Anthony Hartcher:

Have you ever set Year's Resolution goals and not achieved them? I think we can all put our hands up for that one, I have certainly set new year's resolution goals and haven't made any progress towards them or may have started, but then stopped. And what I'm going to share with you on this insightful episode of me&my health up is how to set goals for success in 2024. And what's happening around health in 2024. So this is a, I guess, part two of two part episode, the first part was finding your purpose. So finding what's most priority to you, what's the highest priority to you, to helping you find that, because then you can set meaningful goals. And this episode is now helping you to then establish goals that you can then track measure and actually achieve in 2024, as well as what you can do and what you should be looking for in terms of what is I guess, where the health trends are going in? 2024? So what is it that might come onto your radar as a result of this show? And that's what I'm going to share with you that I guess the where I see health going in 2024 and certainly beyond. So let's get started with you've landed on the me&my health up podcast, and I'm your host, Anthony Hartcher, a clinical nutritionist and lifestyle medicine specialist. The purpose of this podcast is to enhance and enlighten your well being. And I'm doing that just for you for today on this topic of around achieving success in 2024. And where are the health trends, and what should you be looking out for in 2024. So let's get started with setting those goals up for success in 2024. So it'd be great if you could listen to the prior episode, which is around finding your purpose and establishing what's highest priority for you. And that is then helping us set meaningful goals because you want to set goals in areas that are truly meaningful to you because that's your why, that is you connecting with your why. And then you can sort out the how and that's around achieving that goal. Once you know the Why the Why is got to be strong in order for you to then find the how. So with a strong Why, we can find that how. So now that you know your why you know your priorities from the previous episode. So tune into last week's episode on finding your purpose. And listen to that before you listen to this episode. So setting goals is around extracting what's most important to you. And then setting a goal that is really going to stretch you in that area in that particular area that you want to further grow and develop. So as I shared in the previous episode, I set goals around my health, my personal health, what do I want to accomplish? What's going to stretch me around my health goals? And I set goals for how can I reach more ears and listeners and viewers. So that's one of my goals is how to extend my reach. And one way is obviously providing insightful content, but also providing quality content. And then also letting people know it's out there because there's so much content out there that you can be lost amongst all all the publishers and there's so it's really hard to stand out. So certainly that's one of my challenges is how do I stand out? So what's helpful for me is if you share this podcast, if you find it a value to others, please share it with others that might be a bit lost and might be looking to set some solid direction. So that meaningful goal, like for me around health. So how can I improve my health? And where do I want to take it? So it really starts with understanding that area that's high priority for you. And I just mentioned that health is for me, then visualising as to what success looks for you looks like for you in that area. So what do you visualise? So for one of my goals around martial arts, I visualised myself as a master of karate. So mastering karate is what I'm seeking to do. And every lesson I go to, I'm seeking to improve how can I improve incrementally those little one percenters every every lesson I have or every training session? I do, how can I improve those one percenters? Because ultimately, I want to become a master of it. I want to be in that sense of, yes, I can do it to a high level and a high degree I mean, there's always more you can do and improve on. But I want to get to a point where have a good competency in it or really develop competency in it right? And so that's one of my goals around health is looking for where do I want to be at the end of the year with my karate? What do I want to achieve? And so what do you want to achieve around your health? So is it around, for example, weight loss? So be specific as to why that weight loss is important to you? What does it mean, to have less body fat? What does that mean to you? And then connect with how will you feel how will you look and feel with that, and see if that image like you can get that image of you and what you can do, and how that helps you fulfill what else is important to you. So start developing more and more connections as to why that is really important to you. Often, we stop at that superficial level. And that superficial level is this comparison, or because they look amazing. And I look up to that person. And so we're doing it on a comparison point of view. And so it becomes like a desire, but it's not intrinsically within us to really want it, it just becomes a superficial desire. And the reason why that happens is because we get into comparison, and judgment. And what that does, when we get into comparison and