Thyme
Hey God! Are ya’ there? I got ma’ report fer ya’!
God
Sorry, Thyme. Runnin’ a bit late this mornin’.
Thyme
Oh that’s all right. I knows yer a busy … uh … God. I was jus’ a settin’ here smellin’ the flowers an talkin’ ta’ the birds.
God
And just what report do you have for me this fine mornin’?
Thyme
Well, you know, on the affairs dahmor project concernin’ Thyme Quinn an’ the revered Reverend Josiah Washburn.
God
Oh yes, that one.
Thyme
OK, so after church yesterday, as we was all exitin’ out the front door, there stood Reverend Washburn, as usual, sayin’ his goodbyes an’ shakin hands an’ kissin’ babies. When it came Mama’s an’ my turn ta’ bid farewell, he did his usual lookin’ me over while shakin’ ma’ hand an’ holdin’ it a little longer than all the others. When he was done, I then commenced ta’ lookin’ him over from foot ta’ head … an’ took ma’ time doin’ it too.
God
And what was his reaction to that?
Thyme
Well certainly not at all what I expected! He got all red in the face and went into that little stutterin’ thing that he sometimes does, but big time, and turned an’ nearly ran back into the church leavin’ me standin’ there wonderin’ what I did wrong.
God
You did nothin’ wrong, Thyme.
Thyme
Well, didn’t seem like that. Nothin’ came of it!
God
Not true.
Thyme
Oh yeah? How do you know.
God
Why is it that I must repeat myself on the answer to that question nearly every time we talk, Thyme?
Thyme
Oh yeah, I’m sorry, I ferget. Omniscient. You know it all.
God
Thank you.
Thyme
So what was the somethin’ that came of it?
God
You didn’t see him standin’ in the door watchin’ you an’ Mama walk all the way to your car, get in, an’ drive off?
Thyme
He did?
God
He did.
Thyme
Why’d he do that?
God
Why do you think?
Thyme
Well, I don’t have the slightest idea. Why didn’t he jus’ run after us an invite us to lunch er somethin’?
God
Perhaps he’s a bit shy. Didja ever think of that?
Thyme
Shy?! He don’t seem so shy when he’s up there preachin’ his fire an’ brimstone.
God
Well, he’s just a man of many flavors, Thyme.
Thyme
Phew! This affairs dahmor stuff ain’t ‘zactly easy.
God
You’re right about that.
Thyme
Oh well then, would ya’ say that we’s now officially courtin’?
God
Thyme, that’s for you to decide.
Thyme
Well whadiya think he thinks?
God
Thyme, he’s been courtin’ you for some time now.
Thyme
He has?
God
He has.
Thyme
Seems like I’m the last ta’ know.
God
Well, at least now you do.
Thyme
Guess I better do somethin’ about it now, huh?
God
Probably a good idea … to make it official.
Thyme
Lordy me. Guess I’m a little slow getting’ the hang a’ this stuff.
God
That’s all right. You’re doing just fine, Thyme. Just fine.
Thyme
Thank ya’, God. See ya’ tomorrow. (sigh) Lordy me …
