Some winners of the Community Service Awards, a contest staged by the Richmond News and its sister newspaper, The Excelsior Springs Standard, that allows readers to recognize Ray County and Clay County individuals, businesses and other entities, comment on their honors and discuss issues related to their respective professions. Those appearing, and their categories, are as follows:

  • Capt. Jessica Bennett, representing the Ray County Ambulance District. The district was named Best Local Hero.
  • Nick Persell, Richmond High School, named Best Coach.
  •  Brad Bamman, representing The Jones Store in Richmond. The store was recognized for Best Flooring Services.
  • Dr. Jonathan Renfro, Renfro Veterinary Services Inc. in Richmond, named Best Veterinarian.
