Get The Hell Out of Your Life
Bonnie's Story: Trading Dread for Purpose
What if the loudest voice in your head isn’t the truest one? We open with a hard look at leadership and loyalty, then move into a deeply personal story that redefines success, courage, and faith. Bonnie shares how early loss, caregiving, and four miscarriages shaped her life, and how a breaking-point prayer led to a lasting peace she didn’t think was possible. She explains how lies of worthlessness were exposed as spiritual attacks, how she learned to take thoughts captive, and why that daily choice changed her mind, her body, and her future.
We walk through a chain of grace-filled moments: a family prayer for Disney on Ice tickets answered at just the right time, a lyric about cancer disappearing that coincided with a powerful inner assurance, and a follow-up oncology visit with no cancerous cells detected. Alongside the miracles, we talk about the steady disciplines that hold when circumstances shake—prayer, Scripture, and the science-backed practice of rewiring thought patterns. The foster story running through it all is striking: after four miscarriages, four foster children enter their home, and their growing faith becomes a living picture of redemption and purpose.
We also break down fear versus peace from a gospel lens. Perfect love casts out fear because, in Christ, punishment is off the table. That truth makes room for a sound mind, bold choices, and a future anchored in grace. Whether you’re battling anxiety, feeling stuck, or trying to lead with integrity, this conversation offers practical steps and honest hope: speak life, take thoughts captive, and choose the peace Jesus has already offered. If you’re ready to trade dread for purpose, your next step might be as close as a prayer.

It's time now to get the hell out of your life. A weekly broadcast with real people, sharing real struggles, and offering real hope. Today's show will encourage, inspire, and empower you to face life's challenges with a bold confidence and renewed hope. Now let's join our host, Ron Myers, the promoter.
Ron Meyers:Hello, my friends. It is so good to be with you. My name is Ron Myers. I'm the host of this show. It's all about bragging about Jesus, helping you to discover success in life with the power of faith, with walking with Jesus. God has an incredible plan for all of us. You know, I thought about that plan the other day with God for Lane Kiffen. Lane Kiffin, I know you know who he is. Now I kind of call him Lane Quitten. He quit on his team. He had a team that is going to the playoffs and possibly could be number one in the United States in college football, but he quit. How many times has that happened to you in your life? I know it's happened in my life. Years ago when I was in the Air Force. My wife liked the next door neighbor more than me and the two children. So she left me and two children. There's always a shiny, bright object out there trying to get our attention. You know, friends, there is nothing wrong with changing jobs. But if LSU, these are my thoughts, really wanted Lane Kiffin. Well, if I'm Lane Kiffin, I would say something to the effect. Well, listen, I will talk to you at the end of my season. But right now I am focused on becoming number one champion with my team. And I'm going to follow them all the way through the playoffs. And then if you're interested in me, I will have a conversation. You know, an honest conversation like that, instead of sneaking behind closed doors, not answering things at press conferences, and then just walking out one day, quitting on the team, flying to Baton Rouge with some of his assistant coaches, which I heard he told them either get on the plane or you're not coming at all. You know, this type of leadership style is really what's really, in my opinion, screwed up so many people in the workforce because everybody is thinking about themselves. You know, a lot of us, we've been burnt. We've been burnt in life by someone that loves us one day and the next day, well, they cast us aside like a piece of trash. Well, the good news is this Jesus will never do that with you. He is your coach, he is your leader, he has destined you for success. And this show is all about helping you walk in the power of what God has for you. Living the life of freedom, no guilt, no shame, no condemnation. The life of the finished works of Jesus. And my story today, wow, what a story. God is so awesome, my friends. I was talking to a lady the other day. Her family won tickets to Disney on ice. They have four foster children. And we were talking and she started sharing some of her backstory. And I said, Will you please hold a minute? And I went, turned on my equipment in my studio, brought the Bluetooth up through the recorder, and I said, Now, will you share your story with the world? You know, one thing I love about doing things in life, I do whatever I want to do in the sense of telling people about Jesus. I don't care how they react. I'm not into confrontation, I'm into good news, I'm into success. I want to share stories from other individuals that were in the trenches of life. It looked like all was falling apart. They had no hope. Everything was doom and gloom. But then Jesus stepped on the scene. I love it. And I share those stories with you because, friends, as long as I'm breathing, I will never give up on you. I want to help lead you into the promised land of success, of destiny, of purpose, of understanding that no matter what happens in life, God is with you, God is for you. So let's listen to Bonnie's story, and then when we're finished, I'll come back and wrap up the show and give you a pep talk for next week.
