Speaker 1:

Hello everybody, I'm the Gentle Yoga Warrior and I've been deep in this creative thing, so much so that I, for some bizarre reason, didn't realise I hadn't recorded a podcast over a week. And then I looked and it's almost a month since I've recorded a podcast, which is very unusual for me. I would just like to apologise for that, but at the same time it felt like a necessary thing. Sometimes you have a bit of space to realize what gives you joy, and I love doing these podcasts. And I got up today and I thought, actually I'm going to do a podcast themed with what is happening right now and where I'm recording the podcast from.

Speaker 1:

We are headed out of early autumn into late autumn and we in the midst of vata season. So vata, according to the Ayurvedic system, is the dosha. Vata is the elements of air and ether and it can be a time of great expansion and creativity, and hence my dosha is primarily Vata. That's something I really went deep into with a different form of creativity, and I'm just letting that cook and come to rise before I share any more details about it. But going back to you, and what does this season mean? So Vata, creative energy, creative energy, great inspiration, a great time to start new projects. We always think it's the start of the year, but if you're doing anything creative, I think it's one of the best times of year to to get into any creative things, just before everyone nestles down for the winter. Or perhaps you live in the part of the world where everyone's starting to get prepared for the spring. Either way, it's a good time for creativity. That a spring energy or that autumnal energy can bring massive amounts of creativity. But vasa out of balance, unfortunately, can be like a kind of um, if you let a sheet blow in a gale force wind and the pegs start to come off, that's what it can be like. So where is, with this beautiful ether energy that we can expand and kind of tap into our godly kind of creativity that is in all of us, even if you think you're not a creative being. We all have different ways we create. We create our day from the moment we kind of wake up and if we just go all out creative about the grounding, then that's how we can feel a bit off balance. So some of the best things, what one can do during this time is to really go within oneself.

Speaker 1:

I know meditation has many different metaphors over the years and depending on who. I've talked to so many people on my podcast over the years and it's so interesting that everyone has a slightly different or vastly different opinion on what meditation is and which version is best. Um invite you to explore one that is best for you and that brings all these wonderful creative colors to your life in a sense, something that you can do in a way that it is going to really nurture and and help you and by doing it like every day or as much as you possibly can, it's going to be make big changes. There's an amazing book called it's about it's called atomic habits. Oh, I please forgive me, I can't remember the author, but if you look up atomic habits, it's a really famous bestseller and I really feel that meditation is a micro habit which becomes an atomic habit. So by doing these things kind of daily and finding these space for practices and we're all often kind of results driven society I think if I do this, it must happen, but I am and I would suggest that you do something with a kind of wonderment and just seeing how it kind of feels for you and doing meditation daily. It's not always easy, it's not, but if you set aside that time and make it really sacred, that is a way that you can balance your vata because you're grounding yourself or get doing some slow yoga or tai chi or exercise as well as that, your normal exercise, that's going to help you really get into the body. And the greatest tool in the world to get into the body is the breath. And by remembering how we breathe has an effect on us. And I always think that, even though it's a time of air and ether, we need to kind of use water to help balance that out. And by drinking enough water or kind of going for walks where we connect with water, like maybe walk past, like a lovely river or pond obviously make sure it's you walk in a safe distance, don't think silly, but like just by walking like I don't know along. You know, a riverside walk in the autumnal or spring air is a fantastic way to kind of connect with the being and drinking enough water and like and then even turning, like our showers or baths, into meditation where we're kind of really present whilst we do that and then exploring ourselves creatively.

Speaker 1:

Maybe you have the assumption that you, you can't do anything creative. I believe that everyone has got different creativity that they can do. And and you know what, if you're writing it's not always about writing to provide a bestseller writing be really cathartic. The same with painting you can paint for the joy of doing it. You don't have to make like a, like a masterpiece by all means. If that's the road you want to go down, then that's great as well.

Speaker 1:

What I'm trying to say is that you can do things as a hobby. It doesn't have to kind of be this kind of western results driven thing or maybe you might completely surprise yourself but find the joy in it rather than what you perceive. The outcome should be and that is one of the greatest, the greatest tips I could give you. And also, life has a surprising way and, like when we try new things, it opens up doors and we find ways in which we can become creative again in so many different ways, like dancing's creative creative, cooking's creative. There's so many different things you can. You can go on google and have a look and see all the different ways that you can be possibly creative and then decide which one works, that works for you, and if you try a few things and you don't like it, try something new, but consistency, but also finding this wonderment and magic in the world and that is the biggest tip I could give to you for this time of year and so you keep grounded. So, to summarize, you keep grounded, you keep your feet firmly on the ground, but then you also allow yourself to expand, so you feel like you're limitless.

Speaker 1:

So that balance, as it is coming to the end of Libra season, which is all about balance, as we then slowly come in to the season of diving deep as we go into the time of Scorpio, which is a time that a lot of people are scared of um, the sting in the tail, the things, but there is some, you know, in the depths of the womb when we, when we were babies, and our parents and mum's womb, in the depths of the, the womb is kind of that, that kind of darkness that go on within and and creativity in many ways asked us to go over and explore that aspect of our being, and by doing that we've become vast in so many ways. So, dear listener, I'd love to hear from you how do you tap into your creativity at this time? What new creative ways are you going to be? What creative things did you do in the past and you just suddenly decided to revisit with fresh eyes and what are your top tips to keep grounded at this time. So I'm going to end this podcast with a short but wonderful creative meditation, as promised.

Speaker 1:

Here is your meditation, inspired by today's show. Top tips for the meditation is either sit nice and cross-legged on the floor with a nice straight back, always nice to sit on a block or a cushion, although that's not available for you. You sit in a chair with the back nice and straight. The important thing is you're not slouching, and if you're doing something that requires your concentration, all you need to do is just pause this and you can reconvene the meditation at a time that is good for you.

Speaker 1:

If you're doing the meditation, let's begin, so close your eyes and take some calming deep breaths and as you close your eyes, imagine just like in the film Mary Poppins if you've ever seen it and don't worry if you haven't you are jumping into a chalk picture from your reality, and that picture can be any painting that you wish. You jump into this magical chalk picture, a picture that brings you joy and happiness and magic, and all of a sudden you are not restricted by the kind of confounds of this ordinary world and you're in this magical world where you can draw whatever you wish to and you can explore wherever you wish to go. So for the next few minutes I am going to be quiet, but you just slowly walk around this imaginary chalk picture, just using the breath, keeping your feet firmly on the ground but exploring with the eyes. So, as we come to the end of this meditation, what can you see that makes you feel alive and awake? What can you see that makes you feel alive and awake? What magical thing in this chalk picture do you wish to bring back into your everyday life? As you inhale slowly, calmly, deeply and magically, as you slowly come back into the room, back into the now.
