Hello, everyone and again, welcome to the Marthoma Community Podcast. My name is George Mathew, and I'm so glad you found us today. If you're listening, chances are that you, like me, are a Marthomite, but in case you're not, here's some quick background.

The Mar Thoma Church is a Syrian Christian church based in the Indian state of Kerala, where the Apostle Thomas preached the gospel in AD 52. The Marthoma Church is one of several churches that traces back to the traditions of these teachings, and today you can find Marthoma churches and members of the church all over the world.

I myself grew up as a Marthomite in New York, and have continued as an active member, as I've moved around the country as of this recording in 2020 I'm based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with my wife and eight month old son, and through this podcast, I hope to engage with his many of you as I can to explore a community through conversations during each episode.

My goal is to bring you conversations with members from all different parts of the community to talk about what they would like to hear you, the church talk more about. We might explore traditions or might touch on current events or how the church is responding. But whatever we end up talking about, we don't have a show without you.
