A D&D Story
Episode 83: Oops, We Gave a Goblin Child Drugs and Created a Supervillain
Thank you.
Speaker 2:Anybody have any questions before we start it up.
Speaker 3:Did we make a level?
Speaker 2:Yes, we did make a level, everybody's level, 13. Holy smokes. Welcome to a D&D story. I am Brandon, the Irish Wookiee, and with me today is Bill dnd story.
Speaker 5:I am brandon, the irish wookiee, and with me today is bill. Hello, I'm bill. I play glenn the half elf, rogue spush buckler and brandon hi brandon hello, hey.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I play nines, the high elf monk, who is socially awesome socially awesome and maddie I don't think socially awesome socially awesome is really uh, it's because I can say socially awesome perfectly okay, perfectly, hi everybody.
Speaker 3:Uh, my name is maddie. I play montoya inigo, the arctic tabaxi ranger, a hunter ranger.
Speaker 2:And finally Justin.
Speaker 4:Hi Brandon, Hello, Hi everybody. I'm Justin and I'm playing Sam Mooresbound, the Path of the Storm. Herald Barbarian.
Speaker 2:So I want to say thank you to everybody following us, giving us ideas. It means a lot to us. Make sure you give us a like and a follow on Facebook at facebookcom slash AD&D story. Retweet us on Twitter or ex at add story 2, and make sure you follow us on instagram at instagramcom slash adnd story. Um, we are just about to start up a new campaign here. We're wrapping this up in the next six or seven months or so, and so we're we're getting our new campaign on the line. So look, keep a lookout for that. I'll post it. It is going to be called Oathbreaker, a D&D story, so I'll post it on our social medias. We're going to launch a whole new campaign. It's going to be a separate channel on our actual platforms, so all of our listening platforms, but I will make sure all the links are on our social media so you can find them.
Speaker 3:We're super excited about this go ahead. I say, is the big twist that we're going to promise all this stuff and then break it and not do it? Probably?
Speaker 2:so, okay, I'm really excited about this. Everybody in this podcast is going to be part of it, as well as uh andrew, even me, even you until I kill you off, uh and andrew, the, the, the guy who runs our, our community games. You've heard him once or twice on here. He was on our christmas one shot with uh ryan from run dng, so I'm very excited about it. I put a lot of work into the the lore for it, so come give us a. It's going to be a great time and Andrew's going to be doing a lot of the editing, so we're going to have faster release dates than when I'm doing the editing.
Speaker 6:So we're going to release faster, yeah. The build up will be shorter Climax sooner. So it'll all come out. The whole delivery will just be a whole load full. What's this new?
Speaker 4:sooner, it'll all come out, the whole delivery will be a whole load full.
Speaker 3:What's this new podcast going to be rated?
Speaker 4:M just like this one because of people like you, but we're so immature it doesn't make sense. I've rated M for immature.
Speaker 3:For immature.
Speaker 6:I don't. I'm pretty sure that's what that means this is the commercial rating system.
Speaker 2:I want to take a second to call out Dungeon Draft. They're by Megasplute. They are. It's a fantastic program. I just started using them a couple days ago to build my battle maps for D&D and I gotta tell you it normally takes me 45 minutes an hour to create a battle map for D&D for these guys, because I know they're going to break it, but this allows me to create a map in 5 to 10 minutes. Add lighting features, shadows, line of sight. I mean it's got a lot of cool features into it and you can add, depending on the VTT model or VTT system that you're using, you can add actual dynamic features in the map itself. So if you've got a crystal that's going to explode or or barrels that blow up, that'll all show up in the map itself. So it's really really cool. Give them a check, go check them out. It's called dungeon draft there by mega sploot. They've got a bunch of bunch of software out there, but the one that I'm using is dungeon draft.
Speaker 6:Okay, yeah, I mean if and we can, we can keep jerking it a little bit. Uh, I think it's great um software. I used it on my campaign and I too started off making maps quickly. But you can download additional um asset packs and then you will be right back to spending 45 minutes to an hour making those perfect maps. And yeah, I was using it with Roll20. And you import it into Roll20, it does all the lighting and stuff for you. It puts the sources and casts the shadows, exactly like you set it up in Dungeon Draft. And don't forget about their companion software, wonder Draft, where you can make those awesome world maps.
Speaker 2:Believe it or not, Brandon's not getting paid for this. He just really likes it.
Speaker 5:I think.
Speaker 6:Brandon is paying us for this. It's just really cool software.
Speaker 2:And if you don't know Brandon, he doesn't get this excited about many things, so if he's excited, it's a good product. Go check it out. Don't take my word for it.
Speaker 3:We'd love to show it to you, but you're listening to a podcast, so you just have to hear us talk about how cool it is.
Speaker 6:Yeah, that's not how this medium works.
Speaker 3:I think it's funny their name is Mega Splooge.
Speaker 2:No, it's Sploot, oh Sploot.
Speaker 6:Oh, I thought you were going to say Mega Splooge.
Speaker 1:That's brainless, that's our partnership and they don't want to talk to us anymore.
Speaker 6:No, you know when a dog lays out with all of its the back legs all flared out. Yeah that's where it sploots.
Speaker 4:That's like their whole. Thing.
Speaker 6:They have one of those cute little Japanese dogs.
Speaker 1:Splooting.
Speaker 2:All right, dogs Exploding, alright. So, justin, I know you did the recap last week, but I am going to ask you to do the recap this week, because something significant happened between last week and this week. Bullshit, bullshit.
Speaker 6:Yeah, you got this man. Speak your truth.
Speaker 4:Well, we leveled up, that's probably the biggest thing, really.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's it, that's it. We're moving on the next episode.
Speaker 4:Let's go all right oh, you guys, let's see. Uh. So I started off with me doing the recap for the record. Uh, let's see. As we pulled into town, the port was pretty busy at deadpelt shadows. Uh, we met. Uh, oh we, as we were going into town, we started. We were greeted by a nice guy. I want to pull up the other notes because I think that my notes are leaning on these a little bit more now.
Speaker 4:We, as we pulled in the port, a guy named elder Halric showed up to meet us. He was a big, tall human and as we were talking to him and walking around town, we noticed that there's a lot of stuff about the god, eldath and Selune and stuff to ward off from this guy, malar, who was their opposite. And we get to talk that this whole town is kind of a safe haven for lycanthropes and those who suffer from lycanthropy. Nice, we had a pretty good talk about how to pronounce some fancy words. We got invited to a ball where masks were mandatory and it would symbolize the control over the beast. Within of all these, everyone on the island basically is a lycanthrope. Nobody could use any magic because it would destabilize the wards and the guests are supposed to not reveal who they were, and so, as non-lycanthropes, we got to go shopping and pick our outfits and costumes.
Speaker 4:We learned about the history of the town, which was pretty cool, and then we went to the ball and we greeted, kind of like royalty, and everyone was impressed by us because we're so cool.
Speaker 4:We talked to the leader, who is named Lysandra Moonfall. Morris was interested in talking to her to try to find out about his mother, and Monty was interested to talk about 11 fingered elves, where one of the hands had six fingers, and we learned a little bit of story stuff. I think I'm going to skip over some of that. And then something happened and these runes that were kind of glowing continuously throughout the town, one of them started to flicker and some of the all of the masked people around us started to transform into different, to undergo their transformations, and so we did some stuff to distract them, just to keep them from succumbing to their weaknesses, like going through martial arts routines and just talking them out of it like, hey, man, you don't need to do this right now, it's okay. And then Morse tried to help restore the magic, and he didn't do good at first and eventually we kind of got it figured out.
Speaker 6:And then man, this all happened so fast yeah, there was a lot in a short amount of time okay.
Speaker 4:So then we we found the source of what was disrupting all the magic. It was a crystal, that Glenn pointed out. So Mors went over and he bashed it with his staff and it broke. And then everyone started to come back under their own control, and everyone was that Glenn pointed out. So Mors went over and he bashed it with his staff and it broke. And then everyone started to come back under their own control and everyone was you know woo. That was a fun little adventure for this party, and kind of rejoicing and getting ready to relax and just feel good.
Speaker 4:And then boom, the glass ceiling caves in. A flying goblin comes in and starts shouting at us. He's really mad at Mors and Glenn. And then time freezes and we figure out that it's Cosmes, the little goblin we were supposed to rescue, or trusted somebody else to rescue, or however it shakes out. We adopted him a long time ago.
Speaker 4:So Eldath had frozen time so that she could talk with Mors and she had Sam's spirit with her, and she informs us that Gossam has kind of went through these different timelines and got powers from these different crystal gods, where the crystals were conveying the power of the gods, something to that effect, and we're going to have to go. The party is going to have to go, separate the power from Gosszma, one at a time, until he's within our capability to take down. But Eldith needed either Sam or Mors to be with her to try to maintain the power, to keep the portals open and get the party moving around, to protect everyone from this new threat, gauzma. And so one of them, sam or Mors, would never come back to life and the other one would take over for Mors' place.
Speaker 4:And Mors saw the opportunity to spend some time helping his god and be the greater good, and so he chooses to go with Eldath and Sam takes his place, and he doesn't get to say goodbye to his friends, but he knows that he'll be helping them succeed and save lots of lives. So he's gone. Now it's Sam. Sam does swear an oath to Mors that he's going to try to protect his friends, their friends, and she takes on the name Sam Morsbound in honor of that oath. How cute.
Speaker 2:Awesome, that's great. Oh, and then the party gets sucked into a portal and we level up Awesome.
Speaker 3:Is that the oath that gets broken? There's going to be a broken oath someplace.
Speaker 2:No, that's not this podcast, that's the next one.
Speaker 3:That doesn't matter.
Speaker 2:It's all connected Alright, so continuing on with that, justin. What did Sam take at level 13?
Speaker 4:Oh yeah. So Sam's level 13 feature is called Brutal, critical, brutal, brutal. So whenever I make a critical hit, I get to roll, and I already had to roll an extra dice, so now I get to roll two extra dice whenever I have a critical hit In damages, yeah.
Speaker 2:Nice, that's wild man Two additional dice on crits.
Speaker 4:So big crits is my way to go.
Speaker 6:Yeah, instead of two times the damage on a crit, it's basically three times the damage.
Speaker 2:And because you have great weapons, Master, you only need a 19 for a critical right, Maybe.
Speaker 4:Increased threat range. If I could just get a keen weapon, we'll get that down to 17. All right.
Speaker 2:What about you, Matty? What did Monty take at level 13?
Speaker 3:Well, one thing I didn't know about Rangers because I just don't know anything about D&D is that at level 13, rangers don't get Jack Doodly. I'm assuming I got some HP or something. But what I did find out is I had previously forgotten to give myself two additional spells, so I went ahead and took those. The spells I chose were a fourth level stone skin, which is good Makes me gain resistance to bludgeoning. Piercing slashing damage Could be in handy. I don't know Depends if we're fighting some lightning people or something and another little small third level spell called Revivify.
Speaker 2:Revivify. Can you explain that? What is that?
Speaker 3:It's kind of like Cure Wounds, just a little bit slightly stronger.
Speaker 2:Okay For our players that don't know what it is. Can you explain that? Oh for them.
Speaker 6:It's like a Gatorade on a hot day, it really revivifies you makes you just feel a little better.
Speaker 2:It's like those new. Gatorlights.
Speaker 3:Yeah, or if you have died within the last minute, monty can bring you back to life, nice.
Speaker 6:What if you died of heat stroke?
Speaker 3:Yeah, as long as it's not old age.
Speaker 6:Are you saying, revivify is?
Speaker 3:better than Gatorade? Better than Gatorade If you've died of old age and it doesn't? Oh, that's interesting. It doesn't restore any missing body parts. So, yeah, you might come back without a head.
Speaker 6:What if the body part that you're missing is?
Speaker 3:some of your DNAna yeah, that's not a part of your body. That's not a body part.
Speaker 6:There you go it is a part of your body, not a body part. I bet you don't have any mitochondria, do you? Yeah, you look like the kind of guy who doesn't have mitochondria all right, but I got a toothbrush for all these teeth?
Speaker 3:No.
Speaker 2:Brandon, what did Nines get at level 13?
Speaker 6:Nines actually got the Tongue of the Sun and Moon, and so now Nines can magically speak and understand all spoken languages, and any creature that can understand a language can understand what nines says. So remember those fish people.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 6:Like one of the first episodes I was involved in. Now I can think back to what they said and understand the conversation.
Speaker 2:Hell yeah, all right. And finally, what about Glenn Bill? So, Glenn.
Speaker 5:So it's kind of cool, but anyway. So he got a couple of things. He got a thing called elegant maneuver. So basically as a bonus action he can gain advantage on his next dexterity or strength check. So in other words, if he does acrobatics or athletics, he can think about it for a second and get advantage.
Speaker 2:I'm not going to make you guys climb any walls, you're fine.
Speaker 5:The other thing that nobody else noticed or nobody else talked about is we all got a proficiency improvement. I think we all did. Most of us should have yeah our proficiency is.
Speaker 4:I think we all did.
Speaker 5:Most of us should have yeah, plus five now. Yeah, our proficiency is now plus five, and Glenn also got his sneak. Damage is now 7d6.
Speaker 1:Awesome.
Speaker 6:So the proficiency bonus is just what you add because you've just been doing it for that long, right, you have the experience, and so you always get that plus five on top of whatever your skill modifiers are right. That's pretty cool.
Speaker 4:So your abilities are proficient at your attacks. Your spell attacks saves.
Speaker 6:Yeah, and you have certain skills right that you're proficient with.
Speaker 5:And you get that plus five to those. Glenn's deception persuasion are all plus 14. Slide of hand thieves tools is plus 15.
Speaker 2:Damn, that's a Don't.
Speaker 6:You have something where you can't roll below a 10?.
Speaker 5:Yeah, and none of those can I roll below a 10 on, so I automatically start out with a minimum on sleight of hand of 25. Which is wild.
Speaker 6:Yeah, that's like tricking God. Yeah, there's no apples here. It's like making a promise, but your fingers are crossed behind your back.
Speaker 4:No, I just like to do it in front of your face.
Speaker 5:Your fingers are crossed in front of your face.
Speaker 4:And they don't even notice.
Speaker 5:They're like man, this guy's so honest. I love how trustworthy he is. I promise I won't steal your stuff.
Speaker 2:Okay, could you hold my virgin daughter for me?
Speaker 3:Yeah, with pleasure yeah. With pleasure.
Speaker 5:I don't think she's a virgin anymore.
Speaker 2:I don't think she's a virgin anymore yeah exactly when you die you get 40 virgins. Can I just have like 40 kind of promiscuous women instead? I'd appreciate that.
Speaker 3:Give me like 20 promiscuous women. There's only one promiscuous women.
Speaker 6:There's only one promiscuous girl, nellie Frittata.
Speaker 3:Yes.
Speaker 2:Justin, there is one new ability that Sam does have that you did not talk about.
Speaker 4:Oh yeah, let's see if I wrote it down in here, because I wasn't really taking note. Oh, is this?
Speaker 6:the one where sam can uh remember moore's like. Use a bonus action, I think, to remember moore's fondly yeah you have to make a uh, a reflex, save against crying yeah, that's right, justin has to, not not sam justin has to yeah I called it manifest moreest Mors One time per day or per long rest.
Speaker 4:summon Mors at level 12, and he's present for one round of combat with all of his spells that he knew at level 12. Correct.