Bonnie:Yeah, I'd be more than happy to do that. I'm sorry, I just crying, but it's joy because I just so blessed to have a story that the Lord has given me to share. I grew up with just me and my dad. My mom had left when I was two, and then my grandmother kind of helped raise me on the weekends and everything. And it was always just mostly me and my dad. And he would we were so close. And when I was 15, he got diagnosed with uh stage four cancer, and I had to take care of him and go to high school at the same time. And when I say take care of him, I mean I was doing like everything, you know. At one point he was half paralyzed on half of his body. So I was like feeding him and bathing him, and it was a lot. And then he passed halfway through my senior year. He passed, and I had to watch him pass. And I went through a lot mentally as a kid. I struggled a lot with depression and anxiety and suicidal ideation, and it was very rough. Like I was just not in a good mental space. And then when he passed, I went to a rough situation with some people that I wasn't really close to. And then God also used that. I moved across country, and even though I didn't know it at the time, God was still so gracious in using that because if I would have not moved and my dad would have not passed, I would have never met my husband across state. And I was still not in a good mental space. And then a lot happened with my grandmother, and we wound up getting married after I graduated. And I graduated valedictorian. I was getting my work sent home with me, and I was in like AP classes and everything. So I graduated up there, top of my class. I graduated with like a 4.16 GPA, and it was, I don't know how I did it. It was really just by the grace of God, because looking back, I'm like, I there was no way I did that at all. And I know he would have been so proud and he would have loved to see me graduate. But when we got married, we moved down to take care of my grandmother. And so I went from caring for one parent to caring for another one because she was basically my mother. And we cared for her for the first five years of our marriage. And we were, you know, not mature yet in the faith. Obviously, you know, I had biblical foundation. I'd been saved and everything before, but I just didn't have that true knowledge of the word. And so when my grandmother passed five years after taking care of her, I was the one that found her that morning. I woke up and so I had to see her pass as well. And I was in my early 20s, like 23, 22, something like that. And just losing so much. And also, we in between that time, our first five years of marriage, I had four uh four miscarriages. We lost children. Uh, it was all really early, but it was still a loss. And it was just like so much was going on, but God used that experience with my grandmother with losing her to finally wake me up because I had the means to end my life after her funeral, like after everything was taken care of, I just kind of broke down. And I had the means to end my life. And I remember crying out to God and just going, like, God, give me clarity, like, please, I can't do this anymore. Like, if you don't do something right now, it's I can't, I can't keep going. And I was definitely at the end of myself. And, you know, there's that saying, like, good, you've reached the end of yourself. Now I can start my work. And he just revealed everything to me and he cured me of my depression and anxiety. I never knew that there was a life with just pure joy and peace that just surpasses all understanding. And when he healed me, he revealed to me that all those voices in my head that I had been struggling with my whole life, telling me things like I'm worthless and I should just end it because nobody's gonna care. And all of those thoughts in my head, he revealed to me that those were not just my inner monologue, those were not just my thoughts, those were demonic attacks dressed up as my thoughts. And that's why it says in the word, you know, take each thought captive and make it subject to Christ, is because, and it it also talks about how we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but powers and principalities. That's what we're wrestling with, is our thoughts and the demonic attacks. And the enemy gets in our mind and uses that. And so when I started rebuking in the name of Jesus, all depression and anxiety, I was healed. Like he just healed me, he revealed it to me, gave me wisdom and clarity, and he just healed me. And it's a daily thing, you gotta wake up each day. The power of life and death is in the tongue and also in your mind, too, the thoughts that you think. And when you start taking thoughts captive, I know it's hard and it's a hard muscle to train, but it literally and science backs this up as well. It's neuroscience, it's proven for so for those of you that aren't believers, look into it because this is scientifically proven. When you start doing that and rewiring your brain and changing it, it changes your brain chemistry, it creates new neural pathways. And science is really just backing up what the Bible has already proven. The Bible already said thousands and thousands of years ago, you know, before we had this technology, to take these thoughts captive. And it's because it's the truth. Jesus says He is the truth, and He is, and you've got to do that, and you've got to just you gotta pray. If it wasn't for God, I would not be here today. And I'm so blessed.
