You ever just shut the f*ck up and let somebody else talk? Like completely?
It's so ironic that each generation is convinced that it is smarter and more capable of eutopia than the previous generation. How close do we seem to that truth?

The ego is the enemy. Our own belief in ourselves can be delusional and keep us disconnected from reality and obtaining the necessary information to maximize our potential.

Wuddup tho, this is Shut Up Simon.

I am your host Simon U.

That’s U as in,

“U don’t know a got damn thing”

And to that I say,

I know.

& neither do you, & once we all can agree on that,

we might be aight.

Today on Shut Up Simon,

We are talking EGO.

EGO, E-G-O

Everybody Gets One.

DAMN THAT BOY NICE with the Acronym

But here at Shut Up Simon, because we celebrating our ancestors in dis bitch,

We don’t call em Acronyms, we call them Blackronyms, or maybe Afronyms?

Please somebody come get this man a marshmallow, cuz he is on fire!!!!HAHAHA

Lol man, I’m playin. In all seriousness though, on todays episode we are addressing EGO, and our relationships w/ it.

Cuz I personally think we have this very dense idea of what it is, and because of this limited view, we have put ourselves in this delusion of our own self Importance and the impact we have on the world around us, or even just the small groups we are apart of.

But first, some quick UPDATES!!!

  • If you have yet to attend of our weekly Friday shows,
    • Sucks to suck, cuz we are taking a couple weeks off in November just to restructure since the weather is changing and we are having to move things inside.
  • It is the eve of what may be one of the most hype elections we all have ever lived through.
    • To my people out there trippin, bruh chill out.

I know it seems like we’re fucked either way, but that’s what moos want you to think.

  • Technically they aren’t wrong, but we can make the best of this situation.
    • Let’s come together, right now, over me. (Make beetles sound)

  • No seriously, I truly believe the community, whichever one you’re apart of will take care of itself.
    • & if not, then congratulations dumbs, you’ve picked the wrong community.
    • & hopefully we will take this as an opportunity to take a self inventory.
    • What behaviors have we exhibited that may have contributed to our situation?

A. I don’t mean to be a victim blamer, but shit, sometimes we just need to accept the consequences of our own ego.

Boom, prolly not the best transition, but…

Here we are.

(SHUT UP SIMON)

EGO. THE MUTHA FUCKIN EGO.

The killer of all that is great.

So boom.

Our idea of ego is confused with arrogance.

We think someone who is egotistical, is some someone, who is full of themselves, and their own delusional sense of their own importance and contributions.

A person with a big ego we would say is, big-headed, self-absorbed, full of themselves.

All of this shit is right.

But it does not encompass the ego in its entirety.

in this book I’m fuckin w/ called, “Ego is the Enemy” the author, Ryan Holiday said

“Whatever you are, whatever you’re doing, your biggest enemy lives inside of you. Your Ego.

Getting our way over anything or anyone else, the need to be better than, more than, recognized for just the slightest effort, just to feel part of something. Ego is the enemy of what you want, and what you have.”

& I know a lot of us aren’t egomaniacs. & this is a lot of the reason why it is so hard for us to come to terms with our own delusion cuz we walking around this hoe, shitting on our homies like we Kanye, and storming out of our bosses office like we Steve Jobs or somebody.

We see our EGO reflected in more subtle but just as destructive way.

What you talking about Simon?

1. We not listening

2. not only are we not listening, but we are just talking way too much.

Too damn much.

& with all this talking, we ain’t doing shit.

& the first thing yo ego is going to say to this, if you’re listening at home is, “Speak for your god damn self Simon. I’m doing what I need to do. If so, cool.”

To whoever us listening,

There is nothing to learn if we all agree on everything.

A wise man once said, the man who knows everything, knows that he knows nothing. (Huh?)

The great philosopher Socrates once said, “I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing. That I know nothing.”

Our ego’s have convinced us that because we have the internet, than we are an all knowing group of people.

All niggas do now in most conversations is argue back in forth, or agree on everything.

Niggas either for what you sayin, or against it.

How bout just being open to the information. Instead of feeling like you need to have something to respond in that very moment, when you probably don’t know enough information to make a thorough statement,

Our ego will not allow us to look like the less knowledgable one in the exchange.

So we say something to prove nothing.

I’ve done it, ya’ll do it.

I ain’t saying stop, I’m just saying be aware of this….then stop.

Just listen to the information without forming any opinion on it immediately.

Shit what’s the saying, you let somebody talk enough, you’ll find out everything.