Speaker 2:It's like a memory of Mors. It does take an action, though, so as an action. Yeah, I will include that, and his turn is directly after Sam's.
Speaker 3:Sammy, this is what Morris gets for intentionally trying to hurt something. He hit the crystal with the staff and boom, you're done. Passivist yeah right, you're gone.
Speaker 5:Did you even try to talk to it first?
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 6:Such a violation that your god comes down and is like hey, dude, I need you to come with me.
Speaker 5:I think you need to take a break.
Speaker 3:We got some things we need to do you just hit that poor crystal?
Speaker 2:That catapult spell is just way too damn powerful. All right, all right, so, yeah, so I think we got everything squared away here. So all of you get spit out from this portal that sucked you in and you're feeling a little dizzy, a little nauseous. You kind of as the magic kind of releases its grip, you find yourself staggering a little bit and the air around you feels almost alive. You feel like a static electricity against your skin. It's tingling against you, you feel that kind of a humming, that's, and the ground beneath your feet you can feel a soft pulsing and it's radiating shifting patterns of the magic around you.
Speaker 2:You can see that the trees around you there's plenty of trees, there's a canopy of forest around you that you can see through the canopy a little bit, and those leaves are glowing a little bit. They're they're giving off a faint glow. The shadows are a little darker, the the light is a little lighter, all the colors are more vibrant and, as, as you're starting to look around, you can see that this whole area is engulfed in some kind of unnatural storm. You can see lightning coming across the sky and you can see comets of what looks to be almost raw magic streaking across the sky and you can hear them thudding in the distance and you can you describe what the fuck raw magic streaking looks like yeah, it's.
Speaker 2:It would be kind of like a comet, where you'd see it on fire, but instead it looks blue and green and purple as it streaks across the sky.
Speaker 6:Okay, so like a Michael Bay movie during an acid trip.
Speaker 2:Right. Yeah, it's like the Transformers took shrooms.
Speaker 6:Cool, thank you.
Speaker 2:That's actually very helpful.
Speaker 6:I was having difficulty there.
Speaker 2:So the sky itself is kind of a lavender color and you can see that there are floating islands all around you. But as you, as you start looking around even more, some of these islands are starting to crash to the ground, and for I think all of you can cast magic right, some sort of magic some sort of magic I mean, yeah, so for all of you kind of feel like you can feel the magic in the air.
Speaker 2:It's very thick, it's almost a palpable feeling of magic in the air and it's making your movements a little sluggish, your minds are a little foggy and just the entire scene in front of you is overwhelming. So, yeah, we're going to start from there.
Speaker 4:Hey guys Hi.
Speaker 5:Oh, hey, sam.
Speaker 6:No, no, no, that's the other one, this one's Mors Nine says confidently.
Speaker 5:Glenn side-eyes. Nines and then says so I guess Mors is on a break, so you're going to be running with us for a while.
Speaker 4:Oh yeah, sorry, I was just thinking about something in my head. Yeah, I'm going to be here. I'm going to be here, I think forever. Mors has got to the portal we just came through. That's Mors. Oh yeah, I think they stopped time wait what do you mean forever?
Speaker 4:well, so, yeah, do you guys know who Eldath is? Real nice, real nice lady. Yeah, mors is Mors' friend. Yeah, so she found me in the place. Real nice, real nice lady. Oh, yeah, morse's friend. Yeah, so she found me in the place where I'm not here and she took me and she stopped time and we talked to Morse for a minute when that little goblin came through and she's gonna take Morse and help us sever the links between that goblin and take his power from the. He's got gods giving him power or something. I'm not sure I remember the whole explanation exactly, but they're going to take us places and we're going to make Cosmos weaker so we can save everyone. So I'm here.
Speaker 5:So once we're done, then done. Then is Mors coming back.
Speaker 4:I don't know. We didn't talk about that. I didn't get the impression. I don't think so, but maybe I don't know.
Speaker 3:So wait, you're trying to tell me that Mors is gone.
Speaker 4:Yeah, he wanted to say goodbye, but Eldas power. I guess stopping time is hard. He wanted to say goodbye, but Elda's power. I guess stopping time is hard. He wanted to say goodbye.
Speaker 3:Monty's going to get a very solemn look upon his face and I'm going to be exactly sure how to respond next.
Speaker 6:Nines will say Ah, it's not a big deal, We'll see him next time.
Speaker 3:What do you mean next time?
Speaker 6:Oh, just the next time we see him we'll just say bye then. I feel like you're about to tell us what your master sensei once told you oh, uh yes uh one, uh no, I don't think master the lion ever, or Sensei the Lion ever, mentioned anything like this. He never said anything about portals either, so I'm beginning to think that there are some things that he just was not aware of. You know what? Once this is all over, I'll ask him.
Speaker 2:Oh no, Does Nines not understand death he?
Speaker 6:Probably. It's not that he doesn't understand death, it's that he assumes that it's not permanent.
Speaker 2:I mean in this world, that's fair.
Speaker 6:Maybe it's a resurrection thing, you know.
Speaker 2:Okay. So what is going through Glenn's's head right now?
Speaker 5:morris is literally the last original companion that he had so glenn is still trying to piece together the, the uh spotty recollection that that sam is given, um, and he's kind of confused at how the god just kind of did the swaparoo and doesn't really he's kind of thinking about well, I mean, mors disappeared before and Sam didn't really understand or know that she was swapped out with Mors, know that she was swapped out with Mors, so he's probably running through his mind how to spin it in his head that this is just temporary. Yeah.
Speaker 3:I think Monty's kind of in the same place too. He's like well, Sam has never acknowledged that Mors was there and going to come back, so this isn't necessarily a big shock to him. I don't think Monty has quite realized yet that Mors was there and going to come back, so this isn't necessarily a big shock to him. Okay, I don't think Monty has quite realized yet that Mors is gone.
Speaker 5:Yeah, I don't think Glenn understands it either, because he's somewhere between I mean because the whole yes, mors has been with this party the longest. But if you actually think about Glenn's life, he was alive for 18 years before that and people were coming and going all the time. But he did have somewhat of a connection to Mors and Mors was actually a calming influence, so to speak, on Glenn. Oh, shit.
Speaker 2:What we've seen with Glenn for the last five years is with Morse calming him.
Speaker 6:Yes, I can't wait to see Glenn unleashed.
Speaker 5:Glenn unhinged, so he's kind of well, we'll figure this out. Glenn is gonna kind of well, I guess we'll just go. I mean, it seems like killing some gods sounds fun.
Speaker 6:I think Glenn is confused because he's never had a feeling before.
Speaker 2:Glenn, like Bill, only has two emotions.
Speaker 5:Anger and lack of anger. Yes, yes, anger and lack of anger.
Speaker 4:Yes, so Sam you do feel itching on your left forearm.
Speaker 2:Go ahead, I look at it and scratch it, all right. So as you look at it, you see a tattoo being inscribed on your left forearm and it shows moors in a grass. It's a black and white. It shows moors in a grass. It's a black and white, it shows moors in a grass field and he's looking around and it's a dynamic tattoo, moving kind of fluidly across your forearm. And as he's looking around, you see bean sprout pop up behind him and kind of climb up on his shoulder and they're just looking happily at each other. They look very content I was.
Speaker 3:I was gonna say, please let this be a maui tattoo.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's got a feeling. I'm sorry you're about to say in a grass skirt no, no, no, it's like all right, but the the tattoo is obviously enchanted. It's he's. Moores and beansprout are playing. They're looking around on your forearm and as they notice you looking down at them, moors looks up at you and you can see his mouth move. You can't hear anything and he waves at you happily.
Speaker 3:It is a big Maui tattoo. That's cool. I like it.
Speaker 4:Guys, look, can you see this? And she'll hold her arm out to you.
Speaker 2:Can you see this and?
Speaker 3:she'll hold her arm out to you. Look at, yeah, everybody else can see it.
Speaker 4:And he's waving look.
Speaker 6:Hi Morris, yeah Nines is completely vindicated.
Speaker 3:Waves back at the tattoo. Monty will like get finger guns at the tattoo and see what happens.
Speaker 2:Morris looks happily around everybody. He's not responding. You can tell after a few seconds that it's not. It's a dynamic tattoo. He's moving around. It shows more isn't being scrubbing happy, but it's not. It doesn't react to everybody around it doesn't get finger guns back.
Speaker 3:Okay, it's just an illusion that nines doesn't know that.
Speaker 6:Hey, you still owe me that 40 gold, right? Alright, I'll see you later.
Speaker 5:So, um, glenn Going through Glenn's mind is like I guess this is how they're gonna track who they are. I don't know, it's kind of weird Shit pops up on us all the time, like two other people have gotten tattoos in the past ten minutes.
Speaker 3:Fair. It's been like an hour.
Speaker 5:Okay, whatever, but yeah. So Glenn is kind of not really sure what's going on, but he's pretty confident that it'll end up getting. He'll come back, it's fine.
Speaker 3:Monty's going to clue into something else that Sam said and say you mentioned the name Gossmiss. What do you mean? Who's this Gossmiss character?
Speaker 5:I don't know, you know, I know who Gossmiss is.
Speaker 3:So this one time we were riding some something oh yeah, I know, I know before that we wrote these, these really fast things.
Speaker 5:I can't remember what they were because it was like three years ago, four years ago. We rode something, and then we rode the skiffs. Or maybe it was the other way around.
Speaker 4:Anyway, To the way around. We rode the scorpions away from there, but the skiffs we rode to there.
Speaker 5:Okay, yeah, that makes sense All right. So we were going to somewhere and we got captured. I think we were, oh, we got knocked unconscious. That's the puffer rune story. So we met that druid that you met a couple of days ago, and she drugged us oh yeah that one not her, she was, and so she drugged us and we woke up on a skiff and were taken to a arena dome thing.
Speaker 3:And yeah, we were the skiff took you to the scorpion king palace wasn't that the nope.
Speaker 2:You guys went to a dome first you escaped.
Speaker 5:We went to a dome we escaped from the dome and while we were looking around to get our shit, we found Goss, man.
Speaker 3:Oh, yes, yes, yes, okay, got it, okay Don't ruin Glenn's storytelling. This is Bill's storytelling. No, but you're good. Go ahead, glenn, do continue, you're doing great.
Speaker 5:So we rode this skiff thingy in a cage and they took us to this arena thing and oh, there's this funny story.
Speaker 5:Well, I'll get to that in a minute. Um, so we got to that dome and when we were in the dome, um, we were questioned by this possessed thingy that asked where somebody was, and when morse gets asked a question, he of course answers the question. So he told him exactly where this guy was that he was looking for, and when he told him, the god demon thingy that was possessing this guy or gal, I don't remember left and deflated and then we proceeded to trounce upon these people and then, on our way out, we also found Gosmas, who was a little goblin kid, and we rescued him and then we gave him some drugs so that he could pilot a skiff to get us out of there. And then, when he got us to where we were going, we told him hang out on the skiff, we'll be right out. We cracked the window so he should have been safe, and we went in and did our thing and when we came out he was gone.
Speaker 6:Are these the sorts of fucking lighthearted adventures you guys had before I got here?
Speaker 2:Well, yeah, this was.
Speaker 6:Are you in the wrong part of town and like the kid that you stole gets re-stolen Like some sort of magical baby.
Speaker 3:He hasn't mentioned that. They left a dead body on the skiff with the kid.
Speaker 4:Yeah, brutus was there to watch him we were gonna try to bring him back we had a plan you got swallowed by a big pink worm, not our fault yeah, you guys are so lucky.
Speaker 6:Nines is here.
Speaker 1:Be the moral compass.
Speaker 4:Be, your moral compass. It's going downhill.
Speaker 5:I'll take care of the moral decisions I got this.
Speaker 1:That was such a long time ago, so I'm not sure why Gossman is mad.
Speaker 5:I mean we gave him drugs. Hang on a minute. Yeah, I think you just told Gossman is mad, I mean we gave him drugs.
Speaker 6:Hang on a minute. Yeah, I think you just told us why he's mad.
Speaker 3:You gave him drugs and left him there, you gave him drugs.
Speaker 6:He seemed really happy when we gave him the drugs, Left him in the car, in a hot car probably.
Speaker 5:We cracked the window.
Speaker 2:With a dead body.
Speaker 1:We were on a break.
Speaker 6:Yeah, so maybe he's mad at you for being shitty caretakers.
Speaker 5:We rescuers, not caretakers. So I mean, what about this?
Speaker 6:group.
Speaker 5:Glenn's looking around. What about my prior group? Would lead you to believe that we were in any way caretakers, not mentioning the fact that one of them, ran an orphanage and other ones, but you guys don't know that. Well, monty does.
Speaker 2:But one of you ran an orphanage. One of you came from an orphanage.
Speaker 4:That same orphanage.
Speaker 5:Two of you Weren't Mors and Monty, from the orphanage. Monty didn't come from the orphanage.
Speaker 4:He had visited at one point, for some reason, oh yeah.
Speaker 6:Okay, so Anyway.
Speaker 5:More pressing though is this so we sent somebody to rescue Gossmez Said they were going to rescue him. Apparently they failed.
Speaker 4:I thought she was like a reliable character too. We reasonably thought Gossmez would be rescued.
Speaker 5:Yeah, so we sent a rescue party for him. I mean, we rescued him one time but we had to go chase down some gods and stuff. So, and you know, things happen.
Speaker 6:When you're coming home, son, I don't know when we'll get together then Dad, you know we're having a good time man. Yeah, I think I see the,000 years to save the world, and we did.
Speaker 5:You know world exists, we obviously saved it. So, yeah, I think we did our job. There's one kid and you know we set the rescue party for him. Honestly, I didn't really know that he was still alive.
Speaker 6:He still existed in this timeline.
Speaker 3:It sounds like you're trying to convince us you're not at fault oh no, I don't really care so just for context, I was looking back, this is this was like episode 10 yeah, this is episode 10 yeah, for the record, gosmez was always planned to be the BBEG.
Speaker 2:What Always planned, anyway. So Always planned after the players saved him instead of letting me kill him.
Speaker 3:Oh, alright, touche.
Speaker 5:So we got set back in time. So I think we got. I think we're good. Took care of the world, all right. Touche. So we got to sit back in time. So I think we got it. I think we're good. Took care of the world. One kid Now we got to go kill some gods to depower Gosmez. Yeah, it's all good. All right, sounds like fun, let's do this?
Speaker 6:Yeah, more pressing. Where are we?
Speaker 3:I don't. I believe, glenn.
Speaker 5:It seems like you should have taken care of this small goblin when you had a chance Way back when you know, you mean you killed it, you know.
Speaker 3:I could have grabbed a snake and stuck a fang in him. It seems like maybe killing this evil being would have been the better solution in allowing him to live. And now you clearly saw him before we got transported over here. He does not seem like somebody he didn't really look like that.
Speaker 5:When I saw him last he was a little a little goblin kid and glenn holds his hands about. You know, seven, eight inches apart, little goblinlin kid, he was totally safe.
Speaker 2:So, as you guys are sitting there talking about this, you hear a large lightning crack and it hits somewhere close to you and I guess you would hear the thunder, not the lightning, because I saw your face, bill.
Speaker 6:So you yeah, you hear lightning. That is the sound that it makes Thunder.
Speaker 2:Yeah. So you hear the lightning strike close to you in an open area and you hear somebody a short scream and then it cuts off and you start smelling like a metallic burning.
Speaker 6:Ozone. How do we know? It's a short who screamed.
