Olga of Kiev, also known as Saint Olga, was a ruler of Kievan Rus' who lived in the 10th century. She was born in Pskov, Russia, around 890, and was married to the Prince of Kiev, Igor I. When her husband was killed by a neighboring tribe (Buckle up for that part), Olga took over as regent for their son, Svyatoslav. She became known for her intelligence, courage, and determination, and she successfully defended her kingdom against several invasions.

Olga is perhaps best known for her conversion to Christianity. She was baptized in Constantinople in 957, becoming the first ruler of Kievan Rus' to embrace the new faith. She subsequently attempted to convert her subjects, although she faced significant resistance. Olga died in 969, and was later canonized by the Orthodox Church. She is considered a patron saint of widows and converts
