of the corner of his eye uh, like she's here, the asimar notices you looking at her.

Speaker 2:

Um, give me a perception, jack monty, you're saying she's noticing you so far for our listeners.

Speaker 3:

Brandon's expression when we started going down this train was very disappointed, yeah it's like this is what you guys are ramping off of uh, monty rolled a 15 based on after they the pe comment him looking at the SMR.

Speaker 2:

Okay, monty, you think you notice a little bit of color flush into her cheeks when you look at her.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, that's what I thought. Anyway, do continue. Monty will return his attention to the gnome.

Speaker 2:

Okay, the captain goes around and he starts looking at some of the crates and noticing the bad food. And he I, are any of you in your backstories familiar with warforges?

Speaker 4:

uh, warforged um, was there. If there's a warforged at all in like the college of wizards or in the recollect reclaimers guild, then morris would have known him. Yeah, there was one in the Recollect Reclaimers Guild then.

Speaker 2:

Mors would have known him. Yeah, there was one in the Reclaimers, guild.

Speaker 5:

And.

Speaker 2:

Mors.

Speaker 5:

His construct like. I feel like, because he has so much experience with constructs as well too, that fits nicely into Mors' backstory.

Speaker 4:

It's different, though, because constructs don't have a spirit and a soul themselves, but the Warforged do like they're a whole human, like a human equivalent entity of like having a sentient being yeah, right, right, right. But the constructs can have some sentience, but not like the soul level, like they'll be quirky.

Speaker 5:

Justin, you just proved my point that, yes, mors does know about Warforges oh, fair point.

Speaker 4:

Nicely done, so that, yes, mors does know about warforges.

Speaker 2:

Oh, fair point. Nicely done so. Yeah, so, mors, you did know one in the college or in the tower with you. But you see the dad of Lorian do something you've never seen a warforge do, and that's lose its temper. And he grabs the crate of rotten apples and yanks it off the shelf, dumping all the rotten fruit onto the floor.

Speaker 3:

I could have made applesauce.

Speaker 2:

Uh yeah, no, he doesn't say anything to you about the applesauce.

Speaker 3:

Or brandy.

Speaker 5:

Well, crap, now we're gonna have to kill the captain. That's gonna be hard to get laid after that one uh.

Speaker 2:

So the gnome looks visibly shaken by this and he says we, we still have enough to get to get to the port. Uh, we just have to do. We just have to ration. I can make it work. We have enough, enough dried foods.

Speaker 4:

Does your inventory account for any fishing that we might be able to do on the way to provide some additional food?

Speaker 2:

No, we generally don't have time for fishing, but I'm sure we can supplement our food supply that way. That's a fantastic idea.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, Did you happen to notice? When did this fruit begin to spoil?

Speaker 2:

It was perfectly good. This morning I do a check in the morning and a check in the evening to make sure none of the crew got their nasty little fingers on it.

Speaker 3:

We're in it.

Speaker 5:

This might be an unintended side effect of our new passenger aboard the ship that we rescued from the sea. Would Monty know that? I mean, I'm making that connection, but would Monty?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I would say Monty's picked up on this. You've been traveling enough with Mors and Glenn to know that shit's weird when they're around.

Speaker 3:

No, we go find the weird stuff to make it un-weird by poking it.

Speaker 1:

Well, yeah, stab it until it's un-weird anymore,

Speaker 4:

So who all is with us right now? It's the captain, it's our gang, and then the cleric, sister Anvara, and the quartermaster.

Speaker 2:

No, the first mate stayed above. First mate stayed above.

Speaker 4:

Okay. So now that the captain has thrown this thing on the ground, what's like? What's his body mannerisms? Is he like doing anything else?

Speaker 2:

nope, he is after. Right after he did that, he seemed to relax and he's uh, he's looking around and he's listening to what the gnome is saying and after you made the suggestion of fishing to supplement the food, he relaxes completely.

Speaker 4:

How close is Envara to the captain right now?

Speaker 2:

Right behind him.

Speaker 4:

Morris will take a couple steps over and tap her gently on the elbow and nod a little ways away, just to try to get out of earshot like obvious earshot, without drawing attention.

Speaker 2:

At your touch. Sister Envara kind of moves away a little bit, but she understands what you're doing and she walks with you.

Speaker 5:

Does Monty pick up on this at all?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's a pretty tight quarter. You guys see this the Captain and the Gnome are speaking and you see Morris go up and do this.

Speaker 3:

Monty's gonna try to engage the captain in conversation.

Speaker 5:

Okay, oh, that's what glenn was gonna go be distracting then maybe glenn and monty will both try to distract the captain okay, so distracted, so distracted last time this fucking happened.

Speaker 2:

The episode ended early it worked well is what happened? I had to calm myself down.

Speaker 4:

That wasn't maddie, though it's a different it wasn't yeah, that was yeah.

Speaker 2:

that was glenn and dorvey together, and I have no idea why I actually got, because you were really in the mind of your character, because your character was very upset. Yes, All right. Yeah, so, Glenn Monty, you guys talk to the captain Mors. What are you saying to Sister Anvara?

Speaker 4:

So as I pull her away, I'll actually pull my helmet up onto my forehead so I can whisper to her quietly without letting the voice carry. Sorry to pull you away, sister. I was worried. I've never seen a warforged react like that. Is the captain okay? Is that normal for him?

Speaker 2:

Sister Anvara nods her head and she says we're under a little bit of pressure here. This is supposed to be a big job, getting you all over to over to Dead Pelt Shadows, and it's supposed to save us from some debt collectors that are coming through. The captain doesn't get upset often, but he gets upset when his crew is put in danger or if the ship is put in danger and with the added pressures of everything, and now this possible demon and all of you adding stress, I'm sure he's. Just. I've only seen him react like this once before, and it was when one of his crew members was killed by a raiding party.

Speaker 5:

Hmm, and she says, I could sure do some stress relieving as she unblotens her blouse. Cue 70s porno music.

Speaker 4:

You doing okay, Matty.

Speaker 3:

He lifts up a glass of wine, cheers everybody.

Speaker 5:

Morris do it good give me a performance check.

Speaker 4:

Sorry, go ahead hold on wait performance never miss an opportunity never pass up. A good thing is what I learned from Starship Troopers.

Speaker 2:

Wah wah wah, true, alright. So do you say anything to Sister Anvar?

Speaker 4:

Yeah. So Mors nods to her and then he says okay, that's interesting, we didn't really know that that we'd be such a significant fair for the crew. Maybe now isn't the right time but we can talk about. Maybe we, we the us can help offset your the debt to the ship that we we haven't spent much time together, but we really do care for you guys and we want the best for you. Um, as far as the the captain goes, this is when he is stressed. This is a normal thing for him, though I know you you soul searched him or whatever that magic that you did was. But I'm just, I'm a little shook from his, uh, his composure. I, I. It doesn't seem like it's that big of a deal. We're not starving. We've only just left today. We can easily get back to port if we need to.

Speaker 2:

I think it's just everything altogether. I mean, as long as we get you to Dead Pelt Shadows safely, we get a large reward from Councillor Thornwell and it will cover the majority of our deaths. So I think the captain is just worried that with all this stress and now going on rations, the crew is going to be weak and we may be in trouble.

Speaker 4:

We cannot afford not to get you to deadpelt shadows well, I don't think that we're not going to get there. I think there's no reason for us not to we're. We're in a good right. We're aware of a concern that we haven't seen any real evidence of. I know that I've alarmed you a little bit and I apologize, of course, for that. So who's left for us to check? You've checked me, monty, the off-duty crew At this.

Speaker 2:

She walks up, she looks around, she shakes her head again. She walks up and taps Glenn on his shoulder. Glenn, is that your name? That's correct.

Speaker 4:

Can I ask a question before you go that way? Sure, how were they distracting the captain during this?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, sure, how were you guys distracting the captain All right.

Speaker 3:

So I've been thinking about this. So Glenn will look down at the smashed crate on the ground floor and he'll say why did you throw this on the floor? There's got to be some of it salvageable. It seems very wasteful of you. Why would you do this? And he's getting uncharacteristically wow and I'm not even drinking upset about the wastefulness of the food and so say we have other things that we could have done with this. We could add spices to it that would make it usable, we could turn it into and then just to be this wasteful, it just doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 2:

Monty, were you saying anything?

Speaker 5:

Monty, yeah what he said. Monty's just kind anything. Monty, yeah what he said. Monty's just kind of there at this point because Glenn's going to dominate the conversation and he'll be fine with that okay.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. So the dadalorian is looking at you very expressionless, like he's not making, he's not. He's not getting upset. He's just staring at you and at the end he says you are right, I should not have done that. He's not getting upset, he's just staring at you and at the end he says you are right.

Speaker 3:

I should not have done that no my name's Glenn I know, your name is Glenn, so why'd? You call me right.

Speaker 2:

The dadalurian looks down at the gnome who is giggling at this point, and it seems to dawn on the captain what you're doing. And uh, he's, he starts chuckling oh, oh oh, oh.