Speaker 2:It sounded a little higher pitch than normal.
Speaker 6:That sounds like a diminutive person.
Speaker 2:What would you all like to do?
Speaker 5:First off Glenn has two heads.
Speaker 3:What? Oh, you're talking about my call.
Speaker 5:Okay, I'm sorry, um. So where? How far away did it sound?
Speaker 2:uh, it's pretty close it's pretty close and because you can smell it I'm pretty because you can smell it immediately um, you can tell that it's just up ahead.
Speaker 5:How many seconds between the flash and the thunder?
Speaker 2:Immediate there was no delay, did you say smell it. Yeah, the ozone.
Speaker 5:He described it.
Speaker 6:I did. You're saying that it's close enough to smell?
Speaker 5:Yes, Okay, all right. So Glenn reaches up and touches his hair to make sure it's not standing up.
Speaker 2:Your hair is not standing up, but all of Monty's fur is puffed. It's poofed out.
Speaker 3:Yeah, what do I see? Do I perceive a threat in the area?
Speaker 2:You do not perceive a threat in the immediate area.
Speaker 5:So what do I see around me? Don't forget.
Speaker 2:I have dark vision, so what do I?
Speaker 5:see around me, don't forget, I have darkvision.
Speaker 3:Yes, I know, oh hey, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Yep, please go ahead. I have darkvision too.
Speaker 2:Anybody else have darkvision?
Speaker 6:Yes, I haven't read my character sheet.
Speaker 2:Oh okay, that's fine, we'll just make an assumption that you do have darkvision as an elf.
Speaker 5:We'll just make an assumption that you do have dark vision as an elf. Okay, okay, so what do we see? All right, since we all have dark vision Around you.
Speaker 2:You see it is daylight. You see a bunch of trees around you, but you do see a column of smoke rising above the trees not too far away in the northern direction.
Speaker 1:Yeah, let's go.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm saying northern not because you all have a compass, just so the players have a sense. Northern direction yeah, let's go. I'm saying northern not because you all have a compass, just so the players have a sense of direction.
Speaker 5:So we're in this area comprised of trees, so Glenn looks at Monty. Hey, any idea where we're at?
Speaker 3:I believe we're in a forest.
Speaker 1:You are in fact're in a forest.
Speaker 2:You are in fact in a forest. It's almost like this one was set up to be in a forest, because I've gotten that question every fucking episode for the last 12.
Speaker 3:I mean, you could put it into an arctic land or grasslands as well, and it would do the same thing. I believe we are in a forest, but maybe we should head towards that smoke. I have no idea where we're at and nowhere to go, but that is the only thing that's been pointed out so far, so let's head towards it.
Speaker 5:Does any of this look familiar?
Speaker 3:Does Monty recognize any of this forest that he finds himself in?
Speaker 2:No, around you, you do see a few cherry blossoms that you've never seen before, and they're completely confused. Like you have no idea. You've never seen anything like this before.
Speaker 3:I'm gonna roll a perception and get a 12 and no, I don't recognize. No, I do not recognize any of this.
Speaker 6:Unfortunately this theme is all too familiar, where there is a literal call for help and we are discussing the minutia.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 5:It didn't sound like a call for help. It sounded like somebody just gave a lightning and I don't think anyone's going to help them. If they get hit by lightning, they're done.
Speaker 2:You hear a faint?
Speaker 5:HELP.
Speaker 2:There you go.
Speaker 3:Done? What direction is the help from?
Speaker 6:I'm still alive. The same direction as the smoke and the smell it's north.
Speaker 2:Guys, I can't spell this out anymore, for you all.
Speaker 3:I'm going to roll my perception at advantage and get a 22 and back. Hey guys, Did you hear that call from help? It came from that direction. We should probably go that way and Monty will start heading.
Speaker 4:Hold on, let me do a survival check to see which way is north. Oh my god, okay, we go that way. As soon as Monty starts going that way, sam is, I want to intuit which way is north.
Speaker 6:Can I roll insight?
Speaker 4:Only if you pay for turboTax.
Speaker 2:This podcast is the reason I drink.
Speaker 5:Yeah, right Alright so we're heading north.
Speaker 2:So we're heading north, so as you start. Okay, roll me a self-check.
Speaker 5:Oh, okay, I'm at an advantage.
Speaker 6:Are you always at advantage?
Speaker 2:Yeah, I have my cloak oh right wouldn't that be at 25 because below 10, so it's automatically a 10 plus the no, no, no, no, no. The first time, all right yeah, so 24 got it all right. Yeah, you successfully hide in the trees around you, the shadows of the trees and the bushes, and you melt into the foliage around you. That's the word I was looking for.
Speaker 5:I will sneak forward to try to figure out what's going on.
Speaker 2:Alright. So as you all step closer or step further north, you kind of get an acrid scent of charred flesh and it's stinging your nostrils. You can also smell a metallic tang that some of you have already identified as a lightning strike. Close by Smells like Sex Panther. Smells like Sex Panther Works 40% of the time. Every time Smells like sex Works 40% of the time, every time, as much as he's traveling?
Speaker 3:do we see any tracks, footprints, anything?
Speaker 2:like that to give us an idea of what's in the area. You're on a well-worn path right now everybody with the exception of Glenn and so it's well-troddenden. You don't see any distinct footprints, but you know that people travel on this path pretty often. So after about two minutes of walking you see two grotesque figures. You see two corpses lying in front of you. They're blackened and brittle and it looks like they were scorched by a very hot fire and they're beyond recognition. So you see wisps of smoke kind of curling up from the bodies and you can see trailing hints of violet and silver sparks coming up from the bodies and every couple seconds you hear a small bang or a flash and you can see magic it looks like pure magic coming off the bodies and striking the ground around it.
Speaker 3:Monty searches the bodies. Is there anything to uncover? It's a chart. Remains, it's just a pile. Monty searches the bodies. Is there anything to uncover? It's a chart remains.
Speaker 2:It's just a pile, all right, no. So, monty, when you get about five feet from it, you feel a strong, like a heavy feeling in the air, and this strong sense comes about. You Give me a DC intelligence saving throw. Give me an intelligence saving throw.
Speaker 5:Give me an intelligence saving throw Intelligence saving throw A DC, something you don't know intelligence saving throw.
Speaker 3:Yes, I got a 15.
Speaker 2:Okay. So, monty, you're overwhelmed by the magic in the area and your head starts pounding and you feel a sharp pain, start from behind your right eye, and it shoots through your entire body as you fall backwards, away from these bodies, and you are going to take a nap. A big old nap. You're going to take seven points of damage.
Speaker 3:Thanks Glenn for rolling seven damage against me.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, I am on Glenn's.
Speaker 4:I am on Glenn's you got him.
Speaker 2:Okay, sorry, I actually should just get my Colosseum out.
Speaker 5:Brandon, you told me that was a secret.
Speaker 2:I said Gossmez was the BBG. It's been Glenn all along. That's the reason he survived.
Speaker 3:Was this any chance created by a magical plant?
Speaker 2:It was not created by a magical plant. No Good question.
Speaker 3:It's a very pointed question. Okay, I take seven points of damage. What did I find on the bodies then?
Speaker 2:You couldn't get close enough.
Speaker 5:You fell down.
Speaker 2:So each of you roll me an arcana check.
Speaker 6:Easy, I roll.
Speaker 3:Oh, I won this one, guys. I got an 8.
Speaker 6:I got a 12.
Speaker 5:I got a 16.
Speaker 3:Is there a wall to climb someplace? There's not a wall.
Speaker 6:Am I acrobatics my way through this? All right.
Speaker 2:Oh, Justin, you do get inspiration for the night. I apologize. I didn't tell you that. So, Glenn, you, after looking through the pattern, or looking at the pattern of magic, you start to sense a certain rhythm to the magical cracks and you're able to work your way through those cracks and get to the bodies to search them if you'd like.
Speaker 5:Okay, I will search them. Okay, so sorry, as I'm searching that I'm looking for any. I know you said there are burned beyond recognition, but do I see anything Like? Can I tell what said they're burned beyond recognition, but do I see anything Like? Can I tell what race they are or if they're like an elf, wizard or no, they are burned beyond recognition. Okay, well, I'm not from here. I wouldn't recognize them anyway.
Speaker 2:But you do find on the bodies in two bags that seem to have protected it from the lightning strike. You find a potion of mind reading and a spell scroll of programmed illusion.
Speaker 5:Okay.
Speaker 6:Chekhov's spell scroll.
Speaker 5:Chekhov's spell scroll Okay, anything else. Nope, that's it, are you Okay? Okay, anything else.
Speaker 2:Nope, that's it.
Speaker 5:How long does a potion of mind reading last? Oh, you don't know, off the top of your head.
Speaker 2:No.
Speaker 3:I don't, that's fine. What kind of dungeon master are you?
Speaker 2:I know.
Speaker 3:You don't have all the rules memorized.
Speaker 2:No and items One minute. It gives you the effect of detect thoughts for one minute.
Speaker 5:Ten minutes. I'm sorry, it says ten, I just was adding it. Maybe it changed from one minute to ten minutes. It added ten minutes. It multiplied it by ten when it was transformed from 2014 to 2024. Okay, doesn't matter.
Speaker 1:It multiplied it by 10 when it was transformed from 2014 to 2024?
Speaker 5:Uh, okay.
Speaker 1:Doesn't matter.
Speaker 5:You gave me a piece of what's that you gave me a piece of. You gave me something. You gave me a magic item. I'll never use it.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I know you won't, Monty stands up.
Speaker 2:Wonderful Okay.
Speaker 5:Anything else to notice? As I was sneaking through the woods and looking around, did I see anything?
Speaker 2:You did. You actually saw the ruins of what looked like a once gorgeous temple, lying to the west of this little clearing, and you can see a couple glass windows that were shattered and, yeah, so you can see that to the west of where you are currently. Okay, so Glenn will sneak that to the west of where you are currently.
Speaker 5:Okay, so Glenn will sneak through the not sneak, well, he'll wiggle through the cracks again and well shit, there's nobody to give him a scroll to anyway, so he'll just keep that, I guess. So you all notice Glenn. Well, except for Monty, everybody notices Glenn kind of coming away from the bodies putting something in his pouch. He's a little distracted, so he's not hiding his activities as well as he normally does. And then he will walk over to Monty and as he's trying to help Monty up, he will say that I'm not sure about these bodies. I assume that lightning strike hit them, because you know there's lightning strike, they're smoldering, but there's also, over that way is a temple that seems damaged or ruins, seems old. I don't know if that will help us to get our bearings. Maybe we can find some documents or something to figure out where we are and what's going on it might be here.
Speaker 5:I'm sorry I'm taking over.
Speaker 3:I apologize, kid, go ahead I said Monty will accept kind of Glenn's outstretched arm to help him up and say, yes, I don't know about those bodies, but I'm definitely going to stay away from them. Uh, shall we head to this cathedral, you see, and now point towards it are we at the smoke that we saw, or are we?
Speaker 4:is that still further to the north?
Speaker 2:no, that is the smoke that you saw yeah, coming from the, the lightning strike body.
Speaker 6:Are the lightning strikes directed towards, like? Do we learn anything about the patterns or anything, is it? I feel like all we're getting from this area is these two things and we should move on, but I'm not really satisfied with that that's that's correct.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the arcana check didn't pass the the dc uh, yeah, yeah okay, yep understood so 16 wasn't high enough.
Speaker 5:No, okay, so glenn, okay. So for clarification real quick. Did we actually hear a voice saying help me?
Speaker 2:or was that? No, that was totally a joke.
Speaker 5:Okay, because that would definitely flavor the way Glenn goes to check out the temple.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I was surprised that they were completely dead. I thought they were.
Speaker 2:No, I was completely joking.
Speaker 5:Okay, so Glenn looks at Sam.
Speaker 4:Sam looks back.
Speaker 5:What are? Your thoughts Awkward.
Speaker 4:I mean, yeah, they look pretty dead, Could have been lightning.
Speaker 5:I meant about the ruins. Did you want to go check out the ruins?
Speaker 4:Oh yeah, I'm looking every direction.
Speaker 6:Sounds good. Nines, uh thinks that ruins would be fun to acrobatics on.
Speaker 2:And so he's all about it. So, as you guys are talking, another lightning strikes between Monty and Nines and both of you feel an electric charge shoot up your through your legs. It an electric charge shoot up through your legs. It doesn't hurt you, but you can feel that electric tingle as the current goes through the ground.
Speaker 3:Do we hear a scream for help?
Speaker 2:No, you do not.
Speaker 6:Nines will suggest that we vacate the area.
Speaker 4:Maybe some shelter.
Speaker 5:So Glen will dart ahead and stealthily go towards the ruins.
Speaker 3:Okay, yeah, Monty wants nothing to do with this area that he finds himself in. He just got zapped by a couple of dead bodies and now lightning next to him.
Speaker 6:He's heading away and probably towards it Like Nines isn't too scared of magical lightning.
Speaker 5:So are the bags anything important.
Speaker 2:No, they were just. They just protected them from the bags, protected the items you found from the lightning strike.
Speaker 5:Will they protect it again?
Speaker 2:If you get fried, yeah, the items inside of it will be fine.
Speaker 5:Okay, glenn is going to put all of his stuff into these bags.
Speaker 2:Yeah, definitely not big enough for that.
Speaker 5:He's going to use the one that has the potion in it like a condom Got it.
Speaker 2:Glenn dies, but his dick is fine.
Speaker 5:Then he doesn't die.
Speaker 6:Glenn lives on in this necklace that I fashioned out of his unfried cock.
Speaker 4:Is that their talon? They called him a dickhead.
Speaker 1:Sam wears it as like a unicorn.
Speaker 3:That's a weird turn. We're heading towards this temple.
Speaker 2:So you guys see a. It looks like it was a once gorgeous cathedral. It's lying in complete ruin now. You can see some stained glass windows that are shattered and around the temple itself you can see some waters that are bubbling um, and it looks like some magics coming out of those waters themselves, and you can see a stone carving of what looks to be a green dragon on top of it. You can roll a religion check at advantage if you'd like. Who can? Glenn can roll it at advantage. The rest of you can roll it. Roll a religion check if you would like At regular, at regular.
Speaker 4:I got a natural one minus one.
Speaker 2:I'm not even sure religion exists.
Speaker 6:We're climbing some walls here tonight, nines is actually pretty proficient with religion, being a monk as he is, and so with a plus seven I got twenty.
Speaker 5:Okay, glenn got an 11.
Speaker 2:All right. So, nines, you know that this is the carving in front of you shows a green dragon, but it also shows a woman fighting this green dragon, and you can tell by just the drawing itself. I keep calling it a drawing. It's this depiction that it is a depiction of Mistra.
Speaker 6:You said fighting with an F and not biting with a B, right Correct, because that would be awesome. If this chick was biting this dragon, that would be pretty sick.
Speaker 2:Yes, you recognize the depiction of Mystra. She's one of the greater goddesses of the Faroonian pantheon. She's known as the goddess of magic or the mother of all magic, and she from the lore that you know. You know that she sacrificed herself to save the weave itself.
Speaker 6:so the magic weave to save what the weave the magic in Faerun is known as the weave. So Mistra sacrificed herself to save the weave, correct? Did she sacrifice herself to save the weave, correct? Did she sacrifice herself to this dragon? Is that what's being depicted?
