We're not saying the timeline is broken. We're just saying it could probably use a software update. Scientists believe reality is held together by a delicate web of cause and effect. We spend an hour trying to prove them wrong.

Along the way, we become unexpectedly obsessed with the FIFA World Cup, attempt to choose Premier League teams, survive the glorious chaos that is Miami International Airport, spend way too much money on airport food, and discover an internet business that absolutely should not exist, and, by the way, a new sibling appears.

Come for the conversation. Stay because, at some point, it becomes impossible to explain to another person what you're listening to.

A Familiar Wilsons Production

Welcome To The Wilson Pub

SPEAKER_01

You are made of meat, my friend, all the way down.

Josh

The following podcast uses words like and and also if you're not into any of that shit, then now's your chance.

Amanda

Three, two, one.

Josh

Run.

Amanda

But if there were, you would you would be receptive and you are a kind and loving person, so m stop making it sound like you're not.

Josh

I I never want to sound like I'm not a kind and loving person, goddammit. That's not what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_04

Welcome back to the conversation. Tell me who I'm talking to. You don't down to my donation. You want me and I am you.

Amanda

Welcome to Super Familiar with the Wilsons. I'm Amanda.

Josh

And I'm Josh, and we're the podcast about marriage 2.0 with kids.

Amanda

And side quests.

Josh

Amanda, we got a lot going on. We missed recording last week, and we'll talk about that. But first, I think I need to offer you an apology. I feel like You always need to offer you a lot of people. I know it's always that might just be a segment now. Like what you apologize to me for are the listeners. Jackass. To you.

Amanda

Okay, good.

Josh

Dear listener, this is us letting you right the hell into our marriage. This is what it's like. So my apology to you is that I have found myself in these this the first two days of our vacation to be really on edge and borderline cranky. And yes, it's been a very stressful weekend. We will talk about why it has been. But also, there's an internal factor that that I just sussed out this morning as we are watching the World Cup game. What did we watch? We watched the replay of Argentina.

Amanda

I just watched this game. Why can't I think of who they played? Jordan.

Josh

We're watching that, and I'm getting increasingly agitated because Winthrop is jumping around the room and flipping over. And then the dog starts to bark, which that sets me off anyway, but it just really got to me. And so I stood up, I had to leave the room. And I'm sure that you noticed that. Because everything was just getting to me and making me nervous. And I realized that it's likely because I've gone back to drinking coffee.

Amanda

Oh, yeah. Can you stop that again?

Josh

No, I'm gonna. I'm gonna. So I was on the whole matcha tip. Um, that was great, and I love that, and it

Coffee Jitters And Apology Rules

Josh

was it served to really energize me and calm me down. I really appreciate it. But matcha's kind of hard to get.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

Josh

I guess I could make it in the morning before I leave and take it with me. But to me, I feel like making coffee is easier. Don't ask me why. I'm not here to argue about it. It just is.

Amanda

That I'm not gonna argue with you. We can make a batch on Sundays. Like when we go to the farmer's market and you get matcha from the nitro guy honey guy, he has like a batch already made up in a in a like container that he makes with oat milk. So we just need to do that.

Josh

Well, we can look it up. Not the point. The point is is that coffee really sets me off. And like even today, I feel really agitated.

Amanda

Did you have coffee this morning?

Josh

I did, yeah. Yeah, this is what I'm saying. Well, no, then I'll just let it go and then that'll be that. And we just need to make sure that that unless I'm facing a full day's of work, you know, which yeah, I can handle that because I have a a way to channel it. But if I'm trying to calm down, if I'm trying to sit and watch something, when I'm on coffee, I need I treat that like work. You know what I'm saying? So I sit there and I'm like, everyone fucking better be quiet while I watch this fun soccer game.

Amanda

Okay, so what you're describing, your inability to like handle the irritation, yeah, yeah, that's perimenopause. I mean, that's what it feels like all the time for me without coffee. Like, I just that's just all the time.

Josh

Well, you freaked me out there because I look down like, yeah, my cleavage is getting rather voluptuous, but I don't think that I'm experiencing perimenopause in the first person quite yet. Yes. Anyway, all that is to say the Wilsons have

World Cup Fever And Picking Clubs

Josh

World Cup fever.

Amanda

Woo! Some of us are enjoying it more than others today.

Josh

Well, okay, all right.

Amanda

All right, see?

Josh

Did that count as an apology? I apologize. I will say it and because you this is a thing that you do.

Amanda

Oh, no, no, no. You're backtracking on your apology. You're all done. You're shaking your fists. This is not an apology.

Josh

Yeah, but you have rules for how you like to be apologized to, and if I don't meet those rules, you'll just wait in silence, and you know that the silence just winds me up more than anything. I can say, like I did at the start of this podcast, I need to offer you an apology for this, this, this, and that. But if I don't say the words, I apologize, then you just sit in silence and wait, like like the statue of an angry Buddha.

Amanda

Truck. I'm not gonna apologize for that.

Josh

No, I'm not asking you to. I'm just telling you that that winds me up.

Amanda

Okay.

Josh

Anyway.

Amanda

All right, got it.

Josh

So we're we're way into world. So it surprises me how much you're into world. I really am. Yeah, why is that?

Amanda

I don't know. I don't know. It's I don't know. That I said I don't know three times. I've actually gotten into trying to understand this game. I still don't when you watch the Premier League, I still it just feels like a really long experience for me. But maybe because it's in the US, maybe because we drove past the stadium when we were going to Miami last weekend or whatever, maybe it's because Winthrop has really gotten into it and that's very charming. Maybe it's because this messy story is interesting. Muffy got into it because two of her best friends are Brazilian and they're having Brazilian parties. So I just think that there's more of a personal connection, I guess. I don't know.

Josh

So you don't think that we could watch, like, let's say, when this is all done, we can watch Premier League together.

Amanda

Only if I choose a team and decide that I'm gonna that's gonna be my team and I'm gonna watch it for that season. Okay, well. Then I could do that. But if it's just like a re because you just you'll put on like an Arsenal or Chelsea replay from five months ago. I don't care about that. Like, that's we've been there, done that. The Belsons have already cried about it. Like we've moved on.

Josh

Well, we should then pick a team. I would like to pick a team that's a good team. I have years of following the Miami Dolphins and still, and and they repeatedly break my heart. Um, so we have to pick a team if we're gonna pick a team, because I'm all for that. We're sitting here in in our pub recording, and we are surrounded by football team flags, and by football I mean soccer.

