The Journey of Yes with Brenda Palmer
What does it really cost to say yes to God?
The Journey of Yes with Brenda Palmer is a Christian podcast about what happens when faith moves beyond what we believe and starts shaping how we actually live.
Each episode features honest conversations about radical obedience: the call that didn’t make sense, the step that required sacrifice, the season nobody applauded, and what was discovered on the other side of saying yes.
Brenda Palmer, author of The Journey of Yes: The Everyday Adventure of Radical Obedience, minister, and faith-based creator, sits down with leaders, creatives, couples, entrepreneurs, and everyday believers to unpack the real stories behind their obedience to God.
Together, we’re talking faith, calling, purpose, relationships, entrepreneurship, ministry, spiritual growth, and what it looks like to follow Jesus when obedience actually costs you something. Because saying yes to God isn’t always easy, but it’s always an invitation to know Him more.

What does it look like to surrender your creativity to God?
In Episode 4 of The Journey of Yes, Brenda Palmer sits down with creative entrepreneur Kendra Taul for a conversation about creativity, business, influence, identity, and partnering with the Holy Spirit.
Kendra shares how God took her from survival mode into building a growing creative platform, not through chasing trends or opportunities, but by inviting Him into the process and asking, “What do You want to do with this?”
Together, they unpack the responsibility that comes with influence, developing your gifts with excellence, protecting what you consume, navigating hard seasons, and learning when God is giving you a new strategy for a new season.
They also challenge creatives to move beyond individualism, competition, and hustle and rediscover the power of holiness, service, surrender, and community.
Because a creative yes isn’t simply asking God to bless your ideas. It’s giving Him access to your imagination, your gifts, your business, your platform, and your plans.
Season 1, Episode 4: A Creative YesFeaturing Kendra Taul
Hey guys, welcome to The Journey of Yes. This week we're sitting down with Kendra Tall, one of our generation's leading voices in creativity and entrepreneurship. This is the creative yes. Kendra. Hi. Hi. Hi. How are you? I'm doing well. Thank you for the invitation. Of course. I'm glad we finally got to do this. Come on, green braids. Oh, come on. I love it. I love it. I love the it's just it's personality. It's giving I'm me and accepts me as I am. Here I am. Can't be anybody. I am here. Come on. I love that. Yeah. Man, first of all, I think I came across your content because it used to just be slapping me in the face when you were making like the words and the in the graphics. And I'm like, I'm gonna post this and I'm gonna tag you because this ain't my original thought. All right, praise the Lord. Saints. Um, but I love what I love about your ministry is that I'm I'm a creative, and I think sometimes we limit how God can use us, right? So when we hear ministry, we hear I'm called, we think microphone platform stage people.
SPEAKER_02Yes, right.
SPEAKER_01And I think that in 2026, everywhere is a platform. Everything that you do as a believer is ministry. Um, but I love that your the grace on your life amplifies that even my creativity is something that needs to be surrendered to the Lord and used that way.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_01And so I'm inspired by how you show up um online, uh equipping people, right? Not just with business models and tools, but equipping the saints. And so let's talk a little bit about that. Like where, as it relates to that, where does your journey of yes begin?
SPEAKER_00Um intentionally, I would say it began in 2020. Um, I've always gone to church um with my grandmother on the weekends. I always say I'm like a dual church kid because we were at on the weekends, we were my with my grandmother, but on the weekday, we were like doing all kinds of stuff. Yeah, we were outside. My parents, um, they both overcame drug addiction. So my mother, she overcame drug addiction and my father. So I was actually in rehab facilities with my parents. Wow. Um, and that gave me the heart that I have for just everyday people. And I would say, like, I never saw myself being in business. I never saw myself building a brand. I've never like that just not how I saw myself. I tell people all the time, I grew up in survival mode. Wow. So that is like my autopilot default, if it was not for the Holy Spirit that like really catapulted me into something else. But intentionally, 2020, I feel like because everybody, right? The pandemic happened. Pushed us all into it, pushed us, it pushed us all into it. But really, practically because I had never had money coming out of nowhere before. And the stimulus money, I was like, okay, I can, yeah, I can ball out on like DoorDash and like things like that. Or like, Lord, tell me what do you want me to do with this money? And he put it on my heart to move from Seattle, Washington to Dallas, Texas. Wow. And from there, I just started the journey of, okay, God, what do you want me to do with this? Inviting him into the process of building the business, building the platform. Lord, what are your thoughts? And I lost my dad in 2021. And after losing my dad, I heard the Lord say, get up, go to your computer and just create with me. And I started opening up Canva, and that became like my digital diary, my digital journey, journal. And once I started posting the things that I was actually creating, it just started growing. Wow. And I wasn't like trying to make it happen. It was just like, okay, Lord, this is what you want. This is what you want to happen. Let's go. You know, so that's kind of where my intentional journey started.