Speaker 2:Yes, or is this just a different celebration of a? No, she sacrificed herself to this dragon, and so her followers in this area were this dragon you don't recognize. You just know that it is depicted as a green dragon, and you know that Mist is depicted as a green dragon.
Speaker 6:And, uh, you know that mistra sacrificed herself to this dragon, along many others nice, uh, yeah, and so we'll obviously relay this information to the rest of the party. You're saying, mistra, with an m m?
Speaker 2:y s t r a m is in mansi, correct.
Speaker 6:Okay, I actually played that module series. That's fun.
Speaker 5:The time of troubles S-T-R-A M as in Mansi. Correct, okay, I actually played that module series.
Speaker 2:That was fun the Time of Troubles? Yes, it is fun. So anything else you guys want to talk about before you go in there? Temple.
Speaker 5:Are you going to share this information?
Speaker 6:Yes, if you had been paying attention, I did already say that.
Speaker 5:That's true, yeah, but this is Nines. How are you sharing this information?
Speaker 6:As directly as he knows how. And then, yes, I don't know that there's anything that we've learned thus far that would prevent us from moving towards the temple. So continuing in that vein.
Speaker 2:Bill, do you want to look in your big book of religion?
Speaker 5:I do.
Speaker 2:Okay, Mistra is on page two.
Speaker 5:With Saloon.
Speaker 2:Yes, no, saloon's not on page two. Yeah, Damn it, mistra's on page three.
Speaker 6:If only you had some sort of crazy system for pages. Look at my character sheet Bill was bluffing.
Speaker 3:You should have called him on it, damn it.
Speaker 5:Look at my character sheet Every single time you tell me the page, I write it down or I type it in All of the gods that you've given me so far are listed here.
Speaker 2:I did when in the character sheet.
Speaker 3:Is it? Is it in the?
Speaker 5:notes. It's in my inventory.
Speaker 2:All right, so you see that Mystra is known by a few titles. She's known as Lady of Magic, the Mother of Mystery. She's known as, uh, lady of magic, the mother of mystery, lady of spells, the mistress of magic, goddess of magic and one true spell, one of, to name a few of her names. Um, she is. She is known, she. She typically comes to the, the mortal plane, as a beautiful peasant girl who was just beginning her studies of the art and uh, so that's what she shows herself as to most of her followers, and but as a goddess.
Speaker 2:Mistra could change her shape at will. Mortals saw her. Mortals who saw her reported that she changed constantly, almost like she was bored with the shape that she was currently in. Others described her appearing in the form of a multicolored will-o'-wisp.
Speaker 2:When Misha revealed herself just before the gods were forced to walk the land of Tor-El, she was at first just a dark figure surrounded by an aura of blue-white light. As she created the pendant of magic that held most of her power, the glow revealed her face to be a beautiful, willful young woman. She's known as a good god, though she does have an attitude and a temper, especially for those that abuse magic to hurt others, and she's known to be kind of full of herself. She's very pretentious, is the word I'm looking for Mishra herself, though she doesn't engage in battle very often, when she was seen in battle she could cast any spell that is known to a mortal at any level uh, both an offensive and defensive spell once per turn, with the exception of the spell wish that that spell could only be cast by itself once per minute by mistra okay.
Speaker 5:So glenn will um relate some of this. He'll flavor it up a little bit, but he'll say that, yeah, sorry, all my drawings of Mystra have all are all after she was replaced or took over the body of that girl mid something or another. So I apologize for not recognizing this, but if this is a temple to Mystra, that means it's a magic temple, and if it's Mr Sacrifice, we may be in trouble because it seems like magic is going wacko. Go ahead, nines.
Speaker 6:Is any of that information actually relevant, or is this just how Bill makes you dance? No, it's in his book no, I just mean, like this whole explanation of Mistra, is this information that we need as characters? Possibly yes, some of it is at least. I'm just wondering if this is like relevant information rather than flavor text no, so Bill has a.
Speaker 2:Well, glenn has a book of religious deities, yeah, and.
Speaker 5:I know about that, I just so one of the things about Mistra where in your inventory? I can't find it it's in the other items at the bottom of Troubles, and when she sacrificed herself, the weave went wild and similar like magic went crazy, just like magic seems to be doing here. So it might be information that we want to have, knowing that magic might not be as reliable as we think it is. May be relevant, may not be relevant, I don't know. It's Brandon's story. Sort of it's our story, but Brandon is the Captain.
Speaker 3:Puppet Master.
Speaker 6:Oh, Captain, my Captain.
Speaker 5:Oh, Captain, my Puppet Master, but anyway so it may or may not be relevant, but isn't D&D all flavor text, flavor text, with a couple of dice rolls? Hopefully no, anyway. So we'll go navigate in, checking for dangerous areas or traps or whatever.
Speaker 2:All right. So as you all pass the entrance of this giant temple, you start to hear what sounds like squabbling inside, and you can hear three distinctive voices. So where is it? There it is.
Speaker 3:One that says the other one lies, one that says the other one tells the truth and one that says that I never lie, fucking riddles.
Speaker 2:None of them say they're liars. Alright. So yeah, you can hear three distinct voices inside, and you can also see the outline of what looks like a dragon skeleton which is curled up around the ruins itself and on top of what looks like burnt metal and I feel like this is the result of a fight long ago.
Speaker 2:Yes, nothing here is. Everything here looks like it's kind of been torn apart long ago. But as you get further inside the temple you start to see a blue light kind of pulsing, and as you get closer you can. You see three individuals. You see a, a tiefling, a drow and a half-elf all arguing around a blue crystal that's floating about two feet off the ground.
Speaker 1:How big is the?
Speaker 2:crystal, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1:Go ahead.
Speaker 2:The crystal itself. Oh, how big is the crystal. I'm sorry.
Speaker 6:Go ahead the crystal itself.
Speaker 2:Oh, how big is the crystal? Yeah, the crystal is about eight inches long.
Speaker 3:That's so tiny.
Speaker 2:That's no less average. Eight inches is definitely average for a crystal. Yeah, eight inches is tiny Fuck.
Speaker 3:Where are they in our latest? No, we need to talk about this um fuck, where are they?
Speaker 1:no?
Speaker 4:we need to talk about this come on eight inches average guys yeah, so they're all we're moving, moving on.
Speaker 3:So where's the uh, where's the crystal in relation to, and the elves in relation to this dragon skeleton?
Speaker 2:now the dragon skeleton is what you would call north of the temple or north inside the temple itself, and the three individuals are around. So the crystal is 20 feet south of that dragon and then the three individuals are around the dragon in a triangle shape, kind of just yelling across the crystal at one another.
Speaker 3:And where are?
Speaker 2:we? You are all to the northeast, so I'm going to start this session and invite you all across the crystal at one another. And where are we? You are all to the northeast, so I'm going to start this session and invite you all. You get a mat.
Speaker 5:So is it a crystal or just a regular crystal?
Speaker 2:From where you are right now, you can't tell.
Speaker 5:But I have night vision.
Speaker 2:I know you have night vision Night vision.
Speaker 6:No, he's wearing goggles now. Yeah, he's setting his apertures and changing the image intensification Weird.
Speaker 2:Alright. So as you all enter the temple, you see three individuals argue. You hear and see three individuals arguing and each of them are wearing long robes, they have staffs and you can tell by looking at them there's some sort of magic-based class. So in front of you you see a tiefling.
Speaker 6:That's exactly how I think in real life.
Speaker 2:Yeah, if they've got a staff, they're a magic base class.
Speaker 3:No, I just judge people by their appearance.
Speaker 6:Yeah, perfect. And you know I try to guess their class, yeah.
Speaker 2:So you see a At first, you see a tiefling, and he's saying this crystal is power incarnate. It belongs to me. You simpletons lack the vision to wield it. I could reshape the world with this, tear down the weak and build a realm where strength rules supreme. Hand it over or I'll take it for my own. In response, a, a drow, says enough of this posturing from you. This crystal isn't a toy for your petty schemes. It's a dangerous artifact. Its power is too volatile to be controlled by any single individual. We should seal it away somewhere. No one can reach it, including us. And then, with, with a laugh, the third individual says seal it away. Where's the fun in that? You want to lock it up just because you're too scared to see what it can do? This thing could break the rules of reality. Imagine the possibilities, what we can do with it. Sure, it might destroy us all, but what's magic without a little risk?
Speaker 6:I'm just going to sit down and eat a snack.
Speaker 2:This is entertaining. This is entertaining, and so you can see that they're. You can see magic start arcing from the staffs themselves, as if each of them are about to go to blows with one another. Oh Monty, what are you doing?
Speaker 3:I'm figuring out where to go next.
Speaker 2:Oh, okay, I'll go right there. Just on the crystal itself. Alright.
Speaker 3:Monty moves in, moves closer.
Speaker 2:Alright, so I'm going to say each of you has a round before they see you. So is there anything you would all like to do?
Speaker 5:Glenn is going to throw a dagger at the crystal.
Speaker 2:Well, I was going to say let's roll, and then we'll take turns doing stuff yeah.
Speaker 6:So roll for some initiative. Oh yeah, let's, uh, let's do that, let's do that. Oh, we got me some plus five initiative hell yeah, natural 20, 25.
Speaker 4:nice, it's a 18 for sam 24 for Glenn. I only have a plus 9. I only have a plus 1.
Speaker 6:Here present A key you got a natural 20 for 25. Indubitably so, I go first.
Speaker 2:It's me. What did Monty?
Speaker 6:get.
Speaker 3:I got an 18. I was waiting. I didn't want to interrupt, so yeah, sam's 18 is way worse than my 18. That is true.
Speaker 4:It's only a plus one, 18.
Speaker 3:How do you sell Tiebreakers initiative.
Speaker 2:It's all about dexterity. Whoever's the highest?
Speaker 5:All right, Give me it one more time. What did you get?
Speaker 2:Glenn 24. 24. And Give me it one more time. What did you get? Glenn 24. 24. And Monty 18. 18. And Nines 25., 25. And Sam 18. 18.
Speaker 6:Okay. Yeah, sometimes you will see that annotated in certain game systems or virtual tabletops as your initiative number, let's say 18, and then dot, and then your dexterity modifier, and so mine would be in this case 25.5. Yeah, and so it still goes in numerical order, just based on dexterity.
Speaker 5:Okay all right, so there isn't a list of people anymore you should be able to.
Speaker 2:Oh, I don't know if you guys can see initiative order it's across the top for me.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I have never seen that new.
Speaker 5:Used to be a table that we get it's newish with all last like two months or so.
Speaker 3:Wow.
Speaker 4:I saw it in the community game we played a couple a week ago or so.
Speaker 6:I don't remember if I saw it before that game.
Speaker 5:How did the frowny face end up in the tree?
Speaker 3:I don't know, I don't know, where that came from.
Speaker 1:Just showed up.
Speaker 6:Okay, so all of this, these are walls we're seeing, right?
Speaker 2:Yes, those are walls that you can hide behind or move behind. They stand about four feet tall.
Speaker 6:Is any of this under a roof, or it's just these walls still standing?
Speaker 2:No, mostly there's no roof anymore.
Speaker 6:Okay, yeah, I'm just trying to Like I was picturing something completely different. So it's all these open-air ruins and this dragon skeleton is what Like a six-foot head, maybe 30 feet from nose to tail?
Speaker 2:Yeah, about that.
Speaker 6:Actually, I can measure it for you 33 feet goes the tail there you go, and so it is really just like this skeleton laying on the ground, all splayed out. I thought it would be like in a cool I don't know why. I was imagining like fossil presentation at a museum.
Speaker 2:Oh man.
Speaker 1:Up in the air. Yeah.
Speaker 3:I don't know, on display yeah.
Speaker 5:Did you just?
Speaker 2:see that, this map. Yes, you did see it at the beginning.
Speaker 5:No, no, no. Didn't we just see a fossil presentation? When we fought the, we went into the temple, the underwater temple.
Speaker 4:It was like the stuffed oh bye wife fossil presentation in when we fought the.
Speaker 6:It was like it's the stuffed.
Speaker 4:Oh, my wife. Everyone says bye, she is. Yeah, this type of the shark that came back to life. Three animated shark oh, okay, yes, that was like a Like a fish trophy, though, right, like it was like heart.
Speaker 2:Trophy like a fish trophy though right, Like it was like heart.
Speaker 6:Oh yeah, it was a fish trophy Anyway. So it's just like laid out on the ground and looks different from what I was expecting.
Speaker 1:I don't know.
Speaker 6:Does it look like these three are going to come to blows at any point, like could we just hold back for a minute? And they fight each other?
Speaker 2:It does look like these three are about to go to blows.
Speaker 6:Can I offer a silent prayer to?
Speaker 2:Matty, stop playing with the map.
Speaker 1:I'm sorry, I was completely.
Speaker 3:It was something new and fun to play with.
Speaker 6:It was flashing out of the corner of my eye.
Speaker 3:It was Matty playing with the TTP app. I'm deleting the stuff that I'm making.
Speaker 6:Yeah, could I offer a prayer to Ioun to let them hasten their conflict to get to the point where we can just mop up very easily?
Speaker 2:Sure, what does that prayer from Nines, who definitely prays silently, sound like?
Speaker 4:There's a reason we only get one round, monty will cast silence.
Speaker 2:You're not up, Monty.
Speaker 6:Man, I really I 100% forgot about that.
Speaker 3:My prep action is to cast silence.
Speaker 6:And so let me preface that by saying that I'm simultaneously moving into an advantageous position around this north wall. So still outside of their direct line of sight. And then my silent or my small prayer to Ioun would be something like oh shit, they're about to fight, Ha, ha, ha Yo they're about to fight.
Speaker 3:Yo, these dudes about to mess each other up.
Speaker 6:That's your silent prayer. Well, it has been long established that Nines doesn't pray silently Right and really does not understand what is wrong with it.
Speaker 2:So the rest of you see Nine, start booking it behind a wall as he's yelling. Oh shit, they about to fight.
Speaker 6:Oh fuck, I didn't mean to really give that sort of visual, but yeah, I guess that's kind of. That's how that one comes out. That's nines. What a lovable scamp Am.
Speaker 2:I right. So yeah, all three of them turn towards your party's direction and they are surprised. So surprise round.
Speaker 6:It is glenn, you're up all right hang on does that mean that they're less likely to fight now.
Speaker 5:All right, I'm sorry guys so glenn decides that glenn is going to resolve this issue. Okay, he's gonna. Glenn is ever the peacemaker, so he's gonna remove the implement of the conflict.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 5:So he's going to take, go forward 30 feet and throw a dagger at the crystal. Get inside 20 foot range.
Speaker 2:Alright, exactly, give me an attack roll 27. That does hit, give me some damage.
Speaker 5:Hold on, my dice is on top of my damage thing, so do I get sneak attack.
Speaker 2:Not on a crystal, no, but it's.
Speaker 4:It doesn't know, he's attacking.
Speaker 2:It's an inanimate object. You do not get sneak attack damage. I disagree.
Speaker 5:But sure it's an inanimate object. You do not get sneak attack damage. I disagree. But sure it's your game. You want to cheat how you want to cheat, that's fine. Eight.
Speaker 2:Okay, your dagger hits the crystal. You can see some cracks form but the crystal does still.
Speaker 5:Oh wait, I didn't move me. Hold on, shit, hold on. I'm going move me. Hold on, shit, hold on. I put myself in the right place.
Speaker 1:Can you guys see what I'm?
Speaker 2:measuring.