judgment, it takes us into the limbic center of our brain, which is our survival center. So in our survival center, is where we seek prey and avoid predator. That's how we stay alive. That's how we survive, and that center is set up to keep us alive. And so what we want to do in order to strive and achieve meaningful goals is we need to get out of that desire center or the limbic center. Because whilst we're stuck there, we're going to be seeking these things that look that are very superficial based on comparison, because our, you know, I really respect and admire that person, they have this and I want that. And, and again, it's because you look up to them, you're comparing yourself to them, and what's most important to them, and so they may have physical looks as the highest priority. But for you, it might be a lower priority. And so what you're going to do, subconsciously, is sabotage yourself, because it's not important to you. So your body is always trying to bring you back into homeostasis, which is centered, and balanced, and is where you're authentic. And it's trying to get you to be authentic. So you'll be always beating yourself up in your head, and telling yourself why you can't do what that person does, or why you can't be like them. Because it's trying to get you to be authentic, because that's not you, you don't have the highest value as physical appearance, your highest value could be, you want to have a influence on society in the area that you love. And that could be this is where you want to be a leader. And this is where you want to stand out and shine. And that's a higher priority for you. So you'll always be intrinsically motivated to do that. And you'll require extrinsic motivation to do that physical change or that to achieve that goal around physical appearance, you'll someone will need to pay your whip your keep you accountable, because you will lack the drive from within you need extrinsic motivation to in order to achieve that goal. So when we set goals that are intrinsic to us that are aligned to our values that I shared in the previous episode, we will just wake up and do that we'll wake up and be inspired from within to fulfill that goal to meet that goal. Otherwise, we'll need extrinsic motivation to do it. And this is why people fail in their attempts to achieve their New Year's resolutions. Because it's a goal of someone else's that they look up to. And so, what you want to do in order to stop doing these goals by comparison, you want to look within what's truly important to you. And I talked about finding that in the previous episode. So go back to the previous episode to find that and if you've listened to the previous episode, and you're ready for what's next, then stick with priority and delegate everything else. And so when you stick by priority, that means you'll be staying on purpose with those meaningful goals through throughout the year. And you won't be distracted by other people's injected values onto you. They're there wanting to project values onto you, you'll say no, thank you. Because I know my mission, I know what I want to achieve in 2024, I'm going to stay on that path, I'll I can help you by getting someone else to do what you want me to do. Because it's not a high priority for me to high priority for you and helps you fulfill your goals, I can help you fulfill your goals by finding someone else that can do that for you. Because it's not me, I don't want to do it. And so that's how you want to go about achieving your goals and achieving success in 2024, is by sticking to what's most important to you, setting metrics in those areas that are most important to you. And then delegating everything else. So I delegate more and more, and I have been over a period of time. Because, for example. So Ken, Ken does my blog, what he does is turn these podcasts into blogs, I'm not a writer, I love speaking I love talking. So I have no trouble talking. But I need motivation, I need to be extremely motivated to write. And so what I realised that was a lower priority for me. So then I delegated that to Sir Ken, who is an amazing writer. So what he does, is grabbed the episode that I talked about, he does further research and then writes amazing blog. And it's so great to read. So if you don't like listening to my podcast, and you prefer to read, you can get a summary of the podcast episode, on my website through Ken's blog, it's fantastic. Or you can subscribe to it on my LinkedIn page. So if you go to me&my wellness on LinkedIn, you will see my newsletter, subscribe to that, and you'll get the weekly blog that's linked to this podcast. And Ken adds additional value to what I add because he does his own research. And he's a fantastic writer. But I was never going to write those blogs, because I don't like writing. I don't mind speaking. I like speaking it's fantastic. I enjoy speaking. But I don't like writing I really never have. And so I delegate that to Ken, who loves writing, and he's a great writer. And so he's inspired by writing about this podcast, and doing further research and adding more value into the blog post. He's inspired by that he loves doing that. And he does a way better job than what I could ever do. Because that is what is highly important to him. That's his superpower. My superpower comes around talking around this podcast. Well, I like to think it's a superpower. It's certainly an area that I'm seeking mastery in on. I'm constantly looking at how I can