The Jeff Johnson Show

TJJS - Ep.45 - TJJS - A Musical Interlude with JJ! (Redux)

Jeff Johnson

Many folks have come and asked about some of my musical interviews that I have done. I’ve been blessed to have conducted a bunch of them.  Some very famous folks, some on the rise and some not so famous, but let me tell you, they all have a God Given talent that is undeniable.

This show highlights performances and conversation I had with songstress, Ozara Ode’ and Violinist extraordinaire, Ken Ford for when I was on the air in Atlanta.

I will be doing the same thing on my show. I want to feature musicians, spoken word artists and more from the Metrolina area and all over the world!  Talent is everywhere!  BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THIS SEGMENT AND CHECK MY SOCIAL MEDIA FOR WAYS TO GET ON THE SHOW.

What the Jeff Johnson Show “IS” and “IS NOT”:

IT IS NOT:

  • It’s not a news show, but we learn stuff.
  • It’s not a sports show, but Garinger beats Independence all the time and we love the game.
  • It’s not an “artsy” show, but local artists/performers are always in the house.
  • This is not a food show, but I love livermush!(‘Nuff Said”) So, we'll be talking about food a lot!

IT IS:

  • It is a Labour of Love for myself and my Hometown.
  • It is a show about you and me and finding out why the Charlotte/Metrolina region is a great place to be!
  • It is a show that I get to introduce you folks I grew up with who influenced me in my life. (I got some "Very Unique" friends y'all so this should be interesting!)
  • It is a show that I share some of the many talented friends I’ve met along the way.  (I got some "Very Unique" friends y'all so this should be interesting!)
  • It is a show that works your emotions. (“...Laughing and Crying, you know it’s the same release..”)

All right, everybody let's get this week show started off.

[00:00:49] I've had a lot of people say, man, you know, when you left and you went to Atlanta, um, You know, you got to meet a lot of people and talk to a lot of people. And we'd love to hear some of those interviews. Well, [00:01:00] guess what? Not only will you hear a couple of those interviews, but they're going to be accompanied by the sweet sounds of music.

[00:01:07] I've got two musical performers that I really enjoyed interviewing throughout the years. The first is from a lady that captivates all with her sultry sound and her incredible stage. Ladies and gentlemen Ozara Ode' will be on the Jeff Johnson show. And my second performance interview features a man from the time he was nine years old.

[00:01:29] He knew that the violin was going to be his instrument and, you know, he has been proving it ever since Ken Ford will be on the Jeff Johnson show as well. So stick around, we have a lot more to come. Ozara Ode", Ken Ford, a musical double dip right here on the Jeff Johnson show. We'll be right back.

[00:01:53] I never get the, my kids don't need more shots.

[00:01:58] We all help them. My asthma Glenda [00:02:00] control. I'm pregnant. I've had the flu. It's not a big deal. My kids are too old.

[00:02:04] I can

[00:02:05] fight it naturally. No matter

[00:02:07] how you build your excuses,

[00:02:09] the flu can blow your house down.

[00:02:14] Keep your foundation strong.

[00:02:16] Vaccinate. Learn more@flu.gov. A message from the us department of health and human services.

[00:02:28] Ladies and gentlemen, please. Welcome. Ozara Ode' who was accompanied by Haji [00:03:00] busing.

[00:06:31] [00:06:00] [00:05:00] [00:04:00] That was fantastic. They listen, you know, I hear so many influences in that particular song. Tell me what, what, what, what were some of the influences that, that, that, that produces the sound that comes out of your voice?

[00:06:45] Ozara Ode': [00:06:45] Well, I have to say that I came from a family of vocalists, my aunt Renee, Sandra Austin.

[00:06:50] JJ: [00:06:50] So family thing, right. I know how that is. And the family had such an influence, but the, the, the, the soul, the, the feeling that comes out is that what you're [00:07:00] trying to accomplish here?

[00:07:00] Ozara Ode': [00:07:00] Almost definitely. We want to. Let people, you know, feel encouraged, feel love, feel joy, feel encouraged to do something. So I'm used, it wants to touch people's hearts.

[00:07:10] JJ: [00:07:10] And that's what it's all about now. So what's new for you. What's next for you?

[00:07:13] Ozara Ode': [00:07:13] Well, I'm like half coming up with Joyce. Latell it's a voice.  we're going to do a baddest women ATL in December.

[00:07:20] JJ: [00:07:20] Wait a minute. The baddest way.

[00:07:22] Ozara Ode': [00:07:22] And see, that's good for me. I just got here. I'm from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. So I'm very honored to be amongst that crew so early.

[00:07:28] Um, so

[00:07:30] JJ: [00:07:30] what are you, what is your impressions of the ATL now that you're from, you know, that Northern climb coming on down this way?

[00:07:35] Ozara Ode': [00:07:35] Well, I absolutely love it. Um, I've been received very well here that Southern hospitality, although there's a very, a blend of so many different people from the East coast, West coast, you still have that Southern hospitality on the scene.

[00:07:47] And I'm very, I feel very blessed.