Ron Meyers:And wow, wow, wow, wow, what a story! And I just met you with a leaf filter at the Christmas City gift show, knowing nothing of your background, but I knew something that weekend. You had put your name in for a drawing for Disney on ice tickets, didn't you?
Bonnie:Yes, I did.
Ron Meyers:And I remember taking I pulled a little child out of the audience somewhere and say, Hey, well, we're gonna pick out the winner of these tickets. And I called your name, and I remember you coming down. I still remember seeing that beautiful face with tears and saying, Thank you. This is an answer to prayer. What tell the listeners about your prayer about winning those tickets?
Bonnie:We uh we had gotten these children and foster children, foster children, right?
Ron Meyers:You had four.
Bonnie:Yeah, yes. And we had just been praying, you know, about Lord, if it's your will, you know, the kids really want to go to Disney. And I'm like, I know it's a lot, and we don't really have the money, and just whatever your will is, it it make a way. And then these kids didn't really grow up a lot in the faith, too. And so the middle child, he really prayed too. I watched him pray one night about Disney, and I was like, man, this is that's so awesome that he's praying, you know. And you know, a couple weeks later we go to the show. It's it's toward the end of the show, too. I'm not expecting this at all. This is like what the last couple hours of the show, maybe the last 30 minutes, something like that. It's all it's closing down soon. And so we're walking around with my brother-in-law, and he's he's not of the faith either. And so when they called my name, I hit the floor. Like I just started praising Jesus in the middle of the aisle. People were looking at me like I was crazy, and I was just like just praising God, and I was crying, and then they got me up and they were like, Look, you gotta go up there and get the tickets, and I'm like, Yeah, and I took the kids and I'm like, Come on, and then we went up there and I remember meeting with you, and the kids were just so happy. I was still crying. I was trying to like hold it together, but I was like just so overjoyed. And I just remember the Lord speaking to me in that moment and being like, you know, what I've done here is not for you, it's for my glory to be seen through it. And I could tell that my brother-in-law, he was like wrestling with coming up with an answer for like what had just happened because we shared about praying for it. And, you know, he was trying to rack his brain, I could tell, but I I feel like that moment really impacted him and that the Lord was using that moment. And you didn't know this, but I I just haven't really shared with people about this because I didn't want to claim it. And that's another part of like power of life and death in the tongue and and the thoughts in your mind. But I had gotten a call months back from my doctor, you know, saying that they had found an M spike in my blood work, which is like cancerous cells. And I know the old me would have been freaking out, I was super anxious, I would have, I would have fallen apart. But when they told me that, I just had this piece about it, and I just didn't really worry about it. And then that day after we got the tickets, we were driving home and I was playing the song Too Good to Not Believe by Brandon Lake. And there's a part in the song where it says, I've seen cancer disappear. And that instant, when I tell you, I felt the Lord, and I just started crying in the car, like praising him. And I knew I was healed in that moment. Like nobody had to tell me. I knew I was healed. And I got home that afternoon and I told my husband, because he had to work, but I told him when I saw him again, I was like, you know, I I'm healed, like I feel it. This is what happened, and I know the Lord has healed me. And he says, I know too. I don't know how he knew too, but he just like, he's like, I know too. And then three days later, I had a visit at the oncology office, and they pull out my blood work, and they're like, There's no cancer cells anymore. And I was just like, I just knew it was so I was like, Oh my gosh, like, thank you, Jesus. Like, I there's so much, and and right now, my father-in-law, even through this, my father-in-law, he just passed yesterday, and God is still so good. And back then, I would have been falling apart right now, just through all of this. And I just praise God because even through this, we are praising the Lord because we know that his plan is better than our plan, and his ways are better than our ways, and there's a purpose in everything, every loss, everything we perceive is loss. He is working for the good.
