No matter your age, gratitude is an important part of life. It’s easy to remember to thank some people - especially those you love and those who you see often. 

But there are so many people who work behind the scenes to make our lives better - we don’t want to forget to thank them for their hard work and make them feel seen and loved.

Being grateful and loving others is just another way for you to get to giving your best life.

Question of the day is who should you be showing gratitude? And you should always show gratitude to these people. And I think a lot of times these types of people um don't maybe get many things, maybe get looked over. And uh so today, on this episode, thank you for joining the Giving Your Best

Gratitude As A Daily Habit

Life podcast. I'm Stephanie Jones. Your host is I want you to think about gratitude in your life. This is something that you will hear me probably talk about constantly on this podcast, but it really is something is no matter your age, but this is really a good habit that you can turn into a lifestyle that will really um help you out throughout your life, um, not just in the good times, but in the hard times. And these are the people that over the next week, so whenever you listen to this and over the next week, and then I want you to just make this a habit of moving forward. But sometimes when we're working on habits, is we have to be very focused. We have to recognize, we kind of have to bring it to the front of our mind.

Thank Housekeepers And Cleaning Staff

Is I want you to focus on showing gratitude to housekeepers. So if you are at a college or when you go to college, as depending on when you listen to this, is pay attention who are cleaning your dormitories, cleaning the cafeteria, cleaning where you go to class, cleaning if you're at a Christian college, the chapels, any of those places, think your housekeepers and the cleaning staff.

Notice Groundsmen And Their Work

I also want you to think about the groundsmen, the people. I want you to think about anywhere you go out in public and you see beautiful manicured lawns and flowers and no weeds. Is there somebody that does that? And if you catch them in the act of doing their job, just go up, say thank you, compliment them on a job well done, and let them know you appreciate how beautiful everything looks.

Appreciate Janitors And Trash Collectors

We want to think about janitors. Um, you know, many people just I want you to think about people who have a thankless job. I liked a couple of years ago, back in 2021, when I was in the hospital, I would think the guy who and actually have a conversation, you know, like get to know these people, ask them their name, have them if they've got a little time. People love to talk about themselves. People love to be seen. Don't you love to be seen? Don't you love people to show an interest in you? And so when I was in the hospital, is um I the guy who came to uh change my trash, you know, just what's his name and have a little conversation and thank you. Isn't it important when we don't have trash piling up? If whoever is collecting your trash and your garbage and you get to see them, say thank you. Uh, maybe get them a little treat or a little goodie if you love to bake. All these people, you know, make them a little goodie, put a little card, go a little extra mile in your gratitude.

Go The Extra Mile With Thanks

It's so important to show the people around us uh gratitude and thank you, and not just the people that I think a lot of times, um, and I'm an I'm former law enforcement, my husband's in law enforcement. It's not to say is don't thank those people. Those people, though, a lot of people think of thanking your first responders,

thanking those who are serving in the military. But if you look at our world, there's a lot of people that make our world go round that we don't see and don't get recognized.
