Show Notes

She’s no stranger to the competitive world and known as the Desert Rose(@taye).  At only 5 foot 2 and having competed in over a 165 off road races,  her latest and biggest achievement,  a 77th overall position in the Dakar rally is not to be frowned upon. Set to become the first women from Africa to finish the Dakar,  saw her lose out on this title due to mechanical problems.

“I was planning to return to the Dakar on a motorcycle, but Covid-19 and all of its economic ramifications put paid to that. So I immediately accepted when offered the chance to go racing in both the South African Cross Country series and next year’s Dakar,”

For the next Dakar she decided to change things up a bit and will navigate for Brian Baragwanath(@Brian)  in a CR6 two wheeled buggy.

"
The Baragwanath/ Perry/CR6 combination came into its own at the recent SA season-concluding race around Parys, when they finished third overall, closely behind the works Toyota Gazoo Hilux of Dakar legend Giniel de Villiers and Alex Haro"

The 2021 Dakar Rally will start and end in the city of Jeddah and cover a total distance of 7 900km in 12 stages over 13 days. Being an expensive exercise, the team would love to hear from local sponsors who could get involved.