Speaker 1:

Monty will say I don't know the things you call him.

Speaker 5:

Please never, never, let him know he is right we're just trying to distract the guy, so it's all.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it works we're just trying to distract the guy, so it's all. Yeah, it works, okay, uh. So yeah, sister hanvar walks up to glenn and taps him on the shoulder and says uh, glenn, is that's your name, correct?

Speaker 3:

or or right I I think it's glenn you can call me mr.

Speaker 5:

Right right now.

Speaker 4:

Q70s porno music I didn't know we were getting into that tonight. I have a store to share at some point, but it doesn't have to be right now um, oh, uh, yeah.

Speaker 2:

So sister anvar says to you do you? You do you mind if I didn't check you up above decks? Can I check you?

Speaker 3:

So just out of curiosity, who's checking you?

Speaker 2:

I can't be possessed.

Speaker 3:

Well, I don't think I can be possessed either, can I?

Speaker 2:

verify that? Can I verify that. Can I verify that?

Speaker 4:

Yeah, give me a religion check Morse or history.

Speaker 3:

I prefer history but Religion's fine, so is there something religious?

Speaker 4:

Five plus five for a ten.

Speaker 2:

Okay, you know about the Aasimar's multiple spirits and everything like that, but you can't recall if an aasimar can be possessed or not.

Speaker 4:

I say nothing Okay.

Speaker 3:

I'm kind of disturbed that you're going around checking everybody and nobody is checking you and, as far as I know know, there's nothing to stop an Azimar from being possessed.

Speaker 2:

Well, I mean, I could have proven it to your companion over there if you let me walk in his dreams, but I guess we're all out of luck. That's still on the table, did he actually say no. I'm actually pretty sleepy.

Speaker 4:

I'm not, I'm just not sleeping.

Speaker 1:

Anyway talk about it.

Speaker 3:

I could.

Speaker 1:

Go ahead.

Speaker 4:

For some reason, my body just opposes magical sleep, so I have to wait for it to happen, naturally, I have this tea.

Speaker 2:

The captain nudges Monty very visibly as he says I can go get the first mate it may or may not work.

Speaker 5:

The jury is still out on this one uh.

Speaker 2:

But the captain also says to you glenn, I must insist that my chaplain check you I, I get that Dad, I prefer daddy.

Speaker 3:

Okay, daddy. Oh my god.

Speaker 5:

You are the 70s part of this I have accomplished what I wanted.

Speaker 4:

The whole purpose of this podcast is complete.

Speaker 5:

See you guys all in season two.

Speaker 3:

So I understand your concern, but who's going to check her? Monty Reese.

Speaker 5:

I have my ways. They may prove to be effective.

Speaker 2:

If we do not find the creature in one of my crew, then we will do the dream sleep that she suggested with Mors and they will verify one another.

Speaker 3:

Can we all get into this dream?

Speaker 2:

I don't know if she is powerful enough for that, and Anvara is shaking her head.

Speaker 3:

No, I have something that can help.

Speaker 2:

Anvara says I don't think I can handle that many people at once.

Speaker 3:

I'm sure you can.

Speaker 2:

I've seen You're muted, Boris.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I muted myself to sneeze and you said something fucking funny.

Speaker 2:

I mean, I think you can take at least three. I once handled four, but there's too many crew members here.

Speaker 3:

Oh, we could just form a line. Oh, my god. And take turns, but there's too many crew members here.

Speaker 2:

Oh, we can just form a line, oh my God, and take turns. She raises her hand, but pauses before she touches you and asks one more time, do you mind?

Speaker 3:

No, is that what she's?

Speaker 2:

doing. No, she's got it. She doesn't have it in a high five, she's five. She's obviously moving towards. Like to touch your shoulder, to put her hand on your shoulder.

Speaker 3:

So Glenn will mimic her movement.

Speaker 2:

Okay, yeah, she places her right hand on your right shoulder.

Speaker 3:

Glenn places his right hand on her left shoulder. Yeah, okay, he actually understands right and left, hey man, I am drinking.

Speaker 2:

So, yeah, you feel a glow or you feel a warmth in your body, Glenn, and after a few moments she moves her hand and she shakes. She says you're clean of course I'm clean.

Speaker 3:

I am very fastidious.

Speaker 2:

And he leaves his hand on her shoulder okay, yeah, she doesn't, she doesn't try to take it away or anything like that, and he just stands there looking at her. Yeah, she doesn't move, she's fine with with this, it does not bother her Morse.

Speaker 5:

Making eye contact.

Speaker 4:

Yes, no reason. Do trains exist in your world?

Speaker 2:

We're going to take a five minute break. What hey?

Speaker 5:

I call caboose.

Speaker 2:

No, trains do not exist in this world, alright.

Speaker 4:

Fair enough. What about, like caravans, though? Nope.

Speaker 2:

Caravans don't exist anymore either.

Speaker 3:

We were just caravan guards once.

Speaker 5:

Can we put an orgy in a different term Than running a train on the ASMR?

Speaker 4:

Oh, my god Red full caravan on that bitch. I didn't run into a train on the ASMR. Oh my god, you're a full caravan on that bitch Do they have an Eiffel Tower.

Speaker 5:

This might not be a caravan, but can you at least travel the Silk Road.

Speaker 2:

I'm not even answering you.

Speaker 3:

Oh, and this is why we're M.

Speaker 4:

This is why we're m. This is why we're rated m. I mean that's really. It's more of a misnomer, right, because we're really just amateur, not actually much yeah, yeah, but we make enough jokes where it's like almost nc-17 you think so yeah, those ratings are all make up anyways.

Speaker 2:

I don't think I mean, they are literally made up. That is true, just like the points.

Speaker 4:

Well, it's not whose line, it's almost whose line. Yeah, the whole rating system is totally bonkers, though.

Speaker 5:

Anywho, moving on. Sorry, don't get me started on rating systems.

Speaker 3:

I saw a G-rated movie that was very, very much would be R or NC-17 today. Oh yeah, what was it? The first Planet of the Apes.

Speaker 4:

Planet of the Apes from the 70s or the 80s, whichever it was.

Speaker 3:

The 70s, I think With Charlton Heston. I think is that who was the star? I forget it. Probably would be nc-17, but I'm pretty sure we are god damn you, you damn dirty and dirty apes, so on anybody else's screen does maddie's like flash green every once in a while. Once in a while, yeah, okay, good I'm glad that's not happening again.

Speaker 5:

Like the entire screen just flashes green.

Speaker 2:

I only see part of it go. So Sister Anvar checks the gnome Excuse me Checks the gnome, shakes her head and then you all continue down the ship.

Speaker 3:

So Glenn is taking great care to not trip over anything while he's walking behind her with his hand on her shoulder.

Speaker 2:

Oh, you're just walking with your hand on her shoulder, okay.

Speaker 1:

Not awkward?

Speaker 2:

Not at all.

Speaker 5:

Hashtag consensual touch. Actually, I just saw my own screen flash green there.

Speaker 3:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

It was doing it last session too. As you're walking, you hear a a blood curdling scream. It sounds like a blood curdling, gurgling scream coming from the kitchen area it's nothing.

Speaker 5:

It's really nothing. We should just keep walking with our hands on shoulders.

Speaker 2:

Sister Anvar takes off in that direction and starts running.

Speaker 3:

Going with her. Yeah, we follow. You're not getting away from me.

Speaker 2:

Has.

Speaker 3:

Glenn been able to detect whether she has a second soul in her.

Speaker 2:

No, you've not. Does she want one? He's kidding.

Speaker 5:

Do you want a little one? I want a tabaxi soul.

Speaker 4:

Oh yeah we should make a level every two sessions Okay. Look if these aren't fucking gold jokes that we're making worthy of experience, then I don't know what the world is.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so you all get to the galley and as you step into the galley you all step in some kind of liquid on the floor and you can feel your boots and your shoes kind of push the liquid underneath you.

Speaker 5:

Oh no, Flovis, stop release.

Speaker 4:

What kind of liquid? Could you say that again?

Speaker 2:

It's a little dark in there, you can't really tell too well.

Speaker 5:

I have dark vision.

Speaker 3:

I have dark vision, but you still can't tell the color of the liquid. You still can't tell the color of the liquid Okay. Sorry, I'm colorblind anyway.

Speaker 5:

Who puts that in their backstory? What an unnecessary trait to have.

Speaker 2:

You can either have dark vision or color vision. You can't have both.

Speaker 4:

It's always in gray, even in the dark.

Speaker 5:

Sorry, I rolled colorblind on my character sheet.

Speaker 2:

So, is it sticky? Yeah, as you try to lift your foot, it is a little sticky.

Speaker 3:

So it's like a peep show on payday.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I was waiting for you to try to figure out how to make this seemen.

Speaker 4:

Morris. It's pretty clearly too dim in here to see comfortably. Is that what it sounds like? Yes, morris will throw his arms out and just cast his dancing lights in the shape of his little birds, and the birds will just follow the edges of the walls as far as they can and light the room for us.