improve this podcast. So what you want to do is understand what's important to you your priorities, set goals in those areas of priority, and then delegate the things of lower priority to other people that value that, that really, that gives them inspiration that gives them enthusiasm. That's where they're seeking mastery. And that's how we work in harmony. That's how this work this, this is how the world really works well, is because the things that I don't like doing, there's other people out there that love doing it. For example, IT I'm not great at solving hard it problems. But there's people out there that love solving IT problems. And so I give them my IT problems to solve, they might have health problems, and they're not interested in trying to work out how to solve their own health problem. So they come to me because I'm an expert in solving health problems. So this is how we all work in harmony. And this is where I want you to stick to priority in 2024. Because you will feel inspired when you're living by what's most important to you. When you live by lower priorities, you do purpose, you drop your self esteem, you lower your self worth by doing lower priority items. So don't do lower priority items. Don't inject other people's values, even if they tell you that you should do it. If you look up to them, how you can create equanimity with them is look, what do I admire about that person? What is it specifically that I admire about that person? And then look within you where you demonstrate that, but it'll be in the areas that you value most. So when I admire, say ultra runners and their ability to build a huge successful business, so I admire their dedication to a cause and their hard work around that course. So where do I have dedication and hard work? Well, let's towards this podcast, isn't it? I dedicate a lot of time and hard work to making sure I'm doing a weekly podcast to make sure I'm improving the content to improve the quality each week. I'm always looking to do that and slowly, incrementally. I Have a tire. I've been doing this for three years now, it has been slowly and incrementally improve. So this is where I'm building success. They built success in an area that was truly inspired to them, they were living by what's most important to them. And so when we all live by what's most important to us, that's where we see our own success. That's where we find our own success. The reason why we don't feel successful is because we're comparing ourselves to other people's success. And they have completely unique hierarchy of values to you. And because we have these differences in hierarchy of values, it is futile to compare yourself to someone else and think, Ah, they're successful. I'm not, it's because you're discounting what's a value to you, and its value to this world. But what you want to do is acknowledge it, you're too humble to own it. So I know that this podcast is making some sort of difference. The reason why I know that is the feedback I get, and also the improvement on my own health and well being. And I'm thinking of people that just taking a couple of tips from each episode, and implementing it, then that would be improving their health and well being, because that's what I've been doing to this. You know, with the interviews I do, there's always something I learned from every interview. And I implement that, for example, I've got these blue light filtering glasses that came from a podcast episode, I've got next to me here, I've got an air filter that came through a podcast. At night, I wear mouth tape that came through interviewing a podcast guest, I'm also wearing a night mask. And I'm doing all these things around my sleep. And this, these all come from podcast episodes. I'm also improving my nutrition regularly, even though I'm a nutritionist, through the interviews I'm doing with experts in their area of expertise. So if you can just take one thing from each episode, you would be incrementally improving your health. So this is where I'm having an impact. And I'm not going to compare my impact to someone else's where they're having an impact, because it's going to be in an area that they value most. And it most likely isn't my highest value. If it is, then they've probably started 20 years ahead of me are you gonna wait like, it's a silly comparison to to make, I can get inspiration from them and thinking that's where potentially I could take my podcast. But I don't compare my numbers to Joe Rogan's numbers for example, or Andrew Hubert irons, numbers example. We're completely unique and different people. And we've had different values. And we've, we've had a different career path and, and my career path has served me to where I am today. And I acknowledge that. And I'm, I'm really content. And I'm grateful for everything along that journey that I've had of my journey of life. And I don't regret anything. And so I don't want to be them, I just want to be the best version of me. And so what I'm focused on is how can I be the best version of me. And that's where I want you to focus your time and energy in 2024 is not on comparison, but on how you can be the best version of yourself, and start to acknowledge what you see in others their success and look within you where you're having that level of success. And it will be in the area that you value most. So stick by priority, don't compare yourself to other people, because they have a different hierarchy of values. Yes, you can