Good morning, Thyme.

Thyme

Why God, this is the first time you ever started the conversation. I’m jus’ comin’ into the meadow now.

God

I was waiting for you.

Thyme

Oh, I’m so sorry. I’m runnin’ a bit late this mornin’. I had ta’ wash up Mama an’ she was bein’ a mite persnickedee.

God

I know.

Thyme

I hafta say I’m most flattered that YOU waited fer ME.

God

Why flattered?

Thyme

Well, you know. Youse a big shot! An’ I’m jus … jus … well …

God

… a little shot?

Thyme

Well … yeah.

God

Well, I’ve been called many things, but, a big shot?

Thyme

Oh, I’m sorry. I’m jus’ a bit discombobulated this mornin’.

God

Well, then you’ve come to the right place.  What’s on your mind this morning?

Thyme

(deep sigh)

Afghanistan.

God

Afghanistan?

Thyme

Yeah, Afghanistan.

God

What about Afghanistan?

Thyme

Well, ya’ got a minute?

God

I got all the time in the world.

Thyme

When’er ya’ gonna fix Afghanistan?

God

Oh, that.

Thyme

Yeah, that.

God

How come Afghanistan an’ not Ukraine?

Thyme

Well. that needs fixin too, but let’s not forget ‘bout Afghanistan. We both know it needs fixin’ an’ we both know things is a mess over there, so why ain’t they getting’ fixed?

God

It’s complicated.

Thyme

You mean it’s too complicated fer the likes a’ you?”

God

No. But’s it’s gonna take some time. There’s a lotta people that need a change of heart.

Thyme

But can’t you just fly in there and start changin’ some hearts?

God

The process has begun. Be patient.

Thyme

Well, I guess I ain’t so patient cuz travesties are bein’ made an’ people are dyin’. 

God

Sometimes it takes that to change the heart.

Thyme

There must be a better way.

God

I agree. Got some ideas?

Thyme

That’s your job, not mine.

God

Who told you that?

Thyme

Well, the Bible says, “Do unto others as …”

God

Yeah I know that one.

Thyme

So?

God

So, if you believe that, start doin’.

Thyme

What do I have to do with Afghanistan? or even Ukraine fer that matter?

God

Everything.

Thyme

Oh boy!  Here come the one-word answers …

God

That’s why they’re called the “word” of God and not the “words” of God.

Thyme

So, one word is enough?

God

Ya’ got that right.

Thyme

An’ what word might that be?

God

Try “Love”.

Thyme

You mean I hafta love the Afghanistaners an’ the Taliban?

God

That’s close.

Thyme

I don’t follow.

God

You simply have to love more.  Love all people more.

Thyme

That’s gonna help way over in Afghanistan?

God

Yup. You an’ the rest of the world doin’ it

Thyme

If we all love more, that’s gonna heal Afghanistan?

God

Better believe it.

Thyme

Well, OK.  If you say so …

God

I say so.

Thyme

Love more. Hmm … I guess that ain’t so hard …

God

No, it’s not so hard to love more. Just imagine if everybody in the world loved just 5% more.

Thyme

That would change the world?

God

You bet.

Thyme

That’s a lotta love. I may even do 10% more!

God

Start now. Don’t wait another moment.

Thyme

Well, OK, I’m jus’ gonna do that.

God

Thyme

This is gonna be fun!