SPEAKER_01For sure. I love that. I love that. I love that so much because so, like so often, once your platform grows, people are like, What did you do? What was the strategy? I'm like, yo, I was just obedient. Like, and I'm not making that up. Obedient, I was definitely in the strategy. Obedient and consistent, right? Because there is obedience, but then there's also a consistency that I realized opened doors for me. Because I was not trying to, I was minding my business. Like, I wasn't trying to become whatever people think we are. I'm just obedient. And sometimes it just manifests in ways that are like, Whoa, whoa. And I'm like, no, y'all just out here following the Lord. Because that's really what happened. Like, I had a TikTok, I had seven followers, and I had an Instagram, and maybe I had somewhere between five to seven K. Okay. And someone else took my sermon clip and posted it on TikTok and it went viral. Wow. And so my mom's friends were calling her saying, I saw Brenda preaching on the what? Like, Brenda preaches? Like, what's going on? Because it was probably my third sermon. So I was like, I don't even have a TikTok. And I don't really like TikTok either. And then I remember like getting on there, I posted one video because the Lord told me to post it. And almost immediately it takes off. Wow. I have a friend, Stephanie. She calls me, she's like, hey, there's a video where I talk about these handprints that appeared in my bathroom. And I'm like, I had an encounter with the Lord. Like, handprints on my mirror, and they stayed there for months. And I talk about it in a sermon, like preaching in a way that says, the same God that we experience in scripture will like He will visit you like that to create an expectation. And she's like, You need to post that video. I'm like, that's crazy. You weren't trying to. That don't need to be on the internet. And she's like, no, I feel like the Lord is saying you need to post it. And in within less than seven days, I went from seven followers to 13,000. And then maybe five days after that, I went from 13,000 to 23,000. Wow. And I'm like, y'all, I didn't have a the next video I posted was about like praying for people with thyroids and clipped to a person who had thyroid cancer. And after the prayer, which was the most simple prayer, the Lord said, Pray. Thank me for healing them. So I literally said, Lord, we thank you that by your stripes we are healed in Jesus' name. And six weeks later, she goes back to the doctor. She had three nodules. They were so small they couldn't measure them. And the largest one had basically shrunk. And so I'm like, I post that clip instantly viral again. Because it is not about chasing a trend, it is about what the Lord wants to say and who will trust him enough to partner with him to release the thing that is aligned with what he wants to say. I've seen that. I've seen myself post a video that I wanted to post, and I'm like, just 300 likes. Cause he's like, because this is now a platform and this is a ministry. This don't belong to you. Not at all. And you have like, I think that that is one thing that creatives could learn is like how we submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit on what to post and what to say, what not to say, what not to post, because now this is a vehicle in which the Lord wants to communicate and he's just deciding to use you as a vessel.
SPEAKER_00That is so good. I mean, think about God being an architecture, the master architecture. Architectures use tools. Yes. If the platform is the tool, if the creativity is the tool, that means that he has an idea for how to use the tool and navigate the tool. And I know our generation has become so platform numbers analytics focused. For sure. But like think about the one person that Jesus encountered at the well that brought in the other tribe of people. The power of one is so significant. And it's not this like cliche thing. It truly is like one person. But for the people that are in like called for the masses, like you said, it happened overnight and the Lord did that. And I think that that's kind of like the intersection of where I like talking because yeah, we can say only if one person, great. But what if 13,000 more people come? How do you steward that? How do you handle that? How do you navigate that? And I believe that the Holy Spirit has a plan for that. So I think that that's that happened to me too. Like out of nowhere, boom, my page just started growing by the thousands. I was like, I literally grabbed my phone and I was like, babe, I don't know what's happening right now. But it's like my Instagram just started blowing up over things that I would not consider that were significant. Not that great. And I'm like, you're like, bro, this ain't that great. Yeah, and my page didn't start off with like a sermon. It was, it started off with graphics and people just started seeing that. And then I felt responsible for how many people came because I'm like, okay, Lord, people are here. I have to navigate this in a way that glorifies you, or I feel like I've done you a disservice if I don't lead people to where I come from, what you've done, my testimony, because I'm very unorthodox. I didn't go to college. Yeah, I don't have all these certific uh certifications. I've been in places that I'm like, how in the world did I get an invitation here? I'm on panels with people that have master degrees, um, they're doctors. I'm just the girl that, and it's not just, but you know what I mean when I say that. Like, I'm the girl that's like I had prostitutes on my street. Like, that is who, that is where I come from. And the fact that the Lord can take someone like that and put them in a place where now they have eyes on them. It like you want to navigate that responsibly. For sure.
SPEAKER_01I I love what you're saying though, because it is, um, it makes me think about the scripture that says, uh, let your light so shine before men, and they will see your good works and glorify your father in heaven, right? So it's like, yeah, no, we need the testimony that says, Ain't no way I should be where I'm at, right? And then we we look at you and you are not just where you are, but you are successful in where you are. And then you go, Oh, I know nobody did that but God, right? It's like, and and this idea that we gotta have it all figured out, that we gotta have the degree, that we gotta have someone stamping us. And I've been studying Moses uh lately, and just the idea that Moses goes, Who am I that I should go talk to Pharaoh? The Lord does not even respond to that question. He goes, But I'll be with you.
SPEAKER_00Am I not the guy that made the mouth?