be inspired what can be possible in that field, if it's the same value. But again, you've had different journeys. And you want to acknowledge everything, and how it served you along your journey to getting you to where you are today. But your hierarchy of values will be completely different. So, for example, you know, mine and Andrew is human, even though we might have something in common in terms of sharing holistic health advice, you know, he focuses very much on the neuro side of things. That's an area that I'm delving more into, and I'm getting more inspired by that area and in mastering my understanding of that area. So I am sharing content in that area. But he has so much more experience in that area than me that I'm building my experience. And some people are coming along that journey with me. And I've probably resonated with them because they're probably at a level I understand or sharing in a way that Andrew Huberman they don't understand he's too you know, biochemistry like or is, is it's too high level. And so I could be sharing in a more simplistic level, and that's still adding value. So, again, we're both adding value, and we're resonating with different listeners or could be some crossover but I don't compare where he's at, and where I'm at, because we're completely unique and special, different human beings. And so, again, it's futile to compare yourself to someone else, because they have a unique hierarchy of values, you have a unique hierarchy of values, and it won't be exactly the same, there'll be some, there might be similar, but not exactly the same. And the importance may not be exactly the same. So example, for example, my father law has a really high value on family, and it's way higher than where I value. It's way higher than my value on family. It's, it's streaks ahead, right. And so, yes, he has a lot of success, because he focuses on that area. And that's what he loves doing. I have different level of success. But I'm content with that. Because it's, you know, I'm happy where it sits in my hierarchy of values, it's still at the, at the top of my hierarchy of values, it's just not to that next level, like my health is like that next level compared to where he values his health. And so but we're completely unique and different, we have some similarities, but the degree or the magnitude or the, the, you know, the quantity of that is different. And so there's no point of comparing yourself to someone else at all. Because the importance, the level of importance will be completely unique and different. So stick with what's most important to you live by those values, Delegate everything else, to other people that love doing those things. And then you'll find your life in more harmonious way, and you'll be feeling fulfilled. And you'll feel like you've achieved a lot every day as opposed to, I'm just too busy, I don't have enough time. Those people that saying they're too busy and don't have enough time, I spending too much time on lower priority things and not getting to the things that are high priority, hence, they don't have enough time, I stick with the things that are highest priority. And I never say at the end of the day, that I don't have enough time, because I'm sticking with what's most important to me, and every day is very fulfilling, I delegate things of lower priority. So start delegating the things that you don't like and that you don't value the lower priority delegated to others that love doing it. So some people that value their career above and beyond all up everything else. And family is probably a secondary or third value. They might delegate their, you know, their, I guess their daycare responsibilities to someone that loves doing spending time with children, they might not love spending that time with children, they want to Yes, raise a family, but they don't have value family as high as, say, my father in law. So my father in law would love to spend all day with his children. And that would be very fulfilling to him. But someone that's career driven, and wants to achieve big things in career success, that would be unfeeling and fulfilling to them. And again, then that they would seek extrinsic means to get their fulfillment, which would have detrimental outcomes on their well being. And so when they're doing what's most intrinsic, is really important to them. They don't seek extrinsic means such as drugs, alcohol, buying addictions or commercialism, they don't get sucked into these desires, because they're in their prefrontal cortex, they're in their executive function, that higher brain function where you're centered, you're authentic. You're enthused inspired. It's where we have love and gratitude. And so the more we're in that center, the more we govern our emotions of the desire center. And we're not driven to drinking alcohol, or drink or binge eating or anything to give us external fulfillment because we fulfill, feel unfulfilled within because we're not living by what's most important to us. We're living by other people's values, injected values, we're not truly acknowledging what's most important to us, and valuing what's most important to us and making that a priority. Do that in 2024, and you'll feel fulfilled, it will be an awesome year. So if one thing you want to take away from this episode, is that you're going to stick by priority and delegate slowly start delegating, that that process of delegating will actually enhance your return on investment, because