Ovarian cancer is a scary diagnosis and thank goodness it is not that common. It is scary because usually by the time we make the diagnosis, the disease is already advanced. It is the second most common gynecologic malignancy in the United States and it is the most common cause of gynecologic death in the US. Ovarian cancer can sneak up on you. Symptoms are non-specific but they can include: abdominal pain or distention, nausea, early satiety, shortness of breath or dysfunctional bleeding.