SPEAKER_01Who that question gets me? Who is Pharaoh? Who is who he's like, Who am I that I should go talk to Pharaoh? He's like, I'm gonna be with you. Ugh. I'm gonna be with you. And and me being with you will be a sign that I sent you. And so I think there is this way that we sometimes make it to a certain position because of our gifting, and we forget, no, no, no, God put me here. And I think it's really important that we always drive that point. I didn't do any of this on my own. I know y'all want me to be on the panel, but you go, I'm gonna be a letdown because I'm gonna get there and tell you it was the Lord. I I just I really don't got a strategy for you, other than like the Lord will be like, post this, and I'm like posting it, or I'm going through a video and something catches my spirit, and I'm like, ah, that needs to go out, right? It's not, I'm it's not deep. The I guess the best advice I could give you is like be consistent. Yeah. Because consistency is what won the game when it should win. I don't it don't be winning now because I'd be over it. Okay. I have to resist the urge to deactivate every day. Yeah. I'm like, I just don't wanna. Wow. Wow. And so I think that like there is this way that we go, no, I'm not qualified for this. I I didn't go to semi-I mean, I went to seminary for like a year and a half, but it was after I had been preaching for I'm you know, I'm a half theologian. You really are. I have a year and a half left, and I'm like, Lord, I don't know if I need to go back. Well, you know, but I say that to say I was the least likely in my mind to ever be doing that. Um, and and so I think there is this way that we go, I am a tool in the hand of God, but also he has equipped me for the manner in which he desires to use me.
SPEAKER_00I mean, and let's be clear, like, even us having this conversation, we are not people that are, I would say, not trained and skilled in what we do. For sure. So, like sitting with the Holy Spirit practically, he showed me what it meant to practice my skill at the seed form, yes, and then allow it to be cultivated. And it made me masterful in an actual skill set. Yes, communication. Like I would say you are a master communicator, the way that you talk, and by the grace of God. For sure. You can totally, though, be in rooms with like Google and Microsoft and Apple. Um, I saw that the Lord giving me this idea of like, what I've given you is not just for people in the church. What I've given you is actually for the lost. And when you walk in the room, because you've been transformed by my spirit and because you have a revelation of the cross that most people do not, you walk in, you talk different. It actually changes and manifests to your countenance. And those things, like I don't go into every room speaking in tongues, for sure, right? Um, most rooms I am using the tool of creativity, yeah, but I see all the time that like Jesus used a tool of fish, yes, loaves, yes, water, wine at a wedding. These are all evangelism tools. Yeah. And so, like, when I'm being invited into a university to speak and lead this group of people that are not believers, at the end of the presentation, they will know based off of the context of what I'm saying, oh, she's not like the other people that came in. So sitting with the Holy Spirit will actually train you skillfully because I don't want people to think like, oh yeah, the Lord does everything. No, you have to partner with him. Yeah, for sure. That's really important. And then you become like masterful, and not that it glorifies yourself in any sense because we know that everything we are is because he is. For sure. But in the like in the in, I guess, a secular space, I would say, they don't know the depth of all of those spiritual things. For sure. They're just like, wow, you're a great speaker. Wow, you're great. So, like sitting with the Holy Spirit was training me skillfully in the area of brand development, graphic design, now AI and marketing and social media. I didn't have all that language then. And it it came with a lot of sacrifice. God told me to stop talking on the phone so much. God told me to stop watching everything, like all of the shows. Insecure was like my favorite show. And the Lord was like, Shut it down, shut it down.
SPEAKER_01I tried to go back and watch it and went, I really watched it.
SPEAKER_00I was like, I was not. And wondering why you be struggling at 3 a.m. Come on, come on. Even as a married woman, I'm like, why am I thinking this? I tried to run it back. I said, There's no way I survived this. I was like binging that show over and over and over. And the Lord is like, so you see how that show is producing false imaginations in your mind? I say, Yeah. He said, the same way that that show is producing false imaginations in your mind, I desire you to sit in my presence and understand and see my imagination process within you. So I saw that like creativity and imagination is powerful. Yeah. You can sit in a room that glorifies God and you will see your imagination manifest into something else. You can sit in a room that I think I said glorifies God, that doesn't glorify God and it does the same thing. So, like for me, I was like, I need to use my creativity in the way that you've designed it to be. And like people always wonder, why am I burnt out? Why am I creatively overwhelmed? Why do I feel like I don't have any ideas? Well, if we look at the pattern of what you're watching, talking about consuming every day, we would probably find those things. And I was really, because I'm so creative, I love watching creative things. The Lord took all of that from me. Wow. And once he took that from me and I was willing to like actively agree to his system for my lifestyle, it's almost like my mind started seeing ideas that I did not have in previous seasons.
SPEAKER_01No, that's so good. What you gotta guard the gates. I just I preached that on Sunday, like how the Lord invites Moses and He's like, take your shoes off. This is holy ground. And I'm like, we are now the holy ground. So your ears, holy ground. Like what you watch, the holy ground. Like, so when you have that, it's like I when I understand what I carry because I carry God, right? There's a way I need to protect it, right? And I just can't, I can't give it to everybody, but I also can't allow anything to infiltrate it, to pervert it. Because then you'll think you perverting from the Lord, I mean, creating from the Lord, but what you're watching is perverting that. And so then it is not as potent as it needs to be to reach the places. I want to go back to what you said about our participation and what the Lord does, because it is so true. Like it it shocks me because people will say, You're such a great communicator. And I'm like, I'm just talking. Like the very first time I preached, they're like, Wow. And the way your tone went, I was like, I promise you, I'm not thinking about it. Like, I didn't even know I did that. I'm just talking, right? And I think like there is this way that God wired us and framed us for the assignment that we were called to in the earth, right? So there is this way that when you partner with the Holy Spirit and you start taking those steps, he's just revealing you to you. It's like you shocked, he's not.
SPEAKER_00Not at all, right?