you will by doing what's most important to you, that's where you'll be able to derive the most money. When you do things of lower priority that are unimportant to you. You don't do the job half as good as someone that values that. And so if you stick by what's most important to you, that's how you will maximize your self worth and you your net worth. And by delegating the other thing is they will do it better than you can do it. And they maximize their self worth and net worth. So start working with society with one another, and do what's most important to you, and allow others to do what's most important to them. And we have this respectful, harmonious relationship with us and them as opposed to judging them and thinking they should be more like us, or looking up to them and thinking we should be more like them. Don't do any of that. Acknowledge your superpowers, do what's most important to you delegate everything else. And if you are doing something that is driving income for you, that isn't currently something that's totally what you want to do, and you're working towards that thing in building that up, in the meantime, Link, what you're currently doing to how it's helping serve what's most important to you. And then you'll be able to do that, with that intrinsic drive, as opposed to, you know, thinking that you need some sort of extrinsic motivation. So, start living 2024 by priority, lift with purpose, you'll feel more fulfilled. And you'll think 2024 was an amazing year. And when you start delegating things slowly and start farming the moss, I've been slowly doing this ever since 2022. And it's gradually building up on more and more delegating these things that I don't have a high priority, or I'm not good at and the reason why I'm not good at them, because they're not a high priority. I started delegating that to experts such as sick Ken, who's an expert blog writer, and it frees me up to do more of this and into serve more clients that bring me the, I guess, the most amount of return I can get for my for where I'm at in terms of the value I'm adding, right, and he's getting the maximum return he can get because he's adding huge amount of value in that area. And what you'll find is that you'll have this nice gap between the two, that you will be maximizing your value, he's maximizing your value, and you're both growing and succeeding in the areas that you find most fulfilling. So stick with priority 2024, delegate the things of low priority slowly over time. And then you'll find yourself working on the things that you love to do that inspire you, that bring you the maximum amount of income that maximizes your self worth. And you'll be contributing more to society in doing that, you'll be the best version of yourself. So do that in 2024. And success will come your way, you won't be worrying about what others are doing, you'll just want to become the best version of yourself. So you'll resort to less comparison, less judgment, and more about how you can improve yourself that 1% more to add more value in this world that we live in. And how can you help others fulfill their values? How can you do what you love doing and help meet what, what they're most looking for. And that's what I'm doing, I'm looking to fulfill the needs of others that are looking to solve health problems. So if you know anyone with a health problem that is looking for someone to solve it, then recommend them to me, I'd love to be referred to them, please introduce them to me, I'd love to help them out. And again, if you've got anyone that loves doing the tasks that I don't like doing, then recommend them to me, and I'll embrace their services. And this is how we can live in this great, harmonious way, and have the great success in 2024. I also shared that I wanted to enlighten you as to where I see health going. I mentioned this in the previous episode, and I'll mention that again. For those that haven't listened to the previous episode is that I see quantum healing as the future of medicine, I see it as the future of healing. It's understanding how we can heal at the quantum level and the quantum level is the subatomic level. So it's it's lower than the molecular level. It's lower than the atomic level. It's the sub atomic level. So it's, it's really, really in a an incredible area that we don't know much about that might be spinning your brains, but it's at the quantum level. And we're starting to better understand it as we go through and, and do more research in this area. And there's lots of great healers in this space. And I'm going to be bringing them on the podcast in 2024 to start your quantum healing to start your quantum education around this area of quantum biology, quantum physics around her quantum circadian rhythm. So all these all this area that has quantum in front of it is going to be what's enlightening you into Only 24 as well as I'm still going to, obviously have a guess in other areas. But that's where I'm targeting some of my energy in 2024 is to get some more experts in this area because I find it fascinating. And I'm getting great results for my clients in implementing my knowledge around this area and putting it into their wellness plans. So yes, stay tuned for more episodes on quantum healing in 2024. And until the next episode, continue to health up and thank you for your ears and thank you listeners and viewers are really appreciate you tuning in to another insightful episode of me&my health up.