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 6:The way I described it in my notes is that they're all giving evil and it seems like they're about to fight. So Nines runs to cover behind the wall and prays violently to his goddess Ioun oh shit, like they're about to fight. So Nines runs to cover behind the wall and prays violently to his goddess Ioun oh shit, they're about to fight. He yells in supplication. I think that really sums it up. It does sum it up.
Speaker 5:And Glenn, as he's saying, he says I got this.
Speaker 2:Of course you don't have the axe anymore though. Yeah, all right, mon don't have the axe anymore, though, yeah, Alright, monty, you're up.
Speaker 3:Monty will move into a position where he has a clear vantage point on all three people Do. Are these things tall? Oops, I guess you can't. It doesn't work.
Speaker 5:Can I see over the top of those? Yeah, they're about three feet tall. I guess you can't. It doesn't work. I can see what you're pointing at.
Speaker 3:Can I see over the top of those?
Speaker 2:Yeah, they're about three feet tall. It would give you partial cover if you're standing behind it.
Speaker 3:So Monty will move himself. We'll say right about here. So he has a clear shot at all three people and will ready an action to attack any of them if they make a hostile action towards a member of our party.
Speaker 2:I don't think you can target all three of them. I think you have to specify exactly who you're going to target.
Speaker 3:Which one looks like the biggest, baddest MF-er out of the group Biggest baddest MF-er. We don't judge people based on their looks on our podcast.
Speaker 5:Wait, is this a?
Speaker 3:ready-to-action. What are we doing?
Speaker 5:So in your six-second assessment which one looks like the biggest threat.
Speaker 3:Yeah, which one looks like the biggest threat, Monty.
Speaker 2:I would say, based off of your history, the tiefling looks like the biggest threat.
Speaker 3:Okay, so he's going to read an action against the tiefling. If the tiefling makes anything that Monty would perceive as hostile to Monty and his black cat face outfit, he's going to attack him.
Speaker 2:Oh, that's right, I forgot you were wearing a black mask. Yeah, black cat mask. I forgot that.
Speaker 4:A white cat dressed up like a black cat.
Speaker 3:Alright, I forgot that A white cat Dressed up like a black cat, alright.
Speaker 2:Moving on Bill. What's up?
Speaker 5:What was the reaction of the three people fighting over the crystal to Glenn throwing a freaking dagger at it?
Speaker 2:The half-elf seemed to be a little upset about it, but the other two weren't really fazed. Okay, all right, sam.
Speaker 4:All right, sam watched what Glenn had done and is going to follow suit.
Speaker 6:She's going to run up, she's going to go 40 feet and she's going to get up here and she's going to rage, fucking rage. That's copyrighted. You can't use that.
Speaker 1:you have to say something else and you rage.
Speaker 4:It's copyrighted and I have this lightning rage, storm aura, uh, yep, some rage. That's my bonus action, okay, and I'm guessing that from where I started, plus 40 feet, I cannot be within 10 feet of that drow. I think she's within 10 feet of me.
Speaker 2:Judeira, it'd be close.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I'll give it to you Because 40.
Speaker 4:Damn, he's gonna give it to him. I'm gonna pass it to her.
Speaker 6:My intention is sexy.
Speaker 4:When I start my rage and as a bonus action on each of my turns, a creature of my choice in my aura takes lightning damage, which they can do a DC dexterity saving throw to try to avoid for half damage, for 2d6 damage. So can you have your Judiro Drow make a dexterity saving throw.
Speaker 2:Yes, I have a question for you. Okay, how rage reads? You have to physically attack them to maintain the rage.
Speaker 4:I'm going to throw two axes.
Speaker 2:Okay, alright, I just want to make sure.
Speaker 4:Yeah, otherwise it would cancel.
Speaker 5:Yeah, it would cancel at the end of the round. Yeah, can you?
Speaker 6:have this lightning aura. You're so mad that physical lightning is manifesting around you and you can direct it with your anger. Yeah.
Speaker 2:What's the DC, I'm sorry. What's the intelligence Charisma?
Speaker 4:Dexterity.
Speaker 2:Dexterity. Okay, she rolled a 13.
Speaker 4:17 to save, so she'll take full damage, which will be 2d6. Okay, 4, 8 damage, 8 lightning damage, and then so anyone else who's in my aura, so right now it's Glenn and myself. We also have lightning resistance as part of my lightning.
Speaker 1:Nice.
Speaker 4:So as I'm running up, I'm going to pull my two hand axes out from my waist holsters and just hook, hook, one after the other at the crystal also.
Speaker 2:Okay, that's a double hook.
Speaker 4:It's a double hook.
Speaker 2:Give me two attack rolls.
Speaker 4:Let's see 19 plus 9. The huckleberry fin and a 13 plus 9, the huckleberry finn and a 13 plus 9. Both heads. The 19, uh critical hit on 19 is a fighter specific champion subclass thing, so I don't do it. Oh, okay, so I had to look it up. So they both hit all right. So general hucks does it automatically add oh, because it only immediately attacks him. So the first one is 9 damage and the second one is 7 damage to the crystal, 9 and 7.
Speaker 2:Bill Huxtable. Okay yeah, the crystal cracks even further and it falls to the ground and is laying on its side, but it is still pulsing. Do they react in a different? Now? They are all very angry and they're looking. So the tiefling is you can see a fire burning in his eyes and he's looking directly at Sam. But the half-elf and the drow the drow is pissed at Sam just for hurting her.
Speaker 3:But the half-elf is looking directly at Glenn. Uh, monty will look at the tiefling with his bow drawn and just kind of say probably to himself nobody else can hear but say don't do it.
Speaker 2:All right, uh, so back to the top, because that was a surprise round. Oh, that was a surprise round. Yep I did say that.
Speaker 5:You did so your rain action is wasted.
Speaker 3:I thought the Okay, I thought our surprise round was before. That was round one. That was round one.
Speaker 4:That was round one.
Speaker 6:Oh, okay, I would have, yeah like uh, by the rules, they take the surprise to action or they they have the surprise status or something during the round.
Speaker 5:It's but would monty perceive that as that? I mean no I.
Speaker 3:I was under the impression that this was round one, so I am probably going to do the exact same thing next time. Go ahead, that's fine.
Speaker 2:Nines, you're up, alright, so.
Speaker 6:Oh shit, they're going to fight. I want the record to reflect that I have changed my character's name from Nines to Nines Nylun, which means no last name. Oh yeah, he doesn't have a last name. Because I noticed that everybody else does.
Speaker 3:Ironically, he has Nines first names.
Speaker 4:Sam didn't have one until this episode. That makes me feel any better.
Speaker 6:So I guess shit is going down, which is not really what Nines was trying to be all about. He just wanted to cast a quick little personal prayer. Of course it's a very religious and very personal thing, but everybody had to make it about them.
Speaker 3:Personal between him and everybody with an earshot.
Speaker 2:I like how you said it. And then a casual reminder. You're like ah, fuck, I forgot about that. I yell.
Speaker 5:And so you're the one that prompted Glenn's action. He was trying to break up the fight. They were fighting over the crystal. Glenn's trying to stop the fight.
Speaker 6:Well, nobody has attacked. No wait, there has been the lightning thing, correct In the.
Speaker 4:But you hucked your axes At the crystal At the crystal, glenn did it first, and so now is the crystal the target.
Speaker 6:You know what it?
Speaker 3:is so far.
Speaker 5:Nines hates this shit, the crystal's going to explode and kill us all. You all know that right.
Speaker 6:Well, I hope so, and I'm going to do a flying kick off of this fucking dragon skull and I'm going to say something appropriate like dragon strike. It would be like just slamming his heel down. There's a flip involved, there's a little bit of acrobatics, you know nothing flashy. We're trying to get a job done.
Speaker 3:Nothing that requires a roll, except for an attack.
Speaker 5:He's going to jump and yell out sarcastic catchphrase.
Speaker 4:All right.
Speaker 2:I'm just not rage. So, Nines, what are you actually attacking with?
Speaker 6:Yeah, so I guess that is going to be my Beunis unarmed strike, and this is just the precursor to the bow staff coming down.
Speaker 2:So this does not say whether or not you hit it or not. Roll me an acrobatics check.
Speaker 6:Alright, so with a plus 10, that's a 23.
Speaker 2:Because you put flavor in there, I'm going to give you a bonus to damage because of it. It wasn't going to hurt you or not, but you put a bonus to flavor in the combat, so I want to give you a bonus.
Speaker 6:I was just immediately a little wary. I know you were. I saw that Like oh, sorry, you missed.
Speaker 2:You tripped on the skull.
Speaker 4:Yeah right, you kicked yourself in the face.
Speaker 6:Unarmed strike on the drow 19 plus 10 for 29, so that's gonna be a wow. I can't even see the die because it's behind the chat box. 8 on a d10 plus 5 for 13 damage nice, okay, okay, yeah.
Speaker 2:So you strike her in the head as you're coming down and she falls to the ground and she is toppled A lot.
Speaker 6:I'm thinking about it now.
Speaker 2:She's also topless. She has fallen to the ground and she is topless somehow.
Speaker 3:Are the physics of this world the same?
Speaker 4:as.
Speaker 3:Knocks the brassiere straight off her.
Speaker 6:Wait, what was it you actually said I? I kicked her in the top of the head.
Speaker 2:You kicked her in the top of the head and she fell to the ground. So she's prone. I said toppled, but I meant prone, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay. But so now he said toppled but Bill heard topless.
Speaker 6:Now I can do my two attacks.
Speaker 2:Yes, you can.
Speaker 6:And so I'm going to quarterstaff. Man, it's going to be a nice pile driving. Imagine Donatello putting the full weight of his shell down on his quarterstaff. That's what I'm talking about here.
Speaker 2:That's what.
Speaker 6:Nines is imagining as he attacks with his plus 12. Does a 31?
Speaker 2:hit no, I'm sorry it doesn't, yes it does what the fuck?
Speaker 6:So that damage is going to be 12. Okay, and then second attack is a 24.
Speaker 5:Did you roll those at advantage?
Speaker 6:I did not Completely forgot. I guess I'll just roll it twice more. See if I throw any 20s and I don't.
Speaker 1:What's the second?
Speaker 6:damage. Second damage is 11. I don't know the action for the second damage. The first one was the pile driver. The second one is like I think even with all of his weight down, he's just going to do a little hop, A little pogo stick A little pogo, stick on it, yeah.
Speaker 2:That seems like a very Nines move.
Speaker 1:Alright in that.
Speaker 2:That concludes my turn. I think Alright, Glenn, you're up.
Speaker 5:So Glenn's still trying to resolve the conflict he's going to.
Speaker 3:You've grown so much.
Speaker 5:So can I do bonus, action, movement, action. Yeah, you can do it in any order, okay movement action yeah, you can do it in any order, Okay. Okay, so he's going to bonus action offhand. Throw a dagger at the crystal.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 5:And then move towards Fal'Nor, because he doesn't really like how he's looking at him.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 5:But he's going to put himself right here in front of directly north of it's Valianor.
Speaker 6:Yeah, that's the half-elf. They all on the map here. They all have names, but we don't know their names. Correct, yeah.
Speaker 5:Okay, I'm going to be doing a test.
Speaker 6:Mine were beating up on the brow, yeah yeah yeah, and now you're going at the half-elf.
Speaker 5:None of them. They're all different races, so I can just call them by their race. Yes, so half-elf.
Speaker 1:You don't need to encourage that.
Speaker 5:Well, that's because that's what Glenn would know, because he hasn't heard anybody use any names and he's really good about using correct names.
Speaker 6:Oh yeah, Glenn's one of the good ones.
Speaker 2:All right, so give me an attack roll for the crystal 26. It does it Damage.
Speaker 5:You lose. Since it's the bonus offhand, you lose the plus 5, right. So, it'd just be 1.
Speaker 2:Alright, yeah, so it's still glowing about the same amount. The dagger definitely hit it, but you don't see any more cracks on it or anything like that Okay.
Speaker 5:And then he's gonna say Ektor, and can I do Kaboom at the same time?
Speaker 2:I think Kaboom is the bonus action.
Speaker 5:No, Kaboom is a spell cast. And then the attack action is part of the spellcast, so yeah, I'm pretty sure I can do it.
Speaker 4:How do you get? Is the Ektorp? Is that a?
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's a free action, yeah, command word, that's just him brandishing his weapon.
Speaker 4:Okay then. Yeah, you can do that as part of your move too.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, that's action. Yep, okay, alright.
Speaker 5:So Ektor Kaboom Attack. I've been saying a lot of stuff so I won't be able to do a witty rejoinder, so it will just be that.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 5:I have no idea if this guy's an enemy, but he looks mean.
Speaker 2:It's a he right. Yes, give me an attack roll.
Speaker 5:Alright, but he looks mean. It's a heat, right? Yes, give me an attack roll, all right, 27 does it? Oh wait, let me see where I position myself. Yes, nobody within five feet. So eight plus 23 plus eight, okay, so 16 plus eight.
Speaker 2:Okay, so 1639, yep, all right. Yeah, so that is thunder or thunder damage yeah thunder, damage down. The word is very angry, don't like that. He doesn't, does not like that, I know, I know, I know all right, I'm gonna keep track right through daggers.
Speaker 5:Hopefully neither one of them are damaged.
Speaker 2:Alright, Monty, You're up buddy.
Speaker 3:Monty still hasn't seen any of these people attack his party, even though his party has no problem attacking these people. So he's going to. His bow was drawn with the attention on the tiefling. He's going to momentarily put it towards the drow and then towards the half elf, uh, but then go back to the tiefling and should the tiefling choose to engage a member of the party, monty will attack the tiefling. Okay, ready, just ready. Action again. Got it because he's he's not slowly convinced that they're bad people.
Speaker 2:I mean, they probably are now.
Speaker 3:His party has definitely sealed their fate, but he's just readying action because, well, Monty's a good person.
Speaker 5:Yeah.
Speaker 4:Did you? Guys all catch the moors or something Like what is going on.
Speaker 3:Don't just willy-nilly start firing arrows in people's faces.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 3:That makes non-friends.
Speaker 2:Anything else.
Speaker 3:Uh, nope, just ready to action, that's it.
Speaker 5:I mean realistically, glenn should have just done about a third or more of this thing's life, but maybe I said should.
Speaker 2:All right life. Maybe I said sure, alright. So, judira Nines, in front of you, you see the drow disappear and then she reappears behind Monty and she raises both of her hands. So she casts Misty Step. She raises both of her hands and you see lightning crackle from them and she places them on Monty's back. She's going to cast Shocking Grasp. That was your first mistake. Monty does a 24 hit. No, okay, great, great.
Speaker 6:Nines will use his free action to fail to warn Monty in time.
Speaker 2:Perfect execution 10 out of 10. Monty, you're going to take 16 points of lightning damage.
Speaker 3:Alright 16.
Speaker 5:You're not the one.
Speaker 3:I'm targeting. Why would she attack him? That makes no sense, because you were unconvinced about their.
Speaker 1:You do you so were unconvinced about their. Yeah, you do you.
Speaker 2:So each of them has a specific thing that they want, that they. Each of them has a specific combat type. They're each going to fight a different way, but you're the only one that did for the bad one.
Speaker 5:Yeah, clearly.
Speaker 2:Is Maddie within 10 feet of me? Is Maddie?
Speaker 3:No, but you're the only one that went for the bad one, yeah clearly, is that any within ten feet of me?
Speaker 2:Is Maddie.