SPEAKER_01And it's like, but I've been, there's still things you have to do. When I first finished college, I thought I was gonna move to LA and I didn't. I stayed in Chicago. I had a dream, like a literal dream, and the Lord deposited in that dream a nonprofit. It was called Impact the Image, Bridging the Gap from Dreams to Careers, where I would introduce inner city youth to creative careers. Wow. I never took a business class. I was a communications major. Never took a business class. I did my own 501c3 application. That was like in 2014. So it was before they were all of these other things. I had never done that. And then I started speaking on panels about running a business, and that was not even my, that wasn't my vibe. Like I did not know what I was doing. I literally had a dream and I woke up and I told my mom, I was like, it was too specific to like for me to just think it was a dream. It was like, he told me who to put on the board, he told me how to form it, like what it would do. Wow. And I built an entire curriculum with no kids and no like no nothing. I literally said I have a nonprofit, ran into someone at a place, and there was this after-school program in inner city Chicago. They had sites, they had the kids, I had the curriculum. So then I was able to sign a contract with them for two summers and run their entire summer program with no again, again, y'all. That was that's not that's that's not me at all, right? And so like sometimes I forget. I'm like, I feel like I've lived nine lives. For sure. And I'm like, sometimes I forget, but you saying that is like also because the Lord's convicting me, because there, I feel like there's something he's pushing me into, and I'm like, I don't wanna, I don't wanna. And so you like, well, you could communicate at Google and at Apple. And I'm like, stop talking right now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because you do have a dual influence. It's not just for believers, yeah, you know, it's also for unbelievers. And that will bless them and bless you. Hello, for sure. Them corporate contracts. You're not, you're not telling me. You want to talk about funding a ministry. Listen, I said, okay, well, ministry is free. For sure. I don't believe in charging for prophetic words, charging for, you know, my prayer, all that. That is free. Lord, bless me in such a way that I'm not just provided through, but I'm I you are using me to provide for. Yeah, amen. Bless me in such a way that I can bless the church and bless people that can't pay me anything.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And I don't expect nothing from them. So them corporate contracts, my girl. Amen.
SPEAKER_01This is I've been getting prophetic word after prophetic word. Like it's it's almost annoying. And I'm going, Oh, I've been there. I'm like, what do you want me to do? Like, yeah, and I'm like, yeah, um, I was at the Doomuses church for Pentecost Sunday, and uh Apostle Taurus Solomon was there. Yes, and he's like, does not know who I am and calls me on. He's like, You've been wrestling with God, and he's like, I see you in business. I'm like, How many times are we gonna change careers? Like, I'm and I'm going, and he's like, Yeah, he was like, high achieving people struggle with stepping into new things because you don't know it. And I'm like, Yeah, because that ain't that's not a bag I want to be in. But lately, I feel like the Lord's been placing a demand, and I'm like, Well, I should probably prepare for what is coming because I don't have a I'm not prepared, and so like, yeah, I think it is that it is creatives having to be um, we said this on another episode, but open-handed, right? Like you're the vessel, and God can pull on anything at any moment, and although it is uncomfortable, you gotta be okay with going, I'ma still say yes.
SPEAKER_00I'll say yes, Lord.
SPEAKER_02Yes, I don't like you.
SPEAKER_00Even the language though, agreeing like with your language first, even if you don't feel it, that would bring things uh to you faster as well. And I I know because I used to be like, God fuck, why? He's like, Because I said it. That's enough because I'll do it when when I want it to have be when I want it to be done, I I will do it in my time. So I I'm looking forward to seeing you in multiple sectors, especially curriculum writing. No easy thing. Like, I started um a program called Kids Wall Street. Okay, my goodness, curriculum writing is a gift. So if you have been gifted in that area, it was so long ago. And it's for now. You know how many people are leaving the school system? Hello.
SPEAKER_01No, for real. No, for real. It's crazy. Yeah. I want to talk a little bit about hard seasons. Oh boy. That are behind the yes, right? Because there's the excitement of like jumping into something new and watching the Lord do all the things, but like what happens when it gets hard?