We won’t shut the fuck up long enough to hear shit.

Ego ya’ll. Watch that shit.

There is nothing to learn if we all agree on everything either, but when we want to feel good about our own views, we surround ourselves with a community that will reinforce these ideologies no matter what they are.

Even the communities we are choosing are just a group of people stroking each others egos.

We are here, on this earth to learn from this world, mutually exchange experiences and insight, and as a conciseness, move on into the next phase of our existence.

We can’t getting caught up on who the info is coming from, who it isn’t coming from, how it’s making me feel.

Bruh we are on a mission out here & you trippin over what color your suit is.

Nigga you are on a mission

The other thing our ego is normalizing is this notion that words matter.

& as a podcast host, using words to express my own voice, I’ll say that words matter yeah.

A little bit, but ladies and gentlemen, give me a fucking break, words aren’t the end of the world.

We’ve lost the need for any action to back up these word.

This is digital space seeping into the real world.

I’m always talking about this,

We are moving into a dangerous merge or the physical and digital worlds, and the physical one is mattering less and less.

All you do is talk on the internet. Share thoughts. That’s it.

Fill boxes with texts.

Even when creating something visual.

You’re communicating through typed characters.

There is nothing actually being done here.

& this is what we are coming to accept.

No wonder Donald trump is president.

All the nigga do is talk, say stupid shit that his people love.

He doesn’t have to do any of the shit.

Just think about it, the person who says the most provocative shit is the one we give all of our attention, so much so that people use this as a tactic to get eyes on them when they have something coming out Kanye West, Donald mutha fuckin Trump.

No wonder Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian are the most famous people in the world, and again, they don’t do shit.

Ye’ does a little more than Kim.

& then when they actually do something, like get niggas out of jail, they feel like they deserve a fucking Nobel peace prize.

You do a little and you get a lot.

That’s the way of the new world.

& the funny thing is, the shit is still just an illusion.

We believe we are entitled to everything we want as long we try for it.

Maybe our current situation is one we deserve.

If your work is fire, then very few words are necessary

Anything worth some shit is going to be hard, talking is easy.

Just think about it, the person who says the most provocative shit is the one we give all of our attention, so much so that people use this as a tactic to get eyes on them when they have something coming out Kanye West.

We are obsessed with this idea of “Being Somebody.”

We even say it as a mantra to ourselves and others.

I am somebody, be somebody is what we say.

Be somebody.

Bruh you can literally be whatever you say you are these days.

You don’t have to do shit.

“Fake it til you make it.” That’s where that shit came from.

Ever think about what that is saying?

Believe your own bullshit, and one day that bullshit may actually turn into something?

That is the fantasy, That is the lie.

The bullshit is becoming obnoxious.

Fake it til you make it. How long you think that saying has been in rotation.

We’re fucked

It’s funny, with technology advancing, conveniences are increasing, every generation is weaker, and some could argue dumber, than the one before.

What’s even funnier, is our ego  and idea of self worth grows greater and more delusional every generation.

Maybe we deserve everything we’re getting.

Let’s change what we want, & really want it, or just shut the fuck up and enjoy our shitty ways

The delusion of self identifying.

Because I say I am, I am.

No tf I am not.

We can literally say whatever the fuck we want to ourselves.  We can tell ourselves everyday how brilliant and worthy we are.

I say I am comedian. Sure I am a comedian.

But what have I done.

Am I doing comedy?

Am I hitting open mics, writing jokes every day,

Developing my set, networking with other comedians,

Or am I just telling everybody I am a stand-up comedian?

Idgaf man, actions will always speak louder than words.

So lets stop reacting to words like that are speaking just as loud as people’s actions.

To be somebody, or to actually do something.

Impressing People ain't the same as being impressive.

Don’t believe your own hype.

Put in the work, and don’t expect anything.

Yes, put it out in the universe the things you want, but don’t let it that be what you’re chasing.

Don’t let your wants be driven by notoriety or fucking acclaim or credit for shit.

Be satisfied knowing you put in that work, and can’t nobody take that shit from you.

The opportunities to shine will present themselves, & you’ll be ready.

We believe we are entitled to everything we want as long we try for it.

Some people do everything they can & end up with nothing.

Some people don’t do shit, and end up with everything.

Be defined by the work you’ve done, the relationships you’ve built, the people you’ve served.

alk less. Do more.

Aye all of this is coming from a nigga who is literally talking his shit as a means of communication lol— how ironic.

That might be why I called the show Shut Up Simon, As a reminder to myself, nigga shut yo ass up & do something.
