Thyme
God, are ya' there?

God
I'm right here.  As always.

Thyme
I wish I could see ya'.

God
Why?

Thyme
Cuz then I'd really know you're here.

God
You mean right now you don't?

Thyme
Don't what?

God
Don't know I'm here.

Thyme
Well, you know, if I could see ya' with my own eyes …

God
All right. Close your eyes, Thyme.

Thyme
Why?

God
That way you'll be able to see me better.

Thyme
Why zat?

God
Well, just try it and find out.

Thyme
OK, my eyes are closed.

God
I know.

Thyme
How do ya' know? I could be peekin'.

God
But you're not.

Thyme
How do ya' know?

God
Because I can see you.

Thyme
You can? Hey, how comes you can see me, but I can't see you?

God
Maybe you need to be blind.

Thyme
What? That don't make no sense.

God
Blind people see me all the time.

Thyme
They do?

God
Yup.

Thyme
Now just how do they do that?

God
Because the world doesn't get in the way.

(long pause as she considers)

Thyme
Uh huh. Tha's deep.

God
Yeah. That's deep. They see more deeply. They go deep.

Thyme
Yeah, tha's deep.

God
Now keep your eyes shut.

Thyme
OK.

God
Can you see me now?

Thyme
Not yet.

God
Do you know what I look like?

Thyme
No, I don't.  I don't got a clue.

God
Well, what would you like me to look like?

Thyme
I donno. I ain't thought about it.

God
If ya' ain't thought about it, why is it so important now?

Thyme
I donno, it jus' came up.

God
What if I told you I looked like the air around you? Could you see me then?

Thyme
Don't be silly. Ya' can't see air.

God
But you know it's all around you, right?

Thyme
Yeah, well I breathe it.

God
So, take a deep breath.

Thyme
OK, here goes. (She does.)

God
OK, can you see me now?

Thyme
Nope.

God
But am I still here?

Thyme
Well, yeah. You're talkin ta' me.

God
So you know I'm here.

Thyme
Yup.

God
Can ya' see the air yet?

Thyme
No, ‘course I can't see the air. But I can feel it.

God
Uh huh. Do you worry about the air being there?

Thyme
Never think about it. It just is.

God
Uh huh.
(Long pause)

Thyme
Somethin' tells me I jus' answered ma' own question.

God
Uh huh.

Thyme
Hmm. Look at the way the sunlight falls on them cornflowers, God. Gonna be a beautiful day.

God
Uh huh.