SPEAKER_00I feel like I'm currently navigating a hard season. Um and not hard traditionally, like most people would say a hard season would be. I mean, hard season comes in many shapes and sizes. But I I think um right now I have personally just been retreating with the Lord. Um I used to run from silence. I used to run from like sitting still. I was definitely a busybody. Like even as a married woman, I was always at somebody's house, always on the phone, always wanted to be outside. And I think this also comes with age, too. Because once you start getting older, you're like, hey, I don't want to go who's gonna be there. I want to be at home. All this, you know, this luxurious uh mortgages and rents we pay. I'm enjoying my I'm enjoying my lease. Hello? But yeah, no, like for me, navigating hard seasons looks different depending on what you're navigating. Um like relationally hard seasons, like currently, I feel like I'm navigating a relationally hard season. Um, and that just means that like transitions are happening within my relationships and it's not what it used to be. So I'm navigating like, okay, how do I engage with this person? What is this, who is this person now to me? Yeah. Um, because when the Lord starts elevating you or changing you or shifting you, even like if you're heavy in ministry, which I feel like a lot of my life right now is, there's a lot of just internal, I think, solitude you need with the Holy Spirit. For sure. Because if so many people are in your ear, you're always in around this person, that person, you can become influenced by the people that you're around. And not even that it's always bad what they're saying. Sometimes you just need to sit with the Holy Spirit to get his individual advice for you. For sure. So, like for me, um, I think like for me, I'm being restored in in solitude. Like I see in scripture when Jesus was surrounded by people in ministry, and then after that ministry would happen, they said he would go away to retreat and to be with the Lord. And it doesn't always look like a prayer show over my head and in a closet. I mean, every day is different because I'm a wife and I'm a mom. For sure. So I have to still fulfill those roles and like still be active in that space and within those hats. But yeah, like navigating hard seasons for me looks like getting quiet. Getting quiet so that I can hear what God, what are you saying right now? Because it's so easy for us to get caught up in what he said, what he did, what he was doing. So good. And the Lord is like, no, what am I saying to you right now? Even with within business, you can get that way. Because the business model that worked two years ago isn't the business model that the Lord is breathing on right now. And for me, the Lord gets my attention because resources start drying up. I'm like, okay, did something happen? Am I still? And the Lord is like, I still blessed it. You just have to come to me for the strategy of this year, yeah, right now. What I'm saying right now, what I'm revealing right now. And so, yeah, I mean, I don't, and honestly, I'm I'm not gonna just sit here and say I navigate hard seasons the right way every time. Sometimes I'm in the bed and my husband is my therapist, and I'm like, babe, I don't know what's going on. Lord, I don't know what's happening, actually. Lord, I need you in every single way. Like, the Lord isn't just my savior, he's also my husbandman and my friend. So, like, thank the Lord I can be as raw and honest and naked before him. Because sometimes I really don't have anything to say. I just need to be loved on. I'm a daddy's girl. Like, I just need to be in my father's lap. I'm like, I don't know. Can you help me? Can you give me insight? Can you give me perspective? Because if you don't do it, I'm going to make these people the enemy, that person the enemy. I'll be offended by that person. And offense can hold your business back. For sure. Unforgiveness can hold your business back and all the things. So I literally have to learn, I'm learning how to navigate a pure space. Yeah. Not like just cleaning up and like organizing, but within me. Because I feel like when you go through hard seasons, offense is very easy. Yes. And uh, I don't know, I'm just trying to live as unoffended as possible.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's so good. That's so good. Yeah. There, and there is also a connection to allowing the Lord to love on you and in that developing his heart. And then you get his heart for people, which helps you become less offended. Yes. Um, and I think creatives are some of the most sensitive people. Um we just sensitive.
SPEAKER_00And let's not talk about prophetic creatives.
SPEAKER_01It's just, it's just, it's, it's just, and and here's something I'm like navigating through. The Lord is like, for him, that somebody gave me this word, and she's like, you need to learn how to see, but not see. Because I'm a seer. And very early on, I can see.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_01And I'm going, mm-mm, don't want nothing to do with that. You can see it a mile away. And the Lord's like, that's not why I've given you the gift to see. I've given you the gift to see. So you also learn to develop my heart. Because ain't no way you didn't think he didn't know it was Judas, right? We don't know it's Judas until he Judas kissed him. But Jesus is aware. Wow. Whoever you are sitting at this table, go ahead and do what you gotta do. Wow. Right? Because I'm also aware that even Judas and his unsurrendered heart is a key element to my purpose being fulfilled. And sometimes it is to deal with your heart and the raggedy stuff in you. And so I think that there is this way that the Lord is training me. I think as I start to lean more in my prophetic gift things and going, okay, Lord, teach me how to see, but then give me your eyes for what I see. Because if I only see it with my natural eye, I'm gonna judge this.
SPEAKER_00So good.
SPEAKER_01And I'm gonna miss what you're trying to do with what I see.
SPEAKER_00So good.
SPEAKER_01And so I think it is this way that the more I spend time with God and allow him to love on me, but also allow him to reveal me to me, there is this way that I live less offended. Because then I also carry the empathy of my own self. 100%. I'm going, I'm raggedy too. Because we're not just the offended. We are the offender. Yes. You are the villain in someone else's story. And so, like, also that gives me the ability, right? And something my best friend always says is like, no one will ever hurt you from a place of wholeness. So when I realize that, I realize that we are all have an area of brokenness that sometimes offends people.
SPEAKER_00100%.
SPEAKER_01So now I can, now I'm a there's some grace being added to this. And then there is the reality that the Lord don't walk out on me or He don't stop dealing with me or stick his nose up or start being suchy much with me. Like such email. Even when I don't repent, he is still present. And so I think like there is this way that we have to realize the Lord's heart towards us, but then duplicate it in our way, in our hearts towards other, towards others.
SPEAKER_00So full of wisdom. I love that. That's practical, especially dealing with business, prophetic creatives, creators, all of the sectors. Offense, it's always the thing that stops people in their tracks because offense, it is not just offense, it turns into actual things in our body that can make us sick, that can make us anxious, that can make our back hurt, that can deal with things in our soul. Um, I mean, if we really want to get deep into it, like offense can create cancer within your body. Most people that have cancer are dealing with deep soul issues that they have not addressed and dealt with. So, like when the Lord is dealing with me on the bed about what's offending me and what I need to let go, I also see a picture of the cross and how much I was uh how much he had to uh forgive me. Yeah. Like to whom much is given, much is required. And we've been given much through the cross, through mercy, through the blood. So, like holding things above, it's hard sometimes, I'm not gonna lie. Yeah, for sure. Especially when you think you're old. But one of my mentors told me something that changed my life. He said, Kendra, every time you think about the offense, ask the Lord to apply blood to it. I apply blood to this offense. Yeah, because the record needs to be gone. Yep. It needs to be gone. The record in your mind, that's a mountain in the way of intimacy between you and the Lord. Sure. You need to let that go. And in doing those, really, I would say practical spiritual things, the business started becoming more fruitful because of that yes on the other side. So I think like, yeah, I I love that. That that's beautiful.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's so good. What do you feel like? What do you sense the Lord is saying to the creative in this hour? That's a great question.