Speaker 6:No, let's break Grow likes the back door, if you know what I mean. Yeah, but he is not.
Speaker 4:Monty, are you 12 feet? Yeah, Yep, Actually. Well, I mean 12 feet yeah.
Speaker 6:All right, Sam, you're up to the end back door.
Speaker 4:How's this crystal looking? You said it's still fluttering. Yeah. It's on the ground.
Speaker 5:Oh, you put it on the ground.
Speaker 4:Yeah, I dropped the thing. So Sam's like she thought we were trying to take this crystal out and now she's like we're fighting these dudes. She's going to keep going after us.
Speaker 2:Oh, actually, I'm sorry, morris. I'm sorry Mors. I had a question for you, or not Mors? Sorry Sam, nice twist, you didn't attack a creature last turn. Rage specifically says you have to attack a creature.
Speaker 4:Okay, that's fine, then I'm not raging and I'll do it again this turn.
Speaker 6:Yeah, the penalty is you lose one of your rages. Yeah, and so I mean, take it. Take it away, Maestro. It's your ballgame. That's fine Mix all the metaphors.
Speaker 4:Then in. Sam's. Confusion she loses her rage and she'll come forward and attack these crystals with her Gravedigger Shovel.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah.
Speaker 4:Alright, my first attack is a 19 plus 11 for 30.
Speaker 2:Jesus that does hit.
Speaker 4:And I'll roll damage up.
Speaker 5:No, I didn't move, damn it.
Speaker 6:It's 9 damage. These have been some good rolls.
Speaker 2:Yeah, solid rolls.
Speaker 4:My second attack is a 12 plus 11 for 23. That does hit. That'll be another. Oh, I think I have something that lets me reroll damage, because that sucked. No, that must have been a different character. Okay, and then for my bonus action, I will look at the crystal and see what happens, I think that's a free action.
Speaker 2:So, because you're intently looking at the crystal, you see a few more cracks form and the crystal's light does go out.
Speaker 4:I snort at it menacingly and then give it like a little huff and a nod.
Speaker 2:Teach you to not be a creature.
Speaker 5:Yeah, so I was oh yeah, you can't rage.
Speaker 4:Sorry, I can rage, but there's no, no, yeah, and then so I probably knew what, like 10 feet to get to that crystal, so stuff like 30 feet, yes, cool. So I'm gonna go 30 feet towards Maddie with it On top of her. I'm gonna to go 30 feet towards Maddie On top of her, I'm going to get right up on top of her, nice, and I don't think that I can do anything else.
Speaker 2:Okay. So Falnor, this half-elf in front of Glenn is going to raise his right hand and cast it forward, and he's going to cast Lightning Bolt, Cast Lightning Bolt. It will hit Glen, Monty, the Drow and Sam at the same time.
Speaker 4:Sam and Monty have resistance to lightning. Just for being in.
Speaker 2:Sam's presence.
Speaker 4:Oh, I don't have my rage on Correct, correct.
Speaker 5:Okay, I'm trying to remember. Is there any penalty to casting a spell while in melee range with somebody.
Speaker 2:If he's targeting you directly, yes, but lightning bolt forms a line of 100 feet long, 5 feet wide, blasts out in front of you in a direction I choose. Okay, but he's not targeting you, so it does not have a penalty. Because if he was targeting you, it does not have a penalty because if he was targeting you, it would have disadvantage on a direct target or, sorry, if he's targeting anybody, it would have disadvantage on the attack itself. But because this is a saving throw instead of an attack, there's no penalty.
Speaker 4:I do have that because I have advantage on deck saving throws against effects I can see, while not blinded, deafened or incapacitated, so I will get everybody give me on deck saving throws against effects I can see, while not blinded, deafened or incapacitated, so I will get.
Speaker 2:Okay, everybody, give me a deck saving throw 25.
Speaker 5:All right.
Speaker 3:I hate to be the one-upper, but I got a 26.
Speaker 6:Had to do it to him. I got a 17.
Speaker 3:Are we still in a forest? You are, I'm pretty I got a 17. Are we still in a forest? You are, I'm pretty sure that's a 35.
Speaker 4:And I do have resistance to lightning. Still, I had to find it.
Speaker 2:Okay, what gives you resistance? I'm just asking.
Speaker 4:My barbarian class is a storm soul. Even my storm aura isn't active Because I'm a sea primal barbarian. I still have resistance to lightning, I can breathe underwater and I have a swim speed of 30 feet.
Speaker 2:Oh shit, alright, so all of you have saved against it, including the drow, so each of you take 17 points of lightning damage.
Speaker 1:That's the save, that is the save.
Speaker 4:You want to take 8 or 9 for the resistance 9, always round up.
Speaker 5:So Glen will look at the half-elf and say you missed me, bitch.
Speaker 4:Sam's down to 139. Jesus, is that low? Am I doing? Okay, what?
Speaker 3:happened? Am I doing okay? What happened? Did I win?
Speaker 5:Turn his head back and say, hey, watch out.
Speaker 4:Sam sneezes.
Speaker 5:I'm still picturing Monty holding his bow, getting shocked once again.
Speaker 3:Aim at the wrong person, Alright so Matchless. This tiefling is going to happen to do nothing this turn?
Speaker 2:Happen to do nothing, nothing aggressive. It's going to come up to right here next to the crystal and he's going to look at Glenn and Glenn, you're going to feel a slight pressure behind your head and he's going to make me a charisma. Saving throw Should be pretty easy DC's 20. So I think you automatically save.
Speaker 1:I do Right that's only for skill tricks, not for his saves.
Speaker 2:Oh Right, so what did you get?
Speaker 5:Stab it, okay. So what did you get?
Speaker 2:Seven Okay, oh no.
Speaker 5:You're going to put me to sleep, aren't you?
Speaker 2:No, it's kind of worse than that, actually. What are you doing? Who? Whoever's drawing the?
Speaker 6:T-shirt. That was me. I was just thinking about the lightning bolt would be be perfect time for that sort of overlay.
Speaker 2:Glenn disappears from the map for one round, goodbye, and you will reappear in this spot after the next round.
Speaker 5:The same spot.
Speaker 6:What if it's already occupied? Will they get instigated? Banish.
Speaker 2:It's a reduced banish. Banish is a concentration spell that lasts for one minute. I'm only doing it for one turn, alright.
Speaker 3:That's an aggressive action.
Speaker 2:That is an aggressive action.
Speaker 3:I'm going to go ahead and take my turn now. Do it, monty's. Let's go ahead and use the sharpshooter feet and it's going to attack. It's going to attack twice. Let's see how far is he away from Felnor you have to attack the tiefling yeah, but I have, I can do Hordebreaker.
Speaker 2:No, you specifically called Ready to Action for Tiefling.
Speaker 3:So you can only attack. Okay, so I'll do two attacks at the Tiefling using Trip Shooter.
Speaker 2:Okay, give it to me.
Speaker 3:I got a 15 and a 25. The 25 does hit 25 is going to hit. Okay, uh, so I'll choose to mark this. Mark them as my favorite foe and I'll go ahead and do the damage, but I get the favorite foe damage as well.
Speaker 5:Your sharpshooter would give bonus damage right.
Speaker 3:Yeah, oh sorry, there's a 20. Does a 20 still hit.
Speaker 2:A 20 does hit.
Speaker 4:Okay. Minus five to attack, but plus 10 to damage.
Speaker 3:So it's a 21 plus 10, so 31 damage. Okay, total Damn.
Speaker 2:And as a bonus, action, cuz somebody literally just jumped up, can't take a bonus action on ready attacks.
Speaker 3:It's not a full turn. I can't just do that in the round at all, mm. Hmm, it's on your turn in the round, you can.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 3:Oh, on my turn in the round, I can bonus action.
Speaker 5:Can you do a readied action and a bonus? Can you do a readied action and then do your bonus action? Yeah, you still have your readied action. Yeah.
Speaker 3:So you'd have to declare the bonus action before the readied action.
Speaker 6:The 5e rules on delaying your turn. Are so dumb?
Speaker 2:Yes, In 2024 rules you cannot.
Speaker 3:I would have to declare the bonus action and then the readied action to be able to take them.
Speaker 2:I mean you can declare a readied action and then take them. It doesn't matter what order you do them in.
Speaker 4:The bonus action happens during your turn in the round, the readied action happens the next time. That, whatever trigger you said, happens before the start of your next turn and your action is to be ready to do a thing okay, so you can move still. You can do everything else, but your action, instead of attack or cast a spell, is on this specific trigger.
Speaker 3:I will do this specific thing, yep okay um yeah, I don't think I can play that out in a way that I would feel good about your turn's coming up soon. Yeah, I'll just do it. Then there's a lot of bonus action stuff that Moni can do that I just won't take.
Speaker 2:Alright, so the Tiefling does pass his concentration saving throw.
Speaker 3:What's the concentration saving throw for?
Speaker 2:He's concentrating on the banishment spell right now, so whenever he gets hit he's got to pass the concentration saving throw.
Speaker 5:But he's passed, so I stay banished. Yes.
Speaker 3:Actually, I do have a bonus action that would entirely make sense for Monty Nature's Veil Go invisible. I was going to do Arshadal in stride because somebody was on top of me, but at the time of my turn it would make no sense because the person wasn't there. So Nature's Veil would make sense. Yeah, I see that so becoming invisible.
Speaker 2:I mean not right now. You can't do that right now.
Speaker 4:You can only do that on your turn.
Speaker 3:Right now we're in that guy's turn, but he triggered your reaction, so I can't do a bonus action during that person's turn.
Speaker 4:No, no, no, because you have to do it during your turn.
Speaker 3:Short, short ready to action or a reaction short of a uh opportunity attack is the only bonus action you can take on someone else that's a reaction, not a bonus action, correct, I thought that counts as bonus action.
Speaker 4:No, it does not.
Speaker 2:No, typically in a turns round you have movement action, bonus action reaction.
Speaker 3:Okay, then never mind, I will do nothing.
Speaker 5:You can defer you.
Speaker 4:No, you did the thing already. You did it.
Speaker 5:During his turn.
Speaker 2:I attacked Nines. You did the thing already. You did it. You attacked him during his turn. You attacked him, I attacked him. Yeah, all right, nines, you're up Already, already.
Speaker 6:So I assume, because all three are still up right, the drow, the half-elf, the chief. All three are still up which one looks the most fucked up.
Speaker 2:Fal'Nor, the half-elf is probably. He's bleeding pretty good from a chest cavity wound.
Speaker 5:He's got a sucking chest.
Speaker 6:What the fuck? Okay, then I will deftly maneuver around to. Well, we don't do flanking right, Not in 5e now.
Speaker 2:Well, Glenn's not here right now.
Speaker 6:Oh, that's right, but we don't do flanking, right? Not in 5e, no, not in 5e. Well, saying not in 5e is a little not exactly what I was asking, because it is an optional rule. I'm asking if, within this game, we're doing it.
Speaker 2:No.
Speaker 6:I think the answer is no.
Speaker 5:Unless there's a specific storytelling reason, brandon has not allowed it.
Speaker 6:I'll just come here, I'll just A more direct route then and give him the old 1-2. Give it to me, and so this is going to be quarterstaff hit number one for a 29.
Speaker 2:Jesus, yeah, that hits damage.
Speaker 6:A 10 second attack is but a 16. Does that it?
Speaker 2:it does. No, the 16 does not hit.
Speaker 6:Hey, you did it still gonna attack with, like my left foot does a 19 hit 19 does it, hell yeah then that'll be 9 damage. That's mark that down. That's 9 left foot damage 9 left foot damage. Okay, yeah, it's from the left foot. I don't want to work-sided, sort of you know, attribute our damage numbers.
Speaker 2:Alright, Anything else. Nines.
Speaker 6:No, I like where I am in life. I know Glenn will be back in a second and everything will be honky-dory. Speaking of, I did damage to the half elf yes, is that concentration oh, he's not the one that cast that the tiefling was uh, well, yeah, okay, too much to hope, then.
Speaker 2:No, that is the end of of my round, okay, uh, glenn is still banished for this, so, monty, you're up so I'm not getting saved for that.
Speaker 5:This is still banished for this. So, Monty, you're up.
Speaker 2:Do I not get to save for that? No?
Speaker 6:not for a banishment. Yeah, I should have attacked the tiefling. I'm sorry.
Speaker 3:Go back to the realm you came from. So Monty, with his bow drawn towards the tiefling, is out of the corner of his eye gonna see this uh dark elf appear and is going to say what the? And, like the baby from incredibles, is going to erupt into flames, casting archdoll in stride. Uh, I'll do third level for that one. And he's immediately going to drop his bow, pulling out his spear and shield, and is going to stab twice at the drow with the Elvis spear from Adelaide, a character that nobody knows about anymore because it's so far detached from our actual storyline.
Speaker 6:That's not true. There is a token browser and if you click the token, browser and then select
Speaker 1:players. You see Adelaide Blood Hammer it looks like a dwarven something.
Speaker 2:Give me an attack then, Fonzie.
Speaker 3:Two attacks. We got a 20 and a 14.
Speaker 2:The 20 hits.
Speaker 3:The 20 hits. I'm going to also mark that person as my favorite foe. Seems how they're my first favorite, dealing a total of 8 plus 3. 11 damage not much, oh, and our shadow in stride, because they're still standing there getting burnt to a freaking chris, which is 1d6. Yeah, it's just 1d6. I'll do another 1d6 of damage. That's 5, so 16. A total of 16 points of damage.
Speaker 2:Monty, as you strike with your spear, you feel kind of an energy you've never felt before and you feel like you can make one additional attack with your spear.
Speaker 3:Alright, I'm gonna go ahead and equip my shield. Yeah, nope, monty feels very attacky today. Let's go ahead and do that again. I'll use Justin's inspiration.
Speaker 1:Monty rolled an 8. That is not it.
Speaker 3:That attacky he oh, that was cool.
Speaker 2:And then whiffs in the excitement Got too excited. Alright. So, monty, you've unlocked a feature of your spear Twice. During each short rest, you can make one additional attack with your spear Twice during each short attack with the spear.
Speaker 4:Okay, is it attack or attack action?
Speaker 2:Attack.
Speaker 3:Oh, so that's oh attack. Attack action would be two attacks. One additional attack Got it. And I have to use one of those correct.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 6:For the VTT. Here is there no next turn sort of.
Speaker 1:Thing.
Speaker 6:Because it looks like.
Speaker 2:I'm highlighted. Yes, there you go. Whatever you just said, I haven't been doing it.
Speaker 6:Ah, alright now we're there. There you go. Wait, does that mean, this is only round two?
Speaker 2:No, I think it's around three with the surprise run.
Speaker 3:Yeah, Ah there you go, all right, anything else, monty um, as a bonus action nope, wait, wait, wait, wait. Uh, I think I use my bonus action for our show on stride. Yes, okay, nope, that's it okay.
Speaker 5:And Sorry all right, your username Monty.
Speaker 3:My username.
Speaker 5:Yeah, the pen is mightier than the sword.
Speaker 3:Oh, the pen is my, yeah, it looks like the penis.
Speaker 5:might the penis mightier than the sword?
Speaker 3:Don't you know that your back skit?
Speaker 5:Penis mightier for no apparently not.
Speaker 2:I'll take the penis mightier for 300 Trebek.
Speaker 3:I don't want to know, man, but does it work?
Speaker 2:Alright so the drow? You see her blink out of existence and then blink back into existence over here using Misty Step and she is going to cast Firebolt at Monty. Monty does a 21 hit.
