Heroine TV Podcast #031: BUFFY and ANGEL |
April 25, 2013 |
| The Heroine TV Podcast is back, this time with a super-sized Buffy and Angel episode. LaToya (@lafergs)--of All the TV, Pretty Little Liars Annotations, and Offscreenville--joined Lucia to discuss their Jossy obsessions. Do you want to listen to a Whedonesque therapy session, between two Buffy and Angel fans as they discuss what they love and hate about their two favorite shows? And try to work through the pain of "Seeing Red," Cordy's hair, and that Connor-Cordy scene that we pretend never happened? Then click play.
The podcast starts off with a general discussion of TV, weighing in on Pretty Little Liars, Bunheads, Hart of Dixie, The Carrie Diaries, Defiance, Warehouse 13, Elementary, Southland, and more. The Buffy and Angel discussion starts in earnest at the 21:54 mark, and does contain spoilers for those two shows if you are unfortunate enough not to have watched them. (If you know nothing of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Angel, please contact a trusted professional as soon as possible, to get the help you so desperately need. We are here for you.) As for the Whedon veterans, the discussion includes how we got into Buffy, season and show rankings, favorite episodes and characters, least favorite episodes and characters, and a detailed history of Cordelia Chase's hair. Oh, and lots of wig talk, obviously. Lucia admitted to not liking Xander, while LaToya admitted to not liking Andrew. It was all very therapeutic. Enjoy! |

November 18, 2012 |
| What do you guys think about Homeland this season? We've recorded two Homeland podcasts this season, covering only the premiere and the second episode, so the time to return to the show was overdue. A lot has happened in the past few episodes of the Showtime drama, and Emily joined me to discuss the tension-filled insanity. This podcast contains spoilers for Homeland episodes up through and including 2x08, "I'll Fly Away." At the end (1:07:12) I talk a little bit about the movie LINCOLN, which I saw in the theater over the weekend, and this prompted some brief Oscar contender discussion. |

Heroine TV Podcast #024: DEXTER |
November 12, 2012 |
| Lucia and Kyle discuss all things Dexter. Since this was recorded on Thursday, November 8th, they had not yet seen Sunday's latest episode, "Chemistry." Discussion starts with season 6 of Dexter, reflecting on the series on a whole. At about 28:21 in, they start referencing plot points from the season 7 premiere, but season 7 discussion begins in earnest at about 46:30. At that point, this podcast contains spoilers for episodes up to 7x06, "Do the Wrong Thing."
At the end of the podcast they finish things up with discussion of Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm, at the 1:39: 44 mark. Had to do it. Again, this was recorded last Thursday, so the news that Michael Arndt had been brought on to write the screenplay for Episode VII had not yet been released. Heroine TV Podcast #023: VAMPIRE DIARIES and ARROW |
November 3, 2012 |
| Lucia and Emily discuss the last two episodes of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, "The Rager and "The Five." There was a lot to say about Elena's frustrating transition. (Please consider supporting the Stop the Salvatore Smothering campaign, along with the Committee for Vampires to Get Their Frakkin' Acts Together Already, Because Drinking Blood Is Not Rocket Science.) Beginning at the 49:37 mark, they talk about the latest two episodes of ARROW, "Lone Gunman" and "An Innocent Man." Despite the cheesy dialogue, Lucia and Emily are pretty hooked on The CW's latest superhero project, and can't wait until it features a little more girl power. Team Diggle!
We were not able to record last weekend due to power loss in Emily's area, but we know a lot of people are really suffering. Please consider visiting RedCross.org to donate and help those affected by Sandy. And if you need a break from news of apocalyptic weather and election mayhem, maybe this podcast can provide a brief distraction from your troubles. |