SPEAKER_00It's not about your creativity to be a son, conform to my image. We're actually too self-aware. We're actually self-developing our way out of being developed by the Holy Spirit. Um, we have all this information, we have all of these resources, and we're still very lost. I would say that the Lord desires to partner with creatives in this hour because we are gonna see some of the most beautiful and I would say um effective and influential creative influence than we've ever seen in the time that we're living in right now. But I really think that it starts with revival happening within the people that are supposed to be leading the revival. Um, creatives, it's really time to stop overthinking, second-guessing who we are, be conformed into the image of Jesus so that we can be secure knowing that we're not creating for wealth, we're creating from a from a position of it already. Um, it's already within us, according to Ephesians 1, it says that we have access to every spiritual blessing and through the redemption of the cross, we are co-heirs with Christ Jesus. If we knew that deeply within our souls, we wouldn't be chasing contracts, we wouldn't be chasing partnerships, we wouldn't settle for a lesser God in any space. Why would I walk into a room with this idea that somebody can put me on so I conform into whatever image I need to so that they can put me on when I've already been conformed into the image of the sun? If we really come into sonship, we will see creativity that we've never seen. And it will actually affect us in our imagination. We wouldn't be so mental health focused, we would be more aware of the Lord's spirit. I really sense that the Lord wants to deal with heart wounds like never before, soul wounds like never before. And he's returning. I it it he's always had this message, but it is a call to return to holiness. Yeah, it's this purification. He desires his spirit to be in every single thing. Your creative process should not lead you to sin. Your creative process should not mask you. Come on, your creative process should not include witchcraft. Why do you need sage in your atmosphere when the aroma of the Holy Spirit is much more, I mean, everything potent, beautiful, amazing. I remember when I smelled, um, I think I smelled some sort of incense in the spirit, because I'm sure you have experienced this. But the Lord has a smell. Yeah. And we have settled for false development tools. If we would just be developed by the word of God, we would see ourselves grow, expand, and multiply. Not just for ourselves though, because let's be clear, the Lord will never just bless you for you. For sure. The Lord is blessing you because of communities attached to you. The Lord is blessing you so that you can be a blessing to other people. The Lord is blessing you to be a resource and a distribution center. Yes. So if creatives can partner with their identities that are already available to them, knowing that I actually don't have to go to anyone else. Jesus became the high priest. Come on, the veil was torn. Yes. I have direct access. I'm now being built up. It will, it would influence everything else that we do. And we wouldn't have to play the false humility game when we go into rooms. Oh, but I am it's interesting. That just the muzzle that's been on creatives lately. And I think obviously because we know when you are not, when your identity is not secure in the Lord, you become very self-conscious. And shame follows that, guilt follows that. And I think a lot of we've seen a lot of secret sin in the creative process. And the Lord is just calling us to holiness.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Truly, holiness, and it not being this legalistic thing. Holiness meaning you are eating the scroll.
SPEAKER_02For sure.
SPEAKER_00You're eating his word. Sobriety. I think that would be the word sobriety for creatives. And we all do it together. And it doesn't make you better than nobody else. For sure. It doesn't sit you on this mountain that you're untouchable. Because you're great, you can wash feet. If you don't serve in your business, you don't have a business. Come on. Like I believe a business is a solution-serving system. And I believe profit benefits all parties involved. It doesn't just benefit me, but it benefits all of us. So like most people think that they are in business with God because they think because they have a scripture on their Instagram bio or a script.
SPEAKER_01That they ain't even read. At least know the scripture that you put up.
SPEAKER_00It's not in your heart. And I used to play the churchy game. And then I was like, Lord, I need to be delivered from being churchy. Come on. Because I'm saying more churchinese than I'm saying the scriptures. For sure. And I need the scriptures because the scriptures is what changes me, conforms me into the image of the sun. So I don't know. I feel like that was a lot, but no, it was good.
