Show Notes

Episode two of the third season of the Podcast on Crimes Against Women continues our multi-episode series delving into the criminology of offenders. The second episode in this series welcomes author, investigator, psychologist, and president and founder of the LJS Training and Consulting Group, Dr. Lawrence Simon. For over a decade, Dr. Simon has interviewed and conducted research on hundreds of cold-blooded killers and violent sex offenders within the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and both the Alabama and Florida Department of Corrections. His most recent research endeavor has involved investigating psychological motivations of serial sexual homicide.

On this episode, Dr. Simon explores the mind of the sexual deviant killer. Dr. Simon goes on to break down the differences between sexual deviant killers vs. other criminals and the importance of this distinction, visits the factors that drive their crimes to be sexually motivated, and answers the question: "Can sexual deviant killers be rehabilitated?" Dr. Simon then goes on to discuss nature vs. nurture in sexual deviant killers, shares examples of infamous sexual deviant killers throughout recent history, and examines his own findings while interviewing inmates on Florida's death row for his books Murder by Numbers and Mortal Desire.
