I’m Tania Carr, and today in this episode, you are going to hear the incredibly brave story of Constance Ready.
Constance took the stage at our Real Talk Mō Ngā Rangatahi event in Ahuriri in Napier, to share her experience with how connecting to the ngāhere, and following the tohu of her tipuna, she was able to bravely escape the cult of Gloriavale.

I am a seed born of greatness
This whakatauki is a great reminder that we are all born to be great and in fact it is our responsibility to our ourselves, our whānau and our tīpuna to strive to be great in everything that we do.
Here is Constsances story...
I escaped a religious cult at the age of 22, in which I had been born and raised. It took me an abusive relationship and 2 kids later before I decided to focus on myself and my healing, determined that my healing was my priority, and I had no more time for excuses.
When surviving is all you have known, it’s so worth it to ako (learn) how to live.
To share is to heal, to empower, to give courage and to strengthen. There is so much power in our collective stories, and I cannot wait to share mine with you.