[00:07:49] JJ: [00:07:49] So the musical scene in Atlanta for both of you, how has it helped you guys out here? How have you, you seen it grow and how have you grown with it? Let's start. And any

[00:07:58] Ozara Ode': [00:07:58] art credit that you do, the more you [00:08:00] do it, the more you become adequate at doing it. So Atlanta is a great stage for music too.

[00:08:04] Practice to hone is to harness what it is that you want to do with your music. So the audience really gets a lot of energy and it helps the process, a great deal. Oh, most definitely. And it toughens your skin too, some places, or they might call it an open mic, but your name could be on the list and they won't call it.

[00:08:20] JJ: [00:08:20] Oh,

[00:08:20] Ozara Ode': [00:08:20] Oh yeah. It happened. I won't name any names.

[00:08:23] JJ: [00:08:23] Okay. Well, no, I truly understand. Cause that can be a little bit too much, but we appreciate both of you guys being here today and we truly have enjoyed. Thank you so much. And we'll give us your website real quick too.

[00:08:39] That's what I did. I found out everything. Make sure you check that out. All right. Stay tuned. Everybody more legit Johnson show we'll be right back. Right.

[00:13:55] [00:13:00] [00:12:00] [00:11:00] [00:10:00] yeah, ladies and [00:14:00] gentelmen. Yes. Y'all I know y'all heard that little bit of Mary had a little lamb on it. Yeah. You know, the expression that, the voice of the violin. Yeah. W what, what drew you to this insturment?

[00:14:12] Ken Ford: [00:14:12] Well, you know, like everybody is, my

[00:14:14] JJ: [00:14:14] parents got you into this.

[00:14:17] Ken Ford: [00:14:17] Yes. My dad was the DJ. My mom really likes strings, and they wanted me to do some only child long story short had me at all the concerts, and I just fell in love to violin.

[00:14:27] And now he's

[00:14:28] JJ: [00:14:28] not only. Is the violin such a wonderful expressive instrument, but it also brings your personality. I mean, the feet move, you dance it around. What is it about that that brings that up?

[00:14:40] Ken Ford: [00:14:40] You know, it's just evolved, Jeff. I don't know where that came from. It's just, when I play, I feel it in my soul and I just love to do what I do.

[00:14:47] And I just let that love, just care me on

[00:14:50] JJ: [00:14:50] well, there's no doubt.

[00:14:59] And, you know, even though I [00:15:00] was try my best to move, what's new, what's going on right now with the man that you are doing right now will, aside

[00:15:07] Ken Ford: [00:15:07] from traveling everywhere and playing my violin and my CD, you know, right now is

[00:15:12] JJ: [00:15:12] really going great. Great.

[00:15:13] Ken Ford: [00:15:13] Um, I'm giving back to the kids. I have the Ken Ford foundation just lunch.

[00:15:19] And I am keeping music

[00:15:21] JJ: [00:15:21] education

[00:15:21] Ken Ford: [00:15:21] in the schools with emphasis on strings. Yeah. So I'm trying to make the violin fund. As a matter of fact, I have a workshop that I do all the time making the volume fund. So it's, I'm trying to bring the violin up to speed. So it won't get that bad rap for a long time. You know, even when I was little, I was carrying in a square case.

[00:15:39] JJ: [00:15:39] I didn't want nobody

[00:15:40] Ken Ford: [00:15:40] to know. I played the violin. So, you know, I want, I don't want kids to be doing that this time. This day. So I'm trying to give back and show them that the violin is cool. That's why I got the funky green. You're not,

[00:15:51] JJ: [00:15:51] give me a website that people can go for or to find out more about the foundation and to find out about how to get your CD.

[00:15:57] Okay.

[00:15:57] Ken Ford: [00:15:57] Well, first the foundation [00:16:00] www.thekenfordfoundation.org. Ken Ford foundation.org. Then if you want my CD, you can go to www dot  dot

[00:16:09] JJ: [00:16:09] net. Fantastic. Yes. Thank you so much for your time, your inspiration, your energy, and the beautiful music of your violin. It makes it all much. You're very welcome, guys.

[00:16:18] We'll be back in just a minute. Stay tuned. We'll be right back.

[00:16:22] What a great interview with Ken Ford and that violin. It is all that. And now here's something to think about. You cannot truly have something new without letting go of the old, a new job requires you to resign from your old one. A new house means that you must move out of your old one.

[00:16:42] The easy, comfortable way is to stay with what we know, but what the world changing so rapidly, staying put as a luxury you can afford. If you're not moving forward, you're falling behind what new things can you learn today? How can you improve the way that you do your work? [00:17:00] People are asking themselves these questions and many are discovering the answers.

[00:17:04] So have confidence in your ability to yeah, too, and take advantage of new concepts and new ideas. You'll be the better for it.

[00:17:15] Thank you so much for being a part of the show this week. We've got a great show coming up next week. So make sure you join me for another edition of the Jeff Johnson show. A real genuine meeting. You have a great day. It's the Jeff Johnson show brought to you by ote@ofthisearthglobal.com of this earth.
