Welcome on a journey of enlightenment as we celebrate the Goddess of Prosperity, Lakshmi, in a breathtaking Cosmic Scene. Learn about the richness of Vedic teachings as we explore the festival of Diwali, a beacon of light, prosperity, and victory, marked by the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya.  Delve deeper into the symbolism of the lotus, a vital emblem in Hinduism, and the Sri Yantra, a geometric design, for Lakshmi, believed to bring wealth and prosperity.

Diwali is a festival of Light, and is one of the favorite festivals of Hindus which falls every year between the months of October-November.  It is celebrated with joy all over India venerating Lakshmi, the Vedic Goddess of prosperity.  Lakshmi inspires much devotion. Many of her names, Padma, Kamala, and Ambuja refer to the lotus.  The lotus has powerful symbolism.  While its roots are in the mud, its stalk rises clearly through the murky water, with its petals blossoming above, untouched by the mud.  It is a symbol for rising above the material world through divinity, of being good in midst of negative influences.  Like the lotus, the Goddess of Prosperity, Lakshmi, shows us how to access material wealth, or transcend it to gain spiritual progress. She is often shown with four hands, which are mean to represent the four goals of life according to the Vedas:  Kama (love), Artha (wealth), Dharma (right purpose) and Moksha (liberation).
Lakshmi wears a red sari, with gold thread, representing wealth, beauty and fertility. Coins rains down from her palms, as she smiles blissfully.

Ever wondered how ancient hymns could influence your life?  Parashakti Jill chants the powerful Sri Maha Lakshmi Ashtakam, as an honor to Lakshmi. We will unravel how this potent mantra can help manifest spiritual and material abundance. We'll help you comprehend the transformative power of this mantra in conquering great sins, attracting wealth, and combating adversaries.  Certified Sanskrit Mantra Instructor, Jill Jardine, teaches 5 Lakshmi mantras for wealth and prosperity.

Speaker 1:

Welcome to Cosmic Scene with Jill Jardine. I'm your host, jill Jardine, master's in Counseling, psychology, longtime professional astrologer, psychic healer and yogi and Sanskrit mantra instructor. In this episode, I'm going to teach mantras to Lakshmi, goddess of Prosperity. She celebrated at the festival of Kivali, which occurs at the Scorpion New Moon on November 12th this year, 2023. Stay tuned till the end of the episode when I chant the Lakshmi Ashta Common Sanskrit and then share the English transliteration. The Lakshmi Shatakam is a powerful hymn to the Goddess, and all will benefit from these prosperity transmissions. Welcome to the episode Honoring the Goddess of Prosperity, lakshmi, during her festival that occurs every year, known as Divali.

Speaker 1:

Divali is one of the biggest festivals observed in India. It is celebrated among Hindus as the festival of lights. This festival is celebrated for ages, based on the Vedic teachings. When Lord Rama arrived in Iota after killing Ravana, the demon king who abducted his wife Sita, it is a very well-known story in Vedic teachings. To celebrate the return of their victorious king, people decorated the entire city with lights. There was a mold of celebration everywhere and a variety of sweets and other delicious recipes were made. In India today, this celebration is called the Festival of Lights Divali. People decorate their houses and welcome Goddess Lakshmi, wife of Rama. Even today, we celebrate this occasion with the same spirit. Today, people decorate their house and welcome Goddess Lakshmi, wife of Rama. Rama and Sita were incarnations of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi on earth. So there are Sita, lakshmi and Rama Vishnu. All is one, but many are the names. Divali is a festival of light and one of the favorite festivals of Hindus. This festival usually falls between the months of October and November. It seems to fall on the Scorpion New Moon, or what is the Libra New Moon in Vedic astrology. It is celebrated with joy all over India. People start preparing for the festival a week before. They buy lamps, lights, decorative items and many other items. Sweets are also prepared for visiting friends and relatives.

Speaker 1:

The holiday Divali is, for many, a tribute to Lakshmi. Hindus vigorously clean their homes and surroundings and light them and their businesses with rows of lights in order to invite the Goddess to visit and bequeath them with prosperity, both material and spiritual. Mothers are seen as embodiments of Lakshmi, as they are responsible for the fortune and prosperity of the household and are especially honored by their families. Divali is also time to recognize important relationships by visiting relatives and friends, to exchange gifts and sweets. Lakshmi Puja, honoring and invoking the Goddess, is usually followed with Lakshmi Arti.