Amanda

Well, no, but only the two only two Premier League flags that are in here right now, because we're waiting on other people to send them to us, are Arsenal and Chelsea. Right. Arsenal won the Premier League, right? So that would be your best bet for picking a team that you know went all the way.

SPEAKER_06

Right.

Amanda

But then if you're gonna pick Arsenal, I'm gonna have to pick Chelsea. One because I will support Gavin, but two, because I need to go against you, and three the three because my friend Brittany wears a Chelsea jersey. I don't know. But also, we the only other football flag that we have up in here is the inner Miami. So I could watch that because Messi's interesting to watch. Yes, but uh I mean, but then that's a different league, right? So I don't know.

Josh

I th I'm fine with you um picking Chelsea and having that be. But first of all, I could never root for a um a club whose name just sounds like the British version of a Karen.

Amanda

No, Chelsea.

Josh

No, no, Chelsea wants the manager. Calm down.

Amanda

That's not how that goes. Also, like you keep saying that you don't like their colors. Arsenal, I don't like Arsenal's logo, like it just looks like I thought that was a pretzel at first. I get that it's a canon, I don't like it. It's very aggressive, it's very like patriarchal. I don't like it. Chelsea has flowers and volleyballs, and um, I like it. But here's the thing are we just making our identities just way too entwined with the Belsons? Like, do we not have an identity outside of our relationship with them?

Josh

No, I I do believe that we do, and if anything, you mention them a lot more in this podcast than I ever do.

Amanda

Oh, you know what I found out last night? Neighbor Kate thought they were a couple.

SPEAKER_02

That's good. I like that.

Amanda

Because we were talking about it, and and then we you said something about one of them, and and she said, Oh, you know, I said something about brothers, and she said, What? And and she said, Oh, not really having investigated very much and just listening to you guys talk about it on the podcast, I thought they were a couple, which made me really happy.

Josh

I mean, they kind of are. They bicker like an old married couple, yeah, they do, they do. So anyway, uh, you know, we're not taking on their identities because who would want to do that? It's just a shortcut. Listen, all I need to hear is that Arsenal is winning and has won. And I will, I will like again, because I'm uh I'm shell-shocked by the Miami Dolphins and really most Miami teams, although the Heat have done something this year where they've picked up Giannis, so hopefully that will be a thing. The Hurricanes did go to the national championship for football last year, although they made a poor showing of it once they were there. And we also have Gators gear here, which we have to be because they pay you lots of money.

Amanda

They do pay me money, but also um I wouldn't get excited about them doing much for you in the realm of sports. Well, no, volleyball's good, gymnastics. Basketball just won the national basketball's fine. Um, but it's a football team. I think it's okay.

Josh

So Arsenal for Josh, Chelsea for Amanda. We're set. Boom. We're gonna start watching Premier League and carry on the the World Cup soccer fever really into our sunset years, and it's gonna be excellent.

Amanda

But who wait, we have other British friends. Who would Danny Buckets want me to support?

Josh

Tottenham.

Amanda

So maybe I go there.

Josh

Yeah, no. Also, Big Wayne, our friend Big Wayne, who um he loves Tottenham and he's here in the States. He he works with me actually.

Amanda

Um God, I really had no idea who Big Wayne was. I was like, who is this a person I met when we were you we were in the UK? I know who Wayne from work is, but it's very confused. So Okay, well, why hasn't Wayne come to the pub with his Tottenham jersey on?

Josh

Uh we're gonna have Wayne and Al come at some point soon.

Amanda

All right.

Josh

All that is to say that I'm happy. I'd rather you pick Chelsea because we have the flag here already. Yeah, all right. Okay, so boom, we are set, done, sorted. But uh, all that is to say that we're way into the World Cup and we're really, really enjoying it, and the whole family is enjoying it.

Amanda

It's very cute watching because Winthrop will watch it, watch it. It's not just like oh, and he'll ask me the rules and all this, and of course I do. He taught you rules, huh? He taught you a new rule this week. That was a thing you learned this week. That is, yeah, yeah.

Miami Trip For Study Abroad Dropoff

Josh

So moving on, we went to Miami. As Amanda mentioned, we did pass um Hard Rock Stadium on our way down to Miami last week. We were going to Miami because we were taking Muffy to get on an airplane to go to Turkey.

Amanda

That's right. Muffy is studying abroad um through a UF sponsored study abroad program. We didn't just turn her loose in Turkey.

Josh

Turkey A. Turkey.

Amanda

But she says that her professor, who is a native, doesn't say it that way. So I'm confused.

Josh

Well, I've read that that's the way some natives say maybe it's an accent thing. Yeah, I don't know. It's like the New Yorker version of people from Turkey.

Amanda

So we've been getting pictures of lots of cats, because this is a thing in Turkey, the cats of Turkey. Um, but yeah, she's there. Uh she's got five more weeks left in her program, and she's doing well. It was a bit bumpy. She missed us. Your face made her cry yesterday. But she's good.

Josh

So we did have to travel down to Miami International Airport, and of course, I lived in Miami growing up. Like that was that's my hometown.

Amanda

We miss her.

unknown

Yes.

Amanda

I just realized that she's I said she misses us, but we miss her too.

Josh

Yes, of course we miss her.

Amanda

I know, but listen, Blue Ke listens.

Josh

Okay, very good.

Amanda

Blue key, we miss her.

Josh

Okay, very good. Lit I told her to listen because I'd like to get some some listens and turns.

Amanda

She does not want to listen to us. Huh? She does not want to listen to us. Does she miss us? She misses us. She's totally charmed that one of her best friends loves the podcast, who, by the way, is an excellent um Wilson pub pup sitter. Um, but she does not at all want to listen to this podcast. Okay.

Josh

Driving down to Miami, I knew would be a special kind of treat. And you were real grump about it. I well, yeah, because uh the the first five hours of fine, the last hour is fucking misery, especially once you pass Fort Lauderdale. Yeah. Now the time of week that we went, we missed the big traffic. Now it was actually a relatively easy thing, but I did feel the blood pressure start to go up when we started to get into like the Clover Leaf Expressway and all of these different things and the construction, my God, it looked positively Mad Maxian down there. It was, I was looking for Thunderdome because the the streets are torn up and it doesn't look like there's any sort of plan. It's like they contracted with one group of people to demo, and they've not quite yet gotten to the other group of people to come and build the fucking roads the where they need to go. So there was that, right? Then we get to the airport, and one thing that I insisted upon, even though we had to pay more money, was that we were gonna stay in the airport hotel so that we didn't have to navigate on the morning of her flight parking and finding out where we need to go and all this and that. It's just Miami International Airport is stressful enough anyway.

Amanda

No, this was a really good call by you.

