Dallas Rahui Te Ahuru Adams is a survivor of sexual abuse and decades of drug and alcohol dependency, but it was through physical strength and fitness that was able to work toward overcoming the trauma of his past.
We spoke about experiencing trauma and sexual abuse as a child, how important it is to educate children at kura about their body and their rights to dictate what is okay and what isn’t. We spoke about using alcohol as a coping mechanism, breaking the cycle, mental health being a part of overall health, and Dallas’s mahi helping other people on their journey of overall health.