SPEAKER_01That is what I believe the Lord is saying. Yeah, I love the part about the serving. I think I get that question out like, how do I do what you do? Serve. That's even whatever you think I do, I'm serving. This is actually a cross for me. Okay. It's not what I desire to do. Okay. Look, one thing about Brenda, she's she's gonna tell you this is a cross. I know y'all think this is cute. It's not. I don't want to do it. Excuse me. It's not cute. This takes a lot out of me. Okay. And I'm single. Because that matters. Like that is an element to this. Wow. There are things I have to sacrifice because I can't just be with anybody. Because what I have has to be protected. And it and it can't be just submitted into the hands of anybody. And so that that is this is a cross I have to bear. And I I I don't want anybody to mistake, like, I'm honored that the Lord would choose me to do what I do. And I would be unsatisfied and unfulfilled if I did anything outside of what the Lord required of me. And so, but I think that because people only see the growth elements to it, right? You see people recognize you, you see the numbers, you see whatever y'all think is, you know what I'm saying? And I'm like, nah, bro, this cost like your life. Like, if you cling to your life, you're gonna lose it. But if you let it go, then you will, you know what I'm saying? Nah. It is a tech, and I'm I'm like, nah, this is a cross. This is, I'm I have an extroverted personality, but this requires me to be on all the time. And I would just prefer to just be my, I got a new couch and it's like a cloud couch. Oh, I just want to stay at home and enjoy it. Come on, and it's wealth. It is, you know. Cloud couches, they look, I come home by the cloud couch. You know, I went scouted over the land first and said, I this is the couch I want. And I'm gonna come back for it. And I did. I went back. My mom was like, You went and got the couch I said I wanted. The Lord provided. Yeah. That is. It is this is the season where I feel like I'm learning how to embrace the steadiness, right? Because I think there in my yes, it's requiring me to give up a lot, which means I went out. I went without a lot. So it was a lot of like, on edge, Lord, now, how we gonna pay Peter to pay Paul, right? There's a lot of that. And I think that oftentimes in the body we skew one extreme to the other, right? So it's all prosperity and God's gonna do, and God's gonna bless, and you're gonna have the wealth of the wicked later for the righteous, and it's like money, money, money, money, money. And it's like follow the Lord, you're gonna get money, money, money. Yeah, and then there's the other end, and it's like suffer, suffer, suffer, suffer, suffer. You just gotta die with Christ. You gotta be crucified. Your life's gonna be terrible. He's gonna drag you through the mud. But I'm a good son if I endu the suffering. It's like, great. So there will be seasons where I'll suffer. He says, Take heart, you know, in this life you'll have trouble, but take heart, I've overcome the world. But then he also says, I come that you may have life so that in the full, abundantly, right? So we love it. And yeah, and so then, and he also tells it's one thing that I had to like put in my heart because I would feel bad for like prospering.
SPEAKER_00We don't we don't have resurrection without the death. We need both things. We need both things, we need, and I think the Lord is sobering his people because you need both.
SPEAKER_01The cross leads you to the burial, and the burial leads you to the resurrection, and the resurrection leads you to the ascension that's because that is also a part of the gospel. Yes, it's not a good thing. Like we like he got up and then he went up, and he sits at the right hand of the father in authority over every like we leave that part out. It's like Jesus didn't just die and resurrect, so I and he please hear me. There is suffering in it, for sure. But there is also a benefit to being a son. Co-air, hello, you know what I'm saying? And I think we we again extremes. We just swing from one end to the other, and it's like we leave out, no life's gonna be tough, right? But God's already over, he's already overcome this. So I do have something to look forward to. But there's a conversation that Jesus has with the rich young, with the disciples after the rich young ruler. And he tells the rich young ruler, sell all your stuff and then come and follow me. He could have been the 13th disciple. That's crazy. He just he didn't even know what he was walking away from. Wow. And he walks away grieved, and then they go, he says, it's easier for a camel to enter the eye of a needle than for a rich man to be saved. Jesus is not saying it's impossible. He's saying that's the difficulty. But with God, all things are possible. But he says, Because then the disciples go, well, at that time, wealth was a sign of you was walking right with the Lord. If you got money, you've been God's been good to you. How was anybody gonna be saved then? Exactly. And he says, you cannot leave mother, father, sister, brother for this for my sake in the gospel, and not reap mother, father, sister, brother in the present age and the age to come. So what I do here on earth and how I live is not only a reward I will reap in heaven, it is a reward I get to live in in the present age. And we have done a disservice to this generation because we've only talked about suffering and we haven't taught them how to steward the blessing of the present age.
SPEAKER_00Well, you know, we're addicted to drama bonding. So, of course, they would like to stay there because No, I don't want to stay there.
SPEAKER_01We don't want to stay there. I'm I'm up out of here. And I don't struggled with there was a guilt to like, I'm like, no, there is a good, this this part of my life is good. And I didn't know how to enjoy it because I'm waiting on it to fall apart because I got to suffer for the Lord. It's like that's not a badge of honor. No, it is a part of the journey, it is a part of the process. You are going to suffer, but I don't get a special badge because I I suffered and didn't steward what God's entrusted to me.
SPEAKER_00Every time the Lord blessed in scripture, there was always leftovers. For sure. There was all it wasn't just their need was met, it was that they had more than enough. And anything God does includes multiplication. But it's not, again, not just for you, it's for everyone. And I think the reason why a lot of people stay stuck at that trauma bonding stage is because they're not willing to share their resources yet. Sometimes The Lord will wait until you're ready to share. It's true. To bless you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because when God blesses you, He is also trying to get something through you.
SPEAKER_00100%. Like, do you think like in my father's house is many mansions? For sure. There will not just be a new heaven. There will be a new earth. For sure. The Lord, when He created earth before the fall, blessed us. He told us to fulfill it, subdue the world, uh, subdue the earth. Kavash it, which means that's a picture of an enemy's uh a foot on an enemy's neck. That is our our mandate from God is to be fruitful. Yeah, that is our mandate. Fruitfulness is a part of our walk. But like you said, we're so suffering focused that we think that when blessing does come, oh, that must be the enemy. That must be, and it's like, no, the Lord blesses too. And it comes without sorrow. His blessing comes with the Lord maketh rich and added also. You don't have to, you don't have to suffer to come into the blessing of the Lord. Now, yes, there is a denial process in everything. For sure. There's gonna be a cross. There's going to be a cross, for sure. But doesn't mean that you won't experience the fullness of joy while you're carrying it. Come on. Yeah. That's supernatural.