Josh

We're getting really close to the airport terminal, and I asked you to call the hotel to find

Airport Hotel Move To Lower Stress

Josh

out where their parking was. Now, what had you found out about their parking from their website?

Amanda

Their website said we have designated parking. In our experience, we have stayed in the airport hotel in Orlando, and it's very straightforward. It is you drive up, it will say hotel, you go toward hotel, there's self-parking valet, very straightforward. So that was what I was expecting. I check on the website, I look at the FAQ's parking, we have designated parking. Okay, this is what we're expecting. Not to be found.

Josh

So I call I I told you to call, and what did they say?

Amanda

They said we don't have parking, we're we're in the airport. I understand that. But your thing says designated parking. No, no, no. There's you just need to park at the airport. So then I did a like broader Google search of people, not their website, and it was said to park in the dolphin garage. And then Winthrop's like, oh, I saw dolphin, but we had to like circle three more times or something to find the damn thing.

Josh

Miami International Airport in general is much like Miami, and Miami has been for decades. I mean, I grew up there, and that is there's nothing that's really clearly labeled in Miami International Airport.

Amanda

That's not intuitive at all.

Josh

Oh, no, no, no, no. Well, or or like it runs on a vibe that I'm just not on. I'm granting this as a possibility. First of all, Miami International Airport is one of the most international airports that you could ever hope to go to. You go in there, boom, you hear all these different languages. It's actually delightful as a sociological experience, especially if you don't have to get any shit done. Um, but you hear all these languages and you see all these different types of people, that is fine, that is lovely. You would think that they would bend over backwards to make sure that there is as much signage that makes sense for the most amount of people. They just said there is no way that we could possibly communicate in ways where everyone who comes into this airport can understand. So fuck it. Just good luck, guys. We're just gonna have our planes over down here. We're gonna have there's gonna be restaurants sometimes and sometimes not. There's gonna be all of these uh check-in places that aren't clearly marked and just go.

Amanda

You know what it reminded me of when we watched the Amazing Race and they aren't allowed their phones, like so, and they're just trying to have to figure it out in the world. That's what that felt like. Yeah, we had a phone. We even had a hologram. They put a hologram in the middle of the thing where you could walk up to her and ask her questions.

Josh

Yes, but uh you'd asked her. It wasn't helpful. No, because she said, Oh, I can't answer that question.

Amanda

She told me that's what she told me. I asked her where something was, and she said, I can't answer that.

Josh

It reminded me, uh, it's the airport version of a flea market because there's just all these different booths. You got to go up to the booth to find out what they're selling. No signs. I did not like that. But having gone to the airport and having had time in the evening to kind of walk around and find things, that's the way to do it. But no way, as you're under the stress, yeah, which airports are going to be stressful because you know that you've got the security line. And if you look at someone, you know, stink-eyed, they're gonna pull you out and you're gonna have to strip and they're gonna check all your things and whatever. That's already stressful enough, right? Yeah. And am I gonna be late? And is my flight going to be canceled? Because that happens a lot now, too. Add to that the fact that that it's like you've been put in the middle of this giant airport space with a bag on your head and told, you cannot take off this bag. Sorry, FAA regulations, bag must stay on. Yeah, but because we went before and we sussed everything out, it was it was very smooth. The next time. And I can guarantee you that it would not have been because I know myself and how stressed Miami makes me.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

Josh

Right? Yeah, like and like I was saying, an hour away from Miami, I could feel physically things were changing and shifting in my body that I was not comfortable with. And that worked out great. Loved it. Best experience I've ever had in that airport.

Amanda

Okay, but up until then, I mean, we it was it was brilliant that we were able to walk. We found our check-in counter the night before, like we knew where like there was Dunkin' Donuts, they wanted donuts, like, and and she was already stressed about it. So alleviating all of the stress was really, really good. Um, but it was just weird. There was the hologram, and then we ate at this this place, Air Margaritaville or whatever it was trying to be.

Josh

Jimmy Buffett property, right?

Amanda

You had a Caesar salad. Yeah. Winthrop and I split nachos.

Josh

Sure.

Amanda

She had a side of rice and a side of beans.

Josh

Right.

Amanda

She had a coke, we had club soda, right? He had water, $90.

Josh

Right. Everything cost the same, which kind of confused me. So it was like, like, what what

Miami Airport Chaos And Price Shock

Josh

was my salad? Like $15 or something.

Amanda

No, your salad was like $23. $23.

Josh

Something like that.

Amanda

My nachos were $25. It was insane.

Josh

There was no difference in the price of the different things.

Amanda

Her rice and beans were $20. A side of rice was $10, a side of beans was $20.

Josh

So what are they doing there?

Amanda

I don't know.

Josh

What's going on?

Amanda

It was insane. And we were, and Winthrop was wanting ice cream, so we were wandering around and trying to find something, and we were in the little like news agent's place, and there was a bag of Reese's cups that you would like get at Publix or Target or whatever, individually wrapped ones, but like the sharing size that here I think are like seven or eight bucks, $22. Like, and I understand inflation, I get it, and we are all saying that everything is so much more expensive, but that blew my mind. Like, I who's buying the $22 bag of chocolate? I don't understand.

Josh

People are clearly desperate. But that's what happens. That's why, like, we came in the night before we settled in, and because we weren't stressed, we could see behind that's right.

Amanda

We didn't feel like we had to buy the thing and get on the plane.

Josh

Right. So we're sitting at this restaurant, and all of a sudden I hear a dog bark, right? So there's a dog behind us.

Amanda

There's two dogs behind you.

Josh

Then I noticed another dog. Then I look because it's an kind of an open air to the terminal restaurant, so you can see the people at check-in. Fucking people in the in the line with dogs. And I don't think they're service dogs, they're just like, No, no, no. They were like little like shihtzus and things. When did this happen? Maybe this is a thing now that I'm but we have traveled by air extensively in our marriage. Yeah, and it's only in Miami that I've noticed a barnyard of animals. Now, very Miami. Like if I'd have looked and seen like a goat just wandering down the terminal, I would not have been as surprised as, you know, if I'm somewhere else. Some roosters, chickens, roosters, yes. I'll never forget. I was in Miami and I decided to go to a locally owned uh grocery store across the street from my new apartment when I'd moved in, right? And so I went in there, and the first thing that I saw that should not have surprised me, but it did because I was used to just going to the publics down the street, is a pickup truck with um boxes covered with chicken wires with chickens in them.

Amanda

In inside the grocery store?

Josh

No, no, no. A pickup truck in the parking lot.

Amanda

I thought it was like a display. It was connected.

