Lakota People, Traditions & Prayers - Thomas Horse
Show Notes

Historically, the Lakota have a rich oral tradition to preserve the legends and stories that maintained their spiritual way of life. Creation stories were known only among the holy men, who passed them down through the generations. No single holy man knew all the creation myths.  Elders shared tales with young ones to preserve the culture and ensure the continuation of a people.

Thomas Horse, a Lakota member,  shares the importance of traditions and language and offers prayers.   Spirituality is a vital component of traditional Lakota living.  Wakan Tanka - the Great Spirit - receives thanks for everything on Earth.  He also sings his Sundance song along with his drum. Thomas does not claim to be a spokesperson for Lakota but simply offering an opportunity to share the beautiful prayers of the Lakota.