Ron Meyers:Amen. And wow, wow, you got me fired up there, Bonnie. You know, I will never forget the face on those beautiful, precious children when they came up to get the tickets. They're young. What are their ages?
Speaker 7:Um, the oldest is eight, the middle is seven, and the youngest are five.
Ron Meyers:And that's four of them. And these are foster children, right?
Speaker 7:Yes.
Ron Meyers:You know, I thought it was amazing because I put the two and two together. You had four miscarriages, but yet, and now you have four foster children. Wow. Sounds like God was telling you something there, telling me something anyway.
Speaker 7:Yeah, and you know, I I can't really talk too much about the case because of confidentiality, but you know, I don't know for certain how long they're gonna be with us. But uh, what I do know is that just based on on their reaction the other day when everything happened with my father-in-law, I know that we've made an impact in their lives. And I have seen their faith grow. And that is just more than I could ever dream or hope for. And I'm just so thankful that the Lord trusted us with this important task, even though I didn't think that I could do it. It was a lot, it was a lot of challenges.
Ron Meyers:Does it look like you'll get to um possibly adopt them?
Speaker 7:Uh I don't think so. But if it's his will, it'll happen.
Ron Meyers:So right now it's just you're the foster parents and you're taking care of them as long as the Lord has you in their life.
Speaker 7:Yes, sir. And uh goodness, I don't know what's gonna happen, but I do know that whatever is going to happen, the Lord is going to protect these children. And it doesn't matter if they leave my care or not, I know they are going to always find their way back to the Lord. I have prayed over them so much.
Ron Meyers:It's amazing. And I am personally going to help them or help you, and I want to do this, and you can't talk me out of it. Help them with some Christmas gifts this year. You have just been a bright light to a dark world, Bonnie. And to hear this story is just reassuring at this time of Christmas that I don't care what anyone is going through, Jesus is enough. Jesus is enough. Isn't Jesus enough, Bonnie?
Speaker 7:Yes, he's more than enough. And I don't think we realize how fortunate we are just to have the ability to be literate and be capable of reading the Bible and being in the country that we're in, and you know, having the freedom to worship him and seek him out. Like we just don't realize all the blessings that are laid upon us, even when everything seems dark. We are so blessed beyond measure.
Ron Meyers:Amen. Amen. And Bonnie, as I I close out our visit, will you pray for anything you want to pray for? Pray for the listeners, your children. Just pray however the Lord's leads your heart.
Speaker 7:Yes, yes, Father God, please just speak through me, Lord. And I just ask that you, as your humble servant, that you just pour out your spirit on everyone listening, on everyone not listening, on their family. Dear Lord, I just ask that you just fill our cups so that they may be overflowed with you, so that we may pour out onto others, so that we may do what you've asked us to do and make disciples of all nations, Lord. And I just ask, Father God, if there is anyone that does not know you, that they come to know you, dear Jesus. Just please, I just pray revival. We know we've been feeling that the time is getting near, dear Lord. And I just know that you are bringing your children to you. So I just ask that it be done in Jesus' name. And I just ask that anyone that is mourning, that they be comforted for you are great and wonderful comforter, dear Lord, for anyone that is struggling, that they know that you are always providing, Lord, even when the world says otherwise and their circumstances around them seem dire, dear Lord. Help them to take their eyes off the storm and to focus on you so that they may step out onto the water in faith, dear Lord. And I just ask that you provide for them. We know that we are so loved and treasured more than rubies, Lord. You provide for the birds of the air and how much more precious are we. We know that you will provide for us and work everything to your good, Lord. And so I just ask that that be done and that people be comforted and strengthen them to put on the full armor. And to take every thought captive. Cut any branch from all of us that needs to be cut and pruned, dear Lord, and grow your fruits of the Spirit. Increase your spirit within us, Lord. We just hunger and thirst for you. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, Yeshua, I just pray that your will be done. Amen.
Speaker:You're listening to Get the Hell Out of Your Life with your host, Ron Myers. Real stories, real struggles, and real hope.
