All Good in the Sisterhood
Lucy Mein - Gymnastics Coaching Culture and Abuse
In this week's episode of All Good in The Sisterhood we are joined by Lucy Mein.
Lucy has bravely agreed to talk to me about her experience of abuse in gymnastics coaching, something that has come to light in a big way this year. You may have seen the Netflix documentary Athlete A, which describes the abuse that happened within USA Gymnastics. Following this, more gymnasts in Britain came forward with their experiences of emotional and physical abuse.
I followed this topic very closely as more stories came out and saw Lucy had shared her experience on social media. I wanted to give her the chance to tell her story in this safe space and I am so grateful to her for opening up and explaining the long term implications of this abuse.
Gymnastics will forever be one of the best things I have ever been a part of and I can't begin to explain my love and passion for the sport. This episode (and the whole podcast for that matter) is a chance to listen to someone's personal experience and really learn from them. I know I learnt a lot from Lucy and would urge you to take the time to listen to this one.