Josh

No word of a lie. Then I look over and someone is walking their goat on a rope. Yes. Oh yes. And I'm like, oh, that's right. I'm in Miami. Now, what I don't know if the goat was gonna be used for milk, for meat, or as a sacrifice to Chango. I don't know.

Amanda

This is all very sad.

Josh

So that's Miami, and that was Miami International Airport. Couldn't understand where we were going and Barnyard animals. Now, add to that the fact that we're sitting here in this restaurant, and I look up and I see a policewoman on a bike ride through the restaurant. Like, like not leisurely, like she needed to get somewhere. She rode. I'm like, what is going on here?

Amanda

There were paramedics like in a golf cart behind her, but they were taking a shortcut through the through the kitchen, basically. It was the weirdest thing. And then like we were on an escalator, and there was some conspicuous matter at the bottom of the escalator.

Josh

There was there was some, you know, how at the bottom of the escalator, if there's like a a thing there, it'll just kind of stick uh at the threshold between the stairs disappearing under the ground and the metal grate that you know that allows it to do that. And there was like brown matter, a clump of brown matter, and I don't know what it was. Amanda, you need to step to the side of that. And then I'm just looking at it, looking clearly like an idiot. Some people go by, I'm like, don't step on that. And I thought it was- You saved them. I guess I did. I actually think that it was because I looked at it way too hard. Yeah. Right? Because first of all, we're in Miami. Of course, there's shit on the on the escalators, my first thought. But then I'm like, this is just weird. And it was dry, yeah, but still clumped together. So I think what it was was a falafel. Yeah, it's a little bit. It was very grainy. Yeah. That someone had dropped, but no one moved it. Now, I'm saying no one associated with the airport. I'm not gonna, it's not my job. I do not clean up after, you know, goats in the airport. Besides, what's a goat doing on an escalator? Not my job. Yeah, the whole thing was just So then then no, I'm not done. Because then we go to check into the Miami Airport Hotel, very convenient, loved it, didn't pay that much more, and it was certainly worth you know, its time and money in stress and frustration. But this thing could not have looked any more like an airport hotel than it actually did. Like you would think that they would take a little bit of pains to like give it a theme, you know, like Miami theme. And so it has palm trees and pastel and uh no, you're in the hallway to your room and it looks like an airport hallway.

Amanda

Yeah.

Josh

Knock down ceiling, like really low, real bland and and and or white. And I just felt like I was actually we're in the wrong place, and I'm walking to the back offices.

Amanda

We're like in the yeah, the terminal offices. Yeah, it was definitely an old hotel that I mean, it was clean, it was fine, it sufficed, but it I mean, having stayed at the Hyatt in Orlando uh airport, it was a very different experience. That one is fancy and all this stuff, right?

Josh

And I noticed that next to the elevator of the hotel were two abstract art prints. I mean, they were kind of pastel y, right? One on either side of the elevator. We go in the room, those same two prints are in a couple of things.

Amanda

All they could afford, they got the rights for those two pieces.

Josh

They have built an entire ecosystem of disappointment in this hotel, right? I am convinced actually that's that somewhere in a warehouse, the general manager's cousin who likes to paint, has produced all of these things, and somehow we've funneled the money that was gonna go towards signage into buying. We want these two prints for our 500 rooms and each of our elevator lobbies, and and that then we're done. That's what they got. I can imagine the conversation. Can your cousin paint? Well, technically, all right, deal done. Done.

Amanda

I it is the only hotel I've ever been in that the in-room coffee machine was a cafecito machine. Oh, well, like it would that was pretty cool, right?

Josh

Yeah, yeah. No, my uh advice to you in any case that if you have the ability to go and get an airport hotel room the night before, if you can do that, then you should do that. It's definitely worth the price that you pay, but particularly if it's one of these big cities. Or Orlando's a dream because you're the hotel is like bada boom bada bing right there. It's at security, it's at security, it's great, it's perfect. Yeah, so

A New Hobby Idea Goes Off Rails

Josh

all right.

Amanda

So, you know how we talk about I was gonna do these little houses. Like I'm trying to find some sort of hobby. You you people all have hobbies here, and I'm trying to find some sort of hobby and I was gonna do these little houses, and I got over that.

Josh

But I'm really What do you mean by you were gonna paint these little houses and make them available for sale? Yeah, yeah.

Amanda

I was gonna do people's houses, like I was gonna do people's houses. I was like little little replica because I've done this before and I've done well with it, but I don't have the energy anymore to do the little replicas. I was gonna do like bird houses that look like your house and that kind of thing. Got it, didn't get very far. Um, I spent like seven years trying to paint the front of one church and decided I was done. I couldn't, I was very unhappy. I was displeased. So that is not my my hobby anymore. I'm trying to focus on analog creation, right? Because like AI has my brain feeling like I I can't think anymore. And so I've been crocheting more, like as we sit and watch the World Cup. I'm working on a blanket, I haven't worked on in a while. But last night you were asleep, and I was digitally hobbying, I was doom scrolling, and I came across a video, and I think this might be my new hobby. So I I sent it to you. I'd like for you to watch it and um just get your feedback on if you think this is a viable hobby for me or not.

Josh

Does this involve stripping?

Amanda

No, it's the first video.

Josh

The first video, okay. Here we go.

SPEAKER_01

This is compelling so that way my client can wear her partner semen sample in her hair.

Josh

No.

SPEAKER_01

And without having to worry about watching it. Of course, she sent in her partner's semen sample. No, she sends it into a powder and I incorporated it into the powder.

Josh

I'm so angry.

Amanda

She calls it Jizzy jewelry.

Josh

I could not be any more upset than I am right now. So let me get this straight. You send a semen sample to this woman. Yep, and rather than call the police, she takes it and she makes it into jewelry, into like a hair clip.

Amanda

Or a necklace, yeah.

Josh

A a pearl necklace. Yes.

Amanda

That's apropos, yeah.

Josh

No, wait a second. So you want to do this. Now I would assume that were you to do this, that mine would be the only sample that you would use.

Amanda

Well, I'm gonna give other people yours.

Josh

If you are soliciting uh semen from other people, then the amount of money that I will need for therapy has not even been been printed yet.

Amanda

Oh my god, I was laughing so hard when I was watching. And it's like a it's a real thing. I was like, this is clearly satire.

Josh

Of course it's a real thing because people like buy uh women's farts in glass containers. I said, So of course it's real. I had no doubt that it's real.

Amanda

I sent it to LaKendra and I don't think she's talking to me anymore.

Josh

I don't want to talk to you.

Amanda

She just responded, I'm sorry, with like an ellipse. Was like, I don't even know how to process.