Ron Meyers:Can fear and peace coexist within you at the same time? Well, let's explore that today on destined for success. Fear and peace are diametrically opposed, and understanding their relationship is key to living in the freedom that Christ offers. In the new covenant, God calls us to experience his peace, which surpasses all understanding. This peace is rooted in the truth that we are fully forgiven, completely loved, and eternally secure in Christ. Fear often arises from forgetting or misunderstanding these truths. 1 John 4.18 reminds us that perfect love casts out fear. Because fear involves punishment. And as believers, we know that Jesus has taken all punishment for our sins. So we don't need to fear God's anger or judgment. While life circumstances can make us feel anxious, we are encouraged to bring our worries to God in prayer, trusting Him to provide peace and comfort. The Holy Spirit within us resures us of our secure position in Christ, helping us rest in his love and grace. So, friend, if you're feeling a mixture of fear and peace, it might be a sign to refocus on the truth of God's love and the finished work of Jesus. Remember, his peace is always available to you, and his spirit is there to guide you through any anxiety you might face.

Ron Meyers:Welcome back, listeners. A few weeks ago, I recorded a program created for success. The power of faith. That's right. God has created you for success, and I go into detail about the power of faith. I have people that have listened to that and told me, Ron, that was the most amazing thing I ever heard. And friends, it really is because it shares my experience with Jesus and the power of faith and how it opened doors, how it gave me ideas. See, God created each individual on this planet for success. Now, success is different to everybody, but success is a personal thing. And sometimes, friends, I don't think the church is telling you all you need to know about the freedom you have in Christ, about your purpose, about your destiny, about how he is your best bud, and he is going to help you discover your destiny. Because one thing that God knows, one thing that Jesus knows, the more you are walking in the freedom of Christ and the power in your passion, you don't have a desire to sin. You don't have a desire to go on to the dark side because you're having so much fun in the light, you never want to go back to that dark side because it brings those heebie jeebies when you think about them and say, No way, I've been there, done that, have the t-shirt, I'm staying in the life, I'm doing what. Coach Ron, that's right, Coach Ron for 2026 is telling you to hold on to Jesus as if your life depends on it, because it does. He's your oxygen, he will not quit on you, he will not kick you out of his relationship with you. You are safe for eternity. You are totally forgiven if you are a believer in Jesus, and it only takes Jesus. I believe in you. Whatever conversation you want to have to invite Jesus into your life. Why not do that today?
Speaker 4:Fear has a way of paralyzing us, doesn't it? Fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of the unknown. These anxieties can keep us from living the life God intended for us. But the Bible has good news about fear. 2 Timothy 1.7 tells us, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind. Fear is not from God. When you belong to Jesus, you have access to his forgiveness, his power, his love, and his peace. This doesn't mean you'll never feel afraid, but it means fear doesn't have to control your decisions. You can face uncertainty with confidence because you know God is with you. You can take risks because you trust in his faithfulness. Are you tired of fear holding you back? Ready to experience the freedom that comes from trusting Jesus completely? Call or text Need Him Global at 888-633-3446. Speak with someone who can help you overcome fear through faith in Jesus. That's 888-633-3446. Freedom is just a conversation away.
Speaker 2:How do you get the hell out of your life? Get on your knees and cry out to the Lord. He hears you right where you are.
Speaker 1:How to get the hell out of your life? Well, yeah, replace it with Jesus. We gotta be born again, born of the Spirit, and that's by trusting Jesus Christ, turning from our sins and trusting Jesus. How do you get the hell out of your life? Oh gosh.
Ron Meyers:Jesus. Jesus. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
Speaker 1:Turn to Jesus.
Ron Meyers:Well, listeners, as we wrap up today's program, I want to remind you that the power of faith allows you to live a life of peace, passion, and purpose. And with 2026 on the horizon, I am all about having a life of peace, passion, and purpose. And in 2026, you're going to hear more on me helping you walk that life of success that God has created you for. I'm very optimistic about the future. So join me each week right here on this show, Get the Hell Out of Your Life, available on your favorite podcast platform.