Speaker 5:

Monty's trying to figure out where the scream came from once they enter the galley.

Speaker 2:

Okay, yeah, so as you're walking around, monty, you do see. So first the lights light up the entire room. Underneath you is a green sticky liquid that seems to slightly adhere to your shoes as you're lifting it. And, Glenn, you have seen this color before, but it was when Flubberstaffelis was a single entity, a single combined entity.

Speaker 3:

Entity A single combined entity. So not really sure how gelatinous cubes mate and reproduce. Do they just kind of dissolve and then reform into a second, two of them, or I don't know how do they mate?

Speaker 2:

Oh my god, this is a common search.

Speaker 1:

Of course it is.

Speaker 5:

Auto-correct.

Speaker 2:

They're asexual. They divide into smaller cubes of equal sizes, or via budding.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, when they get slashed, by slashing damage right. They break into two.

Speaker 1:

Yep.

Speaker 5:

So, Glenn says Ektor and starts swinging at the floor.

Speaker 3:

So I guess we needed a second cook. I don't what's going on here.

Speaker 5:

Can Monty ascertain anything from the whereabouts of where the screaming originated from?

Speaker 2:

yeah. So, monty, as you, as you are looking around the kitchen, uh, behind, uh or in front of the stove, so as you would enter this this little, there's this little hall where the stove and some of the counter space are, and in that little area you see a body there, uh, and it is a, a half-orc creature, um, and it is covered in this green slime goo, uh, and very obviously dead. Part of his skin has been disintegrated, uh, it looks like it's been eaten away, and the cube itself, or the gelatinous cube, is obviously all over the galley floor now.

Speaker 5:

Does he recognize the half-orc?

Speaker 2:

You've seen this half-orc up topside Moors or this half-orc carry nines down low decks.

Speaker 5:

Blood something or other. Blood Stout, blood Spout, blood Spout I. Blood Stout, blood Spout, blood Spout.

Speaker 3:

Blood Spout. I have Stout right now, there's no foreshadowing there.

Speaker 4:

I thought he was Blood Stout. I thought he was Blood.

Speaker 5:

Spout, blood Spout. I wrote down Blood Stout.

Speaker 4:

I wrote down Blood Stout as well.

Speaker 5:

Well, apparently it's Blood Sprout Blood. What Spout stout as well? First, all right. Well, apparently his blood sprout blood. What spout spout? It's blood sprout now. Uh, blood spout. Uh, monty will look and he'll he'll kind of advance into the room, but then he's gonna turn around and look at the captain and the as to see do they see what he's saying? Do they pick up on Blood Sprout? Dang it. I don't actually know what the real name is Blood Sprout, blood Spout. I'm not intentionally trying to mess it up, I'm actually just legitimately messing it up. Do they see that he is covered in this slime and apparently half dissolved?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, the dadalorian and Sister Anvar walk around. They see the same thing. Sister Anvar quickly bends over and tries to heal the half-orc, but to no avail. Her hands light up slightly warm, that warm yellow glow that you've seen before, but nothing happens she doesn't care about flubberstaffelies?

Speaker 4:

what the fuck racist, racist assomar uh, racist.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, monty's gonna again, you know now draw his spear and his shield and be looking around the room for whatever the threat is. That apparently killed two people, or maybe just one. Who knows? He's not sure what's going on. Yeah, what he knows he needs to be worried. What's up?

Speaker 4:

morse. What's up, morse? When Morse recognizes or is told that it's Bloodspout in the kitchen or galley area, he's going to say Nines. And then he's going to turn and run towards where the cruise area, the cruise berthing is, where he thinks Nines is supposed to be.

Speaker 3:

He's going to send his birds out Just in a random direction.

Speaker 4:

Well, I mean, we already have been to our hammocks, most of us who don't have a fucking quarters room. It's a boat. I know where my shit's at, you know.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so how long have we? This is the second day at sea right.

Speaker 2:

It's the first day at sea you guys have been on the boat for like seven hours.

Speaker 5:

Come on this. It's the first day at sea. You guys have been on the boat for like seven hours.

Speaker 4:

Come on this thing this thing isn't, uh, 300 feet long. This has got to be only like a 60 70 foot sloop. Yeah, it's not huge, yeah. So morse goes to the birthing, the cruise birthing, uh, to where nines and we were uh assigned our spaces because the captain would have showed us around too, was like so we'd know where it's supposed to be, or somebody would have before we just like we're welcome to board to do whatever. So mortars knows where he's going, he's, he's booking it, his birds are going ahead of him and behind him to try to light the way ahead and keep anybody, if anybody's following him while he goes to go check to see if knights has been kept safe or not okayty's going to stay in the galley looking for the threat.

Speaker 2:

All right, where are you going, glenn?

Speaker 3:

So okay. So first does Glenn. Is it Glenn's belief that Flubberstofelis is dead?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you can pretty confidently say that Flubberstofelis is dead.

Speaker 3:

Okay, then if he's definitely dead, then he'll. He'll look at monty and say maybe we should go with moores, and then turn and follow moores uh, what is the captain and smr doing at this point in time?

Speaker 2:

uh, the captain has. The captain is looking around and his head is turning frantically from one side to the other and you see one of his eyes that were glowing before has gone completely dark. It looks like the the bowl behind it just went out the captain was this?

Speaker 5:

was this noticeable or at all? And uh, because we we saw this in the tiefling too correct. Well, you saw one of his eyes glow just as nines passed out and does monty, I guess, draw any connection between the tiefling's eye, what he, and what he's saying now in the captain?

Speaker 2:

no, I, I may be leading you straight here. It's, it's. It looks like the dadalorian is very stressed and his body seems to almost be shutting down from that stress.

Speaker 5:

Oh, okay, monty's going to look to the response to try to perceive what the aasimar is picking up on, based on a room where one of her crewmates is clearly dead and spread all over the place, a half orc that is probably dead as well, but somewhat dissolving within the ooze, and her captain is freaking out, so he wants to see what she's doing yeah, sister anvar yeah, sister anvar is uh next to the captain now and she's trying to calm him down.

Speaker 2:

You see her trying to cast some spells on the warforged um and the eye is lighting up and slightly, but then going black again and so it's flickering a little bit, but she's actively trying to uh calm the captain and heal him and in in that moment where Glenn mentions to Monty, he's going to simply say go, please go with mortars.

Speaker 5:

I will be there in the moment. I don't want to leave these two. That's all he's going to say and he's going to stay in the galley.

Speaker 2:

Okay, hey, you know what a DM loves more than anything.

Speaker 1:

The party.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 4:

As we mentioned, the ship's only so big. We really are in the split split.

Speaker 3:

True true.

Speaker 5:

Monty jumped in the water and started swimming.

Speaker 2:

Sister Anvar says to you please help me get him to the engineering room. The chief engineer can look at him. He does a much better job at mending the captain than I can.

Speaker 5:

But what is going on here in the galley? You have two of your crewmates spread all over the place.

Speaker 2:

Literally. Literally yeah, I can't do anything more for them, but the captain I can save.

Speaker 5:

How do I know I can trust you?

Speaker 2:

I guess you don't. You can go with your other party members if you'd like, or you can come with me All right, monty, turn down leaves.

Speaker 1:

Okay, All right, monty, or you can just stay in the galley, or that, or that.

Speaker 5:

With my spear and shield. Yeah, Monty will help her get the captain further away from his companions into the engineering room.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 5:

It's a great idea. Let's do it.

Speaker 2:

I don't know why, but I just see the light from Mor's spell, leaving Monty's there with his shield and spear, and he just looks around.

Speaker 5:

today we fight in the shade all right, yeah, monty's gonna follow her with the captain. Uh, apparently towards engineering something or other okay, uh.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, glenn and mo, you arrive in Birthing. There is nobody in the hammocks, but where the four of your hammocks are set up, you do see a.

Speaker 5:

Only three hammocks yeah yeah, bill's got it.

Speaker 2:

Your three hammocks are set up. There is a, there's a black. It looks like a. Is Icarus a word? Icarus is a black. It looks like Is Icarus a word? Icarus is a word, right, it's a word Icarus.

Speaker 1:

that's what I'm looking for.

Speaker 2:

There's a black Icar trail leading away from the hammock.

Speaker 3:

Which the hammock that Nines was in.

Speaker 2:

Yes, well, you can assume you didn't know which hammock he was in specifically.

Speaker 3:

Well, he's gone.

Speaker 4:

Glenn walks away. No, I'll just cast a mage hand to grab him by the collar. I guess I don't.

Speaker 3:

Glenn will say I mean I don't see him here. I mean I wouldn't blame him for leaving these beds are crappy and start walking following the I-Corps trail.

Speaker 4:

Morse will send the birds the lights to go, lead the way following the I-Corps trail, in particular to see where it goes and light the way forward.

Speaker 5:

Which way does it lead?

Speaker 2:

It seems to lead deeper into the ship.