SPEAKER_01For sure. And I think like my thing is like, I I I think we need both and we need balance. Oh, 100%. We need to we need to be taught how to steward suffering, and we need to be taught how to steward the um the benefits of a life with Christ. And so I think like that's just my hope. Because I I did realize when things were happening good, it was like I would feel bad for enjoying the things that the Lord were giving me. And I was like, because I'm so used to suffering, Lord, it's about to be over again. And so I think like there needs to be just a balance in how we communicate that because if not, we're we're leaving a generation without a complete picture of what it means to be a follower of Christ.
SPEAKER_00I would agree. 100%.
SPEAKER_01All right, what's one thing that's just on your heart right now that's burning?
SPEAKER_00One thing that's on my heart currently, all the things we're talking about.
SPEAKER_01You like this.
SPEAKER_00This right here, this, you know, supernatural buffet. I love this. Um, it would it would really just be us coming into that balance, uh, the sobriety, us letting go of this idea that it has to look a certain way, letting the Lord navigate that. And we are many members, different functions. For sure. How it flows through me isn't how it might flow, like might flow through you. We're very different. I have green hair, I love green hair. I'm not requiring everyone to wear green hair. This is my creative process, doesn't mean it's yours, and we can do community together. Yeah, God's heart. If I if I were to say anything is burning on my heart, it would really be community. Yeah, like we really need to learn how to navigate in community in the times that we're living in. We need to learn how to come together, share resources, share gifts, not feel like we are enemies in the same territory. Get rid of the elitism, get rid of the gay culture, the ego, my way, my way, me, my I, business, everything through ego. We really have to get rid of that because the Lord is looking for pure vessels. Yeah. Pure vessels that make everything about the kingdom. It's no longer me, my I, yeah, who I am, who it's really about what the Lord is doing and establishing. And if we would really come together as a body, as creators, one, we wouldn't lack. I think a big reason why I see a lot of lacking in the kingdom is because people want to do things through individualism and through solopreneurship. We see the garden, the model in the garden, two by two, be fruitful, multiply. When he sent people out, he didn't even send them out alone. Nope. It was two by two. Our God is communal. Yes, community matters. That's really burning in me right now. Like, yes, I can do things by myself, but why would I? You can't scale a business. For sure. You can scale a business by yourself, but I was sitting with Byron Golden one time. He said, But why would you want to? Yeah. Why would you want to do that? You have something different than I have. And if we can really come into sobriety with community even, let go of our offenses and our differences, come together and really ask God, okay, Lord, what do you want to do? I truly believe we would see and find that wealth that we've been saying is coming that we don't know how to reach and grab and get.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's coming to the body.
SPEAKER_00It ain't coming to one person.
SPEAKER_01It's not coming to the foot or pinky. It's coming to the body. It's coming to the foot. I love that so much. Would you pray for us?
SPEAKER_00Oh my goodness, yes. Of course. Lord, I thank you. Yes, Lord, that in this conversation, something was revealed that would not just be heard, but be implemented in the life of the person that heard it. Father, we thank you that in this time and in this dispensation of era we are in, that you are breathing your life over your creatives and over your entrepreneurs and over your multifaceted daughters and sons. Father, we thank you for Brenda and her podcast. Father, I pray that you would continue to elevate this platform, multiply this platform, grow it according to your glory and your goodness and your perfect will. Lord, I thank you that the person listening to this would come into full agreement of what you've called them to do in the earth and who they are. Lord, I thank you that all things work together for the good of those that love you and are called according to your purpose. Lord, I pray that you would just continue to um to bring us closer to your idea for divine intimacy, that we would agree that you are our husbandman, that you are our father, that you are our friend. Holy Spirit, I pray that the person that is listening to this platform, that they would come into repentance so that they can create according to your heart. Lord, I thank you that survival mode is breaking off of your people. I thank you that struggle is breaking off of your people. I thank you that the lack of resources are breaking off of your people. Lord, I thank you that you are multiplying according to your riches and your glory. And I thank you that as you do that, that we lead people into the kingdom because you are not just making us sellers and marketers and platform growers. You are desiring us to be sowers of the kingdom. And Lord, I pray that as we sow, we can do it with pure intent, pure heart, pure mind, pure soul. Lord, I thank you for this day. And I pray that this platform would just continue to grow. I thank you for everybody that watched this uh podcast episode today, and I pray that they would just continue to surrender their lives to you. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
SPEAKER_01Amen. Okay, you got to tell us what you got coming up, where we can find you, follow you, tap in with you.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Um, Kendra Tall, T-A-U-L official on Instagram and Kendra Tall on TikTok as well. Um, I just want to uncomplicate what it means to partner your existence with the Lord in business. And we have um a less hustle tribe that the Lord told me to make free. So, right now you can join a business community for Christians for zero dollars, the Less Hustle Tribe. And um, you can find that on my Instagram. And we would love to have you. Every Thursday we go live, and it is discipleship for entrepreneurs. I love that.
SPEAKER_01Thank you for being here.
SPEAKER_00Thank you for inviting me. Come on, Lee Brenda Palmer.
SPEAKER_01All right, guys. I hope you enjoyed today's conversation. This is the journey of yes, and you already know we'll be back next week.
