John Spence - Awesomely Motivated - Abused Child Turns Pain into Power
Show Notes

When John Spence was sixteen, his father, a famous attorney, came home and told his second youngest child, "You’re a complete disappoint as a son. I wish you’d never been born. Get out of my house." Mind you, at that moment, John was a straight-A student, captain of the football team and homecoming king. By 26, John Spence was the CEO of an international Rockefeller foundation, overseeing projects in 20 countries. Two years later, Inc. Magazine named him one of America’s Up and Coming Young Business Leaders. Since, he’s been recognized as one of the Top 100 Business Thought Leaders in America and one of the Top 100 Small Business Influencers in America. John gave a TED talk on leadership and, after multiple stints running companies, now consults and coaches organizations worldwide, from startups to the Fortune 10 companies. He is dedicated to helping people and businesses make the very complex "Awesomely Simple,” which happens to be the title of his book, Awesomely Simple: Essential Business Strategies for Turning Ideas Into Action. The wound he suffered when his father cut him off and kicked him out, may never heal. But John shares how that pain made him who he is and helps him soar as an author, teacher and leader.