Speaker 5:

I mean, it's not a very big ship. How deep are we talking?

Speaker 2:

It's not a very big ship lengthwise. How many ways this has some weirdness to it.

Speaker 4:

How many ways between decks is there? Is it like one main stairwell or two or three main stairwells to go up and down?

Speaker 2:

You're not too sure, but you know you've seen at least two Okay, up and down. You're not too sure, but you know you've seen at least two Okay. So, based off of Monty and Sister Anvar helping the captain, they're a little bit slower. You guys are rushed, are rushing towards Nine's bed and then down. You both arrive at Engineering about the same time.

Speaker 5:

Dang it. That was your chance to like split us up and you brought us right back together again, or that was his chance to like split us up and you brought us right back together again, or that was his chance to bring us back together again.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's much easier for me.

Speaker 3:

So Glenn turns and runs the other way. Okay. Screw you DM.

Speaker 2:

All right, so Roll. Initiative.

Speaker 5:

Uh-oh, do we get a map now? Now, we haven't had a map in like two sessions. It's not true? You had a map last session. Oh, I didn't look at it. Did we have a map last session?

Speaker 2:

last session. Right, you did, right, no shopping no, we were just running around town. We're in town we're shopping.

Speaker 5:

You right, you right, we're shopping and flirting. That's all we did last session causing trouble causing trouble. Alright, so it's like we're at Target looking at candles so what you see before you is a large space.

Speaker 2:

It's four levels below the top deck and what you see is a large space, um, with a, a path leading to its center, and in the very center is what what you assume is the core. It's a, this massive, multi, multifaceted crystal. It's suspended in the center of the room by, uh, intricate metal braces that are coming down from multiple sides and connecting to it, and it's got shimmering, magical fields just kind of pulsing out of this crystal. It glows a bright blue and as it's spinning you see spiderwebs kind of, or cracks spiderweb along the surface of it and then go away just as quickly as it's pulsing. And then every once in a while you see a spark jump out of the crystal and hit the metal bracers or the wall which is also covered in metal around this area, and it kind of scorches the wall a little bit and you see little black marks where this heat has obviously scorched the metal in several places. What color is the?

Speaker 5:

crystal Blue Monte cast message Fun, play, play, fun, fun.

Speaker 1:

Power.

Speaker 2:

Power fun play Ship, ship, go fast. Fun play. Play fun, fun, fun Power Power.

Speaker 5:

Fun play. Ship, ship, go fast. Fun play.

Speaker 2:

You've took For our listeners. Justin is very upset because he took Morse's thing.

Speaker 1:

Hi, I'm Morse.

Speaker 3:

So I just watched Justin smell something, make a weird face like it smelled bad and then eat it. Is that a piece of cheese or something?

Speaker 2:

Oh fish jerky, oh God From.

Speaker 5:

Iceland. Why? Why, out of all the jerky you can consume, why choose fish?

Speaker 2:

He bought it in Iceland.

Speaker 3:

Is it as disgusting as I would imagine it to be?

Speaker 5:

well, I mean, smoked salmon is technically fish jerky no, it is not no smoke salmon is fish jerky no, it is not jerky.

Speaker 2:

Jerky is defined as, like all the moisture being pulled out of it. Yeah, yeah dried meat.

Speaker 5:

Alright, we're going to have to fight on this one, but we'll roll the initiative later.

Speaker 3:

Okay, alright, so there's a broken crystal in the center of the room.

Speaker 2:

It's not broken Cracking, it's cracking and reforming together and in front of that you see Nines staring with his back to you all, staring at the crystal.

Speaker 3:

Okay.

Speaker 4:

More shouts, Nines.

Speaker 2:

Nines' head turned to the side and he looks over his shoulder and sees you all there, and from where you're at, you can see a nasty grin on his face.

Speaker 5:

I think we're gonna have to. I mean, I know Brandon's not here to play his character, but I don't know if we're gonna kill him in this session. I mean, that's mean.

Speaker 2:

You miss a session with the podcast. You die, you die.

Speaker 5:

I mean, we're all saying the same thing, correct? Yes, so Monty's going to go in and look over it and acknowledge that Nines is here, and then he's going to see Moors as well. What else do we see in the room? Anything other than you've stated.

Speaker 2:

No, there's nothing else in the room except for the captain, the ASMR and your group and nines.

Speaker 5:

And nines, uh, monty's gonna turn back to the captain and the ASMR. And uh, well, actually no, he's gonna turn to the ASMR and say who did we come here to find who else should be here?

Speaker 2:

Uh, the chief engineer should be here. Uh, do you see him? No, I don't.

Speaker 5:

What is his name? David Cutler. Do you know how many kids he has?

Speaker 2:

What is his wife's name? Engineer's name is Name's fine Grant.

Speaker 5:

Grant Monty's going to approach Nines and keep an eye out, looking for Grint as he's doing, so Okay.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, as you're walking on the platform, you do see a body about 15 feet below you off the platform.

Speaker 5:

He's going to turn around, and then Asimar will say, hey, he's over here.

Speaker 2:

He's over here. Yeah, so the Asimar spreads her wings and flies down to Grent.

Speaker 5:

Which Nines is hovering over the top of?

Speaker 2:

No, no, no, it's off the platform.

Speaker 5:

Oh, off the platform. Okay, away from Nines.

Speaker 2:

It's about 15 feet below you.

Speaker 5:

Okay, so Montiel, just point out Grent to the Asimar and let her take care of so. Montiel's point out Grant to the SMR and let her take care of him, and he's going to continue to walk to Nines and say, hey, buddy, what's going on?

Speaker 2:

Nines looks at you and his pupils are extremely dilated you can barely see the irises themselves and he says in a voice you've never heard before coming from him this is my escape I don't do it.

Speaker 5:

Anybody escape is not necessary here. Um does monty sees, I'm assuming morse and glenn as well yeah, they're.

Speaker 2:

They're in the room with you. You all answered about the same time.

Speaker 5:

So Monty is going to look over to Mors and Glenn I don't know how to play this out the best, but he's going to want to alert them to what he's doing and make them aware that he needs their help now, and he's going to attempt to run over and grapple Nines.

Speaker 2:

So how are you going to do it? How are you going to alert your friends?

Speaker 5:

He's going to probably use message. He's going to cast message out and say come help fast. He's not going to say much, but he's going to be darting towards Nines, trying to essentially grapple him as fast as he can, hoping that his colleagues will come help him, because Nines is the BBEG. Apparently, colleagues, traveling companions.

Speaker 2:

Slaves, alright, uh, yeah, let's try to grapple Nines. Give me a contested strength check. Slaves, Alright, uh yeah, let's, uh, let's Slaves, let's try to uh. Let's try to grapple Nines. Give me a contested strength check. Ah, strength check, so roll. Aaaaaaathletics Athletics. Yep Nines got an 18.

Speaker 5:

No way, oh shit, natural.

Speaker 2:

Is that a nat?

Speaker 5:

20? I have a plus I have a plus zero on that one. So a nat 20 for a 20.

Speaker 2:

Nines also has a plus zero for that.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, eat it, Nines.

Speaker 2:

Suck it, Brandon.

Speaker 5:

Not you, the other one, the other one, the one's not here.

Speaker 2:

So Nines tries to fight with, fight you on this, but he's he's. You grapple him. You're holding him away from the crystal, um, he's freaking crystals man.

Speaker 5:

They keep coming back. I don't get that's. That's pretty the story arc for this whole campaign. It is damn. No, I don't believe you. Strippers named Crystal and.

Speaker 3:

Is there any Some of the dust off of this crystal to make some more spices?

Speaker 2:

You could try, Monty, you're about to have the best food you've ever had. Alright, so Nines looks at you and his smile grows even wider. It's like abnormally large, with the very edges of his mouth reaching the very tops of his cheek.

Speaker 5:

Painfully, like almost cracking, bleeding.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, painfully spreading.

Speaker 5:

Monty's going to whisper buddy it. It's okay, calm down you. You're not of yourself right now. It is all right, let it happen. Go to your. Go to your safe. Go to your head what will happen yell.

Speaker 3:

I think he needs a hand job you 70s porno music all Alright, Morris, are you doing anything? What's what Nine said last time?

Speaker 2:

That's true. Yes, he did.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, well, you know.

Speaker 1:

Since you've got him.

Speaker 4:

I imagine that Morris can go with like actually hear the sound of the scruffle and Monty's message out.

Speaker 1:

Yep.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. So Morris will shout oh, monty needs help and start running and send his birds ahead again. The ship's only so big, so we'd see it pretty quickly. As we come around the corner, we'll see, is Sister Envar already down to the body. What do we see?

Speaker 2:

as Glenn and Morse come, you guys are in the room when all this happened. Oh, we can see them. You arrived in engineering with Monty.

Speaker 4:

And we are also on the same page. We have a pretty good feeling that Nines isn't Nines right now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you guys are all on the same page on this. You may have been eating, are all on the same page on this. You may have been eating your jerky when I was describing this.

