Well, I believe and subscribe to thinking positive and affecting positive change on everyone I come in contact with. I rant a little over this on the show.

Ep 34
[00:00:00] JJ: [00:00:00] It's the Jeff Johnson show brought to you by O T e@ofthisearthglobal.com of this earth. global.com clothing connection. Okay.
[00:00:21] Greetings, or as we say it right here in the South, Hey y'all Hey, you know what time it is? It's time for another edition. The Jeff Johnson show a real, genuine, authentic podcast where I get to reconnect with the people and places and events of my hometown area. Charlotte, North Carolina. All right, let's get this show started.
[00:00:42] Hey everybody, your boy JJ here saying hello and thank you again for joining the show. You know, it's been kind of a very. Weird and different type of December for me, um, you know, with everything going on from the election to the pandemic, to [00:01:00] hunger, to all these other things, I'll be honest with you.
[00:01:04] There's a slight melancholy, there's a slight depression that we all go through when we're thinking about these things and our place in this world and how we can have an effect on this world. And I tell you, I contemplated all the time. You know, you guys know me. I mean, you know, I'm the guy you see on TV, on the radio in person, whatever, I'm always up.
[00:01:27] I'm always doing certain things, but you know, I'm just a normal human being just like you. I have my down periods and I must admit, I have had some of those periods lately because I see so much as out in the world right now, when it comes to suffering. When it comes to people hating each other and people just not taking care of each other.
[00:01:50] And it's very disheartening to me, but there are things that always happen that shake your butt right up [00:02:00] and make you realize how important this life is and how good people are. Because, you know, I'm a faithful man. God is everything. My religion is very important to me. And those sorts of things helped shape my direction and my outlook on life prime example, my furnace went out.
[00:02:28] Yeah, that's right, boy. And it has been cold here in the ATL. So my furnace goes out and then I'm going, man. I don't know what to do about all this. I know I got to get it fixed. And I am sitting there with, we're still doing all of our work and everything, and we go, how are we going to get this done? And it's just, something just happened to where a friend of mine gave me a call.
[00:02:53] It was just out of the blue, a friend of mine who knew my cousin, Charlie bags. And I don't, none of you guys know Charlie, but he, [00:03:00] well, some of you will. Some of my family is listening Charles, one of the greatest guys on earth. Well, Troy gave me a call, said, what's you up to? I said, Troy, what are you calling me for?
[00:03:11] Troy is a certified heating air conditioning dude. And let me tell you what, you know, we started talking and I was telling him about everything. He said, man, just hold on. I'll be right there. He was over here and just in just no time, got my furnace back up and running. And when I went to say, man, how much money you want for this?
[00:03:34] He said, dude, you just give me what you want. Well, first that's, you know, he is a businessman, but when you say, give me what you want. I'm like, come on now. You normally give you more than what you deserve, but it, and that kind of thing. Wasn't what it was all about. It was him taking the time to drop what he was doing to come help me little old me.
[00:04:00] [00:04:00] Folks. I hope each and every one of you this season take the time to help a little old me somewhere out where you are. I don't care if it's a food line that you go and volunteer for, you help a child read virtually you donate to something that is getting gifts for children in the hospital, wherever you are, things like that.
[00:04:23] You can do what you can do, where you are. I totally believe that I'm all about that. Never let the naysayers say you can't because you can, now I'm not saying it's going to be perfect. Come on. Y'all look, you talking to you talking to Mr. Hard knocked King right here. But what I am saying is you still at least got to give it a chance.
[00:04:49] You still at least have to put one foot in front of the other and go after it. You at least got to show up. This world is [00:05:00] a beautiful place. You are beautiful. People do beautiful things. It'll make you feel good. Troy made me feel good and warmer. I'm telling you, boy, it's so nice up in the house right now because of Troy and because of my, my cousin, Charles, who I love dealer who passed away a while back.
[00:05:27] This is the season of giving dip into your pockets, defend you dip into your time and give it is so important. Folks. I'm going to be right back in just a minute with a little thing, a little something to think about. And it's a very unique one. And I'll tell you all about it. When I come back, these are some of the short shows that I'm going to be doing in December, because I got so many other things that are going on.
[00:05:52] But, you know, it's just so nice to get some of this stuff off my chest. You're listening to the Jeff Johnson show. Go on my website, [00:06:00] www get JJ. Now you can listen to podcasts, share this podcast, tell people about it. We'll be right back just a minute.