Speaker 1:

In Nepal, lakshmi Puja is an important component of the five-day festival of Tihar. Similar to Hindus in India, nepali Hindus celebrate by buying gold, silver, precious stones and new utensils for their kitchens and clean their homes to invite Lakshmi into their homes. The night of Lakshmi Puja. Puja is a Sanskrit ceremony, which invokes a deity chanting many, many mantras in Sanskrit. Goddess, lakshmi, is also celebrated during Navaratri, when she is remembered during the four through six nights of the nine night festival that occurred October 14th through 23rd 2023. On Divali, people wear new clothes and offer prayers in the evenings with their family members. Every year, nasa issues the Diwali pictures of India from space and it looks really amazing because the lights are glowing over the entire nation of India.

Speaker 1:

For those who are not familiar with Lakshmi, let me enlighten you. I have done several other podcasts that featured Lakshmi mantras. Go back and listen to them Sanskrit Mantras for Abundance and Prosperity, released in November 2021. Lakshmi's Garden Seed Prosperity, with Sanskrit Mantras, released on April 9, 2021. Sanskrit Mantras for Wealth, released on October 7, 2020. And last year's Prosperity Mantras for Ecliptic Times, released in October 2022.

Speaker 1:

The Goddess of Prosperity. Lakshmi inspires much devotion. There are many accounts of her creation, but the most popular one is found in the Ramayana, though there are older accounts in both the Vedas and Puranas. She is said to have wafted out of the ocean of milk which was churned by both the devas gods and the Rakshasas, the demons, in a quest to obtain Amrita, the nectar of immortality. Since her appearance, she has captured the hearts of Hindus and become a central figure in Hindu lore.

Speaker 1:

She is often depicted sitting upon a lotus and adorned with lotus at her hands and feet. Many of her names are Padma, kamala, ambuja, and they refer to the lotus. The lotus has powerful symbolism in Hinduism. While its roots are in the mud, its stalk rises clearly through the murky water, with its petals blossoming above untouched by the mud. It is a symbol of rising above the material world through divinity, of being good in the midst of negative influences. Like the lotus, as the goddess of prosperity, lakshmi shows us how to transcend material wealth for spiritual progress. The lotus is also a symbol for purity, fertility and beauty. She is often shown with four hands, which are meant to represent the four goals of life, also known as the four aims of life Kama, love, artha, material gains, dharma purpose, right living and Moksha liberation. They are said to also symbolize the four Vedas. She wears a red sari with gold thread, again representing wealth, beauty and fertility. Coins rain down from her palms as she smiles blissfully. There are often elephants in the background who represent power and hard work. Lakshmi is often referred to as Shri, and her symbol is the Shri Yantra, a geometric design with many overlapping triangles, which represents her a material prosperity. She is the wife of Vishnu the preserver, and her avatars accompany many of his Together. They are Sita and Rama and Rukmini with Krishna. Lakshmi is recognized in eight forms, known as Ashta Lakshmi. Ashta in Sanskrit means eight. There are eight manifestations of Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of prosperity. She presides over eight sources of wealth Spirituality, material wealth, agriculture, royalty, knowledge, courage, progeny and victory.

Speaker 1:

Stay tuned when we come back and I will teach you five Lakshmi mantras. So now's the time when you're going to learn Lakshmi mantras. I'm going to chant each one 27 times, but as you know from previous Sanskrit mantra podcasts, it is recommended that you chant each mantra 108 times. 108 times is a very special number. It is a full mala, or the beautiful necklaces of beads, malas we count mantras on. So I'll start you off with 27 repetitions of each mantra. Repetition of mantra is called japa in Sanskrit, but I recommend you do 108 of each mantra or you can just listen to me chanting them and receive the transmissions of the mantra.

Speaker 1:

The first mantra that we will chant for Lakshmi is om shreem kleem maha Lakshmiye swaha. It is the foundation Lakshmi mantra to the feminine power of manifestation, with the seed sound shreem for Lakshmi and kleem for attraction. So the mantra I'll break it down om universal consciousness, shreem, seed sound for Lakshmi, the goddess of abundance. Kleem seed sound for attraction. Maha means great Lakshmi, the name of our deity, our principle of abundance. Yay, that brings shakti up the spine or enhances the divine feminine life force. And swaha, which is the salutation. So the full mantra is om shreem kleem maha Lakshmiye swaha.

One of my teachers inspires me that if you want to get the attention of the God as our God or deity, you do their Gayatri mantra. In this case, as I chant the Lakshmi Gayatri, lakshmi is going to listen. The words for all the mantras will be in the show notes.

If performed twice per day, wealth and success will issue forth to you. If one contemplates this hymn three times per day, the great adversary will be overcome and Mahalakshmi will be eternally pleased with such a one. I offer this prayer to Mahalakshmi. To that too.
