Hey everyone. Welcome to PT Snacks podcast. This is Kasey your host, and if you're tuning in for the very first time, first of all, welcome. But what you need to know is that this podcast is for physical therapists and physical therapist students who are looking to grow your fundamentals in bitesize segments of time. Now, if it really is your first time, just know that this is a little bit of a different episode than usual. Because this is gearing towards the end of the year and I'm about to take a couple weeks break, so this will be the last episode of the year. But I'm gonna have a link in the show notes where you can sign up for basically a 90 day challenge. But here's the why behind this, because if you are very goal oriented, achievement oriented, you've got a to-do list that you love checking off. I think it's really easy as humans for us to either check off things that we know we can easily do, or we make so many goals, maybe because we feel like they're good goals, but they're not always goals that are specific to us, what we value, what our principles are. I know when I was a young resident. A lot of the goals I made were because people around me were making the same goals, and the reality was they were good goals, but they didn't really align with things that I was interested in, that I wanted to pursue, or even really my natural strengths. And so I just felt like I was chugging along, but didn't really feel like I was pursuing something that excited me. Not everything will excite us, but something that made sense for me, and for some of you, you may not know what makes sense for you. So sometimes you do have to try a few things and see what sticks. And I do all sorts of stuff. I have a continuing education company called Ignite Clinical Institute. I still work in the clinic, but I really enjoy teaching and educating others, but more importantly than. Helping the physical therapist in front of me, the most important thing is the person in front of me. And so I think a lot of times we hear about burnout in healthcare fields, and this is not an episode about burnout, but I do wanna speak to the fact that there are gonna be times in your career where maybe your career is not your main priority, and that's okay. There are many facets in our life. Family. We may have financial goals or limitations. Maybe we have goals centered around our spirituality, whatever that is for you. For me personally, I am a Christian and that has a big part in who I am in my life. But with that, personally, the more that we can really lean into the type of person we want to be what we're feel like our strengths are and what we wanna accomplish. I think when we align all of that, it can be really magical rather than just chasing somebody else's goals. So all that to say, this challenge is split into 90 days because. A year's goals. They're hard. And I don't know about you, but I used to make long-term goals in the past, and sometimes I realized when I looked back, the timing wasn't right. For some of these goals. Maybe it just wasn't actually as meaningful to me as I realized. So being able to do that in 90 day spurts can be helpful to make sure that you're actually going the direction that you wanna go. Rather than just throwing darts, you should have a target, right? And what we value and what's important to us should guide that target. But you need to be realistic with yourself in life on what you can do and what's happening during that time of life. Did you just have a kid? That might not be the time. You feel like an all star in your career and that's okay, but you're being an awesome parent, right? So this challenge, basically you'll download a sheet and you are going to. List your values essentially, and what you wanna focus on the most. And I need you to be very real with yourself and create an action plan towards the aspects of your life you most wanna focus on for that period of 90 days. And create something that you can keep up with while imagining your busiest week possible. Because if you can do that, then you can do it every week. Don't write it in mind the ideal week where you're not doing a lot. Write it as if every week is your busiest week. And then reflect on that. What's working for you? What's actually meaningful to you? Are you going the direction that you wanna go? So that's all this is. I know this isn't a normal PT Snacks podcast episode, but again, the heart behind this is to help people grow and whatever that looks like. In sci segments of time, right? We are talking about real life, where we are trying to make small changes that move the needle. Slow amounts of time. So if you're interested, check out the show link below. And if not, that's fine. Do whatever you normally do and we'll pick it back up in January for PT snacks. But I am so thankful for you guys for being here, especially if you listen to this episode for this long. I have so enjoyed this and getting to hear from you guys about how this has impacted your day and you make such a difference in mine. Med Bridge is actually offering listeners over a hundred dollars off, so definitely check out the show notes below. Again, that's all I'm gonna go into today, but I hope you guys have a fantastic holiday season, and I will see you guys in 2026.