Josh

The ellipses was I'm sorry. What made you think you could send like something like that to me?

Amanda

Is what the I just I sent it with you're welcome. Just it's just it's now a thing. It's a thing that I know about, it's now a thing you know about.

Josh

Oh god. And of course, the the thing that what they didn't show the sample, right? Which thankfully, but the jewelry, of course, is all white.

Amanda

Or like that like milky, kind of like creamy sort of color.

Josh

We're all right.

Amanda

Like hot brie. That's what it looks like.

Josh

Okay. Has the internet finally broken you? Did your spouse just read you a story about jewelry made from semen samples? What We Learned This Week

Josh

And now a segment that people are just waiting for every single week.

Amanda

When we remember to do it.

Josh

When we remember to do it. What did I learn this week? Amanda, what did you learn this week?

Amanda

I learned why Heinz 57 is called Heinz 57. So yesterday we were at um a brunch place and there was ketchup on the table. And I can't remember if Winthrop mentioned it or if you mentioned it, but somebody said Heinz 57, and we started talking about why, where did the 57 come from? And you because it and then Winthrop said it says 57 varieties on there. And you said there's no way there's 57 varieties of ketchup, or and then I was saying probably more condiments or products. So I looked it up. It's was from an 1800s, I'm not exactly late 1800s, I don't know the exact year, marketing campaign where Mr. Heinz was in New York and walked past a shoe store and they said something like they had 21 different styles of shoes or something. And he thought that this was a catchy sort of way of getting people's attention. So he decided to name his or the marketing campaign was Heinz 57, and 57's a made-up number. Five was his favorite number, seven was his wife's favorite number, so he just made it Heinz 57, and here we are a hundred plus years later, and we're still using the 57.

Josh

5'7.

Amanda

Yeah, I know you did that at the table. 5'7. Winthrop had zero time for you about that. But um, though it did debunk your thing though, because at the time that they did the slogan, they had over 60 products.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

Amanda

So I mean it they they did have enough, but 57 plus a few. So that's what I learned this week. Why Heinz 57 is called Heinz 57. You are welcome. And I bet the thing that a lot of you learned this week is that there are um creators who make semen jewelry.

unknown

That's right.

Josh

Nautically themed jewelry. Wonderful.

Amanda

Yes.

Josh

What did I learn this week? Um, well, Monday morning I'm at work and minding my own business, drinking my coffee, getting ready to nose into the grindstone. And I get an email on my personal email on my phone. Email. I'm like, huh. And it had a name in it, and it had a province or a city in Canada in it, right? Not ready to spill all these details for everyone because no one's business. But let's say that it was Natalie from Montreal. Yes. I'm like, okay. So I open it up and it basically says, I don't know how to say this in an email, but I think I might be your sister.

unknown

Yes.

Amanda

Yup. And then you just screenshot it and send it to me. Not even like, can I call you? This thing happened, just here you go. Usually when you send me screenshots, it's like ridiculousness.

Josh

I would say that that on the scale between happens every day and kind of unbelievable, that is near 11.5.

Amanda

I mean, it's never happened to you before.

Josh

What has happened to me before is I've gotten spam and scam emails, right? The the level of sophistication that scammers are are Yeah, it's scary. It is scary. Now you can get letters that look really, really legitimate from your bank. And we got one yesterday, actually, um, claiming that my account was in trouble, but hey, I've never had an account at that bank. So the level of sophistication for scamming now is pretty daggum high. And so I get this this email, and I'm like, oh, well, this can't be real. But then, like, what if it is type of thing? Um, because I was adopted, and so there is questions, there could be questions about you know, other people out there, I suppose. So, first thing I do is run this email through a couple of different um uh AI accounts to say, does this have the hallmarks of a scam template? Right? Might as well start somewhere. And both of them said, nope, this could be legit. It doesn't really sound like a scam. So I'm like, what am I gonna do now? I respond something to the effect of I hope you understand, I'm gonna be super careful. I know the name of my biological father, don't know much else, but I know that. Can you can you tell me that? Now, even as I sent that, I knew, well, that's information that people can find out. But what do you have?

Amanda

They're trying to scam you for. I mean, the people, the scammers don't know.

Josh

It's like fishing. Yeah, you don't know what fish are in the podcast. I mean, we're on this internationally known podcast.

Amanda

That's right. That's right. I forgot.

Josh

So she answered, she gave me the name and a whole lot of other information that kind of bolstered the case.

Amanda

Yeah.

Josh

We end up going back and forth, and guess what? I've got a sister out there.

Amanda

Did you? Because the biological um what's the resemblance is strong.

Josh

Not with your sister, but with your no, she sent uh a picture of uh grandparents that I didn't know that I had. Um and the one looks a lot like my oldest kid, Daniel.

Amanda

Who looks like you? Like I see you in it, but yeah, no, it is there is this is definitely it's a real thing. So it's been two weeks now, yeah. Um, because we didn't we didn't record last week, and so and that was one of the reasons why.

Josh

First, Muffy was was going out of town, and that was really stressful, and still continues to be a little stressful, although she's doing great. And the second is oh, by the way, you have a sister, and you know, we've been uh talking a lot, and she really is wonderful. It's the the best I could have asked for and more um about this. But you know, as I'm having these conversations with my sister, my past is being retconned here.

Amanda

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Josh

Things didn't go down the way I thought that they went down, right? And it's just it's just really, really someone asked me, they said, uh, do you think that there's any more um siblings out there? There could be.

Amanda

It's been really nice. I've chatted with her too. She's lovely, and it's just this is it's interesting because this is like you are retconning your history, but I'm also reframing you as my husband because now you're this different person. Or you're not different. You have this other what is wrong with you?

Josh

I'm not a different person.

Amanda

No, you have this other part of you that's quite lovely that's connecting with a sibling. I don't know you in having relationships with siblings.

Josh

Yeah.

Amanda

So it's it's interesting.

Josh

All I know is that I woke up Monday morning and I was who I am, and then Monday afternoon I'm in a in a Christopher Nolan movie. I don't know what to say. Yeah, but no, she's delightful and she listens. So I I I know that that you are out there listening, and at some point maybe I can even have you come on. Huh? What about that?

Amanda

A little family reunion.

Josh

Yeah, yeah, that would be that would be interesting. Because she doesn't know any of my secrets. It's wonderful. It's like the best, the best way to get a family, to get a family that you didn't grow up with, and they see all your ugly side, and and now I can just be, you know, happy old bald josh. The grow growing pains were avoided. Love it.