Speaker 3:I have resistance to.
Speaker 2:Fire, everything Okay.
Speaker 3:Two bolts, two annoying people.
Speaker 5:Okay, great.
Speaker 3:A 21 hits Okay.
Speaker 5:You're good against Brandon.
Speaker 2:Monty, you're going to take 22 points of fire damage. Okay, you're good. Against Brandon Monty, you're going to take 22 points of fire damage.
Speaker 5:Jesus, who was that?
Speaker 2:The drow, the drow, yep, and the drow is going to take a few steps over this way.
Speaker 3:Does Misty Step trigger an opportunity attack?
Speaker 2:No, no Wait, misty Step does not trigger an opportunity attack. Just ask me and I'll tell you. Just ask me and I'll tell you. Alright, sam, you're up.
Speaker 3:Do I get a cover from any of those things that are in between us?
Speaker 2:Well, she wasn't there when she shot Firebolt at you.
Speaker 3:She shot Firebolt and then moved.
Speaker 2:Misty stepped here, firebolted and then moved over here.
Speaker 5:Misty step is a bonus action. I have a question.
Speaker 2:What's your question?
Speaker 5:Are we on our home plane?
Speaker 6:Yes, do we all share the same home plane?
Speaker 2:That's fair. Nine does not own his home plane.
Speaker 6:Okay cool, because I was confused. I was like, wait a minute, I'm pretty sure.
Speaker 5:So I thought we just got sent to another plane. I'm a traveler.
Speaker 4:Is Sam on her home plane.
Speaker 2:Sam is not on her home plane. Oh right, no, Sam is on her home plane. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4:Oh right.
Speaker 2:Yeah, sam is on her own plane. Okay, the only one that isn't is Nines.
Speaker 4:Okay, my turn then. Excellent, sam has now seen Monty get hit twice in her close proximity and she's real mad. So she's going to rage. No, she's going to run forward. And then, when she gets within 10 feet of the strow, she's going to run forward, and then, when she gets within 10 feet of the straw, she's going to scream at her with all that she's got and she's going to rage. Okay, and then activating rage as a bonus action will strike that lady with some lightning damage. She needs to make a dexterity saving throw. Please Oof Nat 1., nat 1. That's going to be two whole D6 lightning damages for eight lightning damage give me three d6, because it wasn't that one I'll add an extra three to that, for a total of 11.
Speaker 4:All right, uh. So now I am raging and I'm, as I run up to her, I brandish my very scary shovel and I recklessly attack her, and as I do so, I'm also going to use my great weapon master ability. So I've got advantage, but I'm going to take minus 5 penalty to the attack roll to add plus 10 to the damage. I'm going to roll this bad boy at advantage. They're both 10s, which gives me a 16 to hit.
Speaker 2:Both of them 16. That does not hit. Okay, but you did. Attacks to the rage.
Speaker 4:Maintains well, and I have multiple tax, so I'm gonna attack again oh yeah, also with the, the great weapon fighter. So this will also be an advantage. There's a natural 20, baby it does hit.
Speaker 1:Holy shit.
Speaker 3:Critical.
Speaker 4:Alright, that's a big crit too, holy shit, yeah, so that's going to be. So it's normally a d12, plus it's two extra d trails for my crit thing, plus ten extra damage on top of the normal damage. So it's 16 plus 3d12 on this crit 16 plus 3d12?
Speaker 2:Damn.
Speaker 3:Sam grabs 9 staff and shoves it up her ass.
Speaker 6:What the fuck I have to touch that that's 29 damage.
Speaker 2:Tell me how you're going to kill this draw.
Speaker 6:I'm Not through brutal ass-fucking.
Speaker 3:Turned into a nine's lollipop.
Speaker 1:She's a shish kebab.
Speaker 4:Sam as she runs up, her eye is super wide and her veins are popping out. She's just screaming and roaring. There's little shooting out of her mouth as she does so and she swings wildly the first time and this drow is scared and dodges back for a second like, oh I, fucked up. And then, as Sam rings back from a left to right attack, she just turns it around and just takes another step and just, and then swings her shovel right through the midriff of this drow and disembowels her right Like just one fell swoop.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the drow screams once and you can see her try to push her hand forward one more time with electricity and she just falls short of you as she tries to reach towards you and falls to the ground and dies.
Speaker 5:Not trying to shove her guts back inside of her. No, she's very angry.
Speaker 2:Is she okay with her guts back inside of her? No, she's very angry, is she?
Speaker 5:okay with her guts being outside of her.
Speaker 2:Yeah, she's fine Anything else. Sam.
Speaker 4:Uh yeah, so I just want to measure how far I ran so I can really fuck with these guys. Alright, that was about I don't know, we'll call it 30 feet-ish.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 4:Uh, so I'm gonna turn and look at Fal'anor, okay, and I'm gonna just scream at him and then start running at him, okay.
Speaker 1:Alright.
Speaker 4:So, he's like grabbing the map and I actually get ten feet closer to him.
Speaker 2:Okay, uh, just so you know, just so you can see it. Oh, that's a glint. Just so you know, this is a wall right here, so you're gonna have to walk around it. Oh, just so you know, this is a wall right here, so you're going to have to walk around it.
Speaker 4:Okay, then I'll be a little bit more this way I'll go. Yeah, that's fine. I'll be on the front of this place.
Speaker 3:I had a question about that wall. Is it a tall, tall wall, or is it just difficult to train?
Speaker 2:They're about three and a half feet tall.
Speaker 3:So they count as essentially difficult to train.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean, I guess you could leap over them. I didn't think about it, yeah dude, it's about this tall. Three and a half feet, that's a leap.
Speaker 6:Stand up and show me three and a half feet.
Speaker 3:Don't worry, difficult train doesn't impede our group's movement. We're in a forest.
Speaker 2:We're in a forest. We're in a forest.
Speaker 1:I guess that's true.
Speaker 2:I'm going to look it up on the unwall rules, but yeah, it's about three and a half feet tall, alright, so, falnior.
Speaker 6:Falnior. What a stupid name man, if 9's new Founior's name oh man.
Speaker 3:He would. He would give him something to butt with his staff.
Speaker 6:Full on. Wait, is that more Anal torture? Alright, so Founior.
Speaker 2:Founior anal torture Alright. So, Falnior is going to step away from nines and nines, you get an opportunity attack.
Speaker 6:I want to take it.
Speaker 5:So you said that Glenn comes back at the end of the round or the end of his turn.
Speaker 2:At the beginning of your turn, you come back. Okay.
Speaker 6:It was a 27 hit.
Speaker 2:It does. Give it to me.
Speaker 6:Oh, yeah, baby, that's some fucking, that's some 9 damage 9 damage. That's a 9 from 9s. I just realized I'm not using like a third of my fucking screen real estate.
Speaker 4:I have this giant-ass monitor and I'm not using like a third of my fucking screen real estate.
Speaker 6:I have this giant ass monitor and I'm like clicking back and forth between tabs Gross. I'm sort of caveman.
Speaker 2:Alright, so Founyor is going to step back here and he's going to scream loudly so everybody can hear. I am Founyor. Founyor, scream loudly so everybody can hear.
Speaker 5:I am Falnior.
Speaker 2:Hear me roar. I am the great.
Speaker 6:Mine is gonna furrow his fucking brow.
Speaker 1:We need to keep this.
Speaker 5:We need to keep this guy alive, so Brandon has to keep doing the voice.
Speaker 2:I am Falnior. I am found York. I am found.
Speaker 1:He is a new party member.
Speaker 2:On nines he's going to cast Insect Plague. Oh, that's a terrible instance.
Speaker 6:Oh my God, they're not blood-sucking insects, are they?
Speaker 4:They are blood-sucking insects.
Speaker 3:They suck something else.
Speaker 6:So this is a great place to use the overlays.
Speaker 5:Yes.
Speaker 6:You can change the color, you can throw a pattern in there.
Speaker 2:Where's the circle? There's a circle that I can draw on here somewhere, yeah.
Speaker 4:In the overlays.
Speaker 2:There it is, that's what I was looking for. Thank you, guys.
Speaker 6:You're so welcome. Get that shit out of here, bro. I'm being real out of here, bro. I'm being real respectful of your VTT.
Speaker 2:Fine, you're right, you're right, I'm gonna grab this. He's gonna cast it on Glenn or on Nines.
Speaker 5:That was mine, he's casting it on a different plane.
Speaker 2:And so Nines and Matchless with the T-Fling are both going to have to make constitution saving throws.
Speaker 6:What am I concentrating on?
Speaker 2:Constitution Constitution.
Speaker 6:I'm concentrating on my constitution. What are you thinking about?
Speaker 2:Does a 19 save me from these terrible insects it does, and so you're only going to take half damage at 14. Hooray and the tiefling passes its constitution, so he's also going to take 14.
Speaker 5:Who passed the lightning bolt?
Speaker 2:That was Falnior.
Speaker 5:Okay.
Speaker 2:Fucking stupid ass, stupid ass, stupid ass.
Speaker 5:So does that stay around?
Speaker 2:The insect blade. Yes, it's a concentration spell.
Speaker 6:Oh, I was thinking it'd be real tight if a lightning bolt would stick around and just be like an obstacle, just be real mean.
Speaker 2:That'd be pretty awesome.
Speaker 4:I just realized that I missed a trigger. I'm very sad. Part of my great weapon master is that when I drop a bad person or enemy, I get to make an extra attack. I could have chucked another axe Dang.
Speaker 2:This tiefling is going to step back and you see a double firebolt come out of him, and one is going towards nines and the other is going towards Falnior, the half-elf.
Speaker 6:Oh, they're fighting each other.
Speaker 2:Ooh nat 20 nines.
Speaker 6:Oh no.
Speaker 2:And then for the half or the half or the half, elf A 17, nope, sorry, 19 with. So they both hit. So 9s you are going to take?
Speaker 6:Oh, these are fire bolts, fire bolts, yes, yeah okay, so those are just like. Direct attack sort of, as opposed to the fireball, which is the area 9s you are going to take 24 points of fire damage. What if I direct?
Speaker 2:attack sort of, as opposed to the fireball, which is the area Nines, you're going to take 24 points of fire damage.
Speaker 6:What if I say that I don't want to.
Speaker 2:I mean, do you have anything to stop it? And the half-elf is going to take 16.
Speaker 1:That's not what I'm saying.
Speaker 6:Oh, okay, you said to take the damage.
Speaker 2:Okay, alright.
Speaker 6:And I hadn't thought a lot of it.
Speaker 2:You're right, this is half. Elf is going to pass this concentration saving you said 24 damage, 24 fire damage.
Speaker 5:Yes, I hate that too nice that frickin tiefling or that it's a different thing making a constitution, Never mind.
Speaker 2:Nine, it's your turn. Is Glenn back? Yet he will appear right after your turn.
Speaker 6:I'm going to make sure that it's my fault that he appears. I'm going to run up to this tiefling.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 6:And then I'm going to give the tiefling a little talking to Give him the talking A little. What for? Well, yeah, with my butt-covered quarterstaff. Ah, motherfucker, does a natural one for a 13 hit? No, it does not.
Speaker 3:That's still pretty good.
Speaker 6:Does a 31 hit you, son of a bitch? That does hit All right. Well, I think that is also going to call for a flurry of blows. Oh shit, Got me a nine on that D10. And 16 damage on the tiefling.
Speaker 2:Okay, 16 damage. Let me do a concentration throw Fails. Glenn, you reappear. I need you to make me a constitution saving throw.
Speaker 3:Okay, I will. That didn't actually help.
Speaker 5:Well, it's going to happen anyway. Does the crystal make a constitution saving throw? No, why not?
Speaker 2:Because it's an inanimate object.
Speaker 5:No, those insect swarms are stinging everything.
Speaker 2:It says creatures need to make a constitution saving throw.
Speaker 6:I'm sure the mosquitoes are stinging rocks, just like all mosquitoes have evolved to do.
Speaker 2:You do pass the constitution, saving throw. What if I identify as two? So, Glenn, you're going to take all low rolls. That's six damage.
Speaker 5:Okay, I will take three instead. How's that? Like that? Fine, Actually hold on. Let me make sure that I can actually do it like that. I don't remember.
Speaker 4:It's a reaction from a source per round right. Yes, you wouldn't have had an opportunity to take any other reaction, so I don't think that makes sense.
Speaker 3:Well, it's a new round.
Speaker 4:He hasn't had an opportunity, so we think he could. It'll be the only one this round.
Speaker 5:That's pretty low damage.
Speaker 4:I don't know if that's worth it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm not going to do it. Alright, you take six damage, then Welcome back Did you do your flurry of blows.
Speaker 6:No, not yet. That is at a plus ten, for so close. You know what number is real, close to twenty.
Speaker 2:Twelve, that's number two, which is what I rolled for a 12.
Speaker 3:Yeah, that is not it 2 is technically only 0 away from 20.
Speaker 6:That means it's the same number, 2 plus 0 equals 20.
Speaker 3:When you concatenate 2 and 0, you get 20.
Speaker 6:He's got a point. Yes, he does.
Speaker 3:Peter Science math my friends.
Speaker 6:I thought you said Peter Science. I don't know who the fuck Peter is, but they're a god damn genius.
Speaker 5:His science math is weird.
Speaker 2:Nines anything, anything else.
Speaker 6:Sorry, no, that, yeah. That concludes my turn.
Speaker 2:Alright, glenn, you are back. You're around a bunch of swarming insects that are stinging the fuck out of you, right?
Speaker 6:now. They might have some of my blood, so I'm going to need your help. I don't know which ones.
Speaker 5:Len will say look her out, what the fuck? And dart forward to stand right next to the half-elf.
Speaker 3:FAL-NUR.
Speaker 5:Outside of the insect swarm.
Speaker 3:My power is greatest my name is F Fal-Nior.
Speaker 6:Wait, no, you're saying, you're saying Fal-Nior, fal-nior, it's not. You know what.
Speaker 4:Don't tell him how to say his name. Yeah, that was, who would know better.
Speaker 6:You're right, you're right, I thought it was Fal-E-Nor.
Speaker 4:No, it's because it's a regional dialect guys.
Speaker 6:Just imagine how things were when he was growing up, going through school and everybody's mispronouncing his name. He's constantly out to correct people. Awful Like. No, it's actually Falynor. I know, I don't know why it's spelled that way.
Speaker 4:Thank my parents.
Speaker 2:My dad was a little drunk when he wrote my name on the birth certificate. It happens.
Speaker 6:Yeah, right, Like we gotta have some empathy here.
Speaker 2:You're right what you got, Glenn.
Speaker 5:Yeah, because that's something.
Speaker 6:Glenn's good at. We're all on a journey bro.
Speaker 5:So is Bill, anyway. So Glenn will dart forward and I say kaboom and poke the half-elf because he doesn't know his name that's true.
Speaker 2:You weren't there when he yelled his name out loud. Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 6:Uh, nine, fool, that does hit his name is Falnir, isn't that stupid?
Speaker 5:that is a stupid name right, thank you so he will do Stupid. That is a stupid name, right, thank you. So he will do 8, 22, 15.
Speaker 2:Jesus 30, 45 damage. Alright, tell me how you kill Founior.
Speaker 5:So Glenn will say you really shouldn't argue over rocks. And you'll see him go like swipe his sword back and forth a couple of times across the guy's chest and then just jab it straight in the middle where he's cut the guy's cloak out of the way to expose bare skin so it kind of cut an x into it so it kind of opens up a little bit and then he just jabs his sword directly into his chest cavity.