Speaker 4:

It was a very distracting and unpleasant experience.

Speaker 5:

The natural 20 roll. We figured the heck out.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah, we already see Monty's already grappled Nines, he's got him put down Not put down, but like.

Speaker 5:

I'm shocked that Nines has a plus zero in his strength.

Speaker 2:

He's a monk, he goes up to his party. Big Dex.

Speaker 5:

Big Dex. Yeah, I mean, I could out-Dex him as well, but Nines has got big Dex, dex.

Speaker 2:

Actually, he has a higher dex than you do.

Speaker 5:

He's at plus 10?.

Speaker 2:

Wow.

Speaker 5:

His dexterity is at 20. Wow, oh man, I do not have that high of a dexterity. Yeah you're like the second Hold on. I wish we could climb freaking walls.

Speaker 2:

Glenn also has a higher dexterity than you.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, you're the second worst dexterity in the room.

Speaker 5:

We still can't climb walls.

Speaker 3:

No, you can Because for some reason climbing a wall requires acrobatics. It doesn't use dexterity.

Speaker 1:

There's a lot of strange.

Speaker 5:

It's athletics.

Speaker 1:

It's athletics-based.

Speaker 5:

Anyway, you guys are in the process of helping Monty subdue nines, right yeah.

Speaker 4:

We'll get closer and not do anything in particular, but he's wary and looking around. He's both watching the body on the ground and watching the nines.

Speaker 5:

Monty, you seem to be struggling. What's going on, buddy?

Speaker 3:

Glenn is having flashbacks to the last time Monty held a party member that was struggling to get away and he kind of takes a dagger out, spins around the back end. Again, wait, and what party member are we talking about? Dorby? What did I do?

Speaker 4:

You guys bonked him on the back of the head.

Speaker 3:

You held him and I knocked him out.

Speaker 4:

Took him against his will.

Speaker 3:

He wanted to leave the party and we weren't having it. You will be our friend.

Speaker 1:

You don't remember that.

Speaker 5:

Thank you forever. No friend, you don't remember the text.

Speaker 2:

No, I don't that was one of your first episodes too wow, wait, was this the door of your remembers? Episode no, this was after door of your remembers. He had died dozens of times and he was like going through PTSD because of it oh and yeah, and he was trying to wander out to get himself killed.

Speaker 1:

And we didn't want that to happen.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, no relief for you. Okay, so Glenn kind of has his dagger, he's holding it out and tilts his head.

Speaker 5:

Confused.

Speaker 3:

Shoulder and he's gonna knock out Hermes.

Speaker 2:

Alright, you made a attack roll.

Speaker 3:

Okay At advantage, since he's restrained Sure 26. Nice.

Speaker 2:

So your dagger hits him in the back of the head. And as your dagger hits him, his mouth opens and this black smoke comes out of it straight towards Monty God, but it goes around your face and goes right into the crystal.

Speaker 5:

Uh-oh, that's probably worse.

Speaker 2:

And the crystal goes from a blue to a grayish color and starts pulsing faster Strippers, and Nines passes out and Nines falls to the ground.

Speaker 5:

Well, Monty will gently lie him on the ground because I've got him.

Speaker 1:

I can restrain him with a natural 20. I get to decide about the Nines Monty. Thank you very much.

Speaker 5:

Mr Dungeon. Master Monty will set him gently on the ground, resting his head upon a pillow of flowers.

Speaker 2:

All right. Where did you get the flowers?

Speaker 5:

It doesn't matter. You're focusing on the wrong thing, All right. And then Monty turns his attention to the crystal.

Speaker 3:

No, this party never focuses on the wrong thing.

Speaker 5:

Pulsing gray, you said yes, pulsing gray.

Speaker 2:

So just as this happens, Fifty shades of gray. No just one, just one shade of gray, then how could it be pulsing the Asimar?

Speaker 5:

Would you say it's robbing?

Speaker 2:

Sister Anvar flies up with Grint, holding Grint, and places him down on the path.

Speaker 3:

Next to Nines.

Speaker 2:

Next to all of you. Yes.

Speaker 5:

Sister, we have appeared to have found the Shadow's next victim, who's our friend here, but as we incapacitated him, the Shadow left and has found its way to this crystal, and he stops there.

Speaker 3:

I'm pretty sure you told me that it could infest a ship, but you know points at the crystal.

Speaker 2:

I did say it could infest a magical item.

Speaker 5:

What is this crystal? Where did you guys get this crystal from?

Speaker 2:

This was made. Most of the fleet for Crystal Deep is made of these same engines. We've had them for years. What is the engine? Some wizards made it for us.

Speaker 5:

So you're saying we went all the way back in time just to fight these crystals and then they put them in their freaking boats? Alright, that's cool.

Speaker 2:

It could be a crystal that's not associated with the other crystals.

Speaker 5:

No, no, there's no one crystal here.

Speaker 3:

All crystals are the same. Yeah, all crystals are the same they're all strippers.

Speaker 5:

Well, it appears as though the shadow figure that we have been looking for is now in the crystal of your boat.

Speaker 3:

So how necessary is this crystal?

Speaker 2:

It's not so. Grent speaks up. Who is the chief engineer?

Speaker 5:

Oh, he's awake now.

Speaker 2:

Yes, he is.

Speaker 5:

Glad you could join the conversation.

Speaker 2:

He says to you all there's a, there's a, there's a few things that we can do here. Um, to get this thing out of it, I, I think, I think we could probably overload it. Uh, there's a way to to spike the energy to the crystal itself. Um, we might be able to break it and, if so, that that could kill it. Or, as a resort and something I really don't want to do, because these things are expensive and it's my entire reason for being on the ship we could probably just eject it into the sea. No, I'm confused.

Speaker 3:

You would rather break it than throw it overboard. Wouldn't the end result be the same?

Speaker 2:

If it shattered, I can still collect the pieces and we can bring it back and probably get it repaired.

Speaker 1:

Okay, okay.

Speaker 3:

I mean okay, so let's uh. Well, what's gonna happen to the spirit thingy if we shatter it? It's probably just gonna go into another host that looks over at Monty, possibly.

Speaker 2:

But Sister Anvar says I believe that if we shatter it it would force the demon to manifest and we could probably just confront it. I think we should throw it overboard.

Speaker 4:

What makes you think that would work, sister Anvar? Why was the head bob? What makes you think that would work, sister?

Speaker 2:

Anvara? Why was the head bob, sister Anvara? I've seen demons possess magical items before, and each time the item was destroyed or damaged or heavily damaged, the demon typically manifested because it was too weak to possess another creature okay, is that what we think we should do?

Speaker 4:

then it's best for everyone.

Speaker 2:

If that's the case, and in Moore's looks around, overloading the core might also do it, but I think we may be able to destroy the spirit altogether if we send too much energy through the crystal.

Speaker 4:

We don't really know anything about the spirit. Maybe it's just it needed some help.

Speaker 2:

I think Monty's got a good idea of the spirit.

Speaker 5:

I'd say we send it back to the planet. It's not just the one that we are on. Whatever it takes to do that, let us make it happen.

Speaker 3:

Glenn instantly snaps his head over it. Morse, send it back to its plane, you could do that.

Speaker 4:

Oh yeah, I could banish it. That's true. I've done that before.

Speaker 3:

Does it need to be manifested for that to work?

Speaker 4:

Um, I'm not sure. I don't think I've read anything about it. My school of magic doesn't cover banishment.

Speaker 5:

It's a good idea, it doesn't cover everything.

Speaker 4:

Mors. That's a really good idea. We can find out and I'll write it down and maybe we can all collectively learn something from this. So Mors rolls his shoulders and then takes his staff in two hands and clunks it onto the ground in front of him, and I'm just making sure. So as soon as Mors starts to cast this new spell, the dancing lights, the little birds, go away. Does this core give off some kind of its own light? I imagine it probably does. It's like yeah yeah, there's a.

Speaker 2:

It's a sickly gray light that's.

Speaker 4:

That's covering the entire room right now so the natural kind of like healthy, warm colors, of like fire colored birds fades away and then, like this gray blue light fills out and so more starts to change. He's got his helmet down again so you can't see his face. You just hear the noise reverberating as he's going through his motions here. It doesn't take long, it's a normal spell, regular action to cast it. But as he chants it he slams the bottom of his staff down again and he tries to cast, he attempts to cast banishment on the core.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 5:

We just beat your BBEG, Brandon.

Speaker 2:

First off, not the BBEG. Yeah, mors, you feel the magic come out of your body and then, as you feel it hit the core itself, it dissipates. Oh crap, that didn't work. The core, no the core, no the magic.

Speaker 4:

Because it's not a creature, Correct. Does it still consume a spell slot?

Speaker 2:

Yes it does.

Speaker 4:

Okay, fair enough. No, I don't think I could feel the effect. I would be able to identify that. It didn't fail because of the demon, it's because of the sonic, correct, cool? No, uh, my magic won't work on it right now. Maybe if it consumes or possesses something else but the core. I can't banish the core. Maybe there's something else I could do, but Table talk.