Amanda

All right. Well, that's what that's I learned about Heinz 57, and Josh learned he had a sister. One of these things is not like the other.

Josh

Five seven.

Amanda

Oh my god, you must stop.

An Email That Changes Everything

Josh

It's email time. If you would like to email us about any old thing, email us at familiarwilsons at gmail.com. We have two today. One is from neighbor Kate and one is from Refined Gay Jeff.

Amanda

Yay, Jeff.

Josh

So let oh, you didn't say yay Kate. Interesting.

Amanda

Honest to God, as soon as I said it, I was like, no, I gotta say yay, Kate. The only reason I said yay, Jeff is because we haven't heard from Jeff in a while.

Josh

Okay, very good. Um, so this is this is from Kate. This is from a collection of post-it notes.

Amanda

I love this so much. That she just took a picture of and sent to you.

Josh

She was writing notes on the episode previous. So she says, Hello, Wilsons. I hope you'll read my email on the podcast, even though I have never had a random penis touching goal.

Amanda

That's a throwback to the last time we did here for Refined Gay Jeff.

Josh

Yes, Refined Gay Jeff has those. She says, It seems to me that you are missing out on a collection of fascinating guests by not exchanging contact information with all those new friends you're making. But also that would make it weird. Never mind. So we met these interesting people in Disney Springs. They fed Josh sausages, they fed me a sausage off their plate, but I did not get their contact information. You know, when you say it out like that. She continues, What is it with these children and the underwear? Yes, that's right. Winthrop has a problem with underwear that isn't just a solid color. Yeah.

Amanda

He doesn't want the any any kind of pattern or character.

Josh

She says, Leah said I have to buy her new ones because hers are embarrassing. Why? No one is seeing them. This is my point. Also, don't tell her I told you that or she will murder me in my sleep. That was on a post-it note. Amanda seems to think that the basketball team in Houston is the Spurs. So that's what this is referring to. She says, I laughed out loud at Houston Spurs, but I'm only feeling superior because I went to school with Tim Duncan, who spent his entire NBA career with the Spurs. How am I just now finding out that she was what does this mean you went to school with Tim Duncan? Do you have stories? How have you never mentioned this? Are you in contact with him now? He's really tall. Has he always been that tall? Seems like a nice guy, but very quiet. Has he always been quiet? I need to know.

SPEAKER_02

Who's Tim Duncan?

Josh

She continues. I can't sleep without my sleep headphones. Mine don't leave a mark. Let's discuss.

Amanda

All right. Kate and the superior ones.

Josh

Mine leave the mark of what looks like a toilet seat on my head. So yes, we need to talk about that. Uh she refers to a little bit of a song that I played and that I had had written and performed with a friend called Um What is it called? It's it's about Albert Einstein. Oh, yeah. Maybe I'll play it at the end of this episode. Yeah, yeah, I definitely.

Amanda

I've forgotten about it, and then I listened to the episode, and I was like, oh yeah, I like this song.

Josh

She says, Why did that Albert Einstein song make me want to cry? WTF is wrong with me. It's probably paramenopause. All right, folks, I want you to lower your expectations. It's just a little pop song. I will play it at the end of the episode, and it is written and played by me with vocals by Charles Otis. So that'll be coming up later. She says, I don't touch my phone while I'm driving because I really want to get a perfect score on my insurance's safe driver app, which is impossible because I keep getting dinged for harsh braking because people are always cutting me off.

Amanda

Me too, Kate. And like I wasn't even being cut off, and I was getting dinged for harsh brak braking. But we have exceeded um the period in which Geico needed to check all of our safe drivings, and we got the discount. So keep going. You'll get there.

Josh

So I can delete that app from my phone now?

Amanda

No, because if you need roadside service, that's how you receive it. Okay, but you can turn off the tracking part.

Josh

Um, she says, however, I'm definitely gonna start praying at red lights. Here you go. Not for the people around me so much as for my general list of grievances. Maybe it's less praying and more yelling out my window. I need to rethink this. There's something on this note about Festivus and the airing of the grievances. I'm not sure how we ended up here. She says, Finally, the never-ending story's main character is indeed named Bastion, not to be confused with the structure Bastion.

Amanda

Oh, did we say it differently? Is it pronounced differently?

Josh

It's spelled different. There's an A N, a Bastion, but an O N on Bastion. This led me into a mental rabbit hole about how traumatizing 80s movies are on contemporary rewatch, and how I recently discussed this with a Universal Studios gift shop employee who was about my age and absolutely delighted that Princess Moonbeam, which is another one of her daughters, had chosen an ET doll for purchase. Anyway, she says the trauma is why Gen X is so tough. That's something to think about.

Amanda

That's why we all need therapy.

Josh

She says, Good lord, this is a long email, even after I went back and cut out the nonsensical parts.

Amanda

Did you not just traumatic these movies on Rewatch, but man, were they overtly sexual?

Josh

Yeah.

Amanda

And so racist.

Josh

Oh, yeah.

Amanda

Like really bad, these movies that we like were exposed to as children and thought nothing about.

Josh

What was that movie where the the kid in it dies of a bunch of bee stings or something?

Amanda

That's my girl.

Josh

Right. That is that the eighties? That's the eighties?

Amanda

Yeah, I think it might be early nineties, but yeah, Macaulay Culkin dies from a bee sting. And yeah, no, it's bad.

Josh

See, they can't take the kid from home alone, right? And then cast him in a movie where he dies of bee stings. Yeah, no. Can't do that. Because kids, you know, you're not expecting it, right? Yeah. And way especially way back then, like all you had was the trailers. Yeah. And if there was reviews in the movie, they were spoiler-free. So you don't know.

Amanda

And it was just Siskel and Ebert. Right, right.

Josh

You don't know what you're stepping into. I rem I will never forget this. Maybe I've told this story before. Me and my um childhood friend, uh David Giddens, right? We're like 12 or 13 or something, and we want to go see Robin Williams' latest movie, which was called Moscow on the Hudson. We know about Robin Williams because he is Mork from Orc, Nanu Nano, this cute little almost kid show that's a comedy. You remember?

Amanda

I didn't watch it, but I'm aware.

Josh

Morkin Mindy was so he's like this cute little alien who at that talks like this, and we're like, oh, we love him. Let's go see this movie. We go with his mother, and then there was a lady who was watching me, a neighbor of mine at that time. So me and David happily go with his mother and and my friend, or my dad. Your babysitter or whatever. Whatever. She's older, they're both the same age. Uh, into this movie, get our tickets, go sit down. They sit three or four rows behind us. We sit closer to the front, we settle in, and off we go. One of the first scenes of the movie is set in Russia.

