Catherine Cochrane, Empowering ourselves with financial literacy

Catherine Cochrane, the daughter of an accountant who believed Catherine could do anything (in true Scottish form) insisted she have a trade to fall back on.  In this case…it was bookkeeping. And she was right – bookkeeping jump-started her 40 year IT career and is now the foundation for planning her next life-phase.

Her background includes:

• Bachelor of Science degrees in math and education and a Masters of Science in management focusing on intercultural communications.
• Certifications in
  • Financial Education instructor –
  • Project Management Professional
  • Wilderness First Responder (lapsed)
• Co-found and managed Vashon CERT for 12 years

 She is beginning her journey to empower people to expand their financial literacy; increase their confidence; and mitigate their risks.  Her approach combines both high-touch/low-tech exploring how our psychology influences our relationship with money and distill the tools and skills needed down to the essentials.  Her philosophy requires live interaction with her students in a safe, collaborative, and trusting environment.