Speaker 5:

What are our three options in common verbiage Okay so your three options in common verbiage.

Speaker 2:

Okay so your three options in common verbiage. I'll just spell it out for you.

Speaker 5:

Stop beating around the bush here.

Speaker 2:

The first is you can overload the core, and that is a series of skill challenges. You can try to fight it directly, and that is destroying the crystal and then fighting, and then going into combat with manifesting or after it manifests. And then the third option is ejecting it into the core, and that is. I'm not going to spoil that one, if you choose that.

Speaker 5:

Alright, I'm thinking. Option three. I don't know what do you guys want, just because there's a bit of uncertainty there. The other two that'll be fun, but I'm hoping Brandon, the reason he left that open-ended is because he didn't plan it out.

Speaker 2:

Oh no, I planned it out.

Speaker 5:

Then we'll go with option four, the one he didn't plan. Let's look at the dust in the room.

Speaker 3:

So, Glenn.

Speaker 5:

We'll turn around and start stabbing the captain.

Speaker 3:

I was going to say Glenn is going to turn around and stab Invarra.

Speaker 5:

Oh really Apparently he planned that one out.

Speaker 3:

Oh no, I'm possessed and stabbed, sister Invarra.

Speaker 5:

Justin, what do you want to do? I'm just kidding. I'm voting for option three.

Speaker 4:

Well, my only concern is, like the Moors knows, like the crew in general is under this like financial hardship. He's not really sure what the Corps does for the crew but it is important in some way Sorry what You've got, wind I've got wind, sure yeah for the crew, but you've got wind, sorry what.

Speaker 5:

You've got wind, I've got wind, sure.

Speaker 4:

We are the crew's saving grace. We're the rope that's going to pull them back out of the red into the black. So he's Because the engineer Grint suggested that the jettison is like the worst case for them. Mors would want to pursue something that's more helpful to them, like one or two. Grint didn't seem to care too much.

Speaker 5:

So what is Mors going to say to Monty and Glenn? I got your back.

Speaker 4:

Brendan, did you guys suggest something already? Did Mors, or did Monty actually suggest something to Mors Did?

Speaker 5:

you guys suggest something already. Did the Mors, or did Monty actually suggest something to Mors? Oh, monty's going to say I think let's send this thing overboard.

Speaker 4:

Let's send it to the Deep. Six Well that is what the spirit came from. But isn't that worse for the crew? They're already facing hard times. I wouldn't want to push them further into a depression or whatever it is they're going through. If we can do something that's less bad for them, I'd prefer that.

Speaker 5:

Morris, you know me, I am going to follow you through thick and thin. What do you suggest?

Speaker 4:

And Morris looks back to Grant and says he said breaking it or overloading it should be fine. Overloading it might kill the spirit inside, which I don't know that I feel good about Breaking it. We might have to fight it, which maybe I don't know, I'm not afraid of a fight. Yeah, I'm not afraid of a fight either. I don't want to hurt anything, but I think we'll be okay.

Speaker 2:

So, as you are talking, the pulsing in the core starts to speed up.

Speaker 3:

Glenn will look at the core. Calm down. We're trying to make a decision.

Speaker 5:

We're trying to decide how we're going to destroy you. We'll jerk you off in a second, just give us a second Leave us alone.

Speaker 4:

Is Glenn also looking at more of a fliss decision, or is Glenn like Glenn's?

Speaker 3:

recommendation is to chuck it overboard.

Speaker 2:

Overboard.

Speaker 3:

Mainly because it's well. Would that be his decision? Probably because that's the easiest solution to it, but he could probably be easily convinced that it might be fun to fight it.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, honestly, justin, I think you go ahead and take this one. I think our characters will follow you on this one.

Speaker 4:

Morse says, I think our best bet is to try to overload it, but if you both think we should jettison it, then I think that's a fine option too.

Speaker 5:

Montiel turned to Grunt, great Grunt.

Speaker 3:

Grunt.

Speaker 5:

How do we overload this son of a? Well, I dare not say, and as he looks to Asimar, because his mouth is pure, looks to SMR, because his mouth is pure.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. So Grant looks up and points to the metal brackets that are holding it and he says each of these brackets has magical runes that are holding the crystal in place. If you were to find a way to overload them with energy or to reconfigure the lines altogether, then that could overload the core and do exactly what you want. We've overloaded the core before for testing purposes, before our first voyage with it, and it shuts it down for about five minutes. Then it'll start back up.

Speaker 5:

Interstitial point defects. All right, so what do we do next for about five minutes?

Speaker 1:

then it'll start back up.

Speaker 5:

Interstitial point defects Not so bad at all. Alright, so what do we do next?

Speaker 2:

Alright, is that your decision?

Speaker 5:

Yeah, apparently Overloading the Core is our decision.

Speaker 2:

So this is going to be a skill challenge. It's going to be oh, we have to climb a wall huh, you have to achieve six successes before three fails to pass this, it's going to be a DC 18 plus for success.

Speaker 1:

Jesus Christ.

Speaker 2:

All right.

Speaker 1:

You all have high skill saves.

Speaker 3:

Give it to us.

Speaker 5:

All right, I mean Glenn's got inspiration, Alright yeah.

Speaker 2:

But here's the other side of that. You each, during a round, I'm going to describe an action and you get to choose, as a party, who is going to do that. But during one round, only one person can do one thing, until the next round. Okay.

Speaker 3:

My problem with skill challenges on Glenn is most of Glenn's skills. The high ones are all social skills.

Speaker 5:

So what is Glenn's top skills?

Speaker 3:

Sleight of hand and thieves tools. Okay, persuasion, deception. Sleight of hand and thieves tools.

Speaker 5:

Okay, I've got persuasion, deception. I've got decks and wisdom, so we're good there. What's more is top skills.

Speaker 3:

Decks and wisdom.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Oh, better charisma.

Speaker 4:

Scores, not skills. Oh, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5:

I'm talking about the modifiers.

Speaker 4:

My top are dex and wisdom so history, arcana, are both plus nine for mores, uh, I got some plus fives with insight, perception and religion, I got some fours, uh, but my fours are gonna get beat. Beat by Glenn. Yeah, that's probably it.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, dex. So Dex and Wisdom is my tops. Looks like Int and Wisdom are Mors' tops.

Speaker 3:

Dex and Charisma are Glenn's. Yeah, Wisdom might be me. Dex and Charisma.

Speaker 5:

Well, your Dex is even greater than mine.

Speaker 2:

You talk about it, go ahead, brandon, do your best, alright. So as you're staring at the core, you see that the core is pulsing and flashing and it's sending out more and more sparks all over the place.

Speaker 2:

But you identify runes that are coming down from the metal brackets and those runes are flashing as well. And Grent says to you that's where we have to identify. We have to identify the instability in the runes. So who would like to try to check for the instability in the runes? So who would like to try to check for the instability in the runes?

Speaker 4:

And it's probably an investigation, I presume.

Speaker 5:

Uh, yeah, I'm gonna let either one of you take it, yeah.

Speaker 4:

Mors might be the right choice.

Speaker 5:

Mors yeah, let's do it.

Speaker 4:

Sure man, more is.

Speaker 2:

We'll go step up and take a look okay, you can either roll me an arcana or an investigation check yeah, we just correct all right, we're gonna get.

Speaker 4:

We're gonna take a look at the arcana all right uh, which is a plus 9. Alright, what you got, 13 plus 9 is a 22.

Speaker 2:

Alright. So on the metal bracket closest to you all, you can see where a few glyphs have failed and you can see that the field is very weak there as another bolt of energy comes out of there or another spark comes out of that specific glyph and strikes the wall.

Speaker 5:

So you said we have to pass six out of three failures.

Speaker 2:

Six successes before three failures. Dang this is going to be, tough All right 18 plus.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, I mean, 18 plus is no joke. But you got that. But I.

Speaker 2:

I'm giving you guys options to choose who's doing it like.

Speaker 5:

I'm not I mean yes, but we have to choose correctly yes, you do this is indiana jones in the freaking cup situation, but all right, okay, next one, so man so the next one is uh, now, now that you have I or sir morris, what do you say to that?

Speaker 2:

um, yeah, he, he sees the issue and he points toward and says, uh, that room, there you see where the weakness is and it's as it's like sparking and looking atypical okay um, so, as you're all talking, uh, two or three crew members join you in the engineering room and Grant continues to talk to you and he says now that we've identified it, we have to reconfigure the power line from that bracket to the other brackets to make sure that this weak glyph isn't causing the power to divert other places. So we have to reconfigure the power lines and the power lines are directly below us. We have to climb the ladder down and pull the lines from that bracket to the other one.

Speaker 5:

This is straight up like Deadpool and Wolverine connecting to Anyway go ahead.

Speaker 2:

You have to climb down, and what?

Speaker 3:

I'm ahead. You have to climb down and what? I'm sorry.