Amanda

I've never heard of this movie.

Josh

Robin Williams, I think, was talking to this other guy, and I want to say it's been so long, but even if this isn't right, this is what's been scratched into the cave wall of my mind. Um, Robin Williams and this other character are at night, they're talking about trying to buy toilet paper, right? Okay, because toilet paper's hard to find, and then they start talking about how they put dissidents' testicles on the Kremlin wall as punishment, and then they start talking about all this other really foul stuff, and David and I are bright red, yeah, and just like, what is this that we've stepped into? Of course, I'm here to say that David and I were not innocents. We had watched, like gotten VHS of like porkies and what's but the two adults are sitting behind us, each of us, because we talked about it later, are thinking to ourselves, oh shit, what do we do?

Amanda

All right, so did you stay for the movie?

Josh

So the movie goes on and it just gets worse, right?

Amanda

Is it meant to be a comedy?

Josh

Yeah, it is, it's kind of a comedy, but a comedy in the 80s kind of way, where like it's got heavy subject matter as well. But we're coming in here again expecting, you know, more theater, and we're getting all this blue language. So as if we were attached at the brainstem, we both stand up at the same time. You didn't talk about it ahead of time, and walk right out of the theater, and the the two adults with us stood up and and walked out of the theater, drove us home in silence. Nobody talked about it, never talked about it.

Amanda

That's so funny. But you and David talked about it.

Josh

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, we talked about it. And of course, uh 50 some odd years later, I'm still thinking about it.

Amanda

Yeah. That's so I the But that was the 80s for you.

Josh

It's like you never knew what you were gonna get. It's not like today at all. I and parents were oblivious anyway, right? Yeah, and what a nice time that must have been to be a parent. I think about a a lot, like how just carefree parenting must have been. Like you had a whole bunch of other shit to deal with in your life, but you don't know what to do with your kid? Kick them out on Saturday morning. You don't have to deal with them all day, and they'll come back Saturday night. That's what it was like to be a parent. No one talks about how wonderful it must have been to be a parent. Yeah, but they all talk with the we all talk about as Gen X, you know, how it was to grow up in that, but to be a parent, oh my god.

Amanda

I don't know. The only movie experience I had that I can remember that I have like that was when we got a VCR and my dad went to rent a movie and brought it home, and my dad liked Westerns, so we were gonna have family movie night and watch Blazing Saddles.

Josh

Yes.

Amanda

Shirley did not handle it well. I mean, it was I wasn't super aware of what was happening, other than my mom getting really mad and making him turn it off.

Josh

But yeah. That's a heck of a movie right there. All right, let's skip on over happily to Refine Gay Jeff's email. He says, Happy Pride Wilson's. I didn't want the month to expire without telling you that I am thankful for friends like you that don't pass judgment on people because of the way that they're wired.

Amanda

Happy pride, Jeff.

Josh

Happy pride. He says I wasn't given a choice, as some people inaccurately believe. Yep. It's the same as having blonde hair or blue eyes or being left-handed, all of which apply to me, or at least I used to have blonde hair before my hair turned loose 20 plus years ago and raced to the back of my skull.

Amanda

Turned loose is a funny sign.

Josh

Even my current Viking-like beard has turned from blonde to stark white, which is why my students have called me Santa or Gandalf or Dumbledore for the past several years. I guess that makes me a quintuple threat because I didn't choose any of those physical characteristics yet, and it ended up having all five. Yay me.

Amanda

And they are what makes you you, and we love you.

Josh

He says, Amanda, I still say gift certificate also.

Amanda

Thank you.

Josh

It's almost like the two spaces after a period when typing, it's hard to let go. I credit my 10th grade typing teacher, Mrs. Warner, who is also my kindergarten teacher. Oddly enough, she's also my high school English teacher.

Amanda

You had Mrs. Warner as well.

Josh

That lady got around, boy. I miss the double spaces uh after periods.

Amanda

Do you miss them? I it took me a while to get used to it. I don't do it anymore, though.

Josh

Right, because you write for a living and you have to.

Amanda

I know, but like my first year of of writing all the time, all day long, it's it took me a while to correct that.

Josh

We talked last week about, or not last week, last episode about how the camp

Listener Mail From Neighbor Kate

Josh

I went to uh had sock wars.

Amanda

Oh, and I asked Jeff if he tried to kill people too.

Josh

Where the the the campers would fill up socks with dirt and then just hit each and you know, uh with dodgeball, you're not allowed to hit the head, and that's a rule. They didn't have any such rules with socks.

Amanda

God, you all are walking around with concussions. Yes, well, that also explains how you probably have traumatic brain injury, differently wired.

Josh

Okay, let's go. He says also, Amanda, concerning the murder camp with medieval weaponry available to our campers, sock wars were always held on Saturdays, counselor's day off.

Amanda

Okay, so that therefore you have plausible deniability. Got it.

Josh

He says, I learned very early that after spending a week in the woods for nine successive weeks, time away in civilization on a day off was an opportunity to reclaim my sanity and cultivate my aesthetic of refining my life by shopping for pottery. Love it, books, handmade local crafts, and good meals, all of which um are featured in Asheville. He says, Let me ask you, would you rather watch campers getting pummeled with tube socks filled with dirt or enjoy the day in peace and quiet and sophisticated than grace?

Amanda

No, no. I will absolutely be uh on tunnel road with you in Asheville getting away from all of the nonsense.

Josh

He says, now that all changed in later years when I became one of the five age group directors. Yes, he became a leader. So he went from middle management to management. He says, since my counselors were off on Saturdays, I had to stay, but tried to impart on the junior counselors that remained along with the campers the precepts of working together to make refined gay Jeff's life more comfortable.

Amanda

So they were in charge of the murder games. Got it.

Josh

He says, Josh talking about radio stations while growing up, which I did, and I've said before that listening to talk radio um while I was growing up is what caused me to want to do whatever the fuck this is. So there you go. He says, I can only think of one right now, but there were several. The one that all my friends listened to in high school was WBBQ out of Augusta, Georgia.

Amanda

I love it so much, and it's so southern.

Josh

He says, best of my knowledge, there were no barbecue references, but it was a pretty cool station.

SPEAKER_06

That's funny.

Josh

He continues, Amanda, that is kind of freaking incredible that you were in a random Bucky's out of state and found out that three people in line at the register all went to the same high school, your high school.

Amanda

Yes. It was the bathroom line, though. So we had a little more time to discuss, but yes.