Speaker 3:You don't have to worry about that anymore.
Speaker 5:And he pulls his sword out and just flips off the blood.
Speaker 2:I got to cut a G into his shirt, the half-elf, falls to the ground clutching his chest, and he screams one more time. I have found your as he collapses to the ground the stupid name and then he looks over, then he looks over at the t fleet.
Speaker 5:You're next, you know, not by me, but somebody. Okay, right, all right monty, you're up, that's all what he said
Speaker 3:um, okay, so map wise monty's, at the northern section of the map, we've got one remaining enemy in the east, or the western quadrant of it. Sam is on the east, bill is in the south, this little thing right in front of me. Is this again a difficult terrain? Not for us.
Speaker 2:No, that pillar is five feet taller.
Speaker 3:So do I have to go around it.
Speaker 2:Yes, you do.
Speaker 3:Okay, so Monty will go around it 10 feet of movement and then use my other 50 feet of movement to get on the other side of the remaining tiefling. How many movement you got, bro? I got 60 total right now Because of the Archidol in stride, thus lighting him on fire a little bit as he's stabbing him with his spear. So I'm going to do three attacks with the Elvish Spear of Adelaide.
Speaker 2:So you're using your second attack.
Speaker 3:I'm using my second one.
Speaker 2:Alright.
Speaker 3:The dice is literally showing an 18. Instead, it rolled a 4. That's so weird, okay. First attack misses Second attack misses Dang, they all missed then 9, 17, and 14.
Speaker 2:All three miss.
Speaker 3:Okay, so he takes 1d6 damage from the fire.
Speaker 2:Give it to me.
Speaker 3:Oh, I'll give it to you all, right For a natural 6.
Speaker 2:All right, all right that kills him.
Speaker 3:This is going to be the most anticlimactic finish.
Speaker 1:It does not kill him.
Speaker 2:It does not kill him.
Speaker 3:Hey, that really hurts. Knock it off. And then for a bonus action, monty is going to use the natural veil and just kind of realizing his attacks did not do anything to this superior like supreme being that he was trying realizing his attacks did not do anything to this superiorly like supreme being that he was trying to stab with a spear.
Speaker 2:He's just going to go invisible, okay, even though he hit it with his bow earlier.
Speaker 3:Apparently he can't touch it now and he's just going to disappear into the background.
Speaker 2:Well, you don't use your spear very often. It's a new weapon for you. It's new. All right, he's all shy for you.
Speaker 3:All right, he's all shaggy.
Speaker 2:Sam, you're up.
Speaker 4:All right, yep. So Sam now focuses the attention of her rage to I can't read his name because there's so many things on there.
Speaker 2:His name is Matchless.
Speaker 4:Matchless. Yeah, and I have a 40-foot movement speed, which means I can get right on top of that little bitch. Hell yeah, and I have a 40 foot movement speed, which means I can get right on top of that little bitch. Hell yeah, join our fuck train. So I'm going to continue. Just let out another huge roar and just run at him and get right up next to him. So now Monty and Nines are both within my lightning magical aura. I'm going to use my magical aura to do some lightning damage to him. So you have to make a dexterity saving throw, please, as a bonus action.
Speaker 2:Does a 17 save?
Speaker 4:17 meets, so you'll only take half of these 2d sixes.
Speaker 3:We have to do the same.
Speaker 4:You'll take half of three. Damage for two to a pinch Yep. Is it just?
Speaker 2:enemies, or is it all creatures?
Speaker 4:It's one enemy, okay.
Speaker 3:You're also in my flame aura right now. That's fine. I think it's the end of my turn. I can move to get him out of it.
Speaker 4:If I enter your space, does it hurt me? I mean, I don't really care that much. When you move within five feet of a creature or object that isn't being worn or carried, it takes a d6. It does it only once a turn. Yeah, that's fine. I'll take your 1d6 and hope that my life just gets me through it.
Speaker 3:No, no, you're fine, it's when I move within 5 feet of a creature or an object. So you move within 5 feet of a creature or an object.
Speaker 4:So you move within five feet of me, so it doesn't actually attack perfect, and then I will bring out my bloody shovel and perform another reckless attack, or a series of reckless attacks. The first one is a 12 plus 9 for 23. Sorry, 12 plus 11 for 23 23. That hits and that damage is 18. Dang.
Speaker 6:And then 12 on that d12.
Speaker 4:Another yeah, good one and then another attack. So it's 16 plus 11 for a 27 to hit. That hits For another 5 plus 6 for 11 damage. Okay, and that's my move and bonus.
Speaker 2:Alright. Yeah, his tiefling's looking rough. He's got blood coming out from pretty much every hole in his face. His right eye is swollen shut and he's got cuts all over him and he looks around at all of you and he laughs. Once I didn't hear no bell. He says oh, if I'm going, you're going with me. And he raises his hand and throws a fireball directly at his feet. Danger sense.
Speaker 4:I can see it right.
Speaker 2:Uh, alright, so all three of you need to give me a dexterity saving throw. I can see it right?
Speaker 6:Yes you can Hey-oh, does a 25 save it?
Speaker 4:does save Brandon, so with danger sense I have advantage on dex saving throws. Does a natural 1 plus 2 or a 3 plus 2 win no.
Speaker 2:No, it does not.
Speaker 4:Alright, how does this fireball treat us?
Speaker 2:Monty, what about you? I got a 28.
Speaker 3:Okay 19 plus 9. Is this?
Speaker 4:the fireball that does lightning damage.
Speaker 2:No, it does not do lightning damage. Okay, just checking, that would be cool. It's a very unique fireball that does lightning damage.
Speaker 4:No, it does not do lightning damage, okay, just checking.
Speaker 3:It's a very unique fireball.
Speaker 2:So, for those of you that saved, you took 16 points of fire damage. For those of you that failed, you took 32 points of fire damage.
Speaker 4:Do I have to tell? You when I get below 100 health, because I wouldn't tell you, but my monk has evasion meaning that my dex saving throw gives me zero damage.
Speaker 2:So you took zero damage. Correct Nice.
Speaker 5:He has the same evasion that the monks and rogues share that. I think monks get it later.
Speaker 6:Much later, yeah, like seven, I think.
Speaker 2:Monty, what does that put you at?
Speaker 3:Jeez, I'm down to 17. Monty's hurting here he started the fight at 95. I've taken a lot of damage, just freaking go around.
Speaker 5:I mean Glenn took six. I'd be almost bloody at 95.
Speaker 1:Six.
Speaker 2:The tiefling ignites. And dies what's your question, Glenn. Isn't that the thing that?
Speaker 6:they're susceptible to.
Speaker 5:Did the crystal die?
Speaker 2:The crystal is on the ground and is not glowing.
Speaker 5:It just took 32 points of damage, right.
Speaker 2:No.
Speaker 5:Why not?
Speaker 1:I mean it's on the ground and not glowing Like it doesn't die.
Speaker 2:It's an inanimate object.
Speaker 5:I know, but I want to make sure the thing isn't going to friggin' do anything. Is it destroyed?
Speaker 2:No, it's still on the ground.
Speaker 6:You take a crystal outside, you hit it with a flamethrower. You tell me how much damage it takes 32 32. Damn, that was wildly accurate.
Speaker 2:All right, so you are out of combat. We are going to wrap up here in a second, but is there anything you'd like to do?
Speaker 3:I may not take the damage from that last round.
Speaker 2:No, you took the damage from that round.
Speaker 3:Nature's Hill literally doesn't do anything, except for I can't be targeted Like fireballs. I'm not targeting correct.
Speaker 6:Shines is going to go lick my wounds.
Speaker 5:Nines is going to go recollect his blood from all the insects, yeah when the insects disappear when Falnior died, does his blood just pop out of the insects?
Speaker 6:the blood goes with the insects yeah, but the insects die though right and fall on the ground.
Speaker 2:I mean the spell dissipates, yeah, I would say the insects fall, yeah, but the insects die, though, right, and fall on the ground. I mean, the spell dissipates, yeah, I would say the insects fall and die to the ground. Yeah, there's just thousands of insects on the ground. You know what?
Speaker 3:Mortars.
Speaker 6:Every journey of a thousand miles. So for my penance of creating the wh uh, for my uh, for my penance of creating the wholeness of my own body, I'm gonna uh use Wholeness of Body, which is once per long rest. I can regain 39 hit points.
Speaker 2:Alright, do it.
Speaker 6:And that brings me back to full.
Speaker 5:Nice. So Glenn is gonna look around. What? Why were we fighting? Never mind, you know. Reach down and check out Valnior's corpse.
Speaker 6:We're fighting because the environment felt right for combat.
Speaker 5:Fair Okay.
Speaker 6:Alright On.
Speaker 5:Valnior's body.
Speaker 2:You find two scrolls of lightning bolt and 24 gold pieces.
Speaker 5:Nice, glenn is going to be casting some spells.
Speaker 3:Monty will check out. He's going to very spitefully, due to all the damage he's taken, stab Matchless again with his spear and then start rummaging his body looking for anything.
Speaker 2:All right, as you rummage his hold up one second, as you rummage his body, you find a broken potion of greater healing. You find a greater healing potion and, uh, a scroll of fireball. What is a broken, greater healing potion you stab through, the potion of healing.
Speaker 3:Oh, kind of like lick my spear afterwards and still get it. No.
Speaker 6:Can you pour potions on wounds.
Speaker 3:So in other words, I find one, a scroll and one greater potion of healing Correct.
Speaker 5:Huh, there is a scroll of lightning bolt.
Speaker 2:There's not.
Speaker 3:I think Monty will probably just chug that greater potion of healing. What do I restore from that one? You get 4d4.
Speaker 6:Wow, 44. That's a lot.
Speaker 3:That's 44. Are you getting 14? Nope, okay, monty heals for 14.
Speaker 2:Okay, what is Sam doing?
Speaker 4:So first she's looking around making sure there's nothing else so there's still like lightning kind of sparking and arcing off of her shoulders and arms and then, what she realizes, the battles over. She kind of takes a few deep breaths, she wipes the, wipes the blood of her shovel off on her legs, like her bare legs, and then recreates it. You got to keep your weapons clean, right, yep? And then she'll, she'll mosey over to Judea and take, you know, take a look at her and see what's left over there.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 2:There are two scrolls of Misty Step on her and 19 gold pieces.
Speaker 3:So essentially, a scroll just allows you to cast a spell once, right.
Speaker 2:Correct as an action. Nines, you feel a compulsion in your head to go and pick up the blue crystal. You don't have to roll for it, you don't have to go do it, but there is something urging you to go pick up the blue crystal.
Speaker 6:Completely character choice. Yeah, nines gets these sorts of feelings all the time. Okay, like the fire looks real pretty, nobody would miss that necklace. You know normal sorts of impulses, of course. And so, yeah, nines is absolutely going to go pick up the crystal, okay, His inner voice has never steered him wrong.
Speaker 2:Perfect. So, nines, you hear a woman's voice and as you pick up the crystal, there's a slight glow to it and you hear a woman's voice coming from it and it says the first component is the power of words. Speak me into being Ioun Ioun. Nothing happens when you say Ioun Ah.
Speaker 6:Me into being.
Speaker 5:That is what I thought he was going to say.
Speaker 6:What did you say? Oh, it said speak me into being, and so Nine said me into being. That's what he speaks.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the crystal sounds a little exaggerated and you hear another female voice or exasperated thank you and says, no, like my name, say my name, oh, uh.
Speaker 3:Say my name. Say my name Nines is like racking his brain.
Speaker 6:I'm so sorry, I've already forgotten. I'm Nines and you are.
Speaker 2:I can't tell you. That's part of this. You only have to say my name hang on.
Speaker 6:He's gonna start thinking about women's names that he knows and has heard recently and we just talked about and we just talked about and he is like Sam Poop, there was Poop something, there was a, there was a druid, there was the nice lady who I think wanted to touch my pee pee.
Speaker 2:Those aren't names, you're just ascribing people. You just have to say my pee pee. Those aren't names, you're just ascribing people. You just have to say my name. That's all I need.
Speaker 6:Snapping. He is really trying to. Oh, he's really getting close to this. He's like hey guys, guys, who's the Sorry, the winged? They're lizards. Oh man, that's so funny. I forgot the name of Dragon. Yes, thank you. That's so weird. You ever just like You're trying to think of something and then you forget what you're thinking of, and then it's like ugh, you know.
Speaker 5:So Glenn is looking at nines.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you're looking at nines holding the crystal.
Speaker 1:Mm-hmm.
Speaker 5:Why would you?
Speaker 6:You know what? Never mind, it was dragon. That was the word I was thinking of. Thank you All right where to next.
Speaker 5:So did we find anything of mistras in this temple?
Speaker 6:nope, I don't think so.
Speaker 2:I mean, I got this crystal that's talking to me, but nothing of mistras as soon asines says the word Mystra, nines, your vision cracks and you can tell that your vision is from the past. You see ornate floating cities on islands in the sky and unparalleled, arcane minds from wizards. A vast empire unfolds before you. Magic is there's, unfettered magic, no longer funneled through normal mortal hands in a way they can control. Mages are burning alive in their own spells, in their own flames. As they cast it, blue fire consumes entire islands, others fall, others fall into wild magic. Landscapes are twisting and the land before you falls. The island falls in a cataclysm of floating cities that are impacting the earth below weary voice. History repeats Greed consumes. History always repeats I am Mystra and I need you, or we fall again. And so, nines, I need you to roll me a d6.
Speaker 6:Nines is like another epic quest Simple d6. Here we go.
Speaker 3:Declined.
Speaker 6:Oh, no thanks, I'm already on a quest, so I rolled a 6 on my d6.
Speaker 2:Holy shit, you gain a 7th level spell slot, A wizard 7th level spell slot. A wizard 7th level spell slot to use once per long rest.
Speaker 6:That sounds way cooler than it actually is.
Speaker 2:I mean, 7th level is pretty high. That's really fucking high, especially for a monk.
Speaker 6:Yeah, oh, I completely understand. But you have to understand. I've had a spell this whole time. See, what you guys don't realize is that I've been sitting on a spell and I just hit things.
Speaker 3:You know it's a simple life. Someone's got to do it.
Speaker 6:It's honest, simple life. Someone's got to do it. It's honest work, all right.
Speaker 3:For your seventh level spell you should take like Cure Wounds or something.
Speaker 2:I'll take a look.
Speaker 6:Is there any sort of Mystra-related seventh level, things that might be pertinent or just any sort of wizard, 7th level.
Speaker 2:Any wizard level 7th spell. Alright, I'll take a look at that. Does he have to pick it?
Speaker 5:now, or can he pick it on the?
Speaker 2:No, he has to pick it now. He has to pick it now and add it to his so, before our next session.
Speaker 4:It's unchanging.
Speaker 6:Okay, thank you. Before our next session and no, he cannot change it. Quick name a 7th level D&D spell.
Speaker 1:Fireball. Okay, you're right.
Speaker 6:The bar was too low. That one's on me.
Speaker 2:I mean you can choose Fireball and just cast it at the 7th level.
Speaker 6:No, this is going to have to be perfect. You've given me homework, thank you.
Speaker 2:So, with that, that's where we're going to end it for the night.
Speaker 6:I'm just kidding. I'm just going to ask Chad GBT. Yeah.