Speaker 2:

You have to climb down and manually move the power line from one bracket to the other.

Speaker 5:

So climbing is athletics right.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Climbing is athletics, but it's a ladder right, it's a ladder.

Speaker 4:

It shouldn't matter. Sam will do it.

Speaker 3:

So climbing it as a leg, but it's a ladder, right the ladder, it shouldn't matter. Sam will do it. So if it's moving something from one place to another place, it might be a dex check and it would probably I mean glenn will, I guess step up uh, monty's gonna look at glenn and say you got this, my friend all right, glenn, you can roll me either a persuasion check to try to convince the crew members that just joined you to do it, or roll me a strength check.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, it's going to be persuasion.

Speaker 5:

You go die for me.

Speaker 3:

I'm going to use my inspiration.

Speaker 2:

What was your first roll?

Speaker 3:

A one which is a 13.

Speaker 5:

A one was resulted in a 13. Let's all pause for a sec on that one 28.

Speaker 2:

So what do you say to these three crew members that joined you?

Speaker 3:

So Glenda's going to look at the three crew members and say, okay, listen, you guys are very strong. It looks like you know exactly what you're supposed to do. I need you to go down there and move that cable to there. You got this. You know what you're doing. You're big strapping lads. Go for it.

Speaker 5:

Go get him. Tiger Slaps him on the butt as they leave to their own death.

Speaker 2:

Listening to your rallying speech, the three crew members get very excited and they rush down the ladder and over to the power line and after a couple of minutes of bedangling it from one bracket they move it over to the other bracket.

Speaker 4:

Bedangling.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, kind of like finagling, but wrong. What's next?

Speaker 4:

That's two successes. Brandon Alright, brandon, you're doing great.

Speaker 5:

It's time to get a fail. Let's go.

Speaker 2:

I'm not against you guys in the story. I hope you know that we got suspense man, Come on.

Speaker 5:

This is suspense for the listeners.

Speaker 3:

It's Monty's turn, so it's time for a fail. Yeah, it's.

Speaker 5:

Monty's turn Time for a fail.

Speaker 2:

Water check. Grant says the crystal's moving. And inside the crystal, monty, you see there's a darker spot in the gray crystal moving from one place to the other and it's bouncing around from one section of the crystal to the next, to the next, to the next. And Sister Anvar says to you that must be the demon inside the crystal. And so Grunt says if we can trigger the core overload, specifically when it hits one of the outside points of the crystal, then we can time it with the shapeshifter's movements and deal maximum damage to it. So, monty, because you are the last one left, monty's gonna shoot it you can either either give me a perception check or a religion check.

Speaker 5:

Uh, let's see Perception or religion. I will choose perception check.

Speaker 3:

Hold on. Are we in a forest?

Speaker 2:

Not in a forest.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, alright. Um, unfortunately Monty got a 21 on this perception check.

Speaker 2:

Okay, yeah. So you see exactly where this thing's moving, you see almost a pattern to it and you're able to predict where it's going from one point of the crystal to the next.

Speaker 5:

And he's going to shoot it.

Speaker 2:

Are you shooting it?

Speaker 5:

It's what I'm supposed to do. We're trying to stop it right. Monty has a hammer and he treats everything like nails.

Speaker 3:

I think you're just supposed to tell him where to go, right.

Speaker 5:

Monty will just tell him where he's supposed to go.

Speaker 4:

It's over there.

Speaker 5:

I perceive that it's in that direction.

Speaker 2:

Next, so, as this is happening, the core uh shakes violently and the entire you feel the entire ship move and uh.

Speaker 5:

Well, I hope we're moving in the direction of Crystal Deep the entire time. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Uh, we do gotta get to someplace.

Speaker 2:

But you see, you feel it, the entire ship shake and as it shakes a whole bunch of you hear. Behind you in the galley, a whole bunch of pots fall out of where they're staying, not stowed for sea properly. Benches are flipping over, it's just blocking the entire way and you can see down the hall that there's just debris everywhere and the captain says to you all we must clear the way in case we have to evacuate.

Speaker 3:

Oh, is that the next thing we have to do?

Speaker 2:

Yes, that is the next skill check.

Speaker 3:

Oh, clear the way from stuff falling down. Is that what you just said? I guess Glenn can give it a shot.

Speaker 2:

Alright, so you can give me a survival or an intimidation check.

Speaker 3:

Who am I intimidating?

Speaker 2:

The three crew members that are now shaking violently and terrified and panicking that they're going to die. Alright, I will try to panicking that they're going to die.

Speaker 3:

All right, I will try to convince them that they're going to die. Okay, ready, that's intimidating. I mean survive. I don't even know what my survival is. What? Yeah, no, yeah, I'll give it a shot. Intimidating. I'm probably going to fail. I failed 14. All right, give it a shot. Intimidating Probably going to fail. I failed 14. Alright.

Speaker 2:

So, even though you try to convince these crew members that this is their best bet to go and clear these debris out of the way so you have a clear route to the lifeboats or the main deck the crew members are panicking. They're trying to clear things out of the way, but they're really slow in the progress, so your next check is going to be a disadvantage. Alright, so the core. So now we need to start executing the final overload. Sequence Grent says to you all. So we need to balance the magical inputs to really ensure that the shadow within is destroyed. Sequence Grent says to you all so we need to balance the magical inputs to really ensure that the shadow within is destroyed.

Speaker 4:

Mors rips his hands together. This is his bag, baby.

Speaker 2:

Alright, you can give me an Arcana or a Dexterity check.

Speaker 4:

We're going to go Arcana again. You said at disadvantage. Correct On the dice. Dice, it's a 2 and a 7. Um, and my plus 9 makes it 11 or a 16. So it's a failure regardless. All right, it's fail number one. Right, that's fail.

Speaker 2:

Number two Fail number two, oh, uh-oh, all right. So, uh Grint, uh, with this, this, the shaking that's going on in the core, he's starting to get a little concerned with everything and uh, um, he says. He says we, we might be able to, to give ourselves a little bit of leeway here, if we can divert the power from our non-essential systems over to our essential systems. All we've got to do is reach that panel over there, and he points to a small panel that's down a ladder about 50 feet across and up another ladder, down a ladder about 50 feet across and up another ladder, or we can take this, but you also see a small ledge that you could probably run across.

Speaker 5:

Sounds like you need somebody.

Speaker 2:

Nimbly, pimbly, nimbly. Pimbly, this might be a job for me okay, you can give me a acrobatics check or an investigation check.

Speaker 5:

So my investigation is a plus one, or I will choose acrobatics plus eight. Oh dear lord, barely I got a 19.

Speaker 2:

11 plus eight. Okay, okay, okay, that was too close. It's going to come down to one roll and all three of you are up.

Speaker 1:

Alright, yeah, we passed that one Barely.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, monty, you're able to get over to the core.

Speaker 5:

I want to hear you say nimbly-pimbly.

Speaker 2:

You were able to get over to the panel all nimbly-pimbly. You were able to get over to the panel all nimbly-pimbly, like jumping from treetop to treetop or rooftop to rooftop.

Speaker 5:

Looking for some nights.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and you hit a couple buttons and you pull a lever and you hear kind of like a sigh from the core as it releases some pressure.

Speaker 5:

What was that sigh Audibly? What did that sound?

Speaker 2:

like yeah, it sounded like For our listeners that made Bill very uncomfortable. Alright, for our listeners.

Speaker 3:

I'm not uncomfortable. There's very few things that will make me uncomfortable.

Speaker 2:

So Grent says the core is primed for overload. This final stage we have to make sure we're synchronizing multiple systems to ensure it detonates in a controlled manner, otherwise it could take the entire ship out. So we need to balance the energy flow, seal certain containment rooms runes and time the detonation trigger perfectly. So this is going to be all three of you. Oh boy, so one of you has to detonate with perfect timing, one of you has to balance the energy flow and the other one has to seal containment runes. The DC is lowered for this one. Not all three of you have to pass.

Speaker 3:

So which one is sleight of hand? I'm not going to tell you that.

Speaker 5:

Okay so give us our options again.

Speaker 2:

One of you has to time the detonation trigger perfectly, another one has to balance the energy flows and the third has to seal containment runes.

Speaker 1:

Ouch.

Speaker 5:

I mean I'll take sealed containment rooms.

Speaker 3:

Timing. Is that Detonate feels?

Speaker 4:

like timing. Dexterity based Balance or seal is kind of where Morris was leaning, but I guess balancing is fine.

Speaker 3:

Sealed containment rooms for me.

Speaker 1:

Timing.

Speaker 5:

Morris has got sealed and Glenn's got timing.

Speaker 3:

Glenn has timing.

Speaker 5:

This is fun. Good job, Brandon. I applaud you for this. This is interesting. Thanks, buddy yeah.

Speaker 3:

All right, only if we succeed, if we fail, then it's not a good time.

Speaker 5:

If we fail, you suck big time. Glenn, give me a slide advantage.