Josh

You know, and again, when stuff like that happens, like you're standing in a line, and then there's three other people who went to your high school at different times. I found out that like I have a sister, right? Like it makes me think that we're living in just this really elaborate simulation. Yeah. And sometimes some of the the actors in the simulation are shifted around and they play dual roles. Let's see, that's what happened.

Amanda

The universe is doing things.

Josh

I'm not comfortable with being, you know, manipulated. I would like everything to be just a little bit more random. Thank you very much. He says, I don't currently share Winthrop's underwear manifesto as far as pattern goes. Underwear print, however, means something totally different in the gay world. Ooh, we're about to learn something. Maybe I do share his manifesto when it comes to fabric and style. I only wear boxers, not boxer briefs or briefs. But boxers and those boxers must have some kind of knit or cotton. I prefer solid colors and the color does not matter. I typically what are we doing right now? I typically buy the extra large size Hanes or Fruit of the Loom at Target.

Amanda

Okay, thank you.

Josh

I will tell you now that many of my homosexuals have a fetish when it comes to underwear. One of my exes, Israel, we're calling out Israel right now, absolutely had to buy a hot new pair each week when we went out, which usually meant that I bought them for him. He legitimately looked like Ricky Martin, and now would be a good time to circle back to that underwear print comment I made a few cents ago. There you go. He says he joined the 21st century last week by buying his very first pair of earbuds. How is that possible? Jeff, how have you done what have you what do you listen now? Like what have you been doing?

Amanda

The wired things. Oh, maybe no, not earbuds. No, he's just out there in the wild listening to his music free range.

Josh

I don't love that.

Amanda

I don't know that that's true. It's just what I I've I've uh assigned to him.

Josh

I I don't think that's the case. I think he's way too polite to have his phone speaker be loud in public. Because that, like I said, that absolutely does matter. We were in a restaurant yesterday.

Amanda

I can't. I don't want to relive it.

Josh

There were people sitting so behind us, yeah. It was me and Amanda, and then the next booth over. And I swear it was not a quiet room, but you could hear everything that that they were saying.

Amanda

I know so many personal details about this woman's life.

Josh

I when we're when we go out, I take great pains to make sure that people don't hear what we have to say. Which is weirdly ironic that we have this podcast, and yet that's a value of mine. I don't understand people who don't mind the volume of their voice while they're out. I don't get it.

Amanda

Are they just not aware? I mean, it is gotta be it was so loud, and it was it was absolutely doing my head in. And you checked out and started writing a poem. Winthrop's reading a book, you're writing a poem on your phone, and I am stuck listening to I know way too many details about this woman's life. Like I could write a novel and she could be the main character. Was she up a Sletterover?

Josh

No.

Amanda

Okay, keep going.

Josh

He chastises me for he says, Never refer to your grandmother as a bike ever again. I just had to spritz down my computer area with cleaning spray because the sound waves coming through the speakers just violated my desktop area with that comment. That's a nine and I don't know what's going on with me. I got problems, what can I say? He says, Have you guys been watching any of the World Cup? Well, question asked and answered, yes. I absolutely love, love, love the effect that Scotland and Norway have had on our American outlook and enjoyment of life. Watching Europeans that have never been to the States before make such heartfelt, genuine, positive comments about our people and the natural beauty of the land, that's really what we need. In the World Cup's own little way, it's helping to heal the world. Boston and Scotland are now forever joined in love and brotherhood. Europe and everyone else, I think, has learned not to listen to their media as well. It's like we are finally taking one of Anne Frank's well-known quotes to heart. I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.

Amanda

I totally agree with that. And there was something that I saw the other day, and I went, I sent it to Muffy, so I was trying to find it. The World Cup is making everyone realize that our beef is with our world leaders, not with each other. And I really loved that. As well as I saw one that said the World Cup is just like we're all a bunch of cousins having a sleepover where the like adults don't get along, but the rest of us are just really enjoying the sleepover that we're having.

Josh

That description is apt until you realize that kids can't do anything about it.

Amanda

I know. Can you like let's just know we're gonna be hopeful for a second? Jeff, I have loved everything about Scotland in Boston. Like it's just, and my niece is a travel nurse from the Charleston area, and she is now on assignment in Boston, and she just was sending videos and pictures and just like how charming and lovely this has been. And I was worried about them when they went to Miami because Florida is a whole we we survive Florida. We don't live here, we survive it. It is a whole different ball game. But I mean, there were women out on this, like out there with the crowds, like passing out Cafecito, and so there were, you know, the Scots having Cuban coffee for the first time, and like they abrace embraced that um Miami culture as well. And I just I love it so, so very much. Um, and then I saw that as they were going home, so you know this whole thing with the um traffic cones on their heads. Have you seen this whole thing? No, what are you talking about? I don't know how it started. I don't know if it's a thing they do in Scotland, so it was probably Jeff knows, but they went around Boston and took traffic cones and put them on all the sculptures, right? Like I guess it's a Scottish thing with the traffic cones. And so TSA as a tribute to Scotland

when they were flying home because they're not, you know, they're not moving on to the next round of the World Cup, is they they had traffic cones on the TSA dogs at the airport, and I thought it was so sweet and lovely. And I I had to wonder, was that Miami International? Were they like getting their stuff together to do this? Or was that Boston when they were flying to Miami? It was probably Boston.

Josh

Well, I mean, there's plenty of dogs in you know, Miami International to put cones on. I mean, there were a lot of there's plenty of cones as well in Miami, aforementioned construction.

Amanda

Yeah.

Josh

Jeff um wraps it up by saying, Amanda, I did look up the word snug and learn something. According to the Google, it can be used as a noun in the UK and Ireland, pub culture specifically. It's a small, private, and secluded alcove or seating area in a traditional pub designed for small groups.

Amanda

Yeah, and and sometimes they have doors. And so that's why we got this pub sign at the um antique mall. And at the bottom it says snugs for women only no couples. Yeah. So yep, love it. Thanks, Jeff. I'm glad you learned something this week.

Josh

Thank you, Jeff. Folks, if you want to email us, familiarwilsons at gmail.com gets us. All right, Amanda, that's all there is. There is no more. What'd you think about all that?

Amanda

I enjoyed all of that, and I love all the people who have reached out to us to talk to us. If you want to continue this, we're all just a bunch of cousins at a sleepover. Um, even though our adults don't get along, please reach out um and and chat with us. That's what this is about. Connection.

Josh

I prefer not to think of you, my wife, as a cousin.

Amanda

No, no, no, no. I was talking to the people on the other end of this podcast.

Josh

Okay, thank you. All right. Uh, we want to thank all of our cousins out there without whom we would not be able to do this. We want to thank Antonio and Matt, Joss Garr, Daniel J.
