Hunter was a rangatahi speaker at one of the Real Talk 2021 events. Having the platform to tell the her whole story of her mental health struggles to so many people, helped in her journey of healing. We discussed the process of applying to Real Talk to tell her story and the support she had to help articulate what she wanted to convey to the audience.
Hunter talks about the relationships she had had which lead her to being diagnosed with depression and anxiety at the age of 17, her up and down journey through a period of 5 years, including self-harm and eventually a suicide attempt.
We discussed the impacts of ‘trauma bond’ on your future life until you heal yourself of past traumas and how spirituality helped Hunter look at life with a completely different perspective. We talked about the importance of self-awareness, communication, surrounding yourself with positive people and trusting your intuition.