Speaker 1:

You're always against us.

Speaker 3:

I can do that, I think 18.

Speaker 5:

did you roll the one?

Speaker 2:

no 18 I rolled a five no I didn't roll a one, I rolled a five, shut up all right, uh. Good thing the.

Speaker 3:

DCU was lowered to 17 on that one If it's 18 still I would pass.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so, Monty, you took sealing the runes or balancing.

Speaker 5:

Sealing.

Speaker 2:

You took sealing. Okay, give me an insight, check insight, all right oh, that's actually pretty good for me not that good.

Speaker 3:

It's not your advantage what you get.

Speaker 2:

I rolled a natural one for a seven oh, mores, it's all coming down to you, bud. What did he roll I? I forgot he rolled a 7 for insight and Morris, I'm going to need you to roll me an Arcana check again.

Speaker 4:

Can do?

Speaker 5:

Natural 1 really hurts you doesn't it?

Speaker 4:

I was looking at Bill's score. That wasn't actually 18. Wasn't that like a 23 or something from your reliable talent?

Speaker 1:

Oh shit.

Speaker 3:

I 100% forgot about my reliable talent. Oh shit, I 100% forgot about my reliable talent, so my original fail was not a fail.

Speaker 5:

I mean, can you make my natural 1 turn into a natural 20?

Speaker 2:

I've already moved on with the story. I can't go back.

Speaker 4:

No, that's fine. Sorry, I was just looking it up, but you are correct, it is a 23.

Speaker 3:

Okay, so for Arc. Sorry, I was just looking it up, but you are correct, it is a 23.

Speaker 4:

Ah, Okay, so for Arcana I rolled an 8 plus 9 for a 17.

Speaker 2:

Like I said, the DC has been lowered for this one because all three of you are rolling and that did pass.

Speaker 5:

Oh.

Speaker 3:

Well, if it lowered, it had to pass right Because it was 18. Lowered has to be at most 17.

Speaker 2:

Alright, so Morph yeah.

Speaker 2:

You were able to perfectly balance the energy flow by calibrating the core's energy output, just by maintaining, by controlling the magical fields as they were flowing back and forth through the the core itself. Um, as this was happening, monty uh as he was, as he was doing this you found a way to predict where the magical fields were going to flow, so you could predict the exact timing of the energy pulses and off of that you're able to tell Glenn exactly when to hit that button. And he pushed the button on time.

Speaker 5:

I thought you were going to say that more as you have sex with the captain.

Speaker 2:

I mean, if you once have sex with the captain, I'm not going to stop him, alright. So the core glows this bright blue once again, pulses once and then goes black and it is pitch black in the room. I have dark vision. No, it's pitch black. There's no light whatsoever.

Speaker 2:

You can't see shit mores cast dancing lights alright, yeah, so the room lights up with this purple glow from Moor's dancing lights and the captain breathes a sigh of relief. Sister Anvar relaxes a little bit and Grent is up at the control station hitting some buttons and levers and after a few moments the core powers back up and it's that blue color that you saw when you first entered the room. Is this still?

Speaker 3:

cracking.

Speaker 2:

Uh it, there are some spider webs forming on it, but uh, grant assures you that that is very normal.

Speaker 5:

It's okay, listeners. Disaster has been averted All right, so very normal, it's okay listeners, disaster has been averted, alright.

Speaker 2:

So unless there's anything else you want to do, I'm going to progress the story so we can end it for the night, alright. Okay. So, with the core overloaded, the captain and Sister Annivar go through and check everybody through the crew that are still alive. Nobody seems to be infested with more than one soul other than Mors, and you continue your voyage over to Deadpelt Shadows. Sister Anvar does offer to Mors during the voyage that if she would, that if he would like to meet Sam, that she could make that happen with a spell that she knows while he's sleeping.

Speaker 4:

Ooh, oh, that could be great. I've heard so many good things about her. Is there any risks?

Speaker 2:

No, I mean, you go to sleep, you're going to get a long rest with that, and uh, because Sister Anvar knows what a long rest is and then you wake up.

Speaker 3:

And you never wake up, no risk.

Speaker 4:

I think that's a great idea. I can't imagine a reason not to.

Speaker 5:

Brandon Tate, I'm going to sleep with somebody.

Speaker 2:

Alright, so Sorry, taking notes, okay. So yeah, Sister Anvar takes you to the captain's quarters. Uh, this is day three, so glenn is no longer sleeping in there. Oh, no, you didn't give me a chance to convince him, so glenn is still sleeping there uh, she leads you to the captain's quarters, um, and you lay down on the bed and she places her hand on your forehead For what Forehead? And once you fall asleep, you enter One hand or forehead, forehead.

Speaker 2:

Once you fall asleep you start dreaming of this white room, and inside that white room you start dreaming of this white room, and inside that white room you start. After a few moments you see a six and a half foot tall greenish, brownish skinned half orc walking towards you. Is there anything that Moors would like to say to Sam?

Speaker 4:

Hi, I'm Moors, let's get it done.

Speaker 2:

Oh, you're playing both characters here, bud, yeah, no, it's all good.

Speaker 4:

I wasn't sure if we were going to play it out all the way for, like, ending for the night. Hi, I'm Moors, that's a no-brainer.

Speaker 2:

You're about to have sex with yourself. Is there anything you would like to specifically say to sam, or to sam would like to say to moore's? And then I'm gonna go through the ending.

Speaker 4:

You don't have to have a full conversation or anything but um yeah, I guess sam would say I gotta prepare myself, I wasn't ready.

Speaker 5:

Take your time. This is good. Like what would one body infester say to the other person that they're infesting. Like, given the opportunity, this is good. I like it.

Speaker 2:

It's almost like I put this whole arc here just for this.

Speaker 4:

Almost. So yeah, morris says Hi, I'm Morris, and Morse says Hi, I'm Morse. As Sam comes in, she smiles at him and then she says oh, morse, I've heard so much about you, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. She spreads her arms to give him a big hug, a big spirit hug. You've got such great friends.

Speaker 2:

Okay, Alright, so we are going to end it for the night. But because of this interaction that you've had with Sam, when you awake you get this feeling like you could manifest her if you wanted to. So once per long rest, you're able to change your form as an action from Sam to mores or vice versa, or only one way, yeah, and once per long rest you can manifest an ethereal form of the other person to fight one turn in combat with you as as an extra, an extra body. But that's a bonus action.

Speaker 4:

And the change I wouldn't do in combat. But okay, you said or, or, and and and.

Speaker 5:

So you can switch to the other person and then call back to the other person to do something.

Speaker 3:

Or do the other way. So if he's Mors, the person and then call back to the person to do something. Or do the other way, so call in a Therial version. If he's Mors, he can call in a Therial version of Sam and then use his real action to turn into Sam.

Speaker 5:

So have.

Speaker 3:

Sam fighting next to themselves. You can try that.

Speaker 2:

It's not going to work.

Speaker 3:

Based on rules as written.

Speaker 5:

The best would be turn into Sam and then have morris come back and banish somebody.

Speaker 2:

But whatever um this is fun all right, so I I'm gonna end it, but I'm gonna say, uh, justin, in the next one to two sessions you're going to have to decide who you want to play Like for the rest. Yeah, I'm giving you a heads up so you don't have to make the decision on the fly I'm going to. I'm going to ignore it until it happens.

Speaker 4:

That's not my problem yet that's a dice roll in the future. Okay.

Speaker 5:

This is like you've got the baseball over the fence and you've got the sucker machine.

Speaker 1:

You've got to either suck it up or you don't.

Speaker 2:

Yep. Well, that's where we're going to end it for the night. I hope you all enjoy yourselves. We're really enjoying ourselves here. If you were listening to the earlier part of the conversation or the earlier part of the podcast, you've heard that we're going to do a session zero on another campaign that's coming out. We're going to rebrand ourselves a little bit with. That is when that comes out. So we'll let you all know so you can start following that as well, and hopefully we cannot fuck up the first session this time.

Speaker 3:

We've learned a lot since then. Record the DMs side.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we've learned a lot since then. By we, we, I mean I have learned a lot since then. But make sure you find us on our social medias at facebookcom, slash AD&D story, retweet us on twitter or ex at AD&D story to give us a follow on instagram and instagramcom slash AD&D story. And finally, if you like all the sound effects and music that you've been hearing, make sure you check out sirenscape at sirenscapecom for all your tabletop and RPG needs. I use it for my in-person sessions as well, because it does help set the mood and really puts the characters in the mood. And I believe, maddy, if you want to take us out tonight, God damn it.

Speaker 5:

I can never remember what I was supposed to say.

Speaker 2:

You've been with us for over a year and a half.

Speaker 5:

It seems like it's been nerdy. Is that what it is?

Speaker 2:

Apparently? I guess not, it's been nerdy.

Speaker 5:

Oh, that's what it is. Okay, it's been nerdy. Oh, that's what it is. Okay, it's been nerdy.

Speaker 1:

Good job, thank you you.