[00:06:11] PSA: [00:06:11] Help protect your family from flu this season by taking three easy steps. First get yourself and your family, a flu shot it's quick and can protect you all season second, take everyday actions to help prevent the spread of germs. Like flu. Cover your cough. Stay home from work or school. If you're sick and wash your hands.
[00:06:30] Often third, there are drugs that can treat flu illness. These work best when started early, learn more at cdc.gov/fight flu.
[00:06:49] JJ: [00:06:49] Welcome back to the show. Everybody Jeff Johnson in the house, they call me JJ, you know, name Nate AA, have a big old time in this December, the season of giving. [00:07:00] And, uh, I'm wanting to share something with you real quick on a, I wanted to share something with you that happened to me June 4th, 1996. On that day, I became a daddy.
[00:07:17] Good gracious. It was the greatest time. It was a greatest moment. It was the most humbling moment of my life. My son will. Jeffrey Johnson was born. Wow, Nancy and I were tripping. I was tripping, man. I had this little bundle of joy that I had to take care of for the rest of my life and make sure that he grew up to be a good man to make sure that he had the right values to make sure the character traits were there to make sure that he was a fun person.
[00:07:46] All those things that I was given by Mary and Charles and my family, the same things. I refer to so many motivational [00:08:00] things through out the day, my life, the year, whenever it is just to keep me going. I love reading and I love finding out ways to motivate myself. And I came upon a thing on that day, 1996, I was going through some, some, uh, old files that I had and came upon this one from 1996.
[00:08:26] It was something I found somewhere. I just don't remember. But basically this is what this, this was about. And I, and I'm kind of dim kind of titled it. It's just something to think about. The title of this thing is something to look forward to and it goes like this. Have you ever noticed what happens right before you're going on a long weighted vacation?
[00:08:54] If you're like most people, you are Bulletproof, nothing gets you down. You cheerfully work harder than [00:09:00] usual to get things ready for your trip and to arrange for everything to continue smoothly while you're gone. In fact, for many people the day before leaving on vacation is often the most productive day they have all year.
[00:09:14] Why is that? Well, for one thing, you have to get the work done. You have a sense of urgency. It won't wait until tomorrow. So you're extremely motivated in that regard. You also have a light at the end of the tunnel. You know that tomorrow you'll be relaxing on the beach or hiking through the mountains or something that you really like to do.
[00:09:36] And that is enough to keep you going at a high level of energy and improving. Awesome. Wouldn't it be great if every day could be like that? Just think how much you can accomplish when you think about it. The day before vacation is no different than any other day. The only thing that makes it different is your attitude.
[00:10:00] [00:10:00] Guess what? You're in complete control of your attitude. So if you really want to, you can feel that way every day. The trick is to find something exciting and inspiring to look forward to. Yeah, vacation is great, but you can't do that every day. That's where your goals come into play. That's where the things that you teach your family, your friends, your children come into play.
[00:10:29] What is your life's dream? What excites you? What motivates you and what inspires you more than anything else? Whatever it is, you need to constantly remind yourself of it. Keep it at the front of your mind. And know that everything you were doing is leading to that goal goals. Aren't really important for what they are so much as what they help you to become.
[00:10:54] In fact, researching your goal is not nearly as important as what you do and what you become in the [00:11:00] process. We are goal seeking creatures. We need something to strive for, to look forward, to provide that for yourself and every day. Can be joyous and productive. The things that I dreamed about for so long was to have a family.
[00:11:26] I always wanted as a goal to be a dad, to be able to share my knowledge with my son. I got that
[00:11:39] I have become. What one of my major goals has become a father to a wonderful young man, a husband to my wife, Nancy, and a friend to all of you go out and do your thing. Chase your [00:12:00] goals do not be deterred. It's a beautiful world out there, folks, and you are dead in it. I'm your boy, JJ, just trying to bring a little motivation, a little light, doing these short shows for you right now, as we kind of regroup for 2021, I think everybody's regrouping a little bit.
[00:12:20] They're going good Lord. What are we going to do when we get back to 2021? But I'm hoping to have more guests, more things to do right here in the show, but I just appreciate each and every one of you. Listen, I hope you join me next week. Check out my webpage, get JJ. Now I still got some updates to do on it and things like that.
[00:12:40] Uh, all my social media, Facebook, Twitter. You know, I put stuff up and I'd love to hear ideas and just suggestions for you from you. So again, thanks for listening. Take care and love each other. We'll see you soon.
